Happy Memorial Day weekend folks…Sherman and Ski are BACK baby. We've got a batch of fresh new episodes locked and loaded and ready to go…so what better way to kick off summer than to listen to our truly HOT and at least half incorrect takes on this year's inductees into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Now, as our loyal listeners know, this is a frequent topic, so back in the dead of winter when the nominees were released, Ski and I huddled up and took a stab at the impossible – guessing what this clandestine body of voters might decide. So three weeks ago, the white puff of smoke happened and the world got 7 new members ushered in, plus a new pope. Take a listen to see just how wrong we both were in Feburary, even though, as always, we had the right takes REGARDLESS of the actual outcome. Ski went 2 for 6 on his picks, and Sherman did slightly better at 3 for 6, and of course neither of us knew they would back door admit Salt n Pepa (LONG OVERDUE). Look for new episodes weekly-ish as well, so resubscribe if you've missed us!! (Recorded Feb 2025). WE MISSED YOU ALL!!
On this episode of The Co-Write, we discuss the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame's class of 2025. Boy, did we ever get our predictions wrong. Donovan also talks about his recent visit to the Rock Hall! Download, Subscribe & Enoy! *Note - This was originally supposed to be episode 149. We recorded an interview with Drew Kennedy discussing his upcoming self titled release out this Friday. During the recording of that interview a severe thunderstorm developed over us. It actually hailed during the interview. Long story short, I couldn't find to saved audio from the interview for about a week. I found it, but the audio was corrupted. It just sounded like white noise. Weird. We will work on getting Drew back on the pod as soon as we can.

Send us a textOn this episode Tom and Bert cover and discuss the Greatest Make Out Songs of the decades (1950's-1960's). After the Guys define what a "Make Out" Song is and means to them, they roll into the list of songs with some of the hits and their "Back Stories".From the 1963 hit "Hey Paula" by Paul and Paula (20:17); to the 1963 Lenny Welch classic "Since I fell for you" (21:23); to the 1964 hit "The Girl from Ipanema" by Stan Getz and Astrud Gilberto (22:40) the guys give their thoughts. Then they go through the R&B group The "Miracles" led by Smokey Robinson and the injustice of that group waiting many years to get inducted into the Rock and Roll HOF (25:20); before discussing The Temptations hit, "I wish it would rain" (31:50) and the meaning of those haunting lyrics. They close the show with 1968's "You're all I need to get by" (33:06) sung by Marvin Gaye and Tammi Terrell, 1968's "Build me up Buttercup" (35:39) by the Foundations, 1950's classic "Having a Party" (39:28) by the great Sam Cooke and a discussion on the Power of Music helping people with dementia by bringing them songs from their past and the joy it brings for these people.Enjoy the show! You can email us at reeldealzmoviesandmusic@gmail.com or visit our Facebook page, Reel Dealz Podcast: Movies & Music Thru The Decades to leave comments and/or TEXT us at 843-855-1704 as well.
It's our second WON HOF show of the week. We're happy to have back on the show author and podcaster Brian R Solomon (@brianrsolomon) for another round of discussions about this year's ballot. We cover a lot of the same topics as we did with Greg on the last show, including measuring tag teams in dog years, not voting for active competitors, judging someone's entire career regardless of the category in which they are placed and comparisons to both Cooperstown and the Rock and Roll HOF. We also to talk to Brian about his upcoming book next year on the legendary Gorilla Moonson and what surprised him most while researching the man, in his career, billed from both Manchuria and Cherry Hill, NJ. And since it's almost Halloween, we also threw out a couple of film recommendations for the season, including Gothic, The Abominable Dr. Phibes and The Black Cat. Be sure to check out Brian's podcast Shut Up and Wrestle, especially if you love hearing about the Weston/Apter wrestling magazines, as well as Brian's great ability to get wrestlers' children on as guests, as they always have fascinating stories to tell.
NFL football is here. Does high school football start too early? It's Donny's favorite time of year. Should we give the secondary receiver options a chance? What happens if Pickens misses time? Looking at the Steelers captains for 2024, no surprises. Russ was an obvious choice. The opener vs the Falcons is sneaky tough, and Atlanta seems to be the consensus pick. AFC predictions: quite a contrast between Donny and Sean. Donny made a trek to Cleveland to see the Pirates over the weekend, and he saw the Rock and Roll HOF. He also found a way to cheat the system for beer at the game.

The Bums are back in the rail yard for S3:E0073, with a review of NFL Conference Playoff Sunday and a preview of Super Bowl Cincuenta y Siete with a series of “firsts” in Super Bowl history; the Bums playoff challenge tightens another notch in the race for a “free dinner”, as Rocky clings to a lead thinner than a Communion wafer and Paddy makes a late comeback; a review of coaching hires —headlined by Sean Payton's reentry into NFL coaching in Mile High territory; TB12 announces another retirement (yawns); Philly Eagle's OL Josh Sills wins dirtbag medal by catching rape and kidnapping charges; Arian Foster is listening to Joe Rogan too often with his claim that the NFL is rigged (scripted WWF style); Nick Bosa isn't squeaky clean; FFL last place punishments are getting increasingly more creative; RIP to Chicago BlackEyeHawks legend Bobby “The Golden Jet” — as his legacy has two diametrically opposed chapters (one good and one bad); and wrap with a quick chat around NBA headlines (including LeBron watch and ‘the suck' that is the Bulls). The suffix edition kicks off with a back-to-back “double booze” review (liver's beware), starting with Lamp Lighter Brewing's ‘Werewolves of Cambridge' (7.2% ABV), an approachable, smooth English Pale Malt Porter that smacks with toffee, coffee and caramel (thanks McD!!)— followed by a review of ‘Drumchameau', a Pinot Noir Cask single pot Irish single malt — that presents as a bit grainy, flavored with honey and vanilla — similar to a traditional Japanese whiskey; Eddie gets his heavy metal fix while being price gouged at the hands of Chicago's Radius venue in China Town; RIP to Shirley Williams of “Laverne and Shirley” TV fame — rendering Lenny the last stooge standing; the Bums go day drinking with Paddy's Big East pals (2 out of 10 dentists approve); the classic movie “The Sting” holds up over time (kinda sorta); and nobody on the planet is happy with the Rock and Roll HOF nominees (zero stars, do not recommend). All this without the sharp stick in the eye.Recorded on February 2nd, 2023 at B.O.M.'s global headquarters ‘East Bunker' in Chicago, IL USA.
