Even the best sellers must overcome the feeling of burnout at one point or another. But how can we maintain performance while finding time for our physical and mental health? In today's episode of The Sales Evangelist, Donald is joined by Chris Prangley to discuss his own experience with burnout and how any seller can maintain success and momentum in their careers. Making good money can also come with stress: Review your ‘why' to maintain motivation toward your financial goals or realign with your company mission and personal goals. If you don't maintain your health and well-being, you'll eventually burn out. How do you determine why you do what you do? Making a certain amount of money is a great goal, but it is not a ‘why.' Instead, it should be more profound and connected to who you are. You'll find the most success at the intersection of your why and the company's mission. Try journaling about your traits and values to determine what you care about and continue to explore that. Look for the niche that excites you. What about the company or industry intrigues, inspires, and motivates you to sell it? Five things sellers can do to get recharged and handle burnout: Get out of the country at least once per year. Depart your normal and discover new cultures. The power of massage is incredible. Sitting at a desk all day can lead to tension and stress you don't realize is present. Work out or exercise early in the morning; you'll have more energy and be more productive. End your day with journaling, praying, or just expressing gratitude for what's happening in your life. When you have an exhausting day, turn on your favorite song and spend a few minutes dancing. Find the things that work for you because we're all different, and different things will recharge us. Chris's major takeaway? Know that it's okay to feel overwhelmed. But there are amazing tools you can use to continue reaching your goals. Check out Chris's book, Tech Sales Warrior, available on Amazon and connect with him on LinkedIn or his company website at techsaleswarrior.com/. This episode is brought to you in part by Skipio. I bet nearly everyone has had expectations of what their body should look like or be able to do. These ideas come from many places, unusually external and unhealthy ones. Yet, when you fail to live up to them, grief and unhealthy habits commonly result. Today’s guest helps her clients reframe how they understand their bodies so that they can build new healthier mindsets and practices. About Steph Prangley Steph Prangley is a Nutritional Therapy Practitioner and owner of Infinity Hill Nutrition, a virtual private practice specializing in women’s hormone health. She helps women with PCOS gain energy, improve ovulation, and stabilize moods so they can accomplish all of their important life goals while being fully present in their relationships. Steph believes it’s possible to gain freedom from the painful and embarrassing symptoms of PCOS by reframing body grief to body acceptance and learning how to trust your body and read its signals. With compassion and kindness, she gently guides her clients with mindset work, nutrition, lifestyle, and their own intuition to build body trust and successfully manage symptoms for the long run. Reversing the Disconnection Between You and Your Body Body grief gets in the way of healing. It removes you from the present moment as you grieve for the loss of some imaginary future or the way your body used to be. Steph describes how this disconnect can be reversed by accepting and honoring your body. Once this is achieved, you can learn how to listen to what your body is telling you. When you understand your body’s signals you can cut through all the outside noise of society, positive changes will follow. With this comes the understanding that healing is not only possible, but you’re in control of it. An Intuitive Approach to Healing As you can imagine, mindset is central to this. It’s important to remember that just because somebody has an “ideal” body, it doesn’t mean that they’re happy. Detaching your emotional state from health outcomes while also working towards your goal is the key here. Steph teaches her clients to do this by helping them hone their intuitive senses. When you find yourself craving food or feeling a certain way, it’s time to stop and examine the source of those feelings. This approach helps you remove self-judgment and identify healthy choices for your body. How can you start intuitively listening to your body’s signals? Leave a comment on the episode page! But when you have to say no to the things that you love doing, that’s a whole new level of grief, or emotional grief that you have to deal with.” [15:34] “Humans are messy and we make mistakes. Our life changes. Thankfully we’re adaptable and we can ebb and flow with that. I think we get into trouble when we try to make things flat and straight with no variability.” [24:32] “You’re the only expert in your body. I can’t even really tell you what to eat. I can give you education on the science behind nutrients and what we know about how all of these things play into our health overall, but the only long-term strategy we can have is getting in touch with the inner-self.” [47:16] Review Fed and Fearless on Apple Podcasts! Welcome to the 6th Round Retro Post-Fight Show. This is the show that digs into the archives and gives you a comprehensive review of classic MMA events, that span as far back as UFC 