In this episode of Molecule to Market, you'll go inside the outsourcing space of the global drug development sector with Will Patrick, CEO at Culture Biosciences. Your host, Raman Sehgal, discusses the pharmaceutical and biotechnology supply chain with Will, covering: How time at Google, MIT and Kendall Square led him to build disruptive tools and hardware for the bioprocessing sector Creating a cloud-based, real-time data alternative for companies wanting access to bioreactors... without the need for large-scale investment Why biotech and biopharma firms are embracing digitization, virtualization, and simulation... but less so at CDMOs Raising funds from VCs that understand the need for technological disruption How biotechs, biopharma companies, and CDMOs alike can leverage Culture's proprietary, integrated, and cloud-based single-use reactor platform How enhanced data-driven modeling and simulation can save a lot of time and costs in upstream bioprocess development going forward Will is an entrepreneurial engineer with a background in mechanical engineering, product design, and bioengineering. He develops hardware products at the interface of biology and digital fabrication. He holds 17 patents and has published 4 peer-reviewed journal articles. He currently runs Culture Biosciences, a company building and operating automated bioreactor infrastructure for the biotech industry. Will graduated from the MIT Media Lab in 2015 where he was a researcher in the Mediated Matter group. His research focuses on 3D printing fluidic systems and their applications in biotechnology and product design. Previously, he worked at Google[x] as a Rapid Evaluator where he developed and prototyped new projects for the organization. Will was a founding member of the Google[x] UAV delivery project, Project Wing, was an early team member of Project Loon, and also led the launch communications for Project Glass. We've officially rolled out our new Walmart app and website to 100% of customers! This means everyone is now able to see and purchase all of our items and services in one place - no more toggling between two separate apps. It's a significant milestone of “Project Glass.” We named it after our late former CEO David Glass, who brought grocery and general merchandise together into the Supercenter. Building a single omnichannel platform has been a large undertaking and required the close partnership of several teams including Technology, Design, Business and Product. Meng Chee is our Chief Product Officer, and he joined John Furner on The Huddle to talk about how we're continuing to reduce friction for both our customers and associates.

“We can only see what we’ve become conscious of.” – Michaël Harboun Michaël Harboun wants to design products that find a balance between inner contemplation and external technology. The concept video for his augmented reality project Transcendenz illustrates the positive potential of finding such a balance. In this episode Michaël and host Vincent Horn discuss the philosophical goals of Transcendenz, the fact and fiction of the current state of some of the technologies portrayed in the concept video–like augmented reality and computer brain interfaces–and finally the way that Buddhist thought has influenced this project. Just like last week's show but with lots more flipping the shit out! This week, the gang weighs in on all the awesome stuff at Google I/O, the perplexingly awful Nexus Q and the actual possibility of Victor owning an Android device.
Google announced on Wednesday of their I/O Developer Conference something that is truly extraordinary. Project Glass that was rumored to be nothing more than a skunkworks project by Google X has been showcased in dramatic fashion (listen in for some thoughts on the skydiving entrance) while allowing US based developers to pre-order a copy for $1500, if they went to I/O. Craig and Sean discuss how these could be the first truly game changing technology of the decade. What implications do these devices have for the consumer and business space? Will everyone be wearing these within the next few years? And is there any company trying to or positioned to compete with a piece of Google bred glasses?
