In this episode of the show, Binksy, Baldy and Stu discuss a range of topics from IPL 2026 at the halfway stage. Who has impressed? What predictions did we get wrong? And what did we get right? We also touch on the current overseas tours involving the Black Caps and NZ A, plus check in on the England Test contenders now that the County Championship season is underway. We start the show by discussing the flurry of runs we've seen at the IPL over the past few days. Shreyas Iyer and the Punjab Kings chased down the Delhi Capitals' 264, and Sunrisers Hyderabad made light work of a 220+ run chase against Rajasthan Royals. We saw hundreds for Sanju Samson, Sai Sudharsan, Vaibhav Sooryavanshi and KL Rahul, but many of those players ended up on the losing side. As the conversation continues, we wonder whether bowlers can ever turn the tables on quality batters, compare Vaibhav Sooryavanshi to Wayne Gretzky, dismay at the struggles of the Mumbai Indians and Gujarat Titans and look back in horror at some of our pre-tournament predictions. There's also praise for RCB and the unbeaten Punjab Kings, who sit atop the table at the halfway point of the season. To round out the show, we move away from the IPL to talk about two Wills from the Black Caps - the return of Will O'Rourke and the form of Will Young. We also shine a spotlight on some of England's leading contenders for Test spots now that the County Championship is underway, such as Zak Crawley, Jamie Smith and James Rew. In this episode of the show, Stu and Raj discuss the second week of IPL 2026, focusing on RCB v MI, GT v LSG, RR sitting at the top of the ladder and a few other things that have caught their eye so far. We start the show by discussing RCB's most recent victory over the Mumbai Indians. Did Stu make a huge mistake leaving RCB out of his pre-tournament top 4? It's certainly looking that way after Phil Salt joined Rajat Patidar, Virat Kohli, Tim David and friends in finding the middle of his bat. Josh Hazelwood has returned too, but how much will he play? For Mumbai, is it time to sound the alarm? Jasprit Bumrah and Trent Boult aren't taking wickets, Mitchell Santner's bowling in the powerplay, Rohit Sharma is injured and they find themselves near the bottom of the ladder despite their star-studded lineup. Can they bounce back? Or are these losses a sign of things to come? As we turn our attention to GT v LSG, we also look back at Gujarat's final-ball thriller against the Delhi Capitals, which saw Prasidh Krishna and Jos Buttler combine to thwart David Miller's late flurry. We discuss Rashid Khan's early form, then agree that GT is on the improve and LSG are a good but not great side. Next, it's the table-topping Rajasthan Royals in the spotlight, particularly their openers Vaibhav Suryavanshi and the moustachioed Yashasvi Jaiswal. Is it realistic to think they could they finish the season as the best openers from an impressive collection in IPL 2026? Finally, Raj asks Stu's thoughts on the Sunrisers Hyderabad's start to the season and we bounce around a few quick notes, including Sanju Samson's impressive hundred that saw CSK capture their first win of the season. We'll be back in your feed again soon with more cricket news, including plenty of IPL coverage and the upcoming NZ tours. In our final preview show, The Cricket Podcast finally get around to looking at last year's runners up, Punjab Kings, alongside Rajasthan Royals and Delhi Capitals. The Royals may have given away Sanju Samson, but they've got their new superstar now. A year older, maybe a year better, we wonder whether the now 15-year old Vaibhav Suryavanshi can show his prowess over a full IPL season. With some moves made to shore up the middle order, can RR deliver a better season? PBKS were the nearly men last year, and have stuck with much the same formula. Shreyas Iyer's men are aiming for solidity and competence to see them through this year, within a tournament more commonly sprinkled with extremes. Is it finally their time? Last but not least, we turn to Delhi. With King Legend back at the top of the order and a strong looking bowling line-up, could they be the dark horses of the tournament? This episode of the podcast is a deep-dive tactical preview of the IPL 2026 season, breaking down the massive off-season moves for the league's big four franchises. We are moving past the hype to look at the cold, hard data defining the 2026 trophy race. We start with the "New Look" Chennai Super Kings. After a disastrous 2025 where they finished at the bottom, the front office finally hit the reset button. We break down the blockbuster trade that sent Ravindra Jadeja out to bring Sanju Samson in. It is a total shift in philosophy for the Yellow Army, moving away from "safety first" toward an aggressive, spin-hitting middle order. We also look at their gamble on uncapped speedsters and whether Noor Ahmad can carry a spin