For example, Kalpana Chawla, the first Indian astronaut, with two advanced engineering degrees and a Ph.D. in aerospace engineering, pioneered vertical take-off and landing concepts now being used by… SpaceX and Bezos' Blue Origin. Peggy Whitson holds the record for the most cumulative days in space period at 665. Christina Koch holds the record for the longest extended stay in space for a woman - 328 days. She also participated with Jessica Meir in the first all-female spacewalk. Kate Rubins was the first astronaut period to sequence DNA in space. Eileen Collins earned four degrees in STEM, economics and management while finding time to become a U.S. AF pilot, and eventually become the first woman ever to pilot a space shuttle. She also docked with the Russian space station and facilitated the deployment of the Chandra X-ray Observatory. The first African American woman in space, Mae Jemison, born in 1956 in Alabama went on to earn an engineering degree in her teens, and a doctorate shortly after, before becoming an astronaut and carrying out 44 science experiments in space. The international crew are the agency's sixth commercial crew rotation mission with SpaceX aboard the orbital laboratory. A SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket propelled the Dragon spacecraft, named Endeavour, into orbit carrying NASA astronauts Stephen Bowen and Warren Hoburg, along with United Arab Emirates (UAE) astronaut Sultan Alneyadi and Roscosmos cosmonaut Andrey Fedyaev, for a science expedition aboard the space station. “Congratulations to the NASA and SpaceX teams for another history-making mission to the International Space Station! The Commercial Crew Program is proof American ingenuity and leadership in space benefits all of humanity – through groundbreaking science, innovative technology, and newfound partnership,” said NASA Administrator Bill Nelson. “Crew-6 will be busy aboard the International Space Station, conducting over 200 experiments that will help us to prepare for missions to the Moon, Mars, and beyond, as well as improve life here on Earth. We look forward to seeing all that they accomplish.” During Dragon's flight, SpaceX will monitor a series of automatic spacecraft maneuvers from its mission control center in Hawthorne, California, and NASA teams will monitor space station operations throughout the flight from the Mission Control Center at the agency's Johnson Space Center in Houston. Dragon will dock autonomously to the space-facing port of the station's Harmony module around 1:17 a.m., Friday, March 3. NASA Television, the NASA app, and the agency's website will provide live coverage of docking and hatch opening. NASA TV also will cover the ceremony to welcome the crew aboard the orbital outpost about 3:40 a.m. Once aboard station, Crew-6 will join the Expedition 68, consisting of NASA astronauts Frank Rubio, Nicole Mann, and Josh Cassada, as well as JAXA (Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency) astronaut Koichi Wakata, and Roscosmos cosmonauts Sergey Prokopyev, Dmitri Petelin, and Anna Kikina. We have native people here in Taiwan too! In English, they are called "indigenous". In Chinese, they are called "Yuan Zhu Min." Suella Braverman, however, said she had concerns over the direction of Prime Minister Liz Truss's government. She is the second senior minister to leave the government in less than a week, heaping more pressure on Truss as she fights to stay in power just over six weeks after she entered Downing Street. *) Malaysia to go to polls on Nov. 19 Malaysia will hold a general election on November 19 in a contest that the ruling party hopes would strengthen its hold on power. Prime Minister Ismail Sabri Yaakob dissolved parliament on October 10th and called for snap polls, saying an election would end years of political instability. The polls come earlier than the September 2023 deadline and during the annual monsoon season that has already triggered floods across Malaysia and is expected to affect voter turnout. And finally… *) First Native American woman in space awed by Mother Earth The first Native American woman in space says she is overwhelmed by the beauty and delicacy of Mother Earth. NASA astronaut Nicole Mann said from the International Space Station that she's received lots of prayers and blessings from her family and tribal community. Mann, 45, a Marine colonel and test pilot who was born in California, , said she is channeling “positive energy” as her five-month mission gets underway.

Nicole Aunapu Mann é a primeira mulher indígena a ir para o espaço. Como militar, Nicole Mann atuou em 47 missões como piloto de caça no Iraque e no Afeganistão, pilotando 25 tipos diferentes de areonave em suas mais de 2,500 horas de voo. Recebeu seis medalhas por seu serviço às Forças Armadas dos EUA. Em 2013, Nicole Mann foi uma das oito selecionadas para o treinamento de astronauta da NASA.
