As part of the Comic Boom! and Comic Source collaboration, this DC Spotlight for the week of January 28, 2026 finds Jace and Rocky breaking down a packed slate of fourteen DC releases, with discussion opening on the passing and legacy of Sal Buscema before turning to the week's books. DC KO: The Kids Are All Fight Special #1 is examined for its focus on younger heroes and its place as a largely skippable but well-drawn tie-in, while Detective Comics #1105 continues Tom Taylor's "The Courage That Kills" arc with deeper insight into the Lion's origin and Gotham's escalating crisis. Harley Quinn #58 is discussed as the start of a new arc that feels tonally familiar, followed by the Supergirl Next Door Valentine's anthology, which offers mixed results across stories spotlighting Supergirl, Jay Garrick, Poison Ivy, Guy Gardner, Wonder Woman, Swamp Thing, Martian Manhunter, and Green Arrow. Green Lantern #31 features a nostalgic Hal Jordan and Barry Allen team-up that advances Jeremy Adams' larger arc in subtle ways, while Superman #34 pushes Superboy Prime further into moral conflict against the Dark Legion. Absolute Martian Manhunter #8 stands out for its conceptual storytelling and increased narrative momentum, The Flash #29 introduces Dream Girl as a potential crack in Darkseid's Legion, and Harley and Ivy: Love and Crimes #3 explores the early dynamics between Harley Quinn and Poison Ivy with a more grounded emotional approach. Justice League Unlimited #15 and Justice League Red #6 wrap major threads involving Neuron, time-displaced heroes, and Red Tornado's reckoning, while Absolute Batman #16 delivers a character-driven underworld journey with Wonder Woman that highlights Bruce Wayne's loyalty and sacrifice. Absolute Flash #11 provides major revelations about the Still Point and the source of Wally West's power, and Absolute Wonder Woman #16 launches the "Season of the Witch" arc with Absolute Zatanna and a reimagined Suicide Squad, setting the stage for one of the week's most consequential confrontations.
Beloved, Happy Solstice - the RETURN TO LIGHT. This day is a moment every year when the world is invited to pause and to stop. It's quiet, almost imperceptible, but if you're paying attention—you can feel it.It happens on the Winter Solstice. The longest night. The shortest day. The edge between what has been and what is yet to come.We call it a turning point, but really—it's a still point. As the earth tilts away from the sun, everything pauses. The trees sleep. The fields rest. Even our bodies seem to crave slower rhythms, as if the ancient part of us remembers: this is the time to exhale.“The day/night of Winter Solstice is a liminal time… the moment between nights getting longer and nights getting shorter.”In the rush of daily life, we rarely let ourselves pause in that in-between. We push through dark mornings. We complain about early sunsets. We fill every silence with something to do.The White Stag, a symbol of the Winter Solstice, represents Spirit or messengers in many cultures. Seen as purified totems glowing with inner light, they offer teachings and wisdom from beyond that can transform us in unexpected ways. White Stags are also considered doorways to other realms, both a blessing and a force to be respected—following them may demand everything from you with no guarantee of return. The White Stag's link to the Winter Solstice comes from the season's clarity: with foliage gone, stark contrasts reveal what was hidden. In winter, stags are at their most powerful—gathering herds, mating for the next generation, protecting them, and embodying the forest's spirit. But just as the Solstice marks the pause before light's return, we too need the pause before renewal. So how do we embrace this? Here's what rises:* Breathe in the dark. Literally. Stand outside at noon on Solstice. Let the gloom press against your skin. Inhale stillness. Exhale striving.* Sharpen your tools. Not just hammers or skis—but your inner ones. What thoughts, habits, or regrets clutter your spirit? Write them down, then burn or bury the paper.* Move like the whitestag. Stags do not rush in the presence of fear..* It listens. Sit quietly for 10 minutes. Notice what shifts when you stop doing.Reflect with me:* What burden are you ready to release, like the stag shedding antlers?* Where might the White Stag appear in your ordinary? A sunset? A child's laugh?* How can you honor the sacred pause, instead of rushing toward spring?Winter Solstice doesn't promise instant rebirth. It gifts us a threshold—a chance to stand bare and brave, trusting that light will return. As the example of the seasonal symbol of the White Stag - they show us, strength and grace are dance partners. Shed the unnecessary. Rest deeply. Let your inner light rekindle. The longest night is not an end. It's the breath before the dawn.Love and deep rest, KassandraHey….PS:In times of change and uncertainty, knowing which step to take next can feel overwhelming. The path to sovereign wealth and intentional living requires us to tap into our most valuable resource: our intuition. The Light Between Oracle Journey is your personal guide—offering oracle readings, reflective journaling prompts, and tools to ground your inner knowing. It blends ancient wisdom with modern neuroscience to help you find clarity and take empowered action, one breath, one choice at a time. When I provide a topic or block for transformation, I help uncover life's hidden light, waiting for you to bring it forth.Choose to be in the drivers seat to self empowerment and next-era growth.