attack at Chepauk without veteran backup. Then there is the Mumbai Indians, who seem to have finally moved past the captaincy drama of the last two years. With Hardik Pandya firmly at the helm and Rohit Sharma still providing the veteran backbone, MI looks like a clinical machine again. We analyze the return of Quinton de Kock and why Shardul Thakur might be the "missing link" for their death bowling—an area that leaked critical runs in the 2025 playoffs. The defending champions, Royal Challengers Bengaluru, are in a fascinating position. After 18 years of waiting, Rajat Patidar delivered the trophy in 2025. Now, the challenge is the "double." We discuss the massive acquisition of Bhuvneshwar Kumar and how his Powerplay control changes the game for Virat Kohli. Can they survive the first few weeks without Josh Hazlewood, or will their pace depth be their undoing? Finally, we look at the Kolkata Knight Riders. KKR hijacked the auction, dropping record sums on Cameron Green and Matheesha Pathirana. We debate if Ajinkya Rahane can actually control a team with this much volatile power. In this episode of the show, Binksy, Baldy, Raj and Stu are back in the same room again (almost all of us) to kick off the IPL 2026 coverage with a bumper preview show in two parts. This is part two, in which we previewing the fortunes of Sunrisers Hyderabad, the Chennai Super Kings, Gujarat Titans, Royal Challengers Bengaluru & Mumbai Indians. We're straight into it this time around to discuss an SRH side that was much hyped in 2025, but never really found a run of performances to get themselves in the playoff picture. Once again, though, the team looks built around power, with Travis Head, Abhishek Sharma, Ishan Kishan and Heinrich Klaasen set to lead the way. But can the bowling hold up until Pat Cummins arrives? Next up is CSK, a team that Stu was surprised to see ranked so highly. We talk about the youthful look to their potential lineup, which could include the likes of Ayush Mhatre & Dewalt Brevis to supplement the old heads like offseason recruit Sanju Samson, Ruturaj Gaikwad & Shivam Dube. We also wonder whether Matt Henry will get an extended run of games, and how many MS Dhoni moments we might see in 2026. For GT it looks like business as usual. Shubman Gill, Sai Sudharsan & Jos Buttler at the top, with stars like Rashid Khan, Mohammad Siraj and Prasidh Krishna with the ball. There was some debate about who might fill out the overseas roles, with Kagiso Rabada, Glenn Phillips, Jason Holder & Tom Banton all in the mix, but all in all they look a team set to be hard to beat again in 2026. RCB return to the IPL as defending champions, but potentially without the services of Josh Hazlewood for a decent chunk of the tournament. We talk about how much his absence could hurt them, the impact of Bhuvi Kumar and Krunal Pandya in 2025, plus whether they'll find room for Jacob Bethell and which overseas player might have to sit out as a result. There's also a bit of Virat Kohli chat, given his excellent form in recent times. The Mumbai Indians are short-priced favourites, and it's hard to find many flaws in their potential lineups. They're stacked with Indian stars like Jasprit Bumrah, Hardik Pandya, Rohit Sharma, Suryakumar Yadav, & Tilak Varma, and the overseas players aren't too bad either. We talk about the questions facing their side. Quinton de Kock or Ryan Rickelton? Can they fit both Will Jacks & Mitchell Santner into the lineup? And how fun is it to watch Trent Boult and Jasprit Bumrah bowl in tandem? To round out the preview, we make our predictions! Overseas MVP, local MVP, purple cap, orange cap, top 4, bold predictions and our picks for who will be calling themselves champions come the end of the season. We'll be back in your feed again at the end of the week to discuss the start of the tournament and a few other things going on in the world of cricket. In this episode of the show, Binksy, Baldy, Raj and Stu are back in the same room again (almost all of us) to kick off the IPL 2026 coverage with a bumper preview show in two parts. In this episode, we start by previewing the fortunes of the Rajasthan Royals, Lucknow Super Giants, Kolkata Knight Riders, Delhi Capitals and Punjab Kings. We start with a Baldy explainer, before moving straight into the team previews. This year we decided to count down from outsiders (based on the a random betting agency - don't blame us) to the favourites to discuss what excites us about our chosen teams, the key questions facing each side and whether we think they'll be in title contention come the business end of the tournament. First up is RR, in which Binksy highlights their young side, but buries the lead to the big question about Vaibhav Suryavanshi and how much hype will surround the young star this season. We also discuss the loss of Sanju Samson and ponder whether Riyan Parag's side is in rebuild mode. Next is