The new series of Dior Talks – hosted by Paris-based journalist Katya Foreman – is dedicated to the eagerly anticipated ninth edition of Dior Lady Art. Eleven global artists have been invited to transform the iconic Lady Dior handbag into a unique piece of art.In the latest episode, Peruvian artist Sara Flores approaches the Lady Dior as a global canvas to promote Kené, the ancient visual language of the Shipibo-Conibo people, indigenous to the Ucayali River in the Peruvian Amazon. Traditionally applied as body painting and on ceramic and textiles intended for clothing, using local plant-based pigments such as turmeric and annatto, the painstaking artistic practice of Kené is passed down by mothers to daughters. Flores' intricate geometric paintings of labyrinths, images that come to her in visions triggered by psychoactive plants grown in the jungle, reflect the complex interconnected web of life found within the Amazonian rainforest. For Dior Lady Art, Flores celebrates the traditions of her people with two unique handbags directly inspired by her Kené designs, crafted from vegan pineapple leather and tocuyo cotton hand-painted with vegetal dyes. The first, a medium-sized model, features a handle adorned with a cosmic serpent, its surface sparkling with a constellation of black beads, while the second, a mini bag, is embellished with a maze of shimmering silver gems. Also embroidered with a serpentine motif, the bags convey the concept of spiritual healing through the intentional paths traced by the strokes. These remarkable pieces do more than just captivate the eye, they engage the senses, shedding light on the enduring legacy of ancient cultural traditions as they carry a message of respect for the natural world.  Download the episode to learn more about Sara Flores' universe and the Dior Lady Art experience.Hosted by Ausha. In this episode we embrace the plant spirit Mama Cacao with Judy Machado - founder of Goddess Temple Cacao.. We begin with Judy explaining how her story with cacao developed, leading to her being trained by a Shipibo-Conibo cacao shaman.. Judy and I then take a very informative look at the spiritual essence of this plant, and its origins in pre-history, and as an extra-terrestrial spirit. We discuss how it is a Master Teacher plant, revered in the same way, and used ceremonially in the same way as plant like Ayahuasca in traditional cultures. As we continue, we delve into the spiritual, mental, and physical healing properties of cacao, in addition to how cacao is playing a pivotal role in humanity's evolution. Judy shares with us how we can build a relationship with this plant spirit, and develop a practice to incorporate that relationship into our everyday lives.. An incredible episode! Drink some cacao and drop in!www.goddesstemplecacao.comJudy Machado Bio:Judy's beloved relationship with the Cacao Plant Spirit began when working intimately with a Shipibo-Conibo trained Shaman followed by an Andean Medicine Man. Trained and Spirit sanctioned/initiated teacher, Judy's purpose is to hold sacred space, mesmerizing others into remembering their divinity, through daily rituals, Ceremonies, Cacao Facilitator Deep Dive DIETA Journeys, Ceremony Facilitator Trainings and Wellness Retreats in Peru & the Azores. I attended Sophia's psychedelic psundsay psermon recently, on an actual Sunday in an actual church, in Asheville, NC. She may be an anthropologist, but she is no anthro-apologist, for this talk regarded “inter-species dialogues & plant consciousness.” & so we met up later that week to talk tardigrades, Jericho roses & the death & resurrection of words. To ponder prayer, spin recursive meme-o-spheres, encounter scary English angels in the polyglot-o-sphere & stand in “Uhhh” before the “awefullsome” in the realm of the sphere-its. We exchanged notes about what she calls “stacked spirit science” & we honored the ANTcestors with fancy-antsy words like “stigmergy” & “formication”. Even though all things that look/sound similar are connected, we managed to tell Huni Kuin from Loony Toons & Shipibo-Conibo from Evil-Knievel. We traced the riverine roots of the milk-mustached Drunk Monkey People's circuitous designs back to the anaconda choirs of their creation myth (scales for days). We sat, as if in ceremony, w the riddle of sickness & the serpent's place in amazonian&Asclepius' lore. Snake oil or serpent medicine? We weighed the value of dream-tending vs. analysis & as we wondered how to concoct a cure for loneliness I remembered the psycho-magical Dream Theatre I used to facilitate, where we would often transcend Joseph Conrad's maxim “we live as we dream—alone.” &just as Sophia & I considered questions that refuse to be answered & answers that refuse to be