In Episode 452 of Driving Law, Kyla Lee and Paul Doroshenko discuss a Vancouver driver who allegedly tried to avoid paying for parking by placing an old parking ticket on their windshield — and whether that could amount to fraud or using a forged document. They also break down a troubling Ontario case where a prosecutor was accused of berating a police officer for giving evidence favourable to the defence, leading a judge to stay serious criminal charges as an abuse of process. Kyla and Paul examine why the decision raises larger concerns about police culture, prosecutorial conduct, and public confidence in the justice system. Plus, they discuss the viral Surrey motorcycle crash video, the growing problem of AI-generated evidence online, and the Ridiculous Driver of the Week involving teenagers riding in the back of a rented U-Haul on the May long weekend. Hawaii is owed nearly $15.3 million from unpaid parking tickets since Act 59 passed in 2020. The law change gives the state only one option to punish those who don't pay, and even that has limitations. "I just throw it in a drawer or put it in my glove compartment and then forget about it," said a Honolulu woman with a handful of outstanding tickets. HNN Investigates discovered just how many ignore the citations: 215,208 tickets went unpaid between 2020 and 2025. The top five have hundreds on record. Last work day for almost two weeks for me. We've got the CMN Radiothon tomorrow & Friday and I'll be at Gundersen from 6am until noon tomorrow and then it's packing…packing…and more packing as we get ready to leave early Friday morning for NH. In the news this morning, an update on the closing of the Black Hawk bridge in Lansing, a recall on Toyotas, the victim of Mark Sanchez is suing, and a bunch of people stuck on Mount Everest are finally getting rescued. In sports, the Mariners & Yankees won yesterday and we looked at today's MLB playoff schedule. Also, the WNBA Finals continue tonight, and the NFL Week 6 kicks off tomorrow night on Prime. We let you know what's on TV today/tonight and we discussed Dolly Parton's recent health scare. Made our weeks 6 & 7 Pigskin Picks as I'll be out of town next Wednesday. And Doc joined us just after 8am for this week's Racing Report thanks to County Materials. Cool story about a tour driver in Africa who went on safari thanks to some of his customers…and check out this dog who found a special friend! Crazy scene in Pittsburgh as they've already put their Christmas tree up in the city's plaza for the holidays. Today is "National Fluffernutter Day", so enjoy a delicious, cavity-inducing sammich later today. Ran down a list of the safest states in America. And in today's edition of "Bad News with Happy Music", we had stories about a stolen dinosaur statue at a gas station in CA, a new product from Airheads just in time for Halloween, a French "influencer" who's going to jail for a sick prank, a Missouri man who got arrested for robbery when the cops found him wearing the same underwear he had on during the robbery, Long John Silver apparently didn't learn the lesson that Cracker Barrel just endured, and an argument over a NASCAR shirt turned violent.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

Jesse explores the value of financial priorities and the balance between spending and saving with guests Diania Merriam, Justin Peters, Bill Yount, Jeremy Schneider, Doc G, and Joe Saul-Sehy. Diania highlights the “iceberg principle” of stealth wealth—how true wealth is often what you don't see, like deferred purchases and unspent money. Justin shares a personal story about the cost and memories of boat ownership, emphasizing the lesson to buy utility and rent luxury. Bill discusses the different seasons of life in relation to frugality and spending, while Jeremy reflects on ingrained money habits persisting despite sudden wealth. Doc G and Joe Saul-Sehy add their unique perspectives on personal finance and the emotional relationship with money. Together, they unpack how financial decisions shape our lives, the importance of aligning spending with values, and the lessons learned from both scrimping and splurging. Key Takeaways: • Financial freedom doesn't always come with a clear sense of how to enjoy money meaningfully. • Renting luxury experiences can be more satisfying and economical than owning them. • Time, health, and family often become more valuable than money as people grow older. • Community and shared experiences often bring more satisfaction than expensive possessions. Lifestyle upgrades need to be aligned with personal values to feel meaningful. • Former spendthrifts can struggle just as much with letting go of financial vigilance. • Understanding your money story is key to shifting your habits and mindset with intention. Even the financially savvy can be blindsided by lifestyle creep and emotional spending.