LSG, where the conversation quickly turns to their powerful projected top 4 of Mitchell Marsh, Aiden Markram, Nicholas Pooran & Rishabh Pant. Will they be able to carry the batting load on their hefty shoulders? Will Wanindu Hasaranga play a role in the tournament? And will we see a fully fit Mayank Yadav steaming in again? For KKR it's a sad day for Binksy to look at the lineup and see no Andre Russell, but Sunil Narine remains and a host of New Zealanders have arrived to boost the overseas stocks. The question remains, which ones will actually take the field? Will Finn Allen thrive? And how much has Harshit Rana's injury dented their chances? The Delhi Capitals are up fourth, and Stu is excited about their chances in 2026. The addition of the likes of Pathum Nissanka, David Miller & Lungi Ngidi, plus the spin trio of Axar Patel, Vipraj Nigam & Kuldeep Yadav makes the team an intriguing proposition on paper. But will they have the local batting depth to turn that intrigue into wins? To round out part one of our preview, Raj takes a look at 2025's beaten finalists, the Punjab Kings, who return with a lot of familiar faces from the team that performed so well in the previous season. There's Shreyas Iyer and Prabhsimran Singh at the top, overseas allrounders like Marco Jansen, Azmatullah Omarzai & Marcus Stoinis, plus Arshdeep Singh & the spin duo of Yuzi Chahal and Harpreet Brar with the ball, making them a very balanced side. So why are they not more favoured in the betting odds? We'll be back in your feed again in 24 hours with the second episode of our IPL 2026 Preview. India clinched a historic third T20 World Cup title with a commanding win over New Zealand in Ahmedabad. Standout performances underlined India's dominance, especially Sanju Samson's remarkable run through the knockout stages. But the final has also sparked debate. Was the batting-friendly pitch worthy of a World Cup summit clash? Should curators shape conditions to produce high-scoring spectacles, or does that undermine the balance between bat and ball? And how does Ahmedabad compare with iconic Indian venues like Wankhede or Eden Gardens when it comes to hosting cricket's biggest matches? In this episode of In Focus, veteran cricket journalist Pradeep Magazine talks about India's dominant campaign, the controversy around pitch preparation and the legacy of this champion side in the evolving landscape of world cricket. India dominated the T20 World Cup final against New Zealand from the fifth ball of the match which Sanju Samson pummelled for six. In this episode of the show, Baldy and Stu look back at the final of the ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2026, which was played at Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad between the Black Caps of New Zealand and the 2024 champions India. We start with our instant reactions to India's dominant performance that made them the first team to win back-to-back titles at the Men's T20 World Cup. It's a tough one as Black Caps fans, but all credit to India for the way they played without fear in three crucial matches to finish the tournament and go all the way. There's praise for Sanju Samson, Abhishek Sharma and Ishan Kishan at the top of the order, as we wonder what - if anything - the Black Caps could have done to stop the Indian batting blitz. For New Zealand there was a brief moment of joy when Jimmy Neesham grabbed three wickets in an over, but Shivam Dube's flurry to finish meant the home side took all the momentum into the innings break. Tim Seifert made a nice start, but once Axar Patel struck with the key wickets of Finn Allen and then Glenn Phillips, it was always going to be tough work for the Kiwis. Jasprit Bumrah finished with 4-15 to claim the player of the match, while Sanju Samson was named player of the tournament. So there we have it - a month of high-quality cricket and plenty of fun for us on the show. New Zealand hearts broken again and India well deserved back-to-back champions in this edition of the 2026 ICC Men's T20 World Cup. We'll be back to regular programming at the weekend to look back at the tournament and look ahead to what's next. In this episode, we break down an absolute blockbuster at the Wankhede! India has marched into the T20 World Cup 2026 Final after a pulse-pounding 7-run victory over England. It was a game of "what ifs" and "could have beens" as 499 runs were scored in a single night—a record for a Men's T20 World Cup match. We deep-dive into Sanju Samson's redemption arc. After being dropped on 15, Samson made England pay with a blistering 89 off 42 balls, proving exactly why he belongs on the biggest stage. His masterclass propelled India to a mammoth 253/7, the highest score in a T20WC knockout. But the story didn't end there. England's 22-year-old sensation Jacob Bethell nearly pulled off the impossible, smashing a legendary 105 off 48 balls. We analyze his