On the Wednesday episode of the North Shore Drive podcast, presented by Mike's Beer Bar, host Christopher Carter welcomes Post-Gazette Steelers insider Ray Fittipaldo to analyze the latest rumors tying Broncos QB Russell Wilson to Pittsburgh. Do national pundits including Peter King and Chad Johnson right to see him as an upgrade over Kenny Pickett? Or are his years competing seriously for Super Bowls over at age 35? Later, our duo ponders the fit of NFL draft QB options such as Michigan's J.J. McCarthy, Washington's Michael Penix Jr. and Oregon's Bo Nix with the Steelers' QB room. They also weigh what the Steelers should do if top options at each of their positions of need are available at No. 20 overall. Who's most desirable from the group of Alabama OT JC Latham, Oregon C Jackson Powers-Johnson, Illinois DL Jer'Zhan Newton, Alabama CB Terrion Arnold and Toledo CB Quinyon Mitchell? On the Friday edition of the North Shore Drive podcast, presented by Mike's Beer Bar, host Christopher Carter welcomes Post-Gazette Steelers insider Ray Fittipaldo to discuss his observations from Senior Bowl practices this week in Mobile, Ala. Who has stood out in drills, especially at the Steelers' positions of need in the NFL draft that include offensive tackle and center? Why did coach Mike Tomlin appear to scout players including Oregon C Jackson Powers-Johnson, Oklahoma OT Tyler Guyton and Houston OT Patrick Paul most closely? Are Toledo CB Quinyon Mitchell and Michigan WR Roman Wilson skill players to watch after their interactions with Tomlin? And is quarterback a realistic position that the Steelers could target? Or are second-tier names like Oregon's Bo Nix and Washington's Michael Penix Jr. simply not clear upgrades on what the Steelers have in Kenny Pickett? Our duo tackles those questions and more. As the Denver Broncos, Sean Payton and George Paton mull over whether or not to move on from Russell Wilson, they must also decide if he's a better option than all of the other quarterbacks they could add in the offseason. If the team decides to move on from Wilson, their options in free agency will be limited due to the dead cap of Russ' contract. But the options might not be limited in the draft. In fact, there is buzz that Payton and the Broncos might be willing to trade up in the draft to land their QB of the future. Is there any truth to that? NFL Network insider James Palmer joins the show to break them down! Could that include USC's Caleb Williams, LSU's Jayden Daniels or UNC's Drake Maye? Or could it mean staying at 12 and drafting Oregon's Bo Nix, Washington's Michael Penix Jr. or Michigan's J.J. McCarthy? Denver also could turn to free agency, which includes names like Minnesota Vikings' QB Kirk Cousins, San Francisco 49ers' QB Sam Darnold, Tampa Bay Buccaneers' QB Baker Mayfield or New Orleans Saints' QB Jameis Winston. Should the Broncos be interested in trading for Chicago Bears QB Justin Fields or New England Patriots QB Mac Jones? We talk about the best options for the Broncos' QB of the future. Players like Georgia's Carson Beck, Ole Miss's Jaxson Dart, Texas's Quinn Ewers, Oregon's Dillon Gabriel, NC State's Grayson McCall, Alabama's Jalen Milroe, and Colorado's Shedeur Sanders are expected to play key roles with their experience and skills. After benching Russell Wilson, Sean Payton and the Denver Broncos are in the market for a new quarterback for the 2024 season. Since the Broncos won't have much cap space with an expected massive dead cap hit after moving on from Wilson, Denver will need to find a cost-controlled quarterback. That's why drafting a quarterback could make the most sense. If the Broncos do turn to the draft, which quarterback makes the most sense? Could Denver trade with the Chicago Bears to land the No. 1 overall pick and draft Caleb Williams or Drake Maye? If not, who is the third-best quarterback in the draft? Is it Washington's Michael Penix Jr., who has had a fanatic season, highlighted by a tremendous performance against Texas in the College Football Playoff semifinal? Or is the LSU's Heisman winner Jayden Daniels? How much would it cost the Broncos to trade up for either of those quarterbacks? If Denver doesn't trade up, could they land Oregon's Bo Nix or Michigan's J.J. McCarthy in the first round? Plus, NFL Network analyst Brian Baldinger joins us to break down Russell Wilson, Jarrett Stidham, the Broncos' final game of the season against the Las Vegas Raiders and where the Broncos and Sean Payton turn to moving forward. On the DNVR Broncos Podcast, Super Bowl 50 Champion Todd Davis, Zac Stevens and Henry Chisholm are coming to you LIVE from the DNVR Bar to break down all of the latest news in Broncos Country. LSU Tigers quarterback Jayden Daniels has won the 2023 Heisman Trophy, becoming the third quarterback in school history to be recognized for the award and the second LSU Tiger in just five seasons to be recognized as the greatest player in college football, just a few years after Joe Burrow won the award for his electrifying 2019 season with the Tigers. Daniels finished ahead of Washington's Michael Penix Jr., Oregon's Bo Nix, and Ohio State WR Marvin Harrison Jr. in that order in the voting. Daniels and the LSU Tigers had the worst record of all of the finalists, however it was Daniels' monstrous stats, both in the pass and run game, and his overall value to this LSU team that ultimately catapulted him to the best of the bunch. This, of course, is a massive honor for Daniels and a much deserved award for his performance this season. But what does it mean for the brand of LSU football, the future of the quarterback position, and recruiting for Brian Kelly and his staff? Support Us By Supporting Our Sponsors! Yogi Roth of the Pac-12 Network joins Dave Softy Mahler in New York City to talk about UW's Michael Penix and Oregon's Bo Nix being up for the Heisman Trophy tomorrow and their journeys to get to this point plus the Huskies playing Texas in the Sugar Bowl.
