Send us a textHow God Provides in Unlikely WaysEpisode Description (Buzzsprout-Compliant – 500 words):Have you ever found yourself in a situation so desperate that only a miracle could save you? In this episode, we explore the incredible story of Elijah at the brook Cherith, found in 1 Kings 17:1–6. Elijah was a prophet who boldly declared a drought over the land, but he didn't expect to suffer the consequences of that very prophecy. Stranded in the wilderness, with no food and a drying brook, he experienced one of the most radical displays of God's provision.God used ravens—unclean birds by Jewish law—to deliver bread and meat to Elijah twice daily. This act not only sustained Elijah physically but also revealed something deeper about God's nature: He often provides in ways that challenge our expectations and traditions. The brook Cherith became a place of testing, isolation, and miraculous provision. In today's spiritual climate, many believers are experiencing their own “brook moments.” Churches may be going through the motions, yet Bible sales are increasing, showing a growing hunger for a personal, authentic connection with God. Like Elijah, many of us are in seasons of drought, both physically and spiritually, waiting on God to show up.This episode is a timely reminder that God's provision often comes through unconventional means. Whether it's a surprising relationship, an unexpected opportunity, or strength from a hidden place, God knows how to meet your need—even when the method doesn't make sense. If you're standing by your own shrinking brook, wondering how you'll make it through, this message will remind you that you're not forgotten. You're being positioned for a miracle.Key Takeaways:God allows testing seasons to grow our dependence on Him.Divine provision doesn't always look “clean” or expected.Elijah received water (refreshment), bread (God's Word), and meat (strength) exactly when he needed it.God often meets us at our lowest point with His highest power.Scripture Reference: 1 Kings 17:1–6 — “And the ravens brought him bread and meat in the morning and bread and meat in the evening, and he drank from the brook.”Resources & Mentions:Full passage on BibleGateway: 1 Kings 17:1–6For more episodes: [YourWebsiteHere.com]Follow us on Instagram: [@YourPodcastHandle]Listen on: Apple Podcasts | Spotify | Buzzsprout | Google Podcasts | Amazon MusicCall to Action: If this episode encouraged you, share it with someone going through a tough season. Noah And The FloodHey parents! Use these questions as a guide to talk over this week's lesson, Noah and the Flood, with your child after they've listened to the story! What was your favorite part of the story we just heard? Do you have any questions about what you saw?How was Noah different from the people around him?Noah was the only man on Earth who still walked with God and made the right choices. All of the other people were evil and were doing things God says are wrong. What were God's instructions to Noah? Why might that have seemed strange?God told Noah to build a boat and put two of each animal on it. It was strange because God warned of a flood, but it had never even rained like that before! Noah had to have faith and trust God's plan. What did God promise Noah? How did he show this promise?God promised he would never flood the Earth again, and he put a rainbow in the sky to show his promise. What are some of God's plans for me?To love him forever, to love other people, and to be a part of his family.Think about this part of our Bible verse: “In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will direct your paths.” What does it mean that God directs your path?It means he tells us what is best and the right way to live. I Am Protected (Identity Series)Psalm 18:32 “God gives me strength for the battle. He keeps my way secure.” This verse came to me from a challenge that we received in Big Life mentoring this past week. Pamela Crim gave us a list of 14 Bible verses that tell us who God says we are. Our job was to read one verse each day and to pray with it. Read it out loud and really think about what it says. She encouraged us to go online to look up the verse in many different translations. Have you done that before? Have you taken a verse and then checked the other translations to see what words they use? I do this often, and I am always surprised by the words the various translations use. I know they are all saying the same thing, and yet some just hit me more than others. If you haven't tried this before, or you haven't done it often, might I suggest you give it a try? I think you will find you like reading the various translations. The website I use to do this is Biblegateway.com. However, there are several different ones you could use.Today's verse tells us that we are protected. It begins with the sentence, “God gives me strength for the