questioned, our pod-cast spell was interrupted by a phone-call from our friend comedian Shane Mauss. Then came the indescribable gift of Plant Medicine. After falling madly in love with the Plants and this ancient process of ceremony, I not only experienced healing on all imaginable levels, I was also blessed to meet a teacher that allowed me to apprentice in the Shipibo-Conibo and Quechua-Lamista traditions of Ayahuasca for over ten years so that I could learn how to give to others the magic that was given to me. I now practice the art of Vegetalismo, which simply means I work with plant consciousness to help humans heal and evolve, and I absolutely love holding Master Plant Dieta containers for those called to merge with plant consciousness.I also carry the Chavin tradition for Huachuma passed on to me by the late + great Howard Lawler…” To learn more about or contact Kat, visit her website at: https://www.plantmedicinepeople.comIf you enjoy the show, it's a big help if you can share it via social media or word of mouth. The Power of Plant Medicine with Kat Courtney     “They've taught me that truth is the only way out of chaos. So first I have to first show up real, vulnerable, and all in.” – Kat Courtney, on psychedelic sacred medicine plant journeys   “Drinking plant medicine a few times and assuming you know how to lead a ceremony is like watching a few episodes of Grey's Anatomy and assuming you know how to perform surgery.” – Kat Courtney     Episode Summary:   Have you been hearing more and more lately about psychedelics and healing? We sure have!   Today we talk with Tina “Kat” Courtney, known as The AfterLife Coach, a traditionally trained Ayahuasquera and Huachumera, carrying the Shipibo-Conibo, Quechua-Lamista, and Chavin plant medicine lineages.    She works as a ceremony guide, psychedelic integration coach, and is a certified Death Doula. Kat is an enthusiastic advocate for reverent and safe plant medicine experiences and is a passionate messenger of how to co-create magic without trauma in psychedelic spaces.  She is also the co-founder of Plant Medicine People, a Plant Medicine concierge company and the author of “Plant Medicine Mystery School”.     Listen in to hear how sacred plant medicines can help us all heal.     Topics We Discuss:   [3:30] Kat's first experiences with plant medicine. Becoming hopeful she was able to heal significant then-day challenges: bulimia, functional alcoholism, bipolar disorder.   [5:53] Appropriate reverence for sacred plant medicine.   [8:07]  Differences between plant consciousness and human consciousness.  Ego vs. unity consciousness.   [11:11] The pothole of spiritual bypassing using psychedelics.   [13:30] Drug Induced Ego Dissolution (DIED) aka Ego Death. The experience of unity consciousness – our connection to everything, interconnectedness and safety.   [17:16]  Kat cautions people NOT to force an ego death during a psychedelic experience from a place of “ego = bad”. Instead, take the experience from a place of self-love.      [19:28] The importance of integration following any peak experiences, whether from trauma, plant medicine, or life itself. Spending time making sense of the experience.   [23:09] Although not physically addictive, the real possibility of psychological addiction and abuse of plant medicines.    [25:25] Kat's thoughts, as a white woman from Montana, on Westernizing and capitalizing what is a traditionally indigenous ritual.   [32:47] Kat's assessment of lab-created synthetic vs. natural, organic psychedelics.   [36:25] The “personalities” of the major plant medicines: ayahuasca, psilocybin, Huachuca (San Pedro cactus), bufo toad venom, and iboga.   [42:18] Micro-dosing vs. divine dosing, and all points between.   [45:05] What the plants are saying about what humanity is doing globally today.   [48:36] Amy's speed round questions: What is spirituality? What is something people don't know about you? What is one thing you're looking forward to right now? What's one thing you're deeply grateful for? What book in on your nightstand? What is your favorite spiritual or healing practice? What is the most spiritually transformative experience of your life?     FOLLOW KAT COURTNEY:   If you'd like to work with Kat, or join her in a Sacred Ceremony (maybe a ayahuasca retreat), find out more at www.afterlife.coach and www.plantmedicinepeople.com.    You can find Kat's book “Plant Medicine Mystery School” on Amazon and wherever books are sold.   Or follow her on Instagram or LinkedIn.       