FOX Sports' lead college football analyst Joel Klatt reacts to the Heisman Finalists being announced as LSU's Jayden Daniels, Washington's Michael Penix Jr, Oregon's Bo Nix and Ohio State's Marvin Harrison Jr will all be making the trip to New York. He then dives into the news that over 1,000 players have already entered the Transfer Portal. Klatt considers the pros and cons of this era of immediate transfer eligibility. While he loves what it has provided many players, he also has some fixes to the system that he believes will help players and programs around the country achieve additional growth and stability. It was the last one ever played, and it was everything every UW fan could have asked for. The Washington Huskies made more history Friday night with their 34-31 win over Oregon to seal their third conference championship in the Pac-12 era, the final one ever to be played. On top of it, they picked up their 13th-straight win of the season and 20th in a row. In just his second season as head coach, Kalen DeBoer became the first head coach in school history to lead his team to a 13-0 season. The guys from Dawgman.com - Kim Grinolds from Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas and Chris Fetters and Scott Eklund in Seattle - got together post-game through the magic of technology and hashed out the main storylines of the game and what it all means. To start with, Kim set the scene, including the pregame thoughts about the turf and whether or not it might cause some issues during the game. Fortunately it really didn't become something that either team or its fans will talk about, but what UW fans will bring up for a long time to come is the redemption arc for both Michael Penix Jr. and Jalen McMillan. Penix, who out-dueled Oregon's Bo Nix in the desert, showed why he should be considered seriously for the Heisman Trophy, coming up with some key passes and runs to keep the Huskies on schedule even when the Ducks scored 21-straight unanswered in the middle of the game and took the lead in the third quarter. The senior quarterback for the Huskies was named the Pac-12 Championship Player of the Game after going 27-39 for 319 yards and one touchdown. And Jalen McMillan, who showed signs of life in the Apple Cup absolutely exploded on the scene Friday night, leading UW in catches with 9 catches for 131 yards. And if they could have given two POG awards, running back Dillon Johnson certainly earned his stripes, going for 152 yards and two scores on 28 carries, and doing it all while less than 100 percent. Kim went through the statistical breakdown and the guys also talked about UW's physicality all night long and how they stayed true to their identity even when adversity hit. After a quick break the guys get back at it and Kim relays some of the things Penix said post-game, including his thoughts on the fourth down touchdown pass to tight end Quentin Moore in the fourth quarter to give Washington a 10-point lead. They also talked about some of the repercussions of the win. Will Washington definitely go to the Rose Bowl now as part of the College Football Playoff? Kim relayed his own thoughts of being on the field post-game, including who he talked to and just the general sense of what it was like to be there. It's one of the biggest football weekends of the year, as college football will hold its annual conference championship games, which in turn will settle who will make the CFP in the last season of four teams before we go to 12 in 2024. Also, will it be Oregon's Bo Nix or LSU's Jayden Daniels as the Heisman Trophy winner. There's an excellent chance we'll know the answer when Friday's Pac-12 championship game is over. Lastly, what do we think about the Saints? Well, who better to ask all these questions than NOLA.com Saints editor Zach Ewing, who also is the former Sports Betting Director at Bet.NOLA.com? Zach fills in for Uncle Big Nick and joins Jim Derry on a Thursday Dattitude (Ep. 193).