battle.” This is important to know, as God does give us strength for our battles. Sometimes, we look at the fight we have ahead of us, and we are sure that we don't have the strength to fight it. We might be looking at a really long custody battle, divorce proceedings, a long medical journey, whatever it may be, and we know we aren't strong enough for it. Have you ever felt like this, like the road ahead is too hard, too long, too steep, too painful, and that you just don't have the strength for it? I get it. Life is hard. I know so many who are struggling right now. So many who have way more to handle than any one person ever should. The important thing to keep in mind is that we are not in this alone. You are probably right. Your situation is more than you can handle on your own, which is why you are lucky that you are not on your own. You have your heavenly Father, who is providing you with the strength you need each day. I know sometimes it doesn't feel like He is giving you enough strength. Sometimes, it doesn't feel like you have enough to keep fighting, and yet with each new day comes a renewed strength. He is constantly filling you up so that you can fight your battles. You might not feel as if you are full of strength, and yet you do keep going; you do keep fighting so you can see He is giving you strength. He keeps my way secure. I think this means that God always makes sure there is a way. God is a way maker and so we don't have to worry about coming to a point where we are stuck at a dead end where there is no way out. I know it feels like we get to this point sometimes. I know we can reach a point where we can't see a way out. The way out is not always one that we can see or that we can understand. God can make a way where there isn't one. This can happen in several different ways. I read about a person who was getting sued because he did not read the contract carefully, and he was going to lose everything. He knew he didn't really have a leg to stand on as he did sign the contract and yet he prayed for God to intervene anyway. The lawsuit just went away. It was like it never happened and he never heard anything more about it. There have been people who have been told they or their family members were going to die. They had some illness, like cancer, and there was nothing else the doctors could do for them. Their family members prayed anyway, and God healed them. He took away their illness completely. That is a way forward that we didn't see ahead of time and we might not have even believed it before seeing it. I have heard many stories of people who were stuck in a situation and couldn't see any way out of it. There have been numerous times when my parents were in situations where they couldn't see a way out, and yet they trusted that God had one, and he never let them down. One time I remember my dad telling me about when God protected him was when a neighbor wanted to fight him. My dad had invited a neighborhood friend to church with our family. She came to church with us, and she was touched by the Lord. She started going regularly and decided she wanted to change her whole life to be in alignment with God.At the time, she was living with a guy that she was dating, and she no longer felt comfortable with the relationship as it was. She didn't want to be living with someone she wasn't married to. I am not sure if she broke up with him or just moved out until they were married or what the exact situation was. I do know that her boyfriend blamed my dad and was really upset with him. We lived in the projects at the time, and so everyone lived very close together, and everyone knew everything about everything. My mom called my dad at work to let him know she heard that this guy was going to fight my dad when he got home from work. My dad got home at the same time every day.My dad wasn't really sure what to do about this news, so he prayed the Lord would protect him. When he got home, he could see there was a group of people on our front lawn. The guy who wanted to beat my dad up was there, and then a bunch of kids who wanted to see the fight. My dad paused in his car before getting out and asked the Holy Spirit to come into this situation. He asked God to give him the words to say to these guys to defuse the situation. My dad certainly couldn't see a way out of this situation. He had no idea what to say or what to do. He needed God's protection and His wisdom. My dad got out of the car. He walked up to the man who wanted to fight him, and words just came flowing out of his mouth. He didn't even know what he was saying. This is what he said, “I know you are in a lot of pain. I know you are hurt, and you feel like punching me will make you feel better. If you think that will help you, then go ahead and punch me. I think what you really need is someone to listen to you. So, let's go inside, and we can