Time for some fun fiends! This week we telling you true tales that we were inspired to find by Goosebumps novels! These are not the stories RL Stein based his work on but they are similar and the exercise took us on quite the wild ride. Leslie takes on "Piano Lessons Can Be Murder" with the mysterious and multilayered case of the murder of Darlene Sitler. Holly was inspired by "Say Cheese and Die" to share with us a true ghost story from the Myrtles Plantation in St. Francis Louisiana. Holly can never choose just one story so she was also inspired but "Night of the Living Dummy" to tell us about a famously haunted ventriloquist's dummy named Mr. Fritz. And, it wouldn't be an episode about WWBD without s few little extras along the way, so look for a fun little bio on RL Stein, A random exploration of the Whiskey rebellion and a game! There is nothing more nostalgic for me than good old Goosebumps books. I remember the way they smelled, the way they made me wet the bed, the hours I spent trying to trace the cover art. I remember auditioning for acting gigs for the TV Show and questioning if RL Stein was a real-life monster. For those of you who don't know these literal classics well, Goosebumps was the Creepy Pastas of my generation... Readers get to discover the horror genre without the gore, or foul language presented in mature films. The whole Goosebumps franchise is built in a way for young adults and children to experience suspense and fear in a safe way.

Happy Halloween! For Halloween this year, we have invited author / screenwriter Joe Ballarini to join us. His series The Babysitter's Guide to Monster Hunting released book 3 in July and a film is currently in production at Netflix. He talks about the writing process, what it's like to adapt a book into a screenplay and his future feud with RL Stein. (Note: The Give Me Five Podcast will 100% be the reason for said feud) He also joins us for our review of 1987's Monster Squad. A favorite movie of ours and his. For once it was nice to have someone join us who actually knows what he's talking about, although I think there were still a few fart jokes. There are two questions of the week. For Joe- What media franchises would you love to write for?