In this episode of the Podcast of Champions hosts Ryan Abraham and David Woods are back in studio previewing what should be an exciting end to the Pac-12 football conference, a championship game in Las Vegas between 12-0 No. 3 ranked Washington and 11-1 No. 5 ranked Oregon. The Huskies have been in some close games but they have come out on the right end each and every week, posting the first ever undefeated conference season in the Pac-12 era. The Ducks have been blowing teams out left and right after their midseason loss to UW and they have revenge on their mind. Both teams have Heisman Trophy candidates at quarterback with Washington's Michael Penix and Oregon's Bo Nix, and both programs have a College Football Playoff berth on the line, which would be the conference's first since 2016. As usual Ryan and Dave end the podcast answering listener emails and questions from the YouTube chat. For the video simulcasts of our POC please subscribe to your YouTube channel! On today's show, there's a ton of roster movement already in the SEC, with guys declaring for the NFL draft like South Carolina QB Spencer Rattler & WR Dakereon Joyner, and Kentucky OL Kenneth Horsey, while some big names are entering the transfer portal including perhaps Arkansas QB KJ Jefferson. And the SEC has a chance at another Heisman winner in LSU's Jayden Daniels. We'll talk with Cody Worsham as he makes the case for Jayden to take home the hardware. Should Daniels win the award over Oregon's Bo Nix and Washington's Michael Penix? He's the SEC's lone chance to win the trophy this season and the join recent SEC winners like Bryce Young, DeVonta Smith and Joe Burrow. Welcome to our Thanksgiving episode! Before we dive into the wild world of sports, Mike and Jess discuss Turkey Day. Jess opposes the classic meal choices and is sick of turkey; Mike challenges her being over it all in her late 20s. Ham, roasted chicken, whatever your preference – they agree there is NO rule when it comes to the main dish. Changing topics to college football, Mike points out the match-up of the weekend will be Ohio State against Michigan. One team that wasn't on Jess' radar this season was Louisville, but now she has them in her conversations after they secured a spot in the ACC Championship game. They debate who is making the college football playoffs, as well as the Big 12 Championship game. Jess questions if it's going to be Texas and Oklahoma. Mike makes his case for the Heisman Trophy winner either being Oregon's Bo Nix or Washington's Michael Penix Jr. They can't leave CFB talk without ignoring the haters who keep poking at Notre Dame's independence and their contract with NBC (which has been going on for 33 years!) Moving on to breaking NFL news, Matt Canada was fired from the Steelers today. Jess isn't shocked they let Canada go but is more surprised that they made the decision mid-season. They breakdown the Steelers game against the Browns, the decision as a whole and what the team needs to do to make the playoffs. Staying on NFL, the Chiefs dropped the ball (literally) against the Eagles on MNF in a Super Bowl rematch. Jess has concerns with KC's problems moving forward. Golic and Smetty round out today recapping the fiasco that was the Las Vegas Grand Prix and if the race was a success. Have a great holiday and we'll see you next week! Oregon and Washington have met eight times as ranked opponents, but never with both teams ranked so high. The No. 8 Ducks are looking to avenge a 37-34 loss last season at Autzen Stadium when they travel to Seattle to face the No. 7 Huskies. Oregonian beat writers James Crepea and Nick Daschel join host Bill Oram to break down Saturday's matchup and to discuss the historical significance. Also discussed on this week's episode of the Oregonian Sports Podcast: • What makes this year's matchup in the rivalry so compelling • The dynamic between the two star quarterbacks: Oregon's Bo Nix and Washington's Michael Penix Jr. • If this game is the classic many expect, could it ever eclipse Kenny Wheaton's “pick” for greatest moments in the rivalry? Our panel is split. • Daschel shares some thoughts on Oregon State vs. UCLA, including why he think the Beavers' bigger tests lurk after the bye week Learn more about your ad choices. The Week 7 college football slate is particularly well-stocked with implication games, both on the CFB and 2024 NFL Draft landscape. Can Caleb Williams rebound against a tough Notre Dame defense? Who will win the duel between Washington's Michael Penix Jr. and Oregon's Bo Nix? Dalton Miller and Ian Cummings discuss on the latest episode of the PFN Scouting Podcast.