1. Join Eddie Mercado & Victor Rodriguez as they relive the Bellator 58: ‘Chandler vs. Alvarez’ event this week, complete with results, analysis, and of course a few laughs. As mentioned, this week we feature the Nov 19th, 2011, Bellator 58: ‘Iron' MIchael Chandler vs. Eddie ‘The Underground King’ Alvarez’ event. This event we’re covering today was a jam-packed nine-bout card, which was a mixed bag with a couple subs, a couple KO's, and a few decisions, along with one DQ. The show went down on SPIKE.tv from the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Hollywood, FL. The main event that night showcased a battle for the Bellator MMA Lightweight Championship with MMA icon Eddie Alvarez facing then up-and-comer Michael Chandler. Battling it out for the title that night, no one expected them to go the entire five rounds, but what they really weren't expecting was a 4th Round Sub from the young undefeated 'Iron Mike'. Chandler was able to secure the ‘W’ via a wicked Rear Naked Choke to the talented Alvarez. Chandler entered the bout with a 9-0 record at this point in his fledgling career, including his recent victory over Patricky Pitbull. ‘The Underground King’ was entering the octagon after a six and a half month break, on a seven-fight win streak, with a record at that point of 22-2. In the co-main event, we watched Hector ‘Showeather’ Lombard quickly put an end to Trevor Prangley, via Punches at 1:06 of the second round. To refresh your memory, at this point #Lombard had a 31-1 fight record, while this was Prangley's Bellator debut, despite a professional fight record of 24-8 at the time... he never fought in Bellator again after this loss. The rest of the card was pretty decent, with a women's bout between Jessica Aguilar and Lisa Ellis, which was preceded by a sub, a KO, a few decisions and that DQ -- which was due to an illegal kick between Herbert Goodman and Jonas Billstein. The venue consisted of Sean Wheelock & Jimmy Smith at the announcers table, Michael C. Williams as the Ring Announcer, with around 269,000 average viewers on Spike TV. Let’s check it out! If you wanna take a look at the card, complete with fight results, it;s right here: MAIN CARD PPV: 9. MAIN EVENT Lightweight Championship: Michael Chandler DEF. LMNT This podcast is Supported by LMNT, I have been looking for a company for years like LMNT, that makes clean and easy electrolyte supplementation, for both myself, my husband, and my kids, and I have repeatedly come up short—until now. Every message sent through your nervous system (including your brain) involves electrical transmissions—or nerve impulses. You need electrolytes in order for nerve impulses to fire. The problem is, you lose electrolytes through sweat, urine, and feces—and they have to be replaced through diet and supplementation. And that need increases significantly if you’re exercising regularly and sweating, or if you’re following a whole foods diet. LMNT makes grab and go electrolyte replacement supplementation. You just take an LMNT recharge packet, mix it up with water, and sip! There’s absolutely no sugar, gluten, fillers, artificial ingredients, and it’s paleo friendly. To grab packets of LMNT recharge, go to drinkLMNT.com/wellfed, there you’ll get free shipping on all orders. There’s also a money back guarantee, so if you don’t like it, you can send it back. Grab yourself some packets to have on hand!

Young Southpaw chats to David Ryder Prangley about his debut solo album Black Magic & True Love, KISS & their solo albums, Shampoo & swatches, Twin Peaks, and Prangley’s Great Van Halen Smiths Theory, leading Southpaw to conjecture post-interview ‘what if Johnny Marr had joined KISS?’https://davidryderprangley1.bandcamp.com/Young Southpaw: What’s your favourite of the KISS solo records?David Ryder Prangley: I think they’re actually all amazing. Some KISS fans judge them by how much they sound like regular KISS records. Which to me is obviously not the point of them, they don’t really sound like KISS records. Gene Simmons’ album is just incredible, with all those guest artists on it, and the orchestration, and the fact that all the songs kinda sound a bit like The Beatles. I think they’re great. And even Peter Criss’ solo album, which people were just like ‘it’s kinda like an easy listening album’, but there’s some great songs on that and he’s got a fantastic voice. I like them all for different reasons. I think Paul Stanley’s solo album is incredibly exciting. And the guitar sound on it is just phenomenal. Then you got Ace’s album which is...he doesn’t go around the obvious pop songwriting route, he goes down the real almost like Black Sabbath - here’s a riff and here it is for five minutes (laughs). And I love that. And the kind of weird...on his album he was using the early Roland guitar synth and it’s just totally out of tune. You listen to it and you’re like ‘it’s completely out of tune’, but it’s still on there. And I love all that stuff. It’s really exciting. When I was a kid, they were the first band that I got into, that I discovered myself, cause I was really into Marvel comics. You’d see the adverts, and it didn’t even say it was a band. It would just go KISS...nothing (laughs). And it was like ‘what is this? are these some superheroes or what?’ And at the time I was just really into music and Marvel comics and Star Wars, and then KISS come along and they’re like the perfect blend of science fiction and rock n’ roll.