This talk explores the power and peace found at the still point—the place of awareness untouched by the waves of thought and emotion. When we take the seat of the witness, we discover a dimension of consciousness that is both intimate and vast, both deeply embodied and profoundly free. Drawing on the Buddha's teachings on mindfulness and insight, this talk illuminates how awareness itself can become the refuge, how turning toward what arises with stillness and curiosity reveals the freedom that has always been here. You'll learn how to recognize and rest in the witnessing presence that observes all experience without judgment or grasping. Through stories, reflection, and guided inquiry, you'll explore how to move from reactivity to stillness, from self-identification to awareness itself. You'll discover that when you bring compassionate attention to the body, mind, and heart, the turbulence of experience becomes the very path to awakening—the dance around the still point.

This we wrap up our discussion of the Eightfold Path by talking about 3 components of Meditation/samādhi: Wise Effort, Wise Mindfulness, and Wise Concentration. We'll talk about how our meditation practice isn't just to calm the mind, and why we need it now more than ever. Plus I'll give you some ways you can begin practicing samādhi in your own daily life. You will learn:// The real reason we meditate (it's not what you think!)// The 3 parts of samādhi: Wise Effort, Wise Mindfulness, and Wise Concentration// Why modern industrialized society has given many of us a complicated relationship with “effort”// How meditation (samādhi) trains the mind to pause between impulse and action - not to escape life, but to meet it fully.// Why ethical living quiets inner conflict and creates the ground for real peace and a solid meditation practice.// How to recognize when effort becomes striving// What mindfulness truly means: remembering what matters and staying awake to what's real, even when it's uncomfortable.// How concentration offers refuge in an age of distraction// Why the Eightfold Path isn't about checking out, but learning to see clearly and act with integrity in a world that needs awake hearts.Resources:// Episode 44: The Power of the Pause// Episode 208: The Sit Spot Practice - When It's Hard to Meditate// Episode 209: Ripening and the Inevitability of Our Awakening// Listen to Ana talk with Brooke Castillo on The Life Coach School Podcast about how Buddhism was using thoughtwork thousands of years ago// Episode 278: Off the Cushion and Into the World – Part 1 Intro and the Three Jewels// Episode 279: Reality Check – Off the Cushion + Into the World Part 2// Episode 281: Wisdom In Action – Off the Cushion Part 3// Episode 282: Remembering Our Humanity – A Lesson of the Ages// If you're new to the squad, grab the Rebel Buddhist Toolkit I created at RebelBuddhist.com. This Solstice is not a rest—it's a harmonic recalibration. In this sacred pause, your Soul is anchoring new timelines—not through urgency or performance, but through coherence, crystalline stillness, and inner infrastructure. The June 20, 2025 Solstice marks a planetary still point,a crystalline corridor where Light pauses before shifting direction. But in this pause, something greater is happening:your Soul is stabilizing not a concept, but a frequency—through the body, through the breath, through the field. We are in the Still Point of Becoming—where Light Truth settles, Light codes translate into form, and the nervous system learns to hold Soul integrity without collapse. In this episode, we explore:Incoming Solstice CodesThe final phase of the Tri-Wave Recalibration CycleThe embodiment of the Wave of Becoming—not as vision, but as vibration grounded in your spine, field, and knowing
Jody Hojin Kimmel, Sensei - ZCNYC - 6/15/25 - Here we are sincerely and directly acting on this urge to be still -quiet. We will most likely sense that THIS is a good desire—it seems to settle and ground us rather than pull us into yet further desire. When we sit still and quiet with nothing else to do or be —except ourselves, we often meet, if only briefly, a deep satisfaction. In that moment, whatever we are is enough. Joko Beck writes: “Only in that instant when we and the object become one can we see what our life is."