SUPPORT DR. Una nota: para ver las notas del programa en español para este episodio, visite mi sitio web a: https://www.universewithinpodcast.com/podcast/jose-lopez-sanchezHey everybody! Episode 86 of the show is out. In this episode, I spoke with José López Sánchez. I have known José for a number of years since we both met working together at the Amazonian plant-medicine center the Temple of the Way of Light. I have worked extensively with his sisters and mother as well, Lila, Laura, and Ynes, who I also interviewed in previous episodes (see episodes 56 and 6). José is a highly-skilled and powerful Shipibo curandero, a doctor working with a traditional plant and energetic way of healing. He comes from a long line and family of healers and has been studying and working with plant medicines for a few decades now. In this episode, we talked about a number of subjects including his story, the Shipibos, ayahuasca, cosmovisions, and the importance of master plant dietas. José is quite special in that he has a mastery of both the Shipibo language as well as Spanish, and has worked with many Shipibos, mestizos, and foreigners. This ability to communicate this world of plant medicine and a knowledge of how different archetypal minds think is very unique and allows him to express sometimes esoteric or complex ideas in a language that a general public can easily understand and process. So I'm sure you all will learn a lot from José. Thank you to my friend Anne-Laure Vincke for the translation. The video version of the interview has subtitles while the audio version has English translation. As always, to support this podcast, get early access to shows, bonus material, and Q&As, check out my Patreon page below. Enjoy!Maestro José is the driving force of our center. He is the son of the legendary Shipibo Onaya (master plant-spirit healer) Maestra Ynes Sànchez Gonzales and Maestro David Lopèz and a lineage of powerful and well-respected healers dating back hundreds of years.Having apprenticed extensively first under his paternal grandfather, a Meraya (highest level Shipibo healer), then his uncle and his mother, since the age of seven years old, he received the wisdom of his ancestors, the Shipibo-Conibo cosmovision and sophisticated practices of Shipibo plant-spirit healing. He honorably bridges the modern world to traditional Amazonian medicine and has been healing many hundreds of people locally in various rainforest communities and in westerners ayahuasca centers throughout South America.Maestro José assumes his role of service with benevolence and tender strength. In this episode, I’m interviewing Gina Buenfeld-Murley, exhibitons curator of the Camden Art Centre and co-curator of the online exhibition The Botanical Mind. In this episode, we go deep into the relation between art and the natural world and talk about sacred geometry, indigenous art, symbolism, Jung, the mysterious Voynich manuscript and why this exhibition is so pertinent given the current relationship humans have to the rest of nature. Dr Ian Bedford’s Bug of the Week: Pollen beetles This episode is brought to you by the team at The Real Soil Company. Launched to the market in 2020 The Real Soil Company proudly offers new organic, peat-free SuperSoil. Packed full of organic nutrients for optimal plant health, SuperSoil’s natural ‘boosters’ will stimulate quicker plant establishment and better resilience against pests and disease, whilst also enabling edible crops to benefit from nutritional enhancement and a higher crop yield.  The enhanced soil also offers better water retention and release for optimum plant growth, whilst providing a more balanced and workable material for gardeners.  What we talk about: Sacred geometry and that patterns that are found in nature and in entheogenic experiences and which occur at the micro and macro level Georgio Griffa’s writing, which forms part of the exhibition, talks of art and science two being in extricably linked. How do seemingly pre-determined and logical patterns such as fractals influence art? Do the patterns stop being science when they are recreated by a human hand?  How can we be inspired by indigenous art and nature appreciation, both past and present, whilst avoiding cultural appropriation or slipping into romanticism?  