heartbreaking run-out in the final over and how Jasprit Bumrah's death-bowling masterclass (conceding just 6 runs in the 18th over) saved the day for the Men in Blue. The T20 World Cup final awaits but the real question is - should this tournament continue to be staged every two years?! Sure, there's a Finn Allen century to marvel at and a Jacob Bethell performance to savour, but what is the care factor here in Australia. So as well as ponder whether New Zealand might be set for their all time cricketing moment against a red hot India on home soil, Corbin and Ed debate if Australian cricket fans care about a trophy that comes around every five minutes. And more broadly, will the Aussie obsession for test cricket ever translate to similar fandom for the T20 variety beyond the four months over Summer. There's plenty more on the agenda too including an intriguing Sheffield Shield round on right now with Travis Head and Matthew Renshaw opening for their states, Adam Zampa hasn't been being retained by the Renegades and Pakistan players being fined for their sub par World Cup.ABC Grandstand cricket commentator Corbin Middlemas is joined by Ed Cowan to bring you all the highlights and match analysis to keep you up to speed. n this episode of the show we'll review the aftermath of a brutal display of batting from both England and India which saw 499 runs scored in a T20 semi final where India prevailed by 7 runs thanks to 89 from Sanju Samson and a world class bowling performance from Jasprit Bumrah who was the only bowler to concede less than 9 runs an over in the contest. We also look forward to the final on Sunday with Binksy trying to goad Raj into admitting New Zealand have the momentum from their crushing victory over South Africa.
Sanju Samson, a quiet and often forgotten star of Indian cricket, reminds everyone of his exceptional talents with a stunning 97 not out to seal India's place in the T20 World Cup semi final. Simon Hughes and Simon Mann review the way India over came West Indies and national expectation to win the match on the back of Samson's stunning innings. They discuss the prospects for the two semi finals, how England could surprise India in Mumbai, whether bowlers should just keep it simple and bowl at the stumps rather than use so many variations, and who will be champions on Sunday. Has there been a better finale in cricket than Alyssa Healy's day out in Hobart against India with a 150 and a cheeky couple of overs with the ball. Corbin and Ed are on opposite sides of the coin as to the right time to retire but they're in unison on Healy's legacy and her deserved white ball goodbye. The T20 World Cup has two tantalising semi finals in New Zealand vs South Africa and India vs England to look over including a stand out tournament from Will Jacks and a memorable performance for Sanju Samson. There's also world politics affecting cricketers and broadcasters, a Sanath Jayasuriya mic drop, no draw for the IPL yet and a listener question surrounding the commercial viability of a test in Darwin.ABC Grandstand cricket commentator Corbin Middlemas is joined by Ed Cowan to bring you all the highlights and match analysis to keep you up to speed. On this week's episode we discuss the final Super 8 matches of the #t20worldcup2026, including India's wins against Zimbabwe and the West Indies. We also look ahead to the semi finals with the four teams to qualify Ind v Eng and SA v NZ
In this episode, we break down a night of pure theatre at Eden Gardens as Sanju Samson played a knock for the ages to send India into the T20 World Cup 2026 semi-finals. Chasing a daunting 196 in what was effectively a virtual quarter-final against the West Indies on 1 March, Samson silenced the critics with a breathtaking 97 off just 50 balls*. We dive deep into the tactical mastery of Samson's innings, which featured 12 fours and 4 sixes, guiding India to a 5-wicket victory with 4 balls to spare. We also recap a frantic final 72 hours of Super 8 action that decided the final four. From South Africa's clinical 5-wicket win over Zimbabwe to secure the top spot in Group 1, to Pakistan's heartbreaking exit despite a thrilling 5-run victory over Sri Lanka on 28 February—where Sahibzada Farhan's heroic century (100 off 60) wasn't enough to overcome New Zealand's superior net run rate. We have our semi-finalists as the last episodes of the drama series that is the Super8 stage concluded with a double feature overnight as South Africa put away Zimbabwe and India got home in their game against the West Indies. The India x West Indies was a virtual quarter-final decided by one man as Sanju Samson played the innings of a lifetime to anchor India in chasing down 199 in the final over. In a game that hung in the balance for so long a few key moments here and there proved the difference as Baldy and Raj broke down terrific batting performances by both sides. In an interesting