NFL football is here. Does high school football start too early? It's Donny's favorite time of year. Should we give the secondary receiver options a chance? What happens if Pickens misses time? Looking at the Steelers captains for 2024, no surprises. Russ was an obvious choice. The opener vs the Falcons is sneaky tough, and Atlanta seems to be the consensus pick. AFC predictions: quite a contrast between Donny and Sean. Donny made a trek to Cleveland to see the Pirates over the weekend, and he saw the Rock and Roll HOF. He also found a way to cheat the system for beer at the game. Jon Ledyard joins to discuss the Steelers playoff outlook, if the Steelers got played by Aiyuk, Van Jefferson, his concerns with the OL, will anyone beat the Chiefs? NFC predictions: Donny and Sean are closer on this side of things, and our SB picks. College Football Minute - PSU looked great, Pitt put up points, Kenny Pickett got booed, Dabo isn't adapting. Comparing Russell Wilson to each of the opposing QBs he'll face this season. He surprisingly wins many of the matchups. Over/under NFL win totals. Rob Carter Jr. made maybe the best interception of all time on Saturday. Will it live on for years? Chris Collinsworth would love talking about it if he made it to the NFL someday. Nick Farabaugh on Fautanu's health and outlook, Spencer Anderson, Najee Harris/Jaylen Warren split, Roman Wilson's status, Art Smith's playbook. Steelers vs Falcons. NFL Awards picks. Noah Hiles joins from Wrigley Field to discuss his fond memories from there, Jared Jones, the Cubs turnaround, Cruz's transition to CF. Hodgepodge of Nothingness - Jamal Agnew, Ricky Pearsall, Joey Chesnut
Rob Carter Jr. made maybe the best interception of all time on Saturday. Will it live on for years? Chris Collinsworth would love talking about it if he made it to the NFL someday.

(Hour 3 with Ron and Cook) More open phone lines. One listener believes that the Steelers are the worst team in the AFC North, even with the injury to Joe Burrow. The callers are divided if the Steelers will make the playoffs or not. Even if the Steelers make the playoffs people are not confident they will do well. More Taylor Swift talk. Ron defends Chris Collinsworth against listeners who think Collinsworth is biased against Pittsburgh. More listener phone calls about Taylor Swift, Chris Collinsworth, and more. A caller chimes in to remember the late Stan Savran. Ron reminisces about some memories about Stan and how excited he would be for how good the Browns have been so far this year.
(Hour 2 with Cook and Joe) Pittsburgh Post Gazette's Ray Fittipaldo joins the show before flying to Seattle. He does not have a good feeling about the game going into Seattle. He thinks if the Steelers have a chance in this game it will be because the defense steps up. He does not believe that Minkah Fitzpatrick will be playing. Ray talks about the current quarterback situation. He says that Mason is their best chance to win the game at the QB position. Ray says that if they miss the playoffs, this is a wasted year. They waited too long to fire Matt Canada and wasted a 6-3 record and an easy path to the playoffs. He also gives his quick reaction to the surprising Cleveland Browns. He wants to see Cleveland in Baltimore for the playoffs. Ron plays "Free Association" with Ray. Ron agrees with Ray that this would be a lost season if the Steelers miss the playoffs. They had a great opportunity and they squandered it with losses to 2 win teams. NFL Games on Christmas Day did great ratings compared to the NBA who is normally the most watched sport on that day. Christmas Day is on a Wednesday next year, but Ron says that they will find a way to have the game on a Wednesday. Ron does not like Taylor Swift and is ready to defend himself against the Swifties. The Swfties do in fact call in.

The Arizona Cardinals are a complete mess and Kyler Murray has a torn ACL. Did you know the difference between the Bucs and the Chiefs in the 2020 Super Bowl was a toe? That's right, folks. Chris Collinsworth gave us the lowdown during Sunday night's game. The next Michael Jordan, aka Pat Mahomes, would have had that Super Bowl ring if it weren't for his pesky toe! Tom Brady is a mere afterthought when Pat Mahomes is on the field. In reality, this game was closer than it felt. Little things gave the Chiefs the W. First, Bucs abandoned the run game and couldn't stop the Chiefs'. Second, and probably the biggest factor, was the atrocious officiating. Oddly, Devin White disappeared this game, only days after being named NFC Defensive Player of the Month. His fire was sorely needed this game. Nevertheless, it's a long season. Real football starts in November. Let's go Bucs. --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/buccaneers-observer/message Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/buccaneers-observer/support