talk, and I will listen.” The guy started crying, and they went inside and talked for hours. My dad definitely couldn't have seen that ending. This is not something he could have seen coming. The path was not neatly laid out in front of him. He knew he was in trouble that only God could get him out of, and so He asked God to protect Him. I think God likes it when we step out in faith, knowing that He keeps His promises. I don't know if my dad knew this specific verse or not, and yet I do know they trusted God to protect him and to show him the way out of this situation. You can do the same. You can trust that God is protecting you. He is giving you strength for the battle and keeping your way secure. That is a promise you can stand on. Dear Heavenly Father, I ask you to bless all those listening to this episode today. Lord, help us to know we are protected by you. Help us to feel that protection. Help us lean into you and not to worry about what might happen. Lord, help us to trust that you have secured our way. Help us to step out in faith, knowing you will provide a way, even if it is one we can't see ahead of time. Help us to trust you, Lord. We love you. You are amazing! You have always come through for us in the past, and we know you always will. Noah And The FloodHey parents! Use these questions as a guide to talk over this week's lesson, Noah and the Flood, with your child after they've listened! He does that by speaking to us through the Bible, through his helper the Holy Spirit, by talking to us through other Christians, or by talking to him in prayer.Parent Devotional Hey parents! In the future, their normal lifespan will be no more than 120 years.”4 In those days, and for some time after, giant Nephilites lived on the earth, for whenever the sons of God had intercourse with women, they gave birth to children who became the heroes and famous warriors of ancient times.5 The Lord observed the extent of human wickedness on the earth, and he saw that everything they thought or imagined was consistently and totally evil. 6 So the Lord was sorry he had ever made them and put them on the earth. It broke his heart. 7 And the Lord said, “I will wipe this human race I have created from the face of the earth. Yes, and I will destroy every living thing—all the people, the large animals, the small animals that scurry along the ground, and even the birds of the sky. I am sorry I ever made them.” 8 But Noah found favor with the Lord. The Story of Noah9 This is the account of Noah and his family. Noah was a righteous man, the only blameless person living on earth at the time, and he walked in close fellowship with God. 10 Noah was the father of three sons: Shem, Ham, and Japheth.11 Now God saw that the earth had become corrupt and was filled with violence. 12 God observed all this corruption in the world, for everyone on earth was corrupt. 13 So God said to Noah, “I have decided to destroy all living creatures, for they have filled the earth with violence. Yes, I will wipe them all out along with the earth!14 “Build a large boat[c] from cypress wood[d] and waterproof it with tar, inside and out. Then construct decks and stalls throughout its interior. 15 Make the boat 450 feet long, 75 feet wide, and 45 feet high.[e] 16 Leave an 18-inch opening[f] below the roof all the way around the boat. Put the door on the side, and build three decks inside the boat—lower, middle, and upper.17 “Look! I am about to cover the earth with a flood that will destroy every living thing that breathes. Everything on earth will die. 18 But I will confirm my covenant with you. So enter the boat—you and your wife and your sons and their wives. 19 Bring a pair of every kind of animal—a male and a female—into the boat with you to keep them alive during the flood. 20 Pairs of every kind of bird, and every kind of animal, and every kind of small animal that scurries along the ground, will come to you to be kept alive. 21 And be sure to take on board enough food for your family and for all the animals.”22 So Noah did everything exactly as God had commanded him.The Flood Covers the Earth7 When everything was ready, the Lord said to Noah, “Go into the boat with all your family, for among all the people of the earth, I can see that you alone are righteous. 2 Take with you seven pairs—male and female—of each animal I have approved for eating and for sacrifice,[g] and take one pair of each of the others. 3 Also take seven pairs of every kind of bird. There must be a male and a female in each pair to ensure that all life will survive on the earth after the flood. 4 Seven days from now I will make the rains pour down on the earth. And it will rain for forty days and forty nights, until I have wiped from the earth all the living things I have created.”5 So Noah did everything as the Lord commanded him.6 Noah was 600 years old when the flood covered the ...

