Today's episode is about the ups and downs of being hyped for media. Specifically, when it's let us down when we were really looking forward to something...and when we could smell a stinker a mile away but everyone else was excited for it. From "Because the Internet" to "Ni No Kuni II" all the way to "Game of Thrones", we don't hold back.MORE PLACES TO FIND USCrubscribe ► https://bit.ly/CrubcastOur Crubcasts are recorded LIVE at https://twitch.tv/crub_official every Tuesday at 7pm Eastern, with EXCLUSIVE Pre- and Post-Shows Bird App ► https://twitter.com/crubofficialPodcasts are available on Apple, Google, Spotify, and other platforms are available at ► https://crubcast.transistor.fm/SHOW NOTESNicco's new record "No New Thoughts": https://open.spotify.com/album/3KFQik0d14s7rr1NhKN7QBSean's brother's band "overtheweather": https://overtheweatherpa.bandcamp.com/musicMRIXRT's Thief video: https://youtu.be/uOgBYR9u9CsThe Golden Bolt's Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart stream: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZoQfmNepT2ITODAY'S CRUBCAST HOSTSKevin: https://www.youtube.com/@TheGoldenBoltNicco: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCl56kbl3tb-KiGEHT7MUGUgMoriarty: https://www.youtube.com/@reallycoolSean: https://www.youtube.com/@WolfkaosaunCHAPTERS00:00 Intro01:32 How "Because the Internet" let Nicco down10:25 "The End So Far" and left Sean feeling cold23:33 Why Kevin thinks "Ni No Kuni II" sucks30:27 Kevin also says "Pokemon Sun" sucks37:20 2014's "Thief" stole happiness from MRIXRT44:07 How "Game of Thrones" fumbled the bag51:42 And also how "The Walking Dead" fumbled the bag54:56 Sean tried to save his friends from "Fallout 76"58:54 MRIXRT saw the warning signs for "WATCH_DOGS Legion"01:05:30 How "Click" fell flat for Nicco. We're talking kings and queens this week. Brendan likes the off-hand lieges of Mount & Blade, while Alice B pitied the downfall of the Lich King of Warcraft. And Katharine appreciates the wholesome rule of child king Evan from Ni No Kuni II. But these are just some of the rulers we chat about. We’ve also been playing Reigns: Game of Thrones and Thronebreaker: The Witcher Tales. It’s a very royal episode. It turns out podcasting from outer space is an easy way to curse audio but Kassandra and Vader are back at it again this week after a brief summer hiatus. Our guest is Sean, @theLoreHunter on Twitter, who talks about being a new dad (for the second time!) and raising his children in video games. We also discuss Gloomhaven becoming a video game, free DLC for Ni No Kuni II, some games we've been playing, some shows we've been watching, and myriad other things meant to keep Kassandra from shouting about No Man's Sky. But then No Man's Sky talk does happen and Kassandra is blissful. We close out with the Question of the Week which you can find along with everything else @darkinsightpod on Twitter. Our hosts can be found @vadervanodin and @weaponthane. Thanks for tuning in! Special Guest: The Lore Hunter.
Alyssa and Jeremy start off this week's episode talking about high school memories, rock music, and emo rappers. The two dedicate their gameplay segment to Alyssa's playthrough of Ni No Kuni II, Jeremy's co-op experiences of Serious Sam The Second Encounter HD and closing out with some Yakuza Kiwami 2 discussions. After settling back into the podcast groove by talking about Smash Bros. and grandmas who admire Mufasa's face, we prove we can't go an episode without talking something Marvel-related, as Chris gives his thoughts on the latest Avengers film after being unable to join our previous spoilercast (And this does mean we give a ton away, so if you haven't seen the movie yet, note the timestamps below). John also gives his opinion so far on Ni no Kuni 2, and why it's surprising him after what he thought about its predecessor. Also, see if you can pinpoint the part in that section where he had to stifle some burps. For our main topic, it's John's turn in continuing a theme of little-known stuff one of us loves, and for him, this has been a long time coming. John discusses his history and admiration of the French cartoon series Dragon Hunters, which blew up in Europe and died on arrival everywhere else. John gushes a lot about its strengths and even how it's influenced his own ideas, while Chris tries to wrap his head around that gushing while also speculating on why the series failed to launch in the States. We talk the creative setting and creatures, the fun chemistry and nuances of the main cast, its amazing theme song provided by the most unlikely of bands, and also touch on the theatrical CG film it inspired as well as the unique reasons why you might want to avoid its second season. (Side note: This marked our first time doing some new recording tricks to preserve Chris's audio during the times he drops out on John's side. You may notice some occasional word jumps and changes in volume and sound quality as a result, but we'll keep working on it and it means you get to fully hear Chris in all his aural goodness.) Chamberlain and Chance attempt movie talk without their movie guy, managing to not spoil Avengers: Infinity War and not think too hard about A Quiet Place, lest they ruin it. Chance rags on Nintendo exclusives that he keeps buying and Chamberlain has found just enough in Ni No Kuni II to keep him playing. They also watch the latest Agony trailer together and it is truly unpleasant for all involved.

This week we're chatting about our favourite robots. Alec likes the robo-ostrich from World of Warcraft. Brendan is fond of the abandoned bots of Hackmud. And John loves little BUD of Grow Home because of his wobbly walking animations. Speaking of bi-pedal machines, Alec has also been stomping around in strategy mech-clicker Battletech. John has been fighting a witch in The Swords of Ditto. While Brendan has foolishly appointed a gambler as his finance minister in Ni No Kuni II. We go into personal introductions, the mission statement of the podcast, a little message about our past venture and more. In Industry Buzz this week Alaina talks about the drama going on over at the Overwatch League and how it dampers an overall fun experience. Josh dives into rumors of an upcoming Playstation 5 and when we can realistically expect the next generation to drop. In our Weekly Console-tation segment, Zach rants about how much better Horizon: Zero Dawn is to The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild. Josh gives his overall impressions of Sea of Thieves and Far Cry 5. Shannon lets us know how the recent Ghost Recon: Wildlands DLC stacks up and Alaina gives into a bit of Ni No Kuni II.
