Most conversations about nearshoring assume you're moving away from Chinese manufacturing. Kerim Kfuri, president and CEO of The Atlas Network, has a harder truth: a lot of "nearshoring" is just Chinese foreign direct investment building factories in Vietnam and Mexico. The geography changes. The supply chain dependencies don't necessarily change with it.In this episode, recorded live on the expo floor at the Logistics World Summit in Mexico City, Kerim breaks down what 20 years of building end-to-end supply chains for small and mid-sized businesses has taught him — and what most operators still get wrong. In this episode:How The Atlas Network manages the full supply chain lifecycle for SMBs, from product idea to inventory management, across a network of 2,000 vetted factoriesWhy "nearshoring" in Vietnam and Mexico often means Chinese-owned factories with Chinese standardization — and why that matters for your tariff and sourcing strategyThe US manufacturing reality: why technology (not policy) is the actual leveler, and why we can't snap our fingers and rebuild a workforce we stopped training decades agoKerim's keynote framework from Logistics World: people, process, and innovation — and why "people" is the most undervalued of the threeWhat Kerim (MIT degree in AI and Strategy) says you actually give up when you hand too much to AI: creativity, human factor, and the interpersonal relationships that drive real businessThe signal-versus-noise framework for entrepreneurs: how to identify the three things that must get done today and stop letting everything else winWhy the most common thing Atlas Network hears from new clients is: "I wish we knew about you sooner"A bonus live interview with the founder of Logistics World Summit, who walked up mid-recording on the expo floorWatch this episode on YoutubeLinks & Resources:The Atlas NetworkKerim's book and speaking websiteBlythe's Logistics World + Mexico City Recap -----------------------------------------THANK YOU TO OUR SPONSORS!SPI Logistics has been a Day 1 supporter of this podcast which is why we're proud to promote them in every episode. he world's largest producer of cane sugar is planning its largest-ever capital expenditure to overhaul a historic — and timeworn — refinery near New Orleans.American Sugar Refining this week broke ground on the first phase of what the company said would be a $785 million project to modernize the   — the largest sugar processing plant in the Western Hemisphere.Initial construction, which is already underway, will build a new $200 million process building by 2028; state and company officials said that modernizing the overall campus' refining capabilities would allow it to meet future demand, improve reliability, and reduce both water and energy use. Additional phases, officials said, would build on those process improvements, but the announcement did not outline the next steps of the overall project — or a timetable for starting them.ASR said that it anticipates adding 15 jobs to its current workforce of 500. NOLA.com reports that the state's incentive package for the project included a 80% property tax abatement over 10 years. The Chalmette Refinery began operations at the campus along the Mississippi River in 1909, and it wears the scars of a 117-year history that has included hurricanes, fires and dramatic changes in the sugar market. Its 32 production lines can reportedly produce some 6 million pounds of sugar per day across dozens of product platforms. #manufacturing, #foodsupply, #sugarindustry, #refinery, #infrastructure, #capitalinvestment, #industrialupgrade, #madeinusa, #supplychain, #foodmanufacturing, #energyefficiency, #sustainability, #industrialnews, #businessnews, #louisiana, #economicdevelopment, #manufacturingjobs, #plantmodernization, #operations, #industryupdates

With the administration also urging broader agency action on country-of-origin labeling and marketplace verification, companies should be reassessing whether their “Made in USA” messaging can stand up to a tougher enforcement environment. It added that new or increased tariffs cost the company $67 million in 2025 and posted a fourth-quarter gross profit loss of $30 million, compared to a $3 million loss in the same period in 2024, which it partially attributed to rising tariff costs. According to the union, they'd planned to bargain a new contract last month when, instead, they were told the plant would close. Leaders called it “a slap in the face.”A recent report by the BBC cited union workers who claimed Conn-Selmer has had a plan in the works for a while.

—------------------------------APOIE o programa: APOIA.SE - https://apoia.se/nosnahistoriaSIGA-NOS no Instagram: @nosnahistoria_@buenasideias@lucianopotter @arthurdeverdadePatrocínio:TRADUZCA - https://www.traduzca.com/LIVROS INDICADOS NO EPISÓDIO - UM LIVRO - https://www.livrarianosnahistoria.com.br

Soccer Town: Kearny, berceau du football Made in USA

Reportage International

Manufacturing is going global, but "Made in USA" still matters. Dr. Bill Cardoso reveals how Creative Electron's groundbreaking joint venture with Unicomp is redefining X-ray inspection technology while maintaining their American manufacturing roots. In this interview with Eric Miscoll on the show floor of IPC APEX 2025, Bill shares how the partnership creates a 1,200-employee global enterprise with facilities spanning Hungary, India, Malaysia, and China. This strategic expansion arrives just as international trade faces growing challenges from protectionist policies and tariff barriers, positioning Creative Electron to serve customers worldwide while strengthening their San Marcos, California manufacturing operations. The joint venture combines complementary technological strengths. Unicomp brings hardware expertise optimized for Asia's high-volume, low-mix production environments, while Creative Electron contributes user-friendly software tailored for Western manufacturing's high-mix, low-volume challenges. All systems—including those based on Unicomp technology—will be American-made for the American market, maintaining the quality and warranty that distinguishes Creative Electron in the marketplace.Behind this expansion lies a closely aligned customer-obsessed philosophy driving everything from R&D to organizational structure. Dedicated business units now focus on specific product lines, ensuring specialized attention to customer needs. For Cardoso, this represents just the beginning of an ambitious journey to grow Creative Electron into a multi-billion dollar enterprise bridging technological silos to deliver inspection solutions that work across global manufacturing environments.EMS@C-Level Live at APEX is sponsored by global inspection leaders Koh Young (https://www.kohyoung.com) and Creative Electron (https://creativeelectron.com)EMS@C-Level is sponsored by global inspection leaders Koh Young (https://www.kohyoung.com) and Creative Electron (https://creativeelectron.com) You can see video versions of all of the EMS@C-Level pods on our YouTube playlist.