aside Baldy and Raj break down the balance of the Indian side going forward as Axar went unused with the bat and only five bowlers were used. Is there another gear that India can go to with a tweak to their lineup? For the West Indies this concludes a terrific tournament for them - they've come oh so close to a semi-final berth but it is India that is through to the semis against England. We also recap the South Africa x Zimbabwe encounter. South Africa made several changes all of which seemed to pay off against Zimbabwe as Maphaka and Nortje made telling inroads with the ball early. Sikanda Raza did everything to keep Zimbabwe hopes alive but South Africa proved too strong with too many options in the end. Looking ahead to the semi-finals. What needs to go right for New Zealand to get ahead of South Africa? Baldy seems to think that Phillips will have something to say. The showdown at the top of the order between Seifert and Allen versus the length bowling of Ngidi and Rabada looms as a key moment. For India and England, which superstars from either side will step up in what promises to be an enticing affair? Will we see the best of Buttler and Abishek who have been quiet all tournament? On this episode of the PowettPlay Podcast, hosts Jordan Shannon and West Indies international Kieran Powell deliver an in-depth breakdown of the West Indies' heartbreaking exit from the ICC Men's T20 World Cup following their decisive clash with India national cricket team. The duo analyse where it all went wrong for the Windies, focusing on a conservative batting approach that ultimately cost them a place in the knockout stages. Despite finishing their innings with wickets in hand, West Indies failed to post a match-winning total raising serious questions about game awareness, intent, and tactical flexibility under pressure. Jordan and Kieran take a closer look at key individual performances, including the surprise decision to deploy Roston Chase as an opener a move that sparked debate. They also credit Sanju Samson for his composed, match-winning innings that steered India home and underlined the difference in execution between the two sides. Beyond the result, the conversation expands into a broader post-tournament review of West Indies cricket. Has real progress been made? Is this young squad moving in the right direction? And what technical and strategic adjustments are needed to transform promising performances into championship-winning consistency? With expert insight, honest critique, and the perspective of a former international cricketer, this episode offers essential analysis for fans of West Indies cricket, T20 World Cup followers, and anyone passionate about the tactical evolution of the modern game. #Cricket #WestIndiesCricket #WestIndiesvIndia #T20I #CricketPodcast #PowettPlay #CaribbeanCricket #KieranPowell #Windies #Cricbuzz #T20Series #WIvIndia #WestIndiesCricket #T20Cricket #CricketAnalysis #CricketTalk #CricketFans #IndiaCricket #INDvWI #CricketPodcast #WindiesCricket #CricketTactics #SportsPodcast #T20 #T20Cricket #WorldCup2026 #ICC #ICCWorldCup #DarenSammy #SanjuSamson Learn more about your ad choices. Is this finally the moment Team India cements their legacy as the undisputed greatest T20 side in history? With the 2026 ICC Men's T20 World Cup kicking off this week, we're diving deep into Group A to see if Suryakumar Yadav and his squad are ready to defend their crown on home soil. In this episode, the boys break down India's "ultra-attacking" squad selection. We discuss the shock exclusion of Shubman Gill, the explosive potential of an Abhishek Sharma and Sanju Samson opening pair, and whether Jasprit Bumrah can carry a bowling attack featuring the mystery spin of Varun Chakaravarthy. But it's not all smooth sailing—we tackle the big questions around Surya's recent dip in form and whether the middle order can survive the pressure of a home World Cup. The drama doesn't stop there. We provide a full Group A preview, analyzing the massive political fallout as Pakistan confirms a boycott of their high-stakes February 15 clash against India in Colombo. What does this mean for the tournament's integrity and Pakistan's path to the Super 8s? We also look at the "giant-killer" potential of the USA, Netherlands, and Namibia. In this episode of the show, Baldy and Stu recap the India v Pakistan Asia Cup final and take a brief look at all the cricket to look forward to over the next few months. We start the show by talking about Pakistan's impressive start, with Farhan and Fakhar combining to reach a score of 113-1. And then the wheels fell off as a mixture of excellent spin bowling and poor shot selection led to the collapse of all collapses, which saw Pakistan crumble to be all out for 146. It wasn't all smooth sailing for India, though, who found themselves in trouble at 20-3 before Tilak Varma, Sanju Samson and Shivam Dube played their