By embracing these stories, we offer solace to those who feel alone during the festive season and open up a new perspective on spiritual connection and the formation of a larger Family in faith. We also reimagine the birthplace of Jesus, examining cultural and biblical interpretations that challenge the idea of an innkeeper turning away Mary and Joseph. Delving into original Greek translations, we uncover a more nuanced setting, while exploring the roles of shepherds and Magi as they deepen the nativity story's faith-building moments. Finally, we contemplate the journey from sin to redemption, from the cradle to the cross, highlighting the profound theological concepts of adoption into God's family. The Jersey Devil, a creature of nightmares with leathery wings and glowing red eyes, was born from a curse in the 1700s and has endured ever since – with sightings still taking place. (From Leeds to Lore, The Jersey Devil) *** In the mid-1970s, a terrifying predator stalked the streets of Oakland County, Michigan, abducting and murdering four innocent children. For nearly half a century, the identity of the Oakland County Child Killer has eluded investigators, leaving a trail of anguish, conspiracy theories, and unanswered questions in its wake. It's a cold case that continues to haunt the community, as justice never came. (The Child Predator of Oakland County) *** The Sabretooth Clan… a group of modern-day vampires who blend seamlessly into society by day but embrace their nocturnal alter egos by night. With custom fangs, vintage attire, and a unique philosophy, these "lifestylers" host extravagant balls, perform rituals, and even have their own spiritual pantheon – all while maintaining a strict no-blood-drinking policy. What is it like to live as a vampire? (What Is It Like To Live As a Vampire?) *** In 1864 Canton, Ohio, a romance between German immigrant Ferdinand Hoffman and local girl Caroline Yost spiraled into a tale of deception, abuse, and ultimate tragedy. Their ill-fated union, marred by Hoffman's criminal past and violent tendencies, culminated in a shocking church stabbing and a dramatic manhunt. (The Canton Church Murder) *** From fiery pits to Satan's domain, our modern conception of hell is a tapestry woven from centuries of art, literature, and religious interpretation. But how much of what we believe about the underworld actually aligns with biblical teachings? We'll look at some common misconceptions about hell, and discover how our cultural understanding of eternal damnation often diverges from scriptural truths. Are you stupid? This controversial video explores how the Bible defines stupidity as hating correction. Learn why embracing instruction and humility leads to true knowledge, while pridefully rejecting correction keeps you ignorant. A thought-provoking perspective!
What happens when you're reading the Bible and you come across a word or an idea that is new to you, confusing to you, or you just don't understand? Today we're going to talk about a simple way to approach God's Word, to grow in your ability to understand, and also help you trust God in the process. 4 tips you'll be really thankful to have...and super simple too! 2 My little children, I am writing these things to you so that you may not sin. But if anyone does sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous. 2 He is the propitiation for our sins, and not for ours only but also for the sins of the whole world. 3 And by this we know that we have come to know him, if we keep his commandments. 4 Whoever says “I know him” but does not keep his commandments is a liar, and the truth is not in him, 5 but whoever keeps his word, in him truly the love of God is perfected. By this we may know that we are in him: 6 whoever says he abides in him ought to walk in the same way in which he walked. Read from several translations to help you understand a challenging word or idea. BibleGateway.com

Episode 136 - We've established that feminism has a fatal foothold in all sorts of cultural and societal institutions - it's made schooling anti-boy; it's made dating and marriage miserable for many--men and women alike; it's turned our storytelling into unrealistic propaganda; it's opened the floodgates for every form of gender confusion under the sun. But is it possible that it's also managed to emasculate our theology? Ben does the opposite of smooth things over in this, his last lead episode--that is, he just makes more waves (and too many puns), while Chad carries a memorable tune as co-host in this "fruity" episode. The two toss around the novel notion that the Holy Spirit animates men and women differently. How might "fruits" of the Spirit like peace and love take on a uniquely masculine character? What would cause or motivate someone to "read feminism into" the Scriptures? And what are examples of how the manly bearing of spiritual fruit can benefit the home, the church, and the culture at large?SHOW NOTES:Chad's song reference: Slugs & Bugs – Slugs and BugsBen's devotional book reference- Abiding in Christ- Andrew MurrayBen's Biblical passages referenced:Fruit of the Spirit - Galatians 5:22 NIV - But the fruit of the Spirit is love, - Bible GatewayPaul's spiritually manly appeal: 2 Timothy 1:6-14 NIV - Appeal for Loyalty to Paul and the - Bible Gateway

And it will rain for forty days and forty nights, until I have wiped from the earth all the living things I have created.”5 So Noah did everything as the Lord commanded him.6 Noah was 600 years old when the floo...
We're gonna come out and say it. Biblegateway is a bad website. Safety Harbor finished their Habakkuk series and Lakeview wrapped up their stewardship series. We both spent time pulling dad duty with sick kids and “other duties as assigned”. Tim is continuing his worship director search. --- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/morningafterministryshow/message