The Voynich Manuscript The significance of Jung’s archetypes in relation to botany About The Botanical Mind and Gina Buenfeld-Murley Humanity’s place in the natural order is under scrutiny as never before, held in a precarious balance between visible and invisible forces: from the microscopic threat of a virus to the monumental power of climate change. Drawing on indigenous traditions from the Amazon rainforest; alternative perspectives on Western scientific rationalism; and new thinking around plant intelligence, philosophy and cultural theory, The Botanical Mind Online investigates the significance of the plant kingdom to human life, consciousness and spirituality across cultures and through time. It positions the plant as both a universal symbol found in almost every civilisation and religion across the globe, and the most fundamental but misunderstood form of life on our planet. Gina Buenfeld-Murley is Exhibitions Curator at Camden Art Centre, London where she has co-curated The Botanical Mind: Art, Mysticism and The Cosmic Tree (2020-21); A Tale of Mother’s Bones: Grace Pailthorpe, Reuben Mednikoff and the Birth of Psychorealism (2019); Athanasios Argianas, Hollowed Water (2020); Wong Ping, Heart Digger (2019); Yuko Mohri, Voluta, (2018); Joachim Koester, In the Face of Overwhelming Forces (2017); João Maria Gusmão & Pedro Paiva, Papagaio (2015); Bonnie Camplin (2016) and Rose English (2016). Recent independent curatorial projects include Gäa: Holistic Science and Wisdom Tradition, at Newlyn Art Gallery and The Exchange, Cornwall, and Origin Story, at The Wäinö Aaltonen Museum of Art, Turku, Finland (both 2019). In 2017 she was curatorial resident at Helsinki International Curatorial Programme, Finland and has been researching the place of plants within indigenous cultures in Europe and South America, including in Finnish Lapland (Samí shamanism) and in the Colombian, Peruvian and Brazilian areas of the Amazon Rainforest where she researched the sacred geometries and music of the Yawanawa, Huni Kuin and Shipibo-Conibo peoples. In 2014-15 she was curator-in-residence with Arts Initiative Tokyo (AIT) and established Tokyo Correspondence, a series of exhibitions, residencies and research visits, facilitating cultural dialogue between artists in the UK and Japan and curated At the Still Point of the Turning World at Shibaura House Tokyo, featuring work by Manon de Boer; Joachim Koester; Simon Martin; Ursula Mayer; Jeremy Millar; Sriwhana Spong; Jesse Wine; and Caroline Achaintre. On this edition of Parallax Views, globalization has led to culture shocks in societies around the world. What to make of this phenomenon, its interactions with culture and the way we live our lives, and what it means for the future? Critical theorist Brian Francis Culkin, co-author with Shipibo shaman Ricardo Amaringo of The Ayahuasca Dialogues: Globalization, Plant Medicine, and the Healing of the Human Heart, joins us to unpack the topic of globalization and it's relationship to what philosopher Byung Chul Han calls "The Burnout Society". In the first part of our conversation we focus on the aforementioned burnout is producing in citizens of various different nations as well as the ways in which globalization may be altering our social lives. In particular, Brian hones in on how the ever accelerating techno-society we are creating is moving away from the nuclear family unit as its foundation for society. Additionally, we delve into Brian's experiences with the indigenous Shipibo-Conibo people of the Amazon rainforest in Peru. This leads to a discussion of his collaboration with the previously mentioned healer Ricardo Amaringo and Brian's thoughts on the psychedelic plant drug ayahuasca. In this regard we discuss the the different perspectives on ayahuasca, ayahuasca tourism and its problems, ayahuasca as not merely a drug but also a medicine, and the importance of indigenous cultures. We also chat about ideas related to the apocalypse and End times, Byung-Chul Han's concept of "the autistic performance machine", the opening of the heart and seeing the other, neoliberalism and production, the human as a cosmic phenomenon and man as stardust, spirituality and materialism, Catholicism and Christianity, the humility of Carl Sagan vs. science and atheism as a theology, the value of friendship, and much, much more.

The Amazon Rainforest is the world's most abundant pharmacopeia - filled with countless plants that are used traditionally to heal physical, psychological and spiritual ailments. The traditional healers who live here say that they receive their knowledge as transmissions from the plants themselves during periods of solitary retreat in the jungle.  In this podcast, Gina Buenfeld - Co-Curator of The Botanical Mind - describes some of her experiences in the Amazon rainforest alongside recordings of Justina - a Maestra (healer) from the Shipibo-Conibo people, an ethnic group living along the Ucayali River in the Amazonian rainforest in Peru - to provide a rare insight into physical and spiritual relationships with sacred plants. For the last three years, Gina Buenfeld (Curator, Camden Art Centre), been researching traditional plant healing in Europe, Central and South America. In particular, she has spent time in the Colombian, Peruvian and Brazilian areas of the Amazon Rainforest learning about the plant-knowledge and healing practices of indigenous, and mestizo, communities.

