In this installment of Sasquatch Tracks, the team presents an update on the well-attended annual Ohio Bigfoot Conference, before taking a deep-dive into one of the most promising new analytical endeavors related to relict hominoid research, The Sasquatch Data Project. Joining us to discuss this ambitious effort is Terrestrial, the nom de plume of the data scientist behind The Sasquatch Data Project who in the past worked on NASA's Dawn Mission related to the study of the dwarf planet Ceres. Terrestrial has a Bachelor of Science in Earth & Atmospheric Sciences from the Georgia Institute of Technology and is currently pursuing a Blue Ridge Naturalist certification. According to her website, while working as an undergrad at Georgia Tech, she played an integral role in categorizing, identifying, and measuring ground-ice features on Ceres for NASA's Dawn Mission, and first-authored a paper published in JGR: Planets, in addition to co-authoring several papers while working on this mission. Terrestrial tells us her interest in Sasquatch began at the early age of 5 and has only grown since. In 2023 she decided to retire as a professional Twitch gaming live-streamer and devote her time into creating the ultimate data resource to aid in the research of North America's soon-to-be-known great ape, the Sasquatch. We reminiscence the projects that started it all to current events and what is next with Mark and the STM crew! People have been crossing paths with hairy bipedal creatures for centuries. Mostly described as human-like, over 7 feet, hairy, and foul-smelling. When conversations arise over the big hairy creature's prime territory in the tri-state area of Ohio, Pennsylvania, and West Virginia, Salt Fork State Park is nearly always brought up. Located in eastern Ohio, the park has a whopping 17,229 acres for Bigfoot to inhabit. The Ohio Bigfoot Conference, led by Marc DeWerth, is held annually at Salt Fork State Park. This year, it is Saturday, April 30, 2022, where you can explore The Ohio Bigfoot Flea Market featuring over 40 vendors from all over the country with all kinds of Bigfoot, Sasquatch, cryptozoology, alien, U.F.O., Mothman, and other creature items. And you will see me with my books, including Monsters, Cryptids, and Mysterious Wild Beasts, and a new book on haunted Appalachian hiking trails. --- Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/betweenduskanddawn/support
Audio at the 33 minute mark fixed. CORRECTION!!! The Ohio Bigfoot Conference is April 30th not May 1st Dave joins us tonight in an episode filled with corroborating stories of a wooded property first discussed in episode 22. Strikingly similar experiences leading me to think there is something very strange going on in this somewhat rural northwest Indiana community.
What is cryptozoology? We break it down in this episode with the cryptozoologist and musician Lyle Blackburn. Lyle basically studies the phenomenon of unconfirmed monsters - think Bigfoot, Loch Ness Monster, and he even told me about a dinosaur that lives in Congo. I don't know, my mind is open! There's been a ton of Bigfoot sightings in Texas, and it's cool to talk to someone who knows about this stuff. In this episode aired live on Sunday night February 1 we kick of Cryptid month here at BTE Radio. Our next contestant for the co-host contest is Walt Wadsworth. Walt and Eric welcome Documentary Film Director Seth Breedlove and Producers Jesse Morgan and Allen Magargel of Fathom Frontiers as we will be talking about the new film project called Small Town Monsters and discuss the first installment the Minerva Monster. In August of 1978 a small town in eastern Ohio was thrust into the spotlight when a local family sighted a “monster” in the woods behind their home. Over subsequent evenings they were repeatedly visited by the creature culminating in a late-night encounter that ended in local police being called in. The story blasted onto the front pages of newspapers across the state and into the consciousness of a nation. For weeks police, news crews, and scores of hunters descended on the town of Minerva with one common goal; to find the beast. The documentary film is directed by Seth Breedlove, and produced by Jesse Morgan and Alan Megargle. Minerva Monster is the first in a series of documentaries called Small Town Monsters. Setting aside all the drama, and preamble of previous “monster” documentaries, Minerva Monster will tell the story through witness interviews; the real story, in the words of those who lived it. The film will see an official release on May 16th at the Ohio Bigfoot Conference and be available for purchase on or around this same date. Local screenings will follow. A Facebook page has already launched (facebook.com/minervamonster) with more social media outlets to follow. A trailer is scheduled to drop around the end of January. About our guests: Seth Breedlove is a freelance investigative journalist and podcast host. He has contributed content to numerous websites on a variety of topics. He served as a columnist for the Massillon Independent, helming a weekly column titled "Slice of Life" that ran on the front page of the paper. In 2013 Seth began researching the Minerva Monster case. After compiling an expansive library of information relating to the case he pitched the idea of making a film based on the flap to Alan Megargle and Jesse Morgan. Together they've spent the last year working on the film. Jesse Morgan began taking researching Bigfoot seriously in the summer of 2009. Growing up with a family that primitive camped nearly every summer has given Jesse a lifetime of experience in the field. This comfort level allows Jesse to see and hear things others may miss while in the field. Jesse has a diverse background that includes strategic planning, marketing and military. Jesse's background gives him a critical eye and the drive to get the answers needed to solve this mystery. Jesse would like nothing more than to bring conclusive evidence to the world that proves the existence of Bigfoot. Alan Megargle began in earnest researching the Bigfoot phenomenon during the summer of 2009. Being in the field has been the number one priority for Alan, and this effort has resulted in a number of “close calls” including recordings of possible wood knocks and vocalizations. Despite having a successful career as an engineer, Alan's true passion is a calling to research the unknown. Since childhood he has always found time to get in the field, whether lying on his parents roof watching the heavens or digging his heels into another muddy uphill hike, Alan finds excitement in knowing he could share one of the greatest scientific discoveries with the world. Tune in this Sunday night as we kick of Cryptid month here at BTE Radio with Walt, Seth, Jesse and Allen and talk about the Minerva Monster.