Big Noon Kickoff Presents: Bear Bets, a FOX Sports podcast hosted by betting expert Chris "The Bear" Fallica and former NFL offensive lineman Geoff Schwartz. Bear and Geoff start the show talking about the Miami-Georgia Tech late-game blunder in what was one of the worst betting turns of the football season. As a former player himself, Geoff talks about how you overcome a devastating loss like this. Next, Bear makes his Week 7 CFB picks, including NC State vs. Duke, Auburn vs. LSU and Miami vs. UNC. Can the Hurricanes get back on track? Later, he is joined by friends and sports betting analysts, Sam Panayotovich and Will Hill, also known as “The Gambling Group Chat.” The GGC discuss more big games in the Week 7 slate like the Pac-12 showdown between Oregon vs. Washington, USC vs. Notre Dame and UCLA vs. Oregon State. They also discuss the latest Heisman Trophy odds and whether or not Michigan's J.J. McCarthy and Georgia's Brock Bowers should be in the discussion. Bear and Geoff wrap the show offering their Best Bets of the week.
LSU quarterback Jayden Daniels has been playing absolutely out of his mind all season long. He has carried the LSU Tigers to their 4-2 record and did as much as he possibly could even in their two losses to Florida State and Ole Miss. Between his ability as a passer and threat with his legs, Daniels has proven to be more valuable to the LSU Tigers than any other player is to their respective team. Is it enough to get him to New York City as a Heisman Trophy finalist at the end of the season? Daniels currently has the sixth best odds to win the Heisman Trophy, behind Washington's Michael Penix Jr., USC's Caleb Williams, Oregon's Bo Nix, Oklahoma's Dillon Gabriel, and UNC's Drake Maye. Daniels passing stats are comparable to the quarterbacks with the best odds, having put up just shy of 2,000 passing yards through six games and 19 touchdowns with only two interceptions. But what Daniels has that separates him from not just the rest of the Heisman contenders but the rest of the country is his running ability. Daniels without a doubt is the best running quarterback in the country, as reflected by his 75 carries for 422 yards and four touchdowns. Daniels is the seventh leading rusher in the SEC, racking up more yards than seven starting running backs in the SEC. He makes massive throws, takes care of the football, and the imminent threat of his run game forces defenses to pay attention to his escapability. He is doing something that no other player in America can do – that alone should be deserving of an invitation to the Heisman Trophy ceremony in December. But what is left for Jayden Daniels to do? What must he, and the entire LSU Tigers football team, need to do in order to solidify his spot in NYC? Today on the Logan Blackman Show we take some time out of our day to make fun of some insanely early NFL pre-season predictions, which will definitely not bite us in the ass when the season ends in January. We then take part in a recent Twitter trend, where we go and name our four favorite quarterbacks, to watch, of all time, with some possible surprise inclusions among the four. Sticking with the quarterback position, we go back and reveal some of the changes we made to our recently released quarterback prospect rankings for the 2024 NFL Draft (the post hadn't been changed, but the order from Friday's show had). With that, we go over why we think the likes of Michigan's JJ McCarthy and Tennessee's Joe Milton are potentially better 'prospects' than the likes of Washington's Michael Penix Jr. and Oregon's Bo Nix. Finally, we try to figure out every NFL teams 'GOAT,' going off a prompt we saw from Fan Duel. Enjoy the show!

As Washington prepares for its Alamo Bowl matchup with Texas, the boys celebrate the news that Bralen Trice and ZTF will be returning to UW in 2023. Then they talk all kind of Husky football stuff, including wanting to beat Sark, reliving the defensive shitshow of the 2011 Alamo Bowl, rejoicing over Quinn Ewes anemic rushing stats, and mini dives into the 2010 Boise State Broncos, ASU Sun Devils and Arizona Wildcats. Also, the boys think its pathetic that Oregon's Bo Nix is being allowed to return for another season when he's already played four full seasons of college football. Oh, and Derek goes on a mini rant on how Andre Ware should have never won the 1989 Heisman Trophy. The show opens with a Cowboy Pup reading of an old rant. On Saturday in a 70-14 rout of Eastern Washington, Oregon's Bo Nix threw for a career-high 5 touchdowns as the Ducks got Dan Lanning his first career victory as a head coach. For Oregon to win this Saturday against #12 BYU, he will have to look more like he did on Saturday than in the season opener against Georgia. On today's episode of Locked On Ducks, Spencer McLaughlin discusses Oregon's starting quarterback heading into a top-25 matchup with the BYU Cougars this week. He also shares one other thought on Oregon's defense that stood out from Saturday's win--and not in a positive way. Noah Sewell has been a first-team all-Pac 12 performer during his career in Eugene, but has been quiet by his standards through the Ducks' first two games. Spencer dives into why the defense's leader coming into the season has not played to his full potential up to this point. Support Us By Supporting Our Sponsors!
