2025-05-11: This week, we begin a new series called "To be continued...". We will consider the growth of the early church and how we are still a part of that ongoing story today. How did the movement Jesus started 2000 years ago transform the entire Roman world in two hundred years and eventually find its way around the globe? On top of the resurrection event that turned skeptics into believers, there was another event. Fifty days after the resurrection, something cataclysmic happened that completely transformed individuals and communities. In fact, Jesus said the mission he gave his disciples wouldn't be possible without it. It was critical then, and it is just as critical today.

In this episode of 420 Reasons Why I Quit Drinking, I explore the fear of not having enough—that anxious urge to over-prepare, especially when it comes to alcohol. I share a memory from a friend's wedding, where we packed our own roadies and backup booze, just in case. And good thing (or so we thought), because there was only one bottle of wine per table of eight—barely enough for one of us, let alone the whole group. That moment made me reflect on a deeper pattern. Even now, I catch myself doing the same thing—overpacking my car for work trips, bringing way more than I need, driven by that old fear of what if I don't have enough? This episode is about recognizing those lingering mindsets, how they show up in unexpected ways, and how choosing trust over fear has opened the door to true freedom and peace.

Key trends include that women are stepping upand there are more women in leadership seats. Another trend Jenn sees is the burnout and exiting (“The Great Breakup”) at record pace. She states havingwomen at the table is important to make good business decisions that represent women in most customer bases. 2. Knowing our personal values and what drives us can fill our cup. Bringing the energy or electricity and knowing what fills us up, allows us to show up as leaders we want to be. When a lifetime of raising children ends and the season of empty nesting begins, there are things to hold onto and things to let go of. Jill Savage is a prolific author and marriage coach, and she encourages parents to let go of three major things when their kids leave the home: expectations, traditions, and opinions. She explains in detail why each of these elements needs to be surrendered to the Lord, and how parents can navigate the drastic changes in life as their children begin to find their independence and start their own families. We will all have regrets as parents, but don't let that deter you from building a flourishing life as you learn to build a different type of relationship with your new adult children! “Prayer is key to developing a heart of compassion.” - @eugeneseow12 We had the privilege of having Eugene Seow with us at service, for week three of the “Caught Up in God's Story” series. Sharing from Matthew 9:36, Eugene spoke about the compassion Jesus had for the multitudes, and Jesus' call for harvesters even as the harvest is plentiful. Yet, the biggest hurdle holding the church back from reaching out to the lost is compassion. Developing Jesus' heart of compassion requires us to: 1. Open our eyes to see the crowd 2. Open our hands to meet their needs and 3. Open our hearts to ask God to grant us His heart for the lost We hope you were blessed and inspired by the word to take decisive action and pray into how we may meet the needs of the communities around us as the body of Christ.

Huge shocker incoming: Zach Broyles made a Tube Screamer. The Mythos Envy Pro Overdrive is Zach's take on the green apple of his eye, with some special tweaks including increased output, more drive sounds, and a low-end boost option. Does this mean he can clear out his collection of TS-9s? Of course not. This time on Dipped in Tone, Rhett and Zach welcome Tyler Bryant, the Texas-bred and Nashville-based rocker who has made waves with his band the Shakedown, who Rhett credits as one of his favorite groups. Bryant, it turns out, is a TS-head himself, having learned to love the pedal thanks to its being found everywhere in Texas guitar circles.Bryant shares how he scraped together a band after dropping out of high school and moving to Nashville, including the rigors of 15-hour drives for 30-minute sets in a trusty Ford Expedition. He's lived the dream (or nightmare, depending on the day) and has the wisdom to show it.Throughout the chat, the gang covers modeling amps and why modern rock bands still need amps on stage; the ins and outs of recording-gear rabbit holes and getting great sounds; and the differences between American and European audiences. Many couples feel a mix of emotions, from relief to uncertainty, and even fear about how their marriage will change. What We'll Cover:Why the Empty Nest Phase Can Be a New BeginningWith the kids out of the house, you may find yourself wondering, “What's next?” You're no longer the needed parent 24/7, and the routines that kept you busy are gone. But this new season can actually be a beautiful opportunity to rediscover and strengthen the bond between you and your spouse. The Struggles Couples Face in ReconnectingMany couples find that without the kids, they feel a bit like strangers. Life transitions are sprinkled with possibility. They invite adventure and hope. They can also force us to look inward, to reevaluate our life choices. They can beget sadness and regret, a mourning over the passage of time. There's nothing like kids getting older to remind us how it goes so fast.Mary Louise Kelly writes out these very issues in her memoir It. Goes. So. Fast. It is a heartfelt chronicle of her eldest child's final year at home, the death of her father, and other curve-balls in her life that forced her to reckon with her evolving roles as a parent, mother, daughter and wife. On this very special episode of Beyond the Prescription, Mary Louise describes the emotional and physical manifestations of grief, the bittersweet moment of sending a child to college, and the heartbreak of losing a parent and ending a marriage. It turns out that even a woman who “has it all” isn't immune to feelings of regret and sadness over the passage of time. Mary Louise's authentic voice provides reassurance and hope that we are all caregivers at heart, doing the best we can with the time we are given. On this podcast episode I go over my Lessons Learned from my unsuccessful attempt of the CISSP exam. What I did right: 1. Purchased the "Peace of Mind" voucher (Basically two tries for the price ofone, or almost one) #1 is why I took some calculated risk during this prep. 2. During the exam I used the Think Like A Manager method. 3. I used the from an assessment exam to identify my weakest areas. 4. I mapped my CISSP morning. (Wake-up, Get ready, and Leave Home alarms) What I did wrong: 1. I waited too late to take my assessment test that identifies your weak domains. 2. Assessment test should have been 100 questions instead of just 50. 3. Did not get to study one of my weakest domains. 4. Didn't get a lot of practice testing in. 5. Didn't practice test enough to be comfortable with clock management during exam. Game Plan: 1. Focuse on weak areas from actual exam attempt. 2. Take assessment test of at least 100 questions to re-evaluate weak areas. 3. Get plenty of practice testing in. --- Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/blakcyber/support

In this week's episode of "Agony Aunties," our discussion focuses on a parent finding their purpose as their children have grow up and left home. And so, we'll talk about the importance of starting with self-awareness and exploration, and how mindfulness can help, along with small steps towards activities that bring joy or spark curiosity. On a broader scope, we'll also talk about a concept that we've covered a few times already - the fertile void - where we transition from the end of one major undertaking to another. And we'll also mention the importance of self-compassion at this time, and how it might be useful to look for inspiration from others' paths.
