For some time now I've wanted to do a Women In Comics Feature on the podcast and it has finally arrived to celebrate Women's History Month. What better guest could I have on to hang out with me to kick things off than comics and television writer Josie Campbell. Josie has penned some of the most iconic cartoon characters ever: My Adventures With Superman, She-Ra Princesses Of Power, New Looney Toons, and now she's taking over the comics medium with the comics adaptation of My Adventures With Superman and Shazam with DC Comics and the GLAAD nominated series I Heart Skullcrusher from Boom Studios. This is a wide ranging chat touching on all three of those projects as well as taking the temperature of where the medium is at in terms of representing women, our shared crush on Lori Terry playing Tank Girl, her love of Superman, why duality and hope are so intrinsic to her writing style, and sharing a laugh or two at some of our childhood influences. You can find her online on most social media platform @cozyjamble or visit her website at https://cozyjamble.com. My Adventures With Superman From the publisher Flying from the screen to the page, it's Superman! The hit Adult Swim animated series gets an all-new comic book adventure—bridging the gap between seasons one and two, and told by the head writer of the show! In 2023, My Adventures with Superman debuted on Adult Swim, dazzling viewers with a fresh, anime-inspired take on the Superman mythos—while retaining the enduring qualities of the Man of Steel, and his friends and enemies! Picking up from the explosive end of season one, Clark's about to spend Christmas alone in Metropolis. Though he's feeling a bit down and out, a tip about a monster in the sewers sends Superman, Lois, and Jimmy into action! But what is this monster that can absorb anything it touches, and why is it here in Metropolis? And when a mysterious android is captured by a covert military group, Superman realizes he can't just bust through a government facility and take what he wants—this is a job for mild-mannered journalist Clark Kent! Written by the head writer of My Adventures with Superman, Josie Campbell, and drawn by Pablo M. Collar, this collection brings the hit show to comics for the first time! This volume collects My Adventures with Superman #1-6. PATREON We have a new Patreon, CryptidCreatorCornerpod. If you like what we do, please consider supporting us. Published by Boom Studios, Grim is a original series created by writer Stephanie Phillips and artist Flaviano with colorist Rico Renzi, imagining the world of the afterlife run by various "Grim Reapers" of all backgrounds featuring the main character Jessica Harrow. She is a young Grim Reaper who is edgy yet caring character that is here to escort the dead to the afterlife. That is until her scythe gets stolen and the people living can see her. However, as we learn quickly this is just the tip of the iceberg. The mystery of Jessica Harrow's origins, how did she die, and how does her lineage end up putting the fate of the world in her hands, is what drives book forward. The pacing on this book is phenomenal, character development of Jessica is earned, the various Grim Reapers in their society are all unique, well developed story and the cliff hangers at the end of each issue made the series amazing. We recommend anyone who likes supernatural, action, drama with themes of horror vibes check out Grim. We read the first Deluxe Edition collecting the first 15 issues of the series, but the book is still ongoing with issues 16- 20 in volume 4 just released.

Previews! We round out the year of comic coming attractions for books shipping mostly in December 2024! To help us with recommendations we are joined by Martheus Wade of the Toshigawa Universe, one of the many sponsors for our 20th Anniversary event. We talk about the new Ready 2 Spar: Fighting Femme Fatales GN being solicited this month as well as the Wade Family's upcoming convention appearances. And then we dive into the Previews catalogs to suggest titles such as Mr. Mega Man, the Pedestrian tpb, ThunderCats: Apex, Manhole vol.2, Dust to Dust, New Gods and more from Alien Books, Dark Horse, Boom Studios, Image, Marvel and others. Along the way we say hello to Janet Wade, talk about Horror comics, and give quick thoughts on the first issue of Absolute Batman. (1:09:32)
