But... if you want all of that plus an engaging story, you'll love this episode! If this film is a love letter to all the campy horror films of the 70's and 80's, we'll gladly open that letter with great care - along with a hefty dose of good old-fashioned gore and that skunk weed you used to puff and pass. Join us as we bunk up at Camp Nightwing to discover just a bit more of the mystery surrounding Sarah Fier and The Witch's Curse in Fear Street Part II: 1978!
Leigh (@lshfoster) and Ellie (@elliebrigida) talk about the Fear Street trilogy for this Lez-ssentials episode, a recurring segment on the essential movies and TV shows in the lesbian canon. Every main character in each of these movies is a lesbian and we think that's beautiful. This series has everything a horror gay could ever want, but also is absolutely worth a watch even if you normally steer clear of scary movies. We discuss how the real curse was homophobia all along, Sarah Fier is an iconic lesbian who we would 100% die for, and Sam and Deena are the lesbian final girls we never knew we needed. We will never look at moss the same way again. At the end of the episode, stick around to hear our original song based on Fear Street titled “Run For Your Life” written by Leigh Holmes Foster and performed by Ellie Brigida and Leigh Holmes Foster. It's time to end this. All trilogies must inevitably end with a part three that hopefully serves as both a satisfying conclusion to the overall story as well as being a good standalone entry in it's own right. Fear Street's final part takes us all the way back to 1666 with the true origin of Sarah Fier as well as finally tie up the story we are still waiting to see conclude in 1994. We give our verdict on this final chapter and the trilogy overall in what is certainly one of the most interesting horror releases of 2021. Elsewhere this week; Stranger Things sadly won't be making this year. Mike Flanagan returns with Midnight Mass next month. A whole bunch of horror classics are coming to 4K for the first time.
Fear Street 1978 is the second installment to the Fear Street Trilogy and sequel to Fear Street 1994. In 1994 Deena and Josh have restrained Sam and seek help from C. Berman, and more about the infamous Sarah Fier. Just so you guys know, this specifically focuses on C. The gang channels their inner policeman officers this week, as they review Edgar Wright's buddy cop, mystery, slasher, cult, action homage: Hot Fuzz (2007). Follow the career of Sergeant Nicholas Angel as he makes the move from London's best cop, to a big fish in a small town of Sanford, out in the English countryside. Has all the action in the big city corrupted his mind, or is there really a killer on the loose in this sleepy town? This week Brian, Meg, and Steve share their thoughts on the first two parts of the R. L. Stine adaptation trilogy. Is the legend of Sarah Fier the new Twilight? The true successor to Scream and Friday the 13th? Or is it the new Netflix property? Are the hosts so out of touch thinking horror movies don't need a classic pop needle drop every minute and a half? No, it's the children who are wrong. Also learn if you or a loved one should be screened for congenital witch bleeding. Plus they reveal the winning category for the August Showdown. In Episode 31, Amy and Diego, with guest host Mark, take an in-depth look at Fear Street: 1978 and 1666, the second and third in a trilogy of movies based on R.L. Stine's novels of the same name. The crew also discusses Gunpowder Milkshake (starring Karen Gillan, Lena Headey, Angela Bassett, Michelle, Yeoh, Carla Gugino, and Paul Giamatti) which follows a young assassin who is disavowed from the firm that she works for, as she tries to save a young girl and take out the company that has abandoned her. Mark and Diego also briefly discuss How I Became a Superhero and Resident Evil: Infinite Darkness. Finally, the trio talk about upcoming shows they are eager to watch in the weeks ahead. The conclusion to Leigh Janiak's trilogy, FEAR STREET: 1666, could have been just as much like a knockout as the other two installments, 1994 & 1978. Although, it was still so much damn fun to watch our Shadysiders fight like absolute hell! Picking up where we leave off from 1978, Deena is shifted 300 years in the past to 1666 in the POV of Sarah Fier. As she lives through Fier's last breaths, she discovers the true evil the haunts Shadyside. Then, with a hell of a twist that made me jump out of my seat, we are back to the year 1994 for our showdown with the true witch of Shadyside. In some ways, I was left wanting a bit more and a little confused on how the decision to end the curse was played out, but it still somehow worked without question.Fear Street: 1666 is out today only on Netflix! The 'Fear Street' Trilogy takes us back to the Summer Camp Slasher 70s with its 2nd installment, 'Fear Street Part Two: 1978'. After a 'Scream'-ing good time with 'Part One: 1994', how would this sequel hold up to it's predecessor while advancing the mystery of Sarah Fier? To answer that question and many others, we brought back Horror News Network writer and former Hatebreed guitarist "Scary" Larry Dwyer for a complete non-spoiler breakdown, then we get into Part Two spoilers and preview what we want to see in the final installment 'Part 3: 1666' coming this Friday (28:46). First thoughts on the first segment of fear street series
The past can sometimes come to haunt us ... In the case of a group of teenagers from Shadyside, this old adage proves to be entirely too accurate. After inadvertently upsetting the evil spirit of a witch named Sarah Fier, Deena and her friends must find a way to stop her evil curse before it claims their lives! Join us in our first ever (though hopefully not last!) attempt at a Live Reaction (of sorts)! We watched the movie and commented as things developed (all while enjoying great food, snacks, and drinks ;) ), and we tried to come up with theories about the way things would play out. We also talked about how things from our own childhoods connected to the scenes from the movie. This was a very fun experiment! Special thanks go to the people that took some time to drop in and say hi during our Instagram Live. We unfortunately lost the video feed, but we appreciate all of you, and hopefully the next one can live on :D --- This episode is sponsored by · Anchor: The easiest way to make a podcast. https://anchor.fm/app --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/jmv125150/message