On April 19 of last year, Arevalo was killed in her home in the Ucayali region of the Peruvian Amazon rainforest. Records show Woodroffe purchased a gun from a local police officer, and was the individual that confronted Arevalo at her home, subsequently leading to her death. Several days after this occurred, Woodroffe was lynched by several members of the community, after his image was posted around the region by relatives of Arevalo. Woodroffe’s lynching was documented in a shaky cellphone video, which ultimately led to this story gaining international media coverage after it was share online.  These events, while often discussed and framed in isolation by the Western press, fits within a far larger and richer context — expressed vividly in ‘The Cull of Personality.’ The extractivist and appropriative nature of the ayahuasca industry that has emerged and grown over the past several decades is embedded within the centuries-long colonization and exploitation of the Amazon Forest and its Indigenous inhabitants. In whatever form it comes in, Indigenous societies have been deeply traumatized through hundreds of years of enslavement, mutilation, and torture. How does the commodification and appropriation of Indigenous healing practices by Westerners in the modern era fit into the long and bloody history of the conquest of the Incan Empire in the 16th century, the vulcanization of rubber in the 19th century, as well as the subsequent enslavement of the Indigenous peoples of the Amazon under a debt-peonage system in order to extract rubber for Western markets? We answer this question in this episode. Kevin Tucker is a primal anarchist, writer, editor, independent researcher, publisher. [Intro: 22:35] In this episode, I speak with Kevin Tucker, author of ‘The Cull of Personality: Ayahuasca, Colonialism and the Death of a Healer’ — the subject of this interview. The book takes a deep dive into the reality of the ayahuasca eco-tourism industry, and places it within the centuries-long history of colonialism and resource extraction in the Amazon Region, in particular Peru, where much of narrative of this book is centered. The book begins with the description of the murder of 81-year-old Indigenous rights activist and healer Olivia Arevalo, a member of the Shipibo-Conibo people in Peru, by Sebastian Woodroffe, a Canadian man seeking to extract the methods of the Shipibo-Conibo practice of administering the psychedelic brew ayahuasca for healing purposes. Woodroffe’s lynching was documented in a shaky cellphone video, which ultimately led to this story gaining international media coverage after it was shared online.* It was the death of Woodroffe, not Arevalo, that led to this becoming an international story. An Interview with Maestro Shaman Richard Down, recorded on 16th April 2018 ahead of his Power Up Manchester event on 5th May 2018 at Heaven and Earth The Space. We discuss his life's journey from jack of all trades to psychotherapist and master NLP practitioner, then to the upper Amazon jungle of Peru, his time spent with the Shipibo -Conibo tribe and Maestro Shaman Antonia Vasquez Gallaretta, his introduction to plant medicine and healing songs known as icaros, to his current life as a maestro shaman, healing song carrier, icaro singer and sound healer. Richard passionately expresses his belief in the healing power of the human voice, the innate healing power we all carry, the need to master the mind and access our heart, soul and spirit, and, of course, his heartfelt mission to use icaros to promote world peace. His work has been described as producing sudden and dramatic healing results in individuals and audiences, and trails of testimonials to this can be found online.Richard’s healing songs and icaros are inspired by the Shipibo – Conibo tribe of indigenous medicine healers of the Peruvian Upper Amazon, especially his friend, maestro shaman, Antonio Vasquez Gallaretta. Here strong roots for his songs were created in vigils of repeated ceremony and constant immersion in icaro.Maestro Richard now 54 years of age regards himself with humour as a “young elder”. With a professional background in psychotherapy and hypnosis he often uses hypnotic language and storytelling techniques within his healing songs and soundscapes.Richard also enjoys the co-creations of work with his wife, Katerina Down – sound healer. They call themselves, Gateway to the Heart - and together they produce sound healing events, World Peace initiatives and an event tour of live performances of that they have called, “The Song,” a shamanic story and sound journey. In recent years Maestro Richard has been extending the healing power of his medicine songs, linking shamanic communities and gathering people together with a focus on creating pathways towards World Peace initiatives: Strong encouragement of loving ways and an emphasis on summarising wisdom are the mainstays of his message. For this reason Maestro Richard recently created “Power Up”, a live tour to spread his message of World Peace through his medicine song. The tour began successfully in London in March, and will be coming to the Heaven and Earth Space in Manchester on the 5th of May. In Richard’s own words, “People come together in the name of love – it’s time to co-create World Peace”.Listen to this episode on youtube: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Qxsk0gpMkgE&t=3sListen to this episode on itunes: https://itunes.apple.com/gb/podcast/truth-health-freedom-podcast/id1369946890?mt=2Follow the Truth Health Freedom Podcast at www.facebook.com/thfpodcast and at www.twitter.com/truthpodcast
