But how do we effectively prepare our children to not only survive in a world that seems increasingly hostile to our values but set them up to be the ones who can correct the ship?Join our community chat: https://bit.ly/43zQDLNSubscribe to the MTA channel: https://bit.ly/MTAVideoYTInterview with @VictorMarx : https://youtu.be/3CYwggpg4DI

This includes memorizing lengthy passages of God's Word and other powerful truths. Check out how Kevin and Bonnie have made this happen in their family.
Welcoming Kevin and Bonnie Kookogey to the podcast today. Kevin and Bonnie have been homeschooling for over 20 years. What does it take to launch your kids well? Dennis Rainey, Alex Chediak, and Michelle Hill cover the value of independence, friendship, time management, faith, good friends, and ramen noodles.
Jayme Stokes views her job as a Principal of Ouachita Christian School as both a calling and a ministry. With over 30 years in education, Jayme has a wealth of knowledge of how we can prepare our children for time and eternity. No stranger to pain, Jayme has experienced many challenges and endured much loss, yet she has allowed it to teach her to live with intentionality and lean on her faithful God. That is why her favorite hashtag is #teachmetonumbermydays! Below are some of our favorite takeaways from today's show: ️ There is hope for parents who feel as if they have “messed up” with their children because God is working to make it part of their story for the Kingdom. When we willfully give our children to God, He will work it out for their good. ️ Look for the fingerprints of God. Not every situation is good, but what God will bring out of our lives will be good if we allow Him to heal us. ️ It is healthy for our children to struggle with the question of “is God real?” Keeping an open dialogue with them will allow them to come back to God when something falls apart in their world. ️ Everything that passes through our lives has already passed through God's hands and He is equipping us for it. Reading the Psalms gives us perspective on every facet of our lives, including anxiety and depression. ️ Our children want us to be a safe place for them. Letting them unload their emotions/feelings to us helps free them from their worries. About Our Guest: Jayme Stokes is married to Bobby (aka “Big Bob”) and together they have four children and nine grandchildren. She holds multiple degrees in education and currently serves as the Principal at Ouachita Christian School as well as a dual enrollment and online psychology instructor. Jayme enjoys reading, growing heirloom roses, and travel. You can follow her blog at www.shelteredingrace.com

This is why it is crucial no matter what age we are or what we think we know, we strive for more. Today I dive into a story about a young man applying for a job and starting his new life. Join Jim Mason (HSLDA Vice President of Litigation and Development) as he chats with Wil and Meeke Addison of American Family Radio about their homeschool journey. They'll discuss common misconceptions about homeschooling, hot-button cultural issues relating to education, and how Wil and Meeke went from being college campus missionaries to radio show hosts. “What we found really worked for us because it pushed our son; he was already pretty advanced. And it also created a family environment for our girls. They were so splintered: ‘I'm this age, so this is my group of friends.' And, ‘I don't connect with this sibling and this sibling is annoying.' And what we quickly saw was that the family was restored. They began to like each other. They were each other's friends, and it was something that was really beautiful to watch.” — Meeke Addison

Today we are talking about preparing your children to leave home. We want our children equipped to leave and live on their own. Parents need a clear vision for their sons and daughters, and they need to pray for guidance from the Lord. Mark shares the lessons he has learned after launching 6 of his 7 children. Shawn and Micah talk about some of the things that their parents did to prepare them to leave home after graduating. We talk about how to develop a vision for raising our children. And we discuss some of the foundational things we want to teach our children before they leave. The Bible clearly teaches that men and women have equal, but different, roles. We discuss the difference between raising daughters and sones, including how to prepare young men to lead their families, and how to affirm and prepare our daughters to be wives and mothers. We begin with quick discussion of current events, including our thoughts on Vice President Pence's speech at the March for Life. He urges love, gentleness and generosity among Christians in the pro-life movement. We also have a few comments about President Trump's current immigration order and the current status of the refugees, with more to come on this next week. Also, today is the last day to enter our book giveaway. Just leave a comment with a topic suggestion to be entered to win. We appreciate your feedback!
