Jameela Jamil an actor, writer, podcaster, and activist. Leaving behind a high-profile life as a host and DJ on two of the UK's most iconic TV and radio shows, a health scare led her to make a radical change that delivered her into a new life in Los Angeles with the intention of shifting into writing. But, fate had a different plan. Never having acted before, she auditioned for and landed a starring role as Tahani on NBC's The Good Place, opposite Ted Danson and Kristen Bell. Seeking to leverage her growing influence to become a voice for change and equality, she launched activism platform, I Weigh. This rapidly became a global movement to mobilize activism, around issues of mental health, climate change, equality for marginalized groups, and what she calls "radical inclusivity." In April, Jamil launched the ‘I WEIGH podcast, where she hosts thought-leaders, performers, activists, influencers, and friends, exploring how they are working through their past shames to find where their value truly lies. You can find Jameela Jamil at: Instagram : https://www.instagram.com/jameelajamilofficial/Jameela's Podcast : https://www.earwolf.com/show/i-weigh-with-jameela-jamil/Check out our offerings & partners: Nutrafol: Go to Nutrafol.com and use promo code GOODLIFE to get 20% off. Hey Gang! Sorry for the delay, after a family emergency we are back to the business of making sure your streaming cue (or is it que?) runneth over!!! Two we have two incredible show recommendations!!The first is NBC'S: THE GOOD PLACE! It is in its fourth and final season currently airing on NBC and HULU, you can watch the first three seasons on NETFLIX. It stars Kristen Bell (Veronica Mars), Ted Danson (Cheers), and D'Arcy Carden (Barry). It's so wonderful, funny, smart and surprisingly touching!!Then I recommend a new Disney + show. I know, yet one more streaming service to get, but it's totally worth it for this show: THE MANDALORIAN. It's one of the best Star Wars creations since the film Rogue One. It's action packed, cool, at times funny and at times cuter than an Ewok! ("How is that even possible?" you ask. Watch and see!) Watch it before you get spoilers via memes on Facebook and Instagram!!And finally, I take you on a metaphorical walk through the enchanted candy shop "Lolli & Pops." Might I recommend the Peanut Butter and Jelly candy bar? Oh yes, I shall!Enjoy the show :)

On episode 111 of SOMEWHERE IN THE SKIES, Ryan is joined by actor/writer and UFO buff, Steve Berg. Ryan originally learned of Berg's work through a hilarious segment of the Comedy Central tv show, "Drunk History", in which Berg recounted the Roswell UFO incident in concise and inebriated detail. But Berg wasn't a one-trick pony. His UFO knowledge was vast, and it truly shows in this wide-ranging interview. Ryan and Berg discuss the late Stanton Friedman and his contributions to the UFO research field. They also discuss the prolific work of Jacques Vallée, belief systems, the cult-like tendencies of people in the UFO community, the Bennewitz affair in the 1980s, and Berg's personal thoughts on the recent mainstream coverage of UFOs and the work being done by To the Stars Academy. Berg then introduces us to his current podcast endeavor, Voyage to the Stars, a cosmic dark comedy of improvised storytelling and rich science fiction lore. Guest Bio: Steve Berg is an actor and improviser who was most recently seen in New Line’s comedy feature "Tag" starring Jon Hamm and Rashida Jones. His credits also include recurring roles on NBC's "The Good Place," ABC's "The Goldbergs," Comedy Central's "Idiotsitter," and BET's "The Comedy Get Down." He has appeared in two features for director Joe Swanberg -- the Netflix Original "Win It All" and the indie "Digging For Fire" which premiered at the 2015 Sundance Film Festival. Berg has been a drunk narrator multiple times on Comedy Central's "Drunk History" and was a series regular in the Fox Television pilot "WTF America" produced by Ron Howard and Brian Grazer. Berg can next be seen in the indie "When Jeff Tried to Save the World." He is originally from Omaha, Nebraska. In our first Emmy podcast of the 2018/2019 season, I am joined by Amanda Spears, who has been detailing her Emmy predictions here over the last few weeks. In this episode we tackle the Comedy Series categories and the battle that seems to be between Veep's final season and the second season of the history-making winner from last year, The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel. Will this focus on only these two shows (and their acting components like Julia Louis-Dreyfus vs Rachel Brosnahan and Alex Borstein vs Anna Chlumsky) make room for a surprise third to come in and shock? We look at the possible demise of the regular networks in the top category, with ABC's black-ish barely hanging on and NBC's The Good Place possibly coming in to take its place in the final lineup of seven shows. Netflix has been enormously successful at the Emmys...with nominations. With so many comedies, new and previously established for it to push, how many can it realistically get in? 2? 3? 4?? And can it ever win? I know I say at the beginning of the podcast that we'll be doing both Comedy and Drama categories but I decided to split them up so Drama cats will be coming soon. This podcast runs 1h 7m 45s with music. We're focusing on TV scene stealers this week, as we head into a new fall season. These two performers take some of the best shows on TV and make them even better, sidling into any given scene and swiping it right out from under everybody else with a perfect one-liner or pratfall. First, we're talking with D'Arcy Carden of NBC's The Good Place and HBO's Barry. Her work as Janet (and Janet's evil twin, Bad Janet) on The Good Place is some of the funniest stuff you'll see on TV. As what amounts to a computer program running off the raw power of the universe and living in the afterlife, Janet is someone who can make cacti materialize as if from nowhere, who can vomit pennies, who can evolve slowly but surely into something almost godlike, all without breaking a sweat. And Carden's work as the character is all sunny chipperness and goofy fun. She's so good Todd listed her as creating one of his favorite performances of 2017 in an earlier podcast. Next up is Natasha Rothwell of HBO's Insecure. The series, about a group of women in their early 30s, charts the tumultuous process of becoming an adult and having to figure things out. But Kelli, the character Rothwell plays, is exactly the sort of friend who's pretty sure she already has it figured out, and she's not ashamed to tell you just what she thinks of whatever decision you just made. Rothwell is also involved in the writing process on Insecure, figuring out what's going to happen with all of the characters on the show, which makes her role in the series even more intriguing. Both women join Todd in this week's episode to talk about why they love what they do, how they got their big breaks, and why working in sketch comedy helped prepare them for some of TV's best shows. Chaos, at least more than usual, at the White House: Hope is out, Jared is screwed, Kelly feels God's wrath, Trump declares war on metal, and Mueller is in everyone's business. Amanda Hess of the New York Times, comedian Patti Harrison, and the LA Times' Tre’vell Anderson join Jon to break down the week's news. Plus D'Arcy Carden from NBC's The Good Place stops by to take on the role of a lifetime and we play an Oscars game you won't want to miss. What. A. Week.

This Monday we'll be joined by Bambadjan Bamba who will talk about his journey and his current fight against an unjust system and why Black Panther matters to him. Listen in Monday and show your support.