part in what proved to be an exciting final and one which saw India crowned as Asia Cup champions in 2025. Do Pakistan have enough building blocks for a 2026 T20 World Cup challenge? And is SKY's spot under threat? To round out the show, we make quick mention of a few things we're looking forward to in what shapes as an exciting finish to the calendar year in the world of cricket. We'll be back in your feed again soon to discuss the week that was, which should include India v West Indies, the Chappell-Hadlee T20 series and the Women's World Cup, among other things. In this episode of the show, Raj and Stu discuss India v Pakistan at the Asia Cup, the Black Caps' T20 squad to take on Australia, NZ A's tour to South Africa and the start of Australia A's tour to India. We start the show once again by talking about another dominant Indian performance against Pakistan in the Asia Cup - this time in the Super 4 stage. Last week it was two brilliant allrounders - Hardik Pandya and Axar Patel - who made important contributions for India, but this time the spark came from Shivam Dube, who slowed Pakistan's momentum after a rather sloppy start to the match. There's also more praise for Abhishek Sharma, as well as discussion around the controversial catch by Sanju Samson. Next it's a Black Caps focus - first the T20 squad named to take on Australia in the Chappell-Hadlee series, in which Mitchell Santner, Lockie Ferguson, Kane Williamson and a host of other key names are unavailable for the Kiwi side. We discuss how the NZ T20 side might take shape over the course of the home summer, with an eye to the ICC T20 World Cup in February. Is it a good thing that we can't name the Black Caps' best XI? Or a concern that so many roles feel up for grabs this close to a major event? To round out the show, first we give a big tick to NZ A's overall tour to South Africa. Things started slow with the white ball, and the final Test ended in a fairly subdued draw, but the likes of Rhys Mariu, Dale Phillips, Curtis Heaphy, Adi Ashok and Matt Fisher all made cases for higher honours over the years to come. We also quickly touch on Australia A's tour to India, in which we saw bat dominate ball in the first Test of that series, with Sam Konstas, Dhruv Jurel & Devdutt Padikkal among those to impress. We'll be back in your feed again next week to discuss more stories from the world of cricket, including the Asia Cup & more from New Zealand. India have named a 15-member squad for the Asia Cup 2025, starting on 9 September. While Shubman Gill's return to the T20I format – and that too as vice-captain – grabbed the headlines, a few notable omissions raised eyebrows. Has Gill's comeback unsettled a well-oiled T20I line-up? What happens to Sanju Samson's role as opener now? And, more importantly, what more does Shreyas Iyer need to do to break into this Indian T20I side? In the latest episode of the Sledging Room podcast, Akshay Ramesh, Saurabh Kumar and Kingshuk Kusari debate India's Asia Cup squad. Tune in! In this episode of the show, Binksy, Jamie, Baldy and Stu kick off the IPL 2025 coverage by previewing the fortunes of the Kolkata Knight Riders, Sunrisers Hyderabad, Rajasthan Royals, Mumbai Indians and the Chennai Super Kings. We start with a Baldy explainer, and a quick chat about the impact of the mega auction, before moving straight into the team previews. We discuss what excites us about our chosen teams, whether that's particular players or team storylines, and whether they'll be in title contention come the business end of the tournament. First up is KKR, in which Binksy asks why they aren't favourites with the betting agencies, highlights the importance of Andre Russell and Sunil Narine again, as well as the talented Indian bowling core featuring the likes of Varun Chakravarthy, Harshit Rana and Vaibhav Arora. There's also a word on Ajinkya Rahane taking over as captain. Next is Sunrisers Hyderabad, in which Stu gets excited about songs, Abhishek Sharma, Nitish Kumar Reddy, the power-packed batting lineup and bowling reinforcements, before asking whether this team can go one better in 2025. For the Rajasthan Royals, the absence of Jos Buttler is the question on our minds. Without him and others, they look weaker and the betting agencies have written them off. But can Sanju Samson, Yashasvi Jaiswal and co. make those odds look silly when the winners medals are handed out at the end of May? The Mumbai Indians are up fourth, and Baldy proceeds with caution when discussing their favouritism with the bookmakers. Will the star-studded batting lineup featuring Rohit Sharma, Suryakumar Yadav, Tilak Varma, Hardik Pandya and friends deliver in 2025? Or will the absence of Jasprit Bumrah - for how long? - be too difficult to overcome with the ball in hand? To round out part one of our preview, Jamie takes a look at CSK, highlighting the plethora of options their allrounder-packed