How many times were you asked the question: 90s or 00s? No matter the subject, we all had our fair share of opinions and perspectives towards the 1990s and 2000s. So, what would happen if both generations came together to discuss the moments that made those eras so special? Well, look no further because this week on The Safe Room, I talked with Shaleena from the Everything 90s Podcast to have that open-ended conversation. Shaleena is a 90s baby to the very end, and her podcast allows for conversations around music, fashion, shows/movies; most importantly, it's one of her personal safe spaces to express what she was raised in her childhood and share it with 90s babies who feel the same. We take a deep dive into the beginnings of her podcast, learn more about Shaleena herself, and discuss the phenomenon between individuals who lived and grew up in the 90s compared to the 00s. Being a 00s baby, this was an awesome conversation to have and I'm so glad that Shaleena and I could just sit down and talk it out with no conflict of interest. Shaleena is currently running her 90s vs. 00s Series with her podcast, so make sure to check it out when you've finished listening to this episode. Shaleena from Everything 90s podcast is featured on this week's episode of Nicstalgia. Yes we met at what was truly the event of the year – Spice Girls trivia!! We talk about some of our shared loves, from the iconic Spiceworld album that we both had on cassette tape to Oops! I Did It Again, the iconic album inspired the Nicstalgia theme song! You'll hear about the Swedish girl band Play, who literally brings a tear to Shaleena's eye because they are so legendary. What also brings a tear to the eye is the fact that Cinderella (1997) didn't have a soundtrack. Canadian Nicstalgia listeners will love this episode, as we discuss some of my favorite Canadian exports: Céline Dion (obviously), Degrassi, Avril Lavigne, Nelly Furtado, and more. (Shania Twain is notably missing, oops!!!! Pretend we talk about her instead of Justin Bieber lol.) I also never miss an opportunity to tell anyone that I was Myspace friends with Aubrey Graham in 2005, before he dropped his first mixtapes as who we now know as Drake. We dive deep into arguably the most iconic Canadian TV show of all time: The Big Comfy Couch!!! (Starring Loonette and Molly, a clown and her dolly) and I share my top 3 favorite TV theme songs. About our Guest Shaleena is the creator and host of Everything 90s Podcast - a show where she invites fellow 90s kids, and lovers of that decade, to join her on nostalgic trips down 90s memory lane. We celebrate another milestone with a bunch of great guests. We talk SNES games, Super Scope games, general 90s nostalgia, our dream 90s-themed podcast convention, music, and more. Also it seems that Link and Emmy REALLY like talking Power Rangers and Link will find any excuse to bring up St. Louis pizza. Our first guests are Andrew and Brandon (not Brendon) from the Namely 90s podcast. We talk jobs, Power Rangers, games we remember (and ones we don't despite playing them), and discuss the New York-ness of the pizza shown in the opening of TMNT II: Secret of the Ooze. You can check out Namely 90s on your favorite podcast app. And follow them on Twitter @Namely90s Then we chat with Kamijace who not only hosts The Weekly Cooldown podcast, but is working on a game show podcast as well. He talks about The Greatest Gaming Game Show Ever and a traumatic SNES experience from childhood before we give him a taste of his own medicine with a quick impromptu quiz show of our own. The Weekly Cooldown can be found on your favorite podcast app. And make sure you follow him on Twitter so you know when his other projects are dropping @Kamijacegaming Up next is Big Joe from SNES is Life who, like Link and Emmy, is on a journey to experience every game the North American SNES library chronologically (he's just doing it on Twitch.) Joe's got something that we don't though, and that's original hardware and a Super Scope. So he gives us his ranked list of all of the games compatible with the device. You can watch SNES is Life on Twitch and follow Joe on Twitter @SNES_is_Life Finally, we are joined by Shaleena from the Everything 90s podcast for one last hit of that sweet 90s nostalgia. Gaming isn't as big of a thing for her, but that's okay because we had a really fun time talking 90s R&B and Space Jam among other things. Listen to Everything 90s on your favorite podcast app, and follow Shaleena on Instagram @everything90spodcast A huge HUGE thank you to Andrew, Brandon, Kamijace, Joe, and Shaleena for joining us. It was so much fun talking to all of you. And a huge thanks to all of you listening and helping us get over a ten thousand listens. We really appreciate you and we hope you'll stick around for the next 500-something games we're gonna talk about.
It's an extra exciting week on the podcast as we're joined by Shaleena from the Everything 90s Podcast! Together we tackle more nostalgic topics like JLo and JaRule, the 2011 Emmys and the 3D re-release of The Lion King!

Over the last 7-10 years, Technology has distinctively changed just about every aspect of how we live our lives, and our working lives certainly aren't exempt from this. From how we are recruited and on-boarded to how we go about on-the-job training, personal development, and eventually passing on our skills and experience to those who follow in our footsteps, technology will continue to play an increasingly prominent role. In this episode, I collaborate with Shaleena to look at building future skills for different age groups, whether you are just entering into the workforce or have been in the workforce for over 20-25 years. We not only touch upon the Future of Work but the various elements that bring it to life like Skills, Careers, and the Change hitting us. Listen till the end to learn how to reinvent yourself for the not so distant future but for the ‘COVID 19 World” from both an Employee & Employer perspective. “Are you an internal Networker or a Brown Noser?” When people think of networking, the first thought is usually online or with people outside of the organization. But what about internal networking? If you've never done it, you may be asking, “What is it?” and “How do I network internally & build your Personal Brand?” Networking is what we do every day when we talk, text, email, and meet new people to share information. While external networking helps us grow our connections to professionals outside of our organization, office networking not only helps individuals add people to their professional networks, it has the added benefit of increasing productivity and engagement inside a company. In this episode I collaborate with Shaleena Mulchandani to talk about the nuances of internal networking, why should it be done, the role it plays within an organization, and building your Personal Brand. Most importantly, the episodes share real Career stories and practical Strategies that listeners can implement right away to build their internal network and grow. Middle Managers are sadly squeezed in the middle! The TOP Management keeps throwing new Targets at them, and the BOTTOM Management keeps throwing retention challenges at them. If this was not enough, the pyramid for Career growth for Middle Managers keeps getting slimmer as they grow. In this episode, I collaborate with Shaleena Mulchandani, who is an experienced Regional Manager with an MNC & very passionate about Executive Development. She brings to life the challenges of Middle Managers & we flesh out strategies to solve their problems. The ultimate focus is on helping them grow in their Careers. This time we do not focus on a specific solution but focus on several Growth possibilities for Middle-Level Managers to grow. We conclude this episode by giving away the listeners a ROADMAP that they can execute and become the CEO of their Careers.