Give it Some Time and Enjoy the Creative Process Along the Way It may feel impossible getting exposure when you’re just starting to pursue your creative path. Believe me, I’ve been there. I spent over 25 years of my life believing that having a successful art career was impossible. As I’ve become more intentional with my side projects and have seen the potential, my mindset has drastically shifted. Think about it, technology is in your favor if you start today. It’s so easy to connect with someone on the opposite side of the globe within seconds. Not to mention that more and more people in the world are getting access to the internet every day. I really do believe that you are one scroll or swipe away from having your life changed. Creating the right side project(s) and following these 3 ingredients will aid you in getting more exposure for your work. These ingredients are: Research Consistency Shareability Obviously, you could say there are more ingredients, but I believe these 3 are great to keep top of mind. Research You might get lucky and stumble across an audience waiting to devour your style. However, I’d recommend doing a bit of research to have a plan. I feel the best, yet the most saturated market out there is Instagram for getting your work noticed. It’s the top platform for engagement right now and I’ve seen many friends blow up and create a thriving creative career from it. No matter the social platform you choose, research the best ways to utilize the strengths of the platform as you share your work. I started using Instagram seriously close to 3 years ago when I first became addicted to hand lettering. It started off with me throwing work out randomly until I noticed there were specific accounts and hashtags that surrounded this type of style of work I was producing. For example, there is the monstrous account of Goodtype that has well over 725K followers curated by my friend Brooke Bucherie. I remember when she had under 10K! Just to note, Goodtype started off as a side project and has evolved dramatically to become more than just an Instagram account. I noticed that she featured people’s lettering work who used the profile hashtags of #Goodtype and #strengthinletters on their lettering posts. I began using those hashtags and pushing my skills every day and ended up catching my first feature. Safe to say I was hooked. There were other accounts that were similar to Goodtype such as The Daily Type, Typespire, Type Gang and Calligritype that helped me build my account and get exposure through features as well. Tools for Social Analytics Another way I approach my research is with analytic tools such as Business Page Insights through Instagram and Iconosquare. These tools show you metrics such as your: Most liked photos / videos Most commented on photos / videos Least liked photos / videos Least commented on photos / videos New vs lost followers per given time Best times for posting Age range of follower Top states or countries following you Understanding these metrics lets you know what type of work people are engaging with and when you should be posting. With some research and experimentation, you can begin formulating a strategy while creating your own style that speaks to you and your future audience. Consistency We live in a microwave era where people expect instant gratification and get discouraged when they don’t see immediate results. The reason many creatives get exposure is because they are consistent and people know what to expect. I follow people or accounts on social media strictly because they post work I’m inspired by and are posting daily or at a consistent time weekly. 2 friends, I follow due to their consistent quality work are Bob Ewing and Charli Prangley. Being consistent has boosted their creative careers outside of their social presence. #Hashtaglettering With Bob Ewing Starting with Bob, he began hand lettering around the same time that I did as he took on the 365 daily challenge. Meaning he hand lettered a word for every day of the year. Not only did he reach his goal but he ended up extending it to a whopping 534 consecutive days! Not only did he improve his lettering skills, but he is now considered one of the revered names in a thriving lettering community. This has led to him getting great lettering projects, public speaking and workshop opportunities while building amazing relationships within the creative community. Video Content With Charli The other great example of consistency is Charli. She built her career on Youtube by pumping out insightful content targeted to designers on her Youtube Channel: CharliMarieTV. Over this period of time, she’s amassed a following of over 40K subscribers. She’s been posting 2 videos a week for over 3 years! Oh ya, did I forget to mention that she also co-hosts the Design Life Podcast with the talented Femke for over a year now too? On top of her drive, she is just a genuine and funny human being. Her hard work has landed her major opportunities such as her recent job of joining Nathan Barry’s ConvertKit staff. As you can see, being consistent over time can make some pretty incredible things happen. Shareability First off, I’m not talking about focusing on creating trendy work to go viral. What I’m referring to is creating genuine work that is: funny relatable inspiring entertaining Instead of worrying about expensive targeted ads to force feed people your work, product or services; focus on creating something that can spark an emotion. If you can immediately make someone stop and: tag someone in your comments repost or retweet your video text a link to their friends with the message, “Dude, you’ve got to see this!” You know you’re doing something right. Ketchup Calligraphy Sharing Awhile back I posted a video called Ketchup Calligraphy. I made a quote saying “You’re the Ketchup to my Fries” while spelling ketchup with a ketchup bottle and fries with actual fries. I use a lot of ketchup and this was just a funny concept to express my love for it. This ended up getting featured by million follower accounts like Art Worldly and by the entrepreneur influencer Tai Lopez. What made it even better is that they prompted people in the description to “tag” someone who is the ketchup to their fries. Next thing you know you have hundreds of people getting tagged to see this post and then all the traffic directs back to my account. Here’s a quick tip, when you catch on to your work that is getting shared the most on Instagram, you can start giving prompts for people to tag someone who can relate below in the comments. I think you’ll be surprised with the results if you experiment. By focusing on work that is shareable, it may very well go viral across social. However, don’t create solely to go viral as you’re setting yourself up for defeat. Don’t force it—create work that resonates with you that can leave an emotional impression on an audience. Getting Exposure Takes Time I’ve seen people blow up over a year and then there is people like me who have been chipping away over the course of years. These things take time but I’ve noticed that the ones who blew up more quickly than I knew their research and audience and they posted more shareable work more often than I did. More power to them, but I’m learning more and more as I go and sharing with you what I learn along the way. I wish I would’ve had these 3 ingredients top of mind when I started sharing art under my side project of Perspective-Collective and that’s why I share it with you now. It’s rare to watch a side project blow up over night. That’s why I stress the long game as I’ve found the most fulfillment within the creative process and I enjoy the daily challenge of building this into something greater than myself. So what’s that project you’ve been wanting to pursue? What’s holding you back? There’s never been a better time than now to start and technology is playing in your favor down the road. Scratch that creative itch and start your side project today. Key Takeaways Technology is in your favor if you start today. You are one scroll or swipe away from having your life changed The reason many creatives get exposure is because they are consistent and people know what to expect. Being consistent can boost your creative career outside of social media.