squad provides them. What role will Rachin Ravindra play? Will MS Dhoni continue his six-hitting exploits? And when the team does settle on a best XI, will it be strong enough to take them to the final? We'll be back in your feed again at the end of the week with the second episode of our IPL 2025 Preview. India's T20I side is looking formidable after a dominant 4-1 series win over England at home, continuing their impressive run in the shortest format of the game. Under Suryakumar Yadav's captaincy, India have established a settled line-up in T20Is. Young talents are excelling, while senior players are embracing greater responsibility. The template set by Rohit Sharma and Rahul Dravid prior to the T20 World Cup triumph has been maintained, with a few lovely updates. Abhishek Sharma and Sanju Samson have stood out as openers, showcasing fearless cricket at the top of the order. They have been brilliantly backed by captain Suryakumar and coach Gautam Gambhir. Tilak Varma has also cemented his place in the XI with consistent performances. Barring the established trio of Jasprit Bumrah, Yashasvi Jaiswal, and Kuldeep Yadav, questions arise about whether there is room for other star players to return without disrupting the current balance of the T20I side. Leading up to the 2024 T20 World Cup, the Rahul Dravid-led management reintroduced Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, and Ravindra Jadeja. While the trio delivered strong performances, their return impacted team continuity and limited opportunities for emerging players. Can Gautam Gambhir resist the temptation to reintegrate superstars? What will happen when Shubman Gill and Rishabh Pant become available for T20Is? Will they be considered, and how will their inclusion affect the current dynamics? In the latest episode of the Sledging Room Podcast, we also delve into the build-up to the Champions Trophy, as India and England prepare for a three-match ODI series starting on 6 February. Tune in! Rohit Sharma suffered twin failure on his return to Ranji Trophy after nine years. The India captain struggled against Jammu and Kashmir in Mumbai. While he has not regained form, questions about his participation in the first-class tournament have emerged. What's the point of Rohit playing Ranji now? There was an opportunity for him to play domestic cricket before the 2024-25 Test season. What can Virat Kohli achieve from one round of Ranji Trophy? Will India look past their batting superstars for the tour of England, which starts in June? Well, what do you make of India's Champions Trophy squad? What was the need for India to pick four spinners? Will Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Shami be fit? Were the BCCI selectors right in not picking Sanju Samson? Akshay Ramesh, Saurabh Kumar, and Kingshuk Kusari discuss the Champions Trophy squad and Ranji Trophy performances in the latest episode of Sledging Room Podcast. Season 17, Episode 12: It's Test season, it's Perth, and the band is almost back together. Sunrisers Hyderabad were excellent, but should we be asking questions about whether this really is cricket? We also cover the game from yesterday, as Rishabh Pant lead the Delhi Capitals to a win over Sanju Samson and the Rajasthan Royals. In a game which included some big controversy! Four IPL games on our latest weekend reaction show. Earlier today Will Jacks smashed an amazing century for Royal Challengers Bengaluru, with Virat Kohli watching on in awe. Earlier in the weekend Rajasthan Royals beat Lucknow Super Giants, with Sanju Samson cashing in. And Delhi Capitals won AGAIN, as they all but eliminated Mumbai Indians from the tournament. Finally, Chennai Super Kings are taking on Sunrisers Hyderabad. Chennai posted a big score thanks to Ruturaj Gaikwad, but will it be enough to stop Heinrich Klaasen. Alison Mitchell, Jim Maxwell and Charu Sharma debate who should be India's wicketkeeper for the Men's T20 World Cup in the Caribbean and America. India have potentially seven options who could take the gloves. Rishabh Pant is the frontrunner after having a stellar season so far in the Indian Premier League for the Delhi Capitals, but he has not played for India since being involved in a car accident in December 2022, where he injured his knee. Other names to consider are KL Rahul, Sanju Samson and Dinesh Karthik. Plus, we speak to Adelaide Oval Head Curator Damian Hough who has been tasked with creating the pitches that will be used in America at the World Cup including the highly anticipated match between India and Pakistan. He shares his experiences of starting the process in Adelaide and details the plans transporting the pitches 2,000 kilometres from Florida to New York. And after Freddie Flintoff's sons are hitting the headlines in England for their cricketing skills, we look at cricketing families around the world and look at the pressure that brings.
