According to a 2014 study by the Pew Research Center, people in wealthier countries are happier on average, but only up to a point. Even in so-called "emerging" countries like Indonesia, Pakistan and Turkey, there was a correlation between rising wealth levels and the percentage of happy people. Interestingly though, in well-off nations, people don't necessarily attribute their happiness directly to money. The same Pew Research Center study found that health, children's education, safety from crime, owning a home and having a fulfilling job were all more important than financial security. Of course, those factors are all somewhat connected to the economy.  Where did that saying come from to start with? And is money still a key player? In under 3 minutes, we answer your questions! She will give you a garland to grace your head and present you with a glorious crown.”   Questions We Discuss: What are replicable traits you have observed to be present in healthy and spiritually vibrant marriages? I keep asking that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the glorious Father, may give you the spirit of wisdom and revelation, so that you may know him better. I pray also that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened in order that you may know the hope to which he has called you, the riches of his glorious inheritance in the saints, and his incomparably great power for us who believe. That power is like the working of his mighty strength, which he exerted in Christ when he raised him from the dead and seated him at his right hand in the heavenly realms, far above all rule and authority, power and dominion, and every title that can be given, not only in the present age but also in the one to come. And God placed all things under his feet and appointed him to be head over everything for the church, which is his body, the fullness of him who fills everything in every way.”   Ephesians 2:8–10 “For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith – and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God – not by works, so that no one can boast. For we are God‘s workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.“   Ephesians 2:13 “But now in Christ Jesus you who once were far away have been brought near through the blood of Christ.“   Philippians 1:6 “being confident of this, that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus.”

I got to interview Liam Naden. Liam went from millionaire to homeless in his mid-40s, this after decades of studying "success". In rebuilding his life, he discovered the true reason why we get the results we do in our lives. He now helps others to overcome their problems and end frustrations through his courses and podcasts. He also works with couples and individuals to help them heal and improve their relationships and is the author of the recently-published book, "Marriage Uncounseling: A Counterintuitive Approach to Healing Relationships and Bringing Back Love." We spoke about: 1:26 Going from multi millionaire to being homeless. 5:51 Success was coming to me. 11:26 Moving from one stressful situation to another. 12:01 Not knowing what success really looks like. 18:36 Being happy. 22:31 You have a choice in what things in your life mean. 24:51 Only difference in if you're happy or not is the way you look at things. 26:06 Our brains are designed to make us happy. *Disclaimer: The views and opinions on Roman Prokopchuk's Digital Savage Experience are those of the guest's alone as their own, and the host's alone as his own. More than a third of us admit to having had a spiritual experience. We might have been profoundly moved by a sunset or a painting; or felt that we've connected with our god or with the entire world around us. Such events can be transformative - bringing positive change to our lives and increasing our happiness - but some experiences aren't so great.  In front of a live audience in Washington DC, David Yaden of Johns Hopkins University tells Dr Laurie Santos about his work examining what effect spiritual experiences have on us and how things like meditation and psychedelic drugs can bring about these powerful transformational episodes.   David Yaden is the author of: The Varieties of Spiritual Experience: 21st Century Research and Perspectives.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

What if you finally reach your biggest career or life goal, but don't feel as excited as you thought you would? On the fourth episode of the Coached Podcast's new season, Coach Keren is joined by guest host Christopher Chandler to answer YOUR questions on the midlife shift, on change in general, and on the experiences surrounding personal grief. Chris is a superstar integrative nutrition health and wellness coach and instructor who experienced his own “Crisis to Awakening” moment on his life journey when at the age of 23,  he lost his father.  Together, Chris joins Keren to give insight and guidance to two callers with dynamic but relatable questions surrounding lackluster feelings after reaching monumental life goals,  and honoring a desire to change our lives even when from the outside - our lives look pretty great to others.    Sign up for the Enthusiasm Academy: https://kereneldad.com/enthusiasmacademy/   IN THIS EPISODE   [04:46] Chris shares the grief experience that shifted the trajectory of his life's path. [07:41] Keren introduces the first question from Dev, an author who just published her book.  Dev's question is: why doesn't she feel happy and satisfied now that she has reached an awesome goal? [08:46] Christopher defines trauma regarding life experiences: “trauma is simply an experience you had where you didn't have the coping skills to truly express how you're feeling” [17:03] Keren welcomes the second question from Kara who has called in asking for advice on how to make a big life change though it may come with the cost of upending her existing circumstances.   KEY TAKEAWAYS:   Trauma doesn't necessarily happen surrounding grief, it can be caused by everyday experiences if you don't have the tools to cope with the situation. You have everything you need, and life is urgent. Don't wait until tomorrow to live the life you want. Comfort zones are meant to be blown up, don't stay within the comfort zone if it is not serving you.   GUEST BIO:   Chris Chandler is a husband, friend, brother, uncle, nutrition and joy coach, Master SoulCycle instructor, and a Regional Vice President with Arbonne International.  Chris is certified through the Institute for Integrative Nutrition. Though it cost all you have, get understanding. Cherish her, and she will exalt you; embrace her, and she will honor you. She will give you a garland to grace your head and present you with a glorious crown.”   Questions We Discuss: What are replicable traits you have observed to be present in healthy and spiritually vibrant marriages? How is self-understanding related to honoring God and growing in intimacy in marriage? What is your advice when expectations are not met in marriage?   Gary Thomas' writing and speaking focuses on bringing people closer to Christ and closer to others.   He is the author of 20 books that together have sold over two million copies and have been translated into more than a dozen languages. Having believed, you were marked in him with a seal, the promised Holy Spirit, who is a deposit guaranteeing our inheritance until the redemption of those who are God's possession- to the praise of his glory.”   Ephesians 1:15–23 “For this reason, ever since I heard about your faith in the Lord Jesus and your love for all the saints, I have not stopped giving thanks for you, remembering you in my prayers.
