In this episode we are joined by Lady Louise Vaughan, Chair of the Women of the Year Lunch. In 1955 Lady Lothian founded the Women of the Year Lunch. Her aim was to host a lunch where women could be recognised and celebrated for their achievements, but also network with and learn from each other. Nearly 70 years on, the annual lunch is still going strong under the management of our guest this week, Lady Louise Vaughan, current Chair of the lunch and granddaughter of Lady Lothian. We discuss Louise's background and career and what her vision is for the Women of the Year lunch. Since working at her first lunch in 1990 and then joining the management committee in 1998, she has some interesting stories to tell, including a very surprising story about Theresa May. A five-year-old letter surfaced Wednesday that appeared to show President Trump's former fixer Michael Cohen lied to investigators about a hush money payment made during the 2016 presidential election. USA Today released its 2023 "Women of the Year" list. It includes a distinguished woman from each of the 50 states and U.S. territories, and a handful of national honorees. Some of these women really are incredible: Nicole Mann, for example. She was the first Native American woman in space and the commander of NASA's SpaceX Crew-5 mission — she's also a mother. Nineteen-year-old Dasia Taylor from Iowa "invented an infection-detecting suture, then founded an inclusion-focused medical device company." Denice has  been an analyst on national security issues, I have worked with Top Secret clearances on U.S. national security concerns involving war and peace. She addresses the critical need for energy independence and the legislation required to protect and expand the fossil fuel industry and end the phony water crisis under ISSUES. That and so much more.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

Developing new tools for impact analysis so organizations can understand the impact of their activities and identify where the gaps are. Welcome back to the Crazy Train. This episode I return with an absolute insane week in the news. One of the most troubling things for me is, I've spent the last nearly 6 years raising my daughter as a single parent since my wife died. Countless hours retelling stories of her mother to help her grow from teenager to young adult women. Fighting against pop culture. Reminding her how her mom never said she was a "strong black woman". Never said her "pronouns are.." never raised her fist against " Patriarchy" nor referred to herself as a mythical creature like the unicorn with the hashtag "black girl magic. Now!... After all that, culture is erasing what a woman is. In this podcast I talk about Lia Thomas,(**I may have said Olympics I meant College) and more. You ready for this? In their respective fields, they fight for the rights of women, Black women specifically, and continuously strive toward making a more equal and just world.  The entire list of all 12 are as follows with headings in TIME: Amal Clooney Won't Back Down Allyson Felix on How Motherhood Made Her an Activist Kerry Washington on Why Women Must Become Their Own 'Olivia Popes' to Fix Politics Inside Amanda Nguyen's Fight to Ensure Survivors' Stories Are Taken Seriously History-Making Trans Actor Michaela Jaé Rodriguez Wants to Be the Example Amanda Gorman Wants You to Be Your Own Hero Why Sherrilyn Ifill Fights for Gender Equity in Civil Rights Battles Social Media Platforms Failed to Tackle Abuse. A man being included as an honorary woman of the year says it all. This lunacy can only make sense in a subjective world that abandons reason. And a world without reason is a world doomed to self destruct. The only reality that offers actual equality is objective truth. Truth assures that; despite age, ethnicity, gender or ideology, we all play by the same exact rules. Sure some will be born to or with advantages not shared by all, but that is an occurrence of circumstance not malice. The rules of the game cannot make allowances no matter the disparities facilitated by life itself. To do so would be the least equitable solution. A man cannot be woman of the year because a man is not a woman. If truth were the priority, I wouldn't have to write these words, we wouldn't have to read these articles, I wouldn't be accused of transphobia, and these mentally troubled individuals would receive the compassionate help that they so desperately need. https://www.theblaze.com/news/usa-today-women-of-the-year-transgender

Welcome to season 2, episode 7 of the Today is the Day Changemakers Podcast. This week my guest is Catherine Curry Williams, co-founder of two non-profit (for-impact) organization, She Angels Foundation and Shane's Inspiration. Catherine is also the podcast host of Wine, Women and Chocolate. Catherine is a true inspiration and has incredible energy to do all she can to make a difference in this world.  Born and raised in Brooklyn, NY until she took her suitcase and a bicycle and headed to California to become an actress. While there she met fellow New Yorker, Scott Williams.  Scott has been the writer and executive producer for the TV Show "NCIS" for many years now and was a guest on this podcast last year. Unfortunately, their first child Shane passed away just days after he was born due to spinal muscular atrophy. Out of a tragedy a beautiful non-profit organization was born called Shane's Inspiration. The organization provides inclusive playgrounds and educational programs that promote inclusion for children with disabilities. 75 playgrounds have since been built on 5 continents. Vice President Kamala Harris is the first of USA TODAY’s Women of the Year. Vice President Harris recently sat down with USA TODAY editor-in-chief Nicole Carroll and national columnist Suzette Hackney to discuss how American women have been overcoming obstacles caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.Women, and especially women of color, have been disproportionately affected by the economic recession. Layoffs have disproportionately impacted women and hundreds of thousands of women have left the workforce in the past year in order to take care of children and family amid a shortage of childcare options exacerbated by pandemic lockdowns. In their in-depth interview, Vice President Harris, Nicole Carroll, and Suzette Hackney talked about everything from paid leave, to access to childcare, to the minimum wage, and the pay gap between men and women — because supporting women means supporting all the work they do.Later this year, Suzette Hackney will profile 10 more Women of the Year for USA TODAY.