Ever feel like you're drowning in a sea of noise? Like the world's chaos is cranked up to 11 and you can't hear yourself think? You're not alone, my friend. In this episode, we're diving deep into the art of staying calm when everything around us feels like it's going bonkers.Let's face it - our world is loud. From breaking news to social media pings, from work emails to family group chats, it's a constant barrage of information. And while some of this noise is important (hello, world-changing events!), a lot of it is just... well, noise. It's the kind of stuff that leaves us feeling drained, overwhelmed, and disconnected from our inner selves. The Three Types of NoiseThe wake-up call: This is the good noise that reminds us we're alive and part of something bigger. The pseudo-urgency: Those clickbait headlines designed to hack our nervous systems. The background static: The sneaky, everyday distractions that dull our intuition.Finding Your Calm in the StormBut don't worry, I've got your back. We'll talk about practical ways to turn down the volume and tune into what really matters. You'll learn how to:Pause and ask yourself key questions when you're feeling overwhelmedDistinguish between meaningful action and emotional reactionsGive yourself permission to rest and rechargeWhy It MattersHere's the kicker: finding calm isn't just about feeling good (though that's pretty awesome). It's about becoming the kind of person the world needs right now. Someone who's:Rooted, not reactiveSovereign, not scatteredClear and conscious, not caught up in the noiseRemember, you don't have to carry the weight of the world on your shoulders 24/7. It's not selfish to take care of yourself - it's absolutely necessary. So, if you're ready to find your zen in the middle of life's circus, tune in. Let's turn down the volume together and rediscover the power of a calm, clear mind.

An overview of the clinical interactions currently available focused on child-caregiver interaction in the 0-3 age range. 4. Insight into six key areas relating to different processes of coregulation and dysregulation in the parent-infant pair. 5. What the reviews find in terms of cultural bias, especially as ideas around caregiver and infant interactions are often based around wester ideals, and how this can be addressed.
Do you ever have a minute to slow down and listen for what God might be wanting to say to you, or are your “conversations” a chance for you to do the talking? In this guided meditation, led by Spiritual Director, Cathy Batey, you'll be encouraged to slow down, relax, journey, and listen. This week we're joined by our good friend and contributor to Faith Matters, Thomas McConkie, along with his longtime mentor and friend, John Kesler. In many ways, Thomas and John's paths were mirror images of each other until they eventually collided. John Kesler developed an awareness and life practice called IPP or Integral Polarity Practice that has had a profound impact on Thomas's life. You're going hear a little about polarities or fundamental tensions of human development and how in finding the "still points" in these seeming opposites, we can experience a real relief of that tension and a transcendent peace. Both Thomas and John believe that one of the gifts of our tradition is that it has the structure and scaffolding that creates rich, fertile ground for genuine development. And at the same time, they see that at different seasons of our lives we experience struggle, even struggle around belief. And yet, as John says, in those experiences, we learn that "there's something down deep that's there that can hold us and nurture us." And that these depths can bring us not beyond belief but to the source of belief. This conversation felt so abundant. It felt like a starting place. Thomas and John will be hosting a handful of retreats and events this summer so if you are interested in learning more, you can check out all of those opportunities in the links below.Transformations of Faith CourseAt One Ment: Embodying the Fullness of Human-Divinity, by Thomas McConkie
“Dance Talk” ® with Joanne and special guest, Betti Franceschi. In this episode of “Dance Talk” ® with Joanne Carey, join host Joanne Carey as she chats with a very Special Guest, 90 year old Betti Franceschi. She is an artist, painter, sculptor, and now new author. Betti joins me on her very first podcast interview where we talk about her lifelong love of ballet, dance, and art. A life-long stutterer, Betti talks about her constant search for grace in all things she does. She candidly shares that stuttering is seen as a lack of grace, but let me assure you- this beautiful lady is FILLED with grace and exudes it! Listen in as we laugh and share stories and learn about her new photography book that embodies the longevity of the elder dancer titled, Ageless Dancers. You are going to want to get this book and if you're like me, you are going to want to listen to this inspirational and light-filled lady over-and-over again! Betti Franceschi is an artist who has done a double major in school and in life: fine art and ballet. Born in 1934 and raised in Cleveland, Ohio, she studied ballet with Marguerite de Anguera at Indiana University, Bloomington, fine art with Roger Anliker at Carnegie Tech (now Carnegie Mellon), and art history with Rosalind Krauss at Hunter College. Her Still Point drawings—vertical-hatched, tightly realistic nude close-ups of dancers' centers—were published in London as a book (The Still Point, 1987) designed by Simon Rendall, which won six nominations to the National Trust Show in London and Frankfurt, and were exhibited at Sadlers Wells in London, the National Museum of Dance in Saratoga Springs, New York, and the Philharmonic Center in Naples, Florida, among other venues. Her explosive, almost abstract, zen-calligraphic Signature Drawings (1983–1986) of dancers in motion, have been exhibited in several venues, including the New York State Theater, home of the New York City Ballet. Her early work was mostly portraits, then turned to focus on movement, with figure drawings and paintings, and later sculptures of dancers. In 2016 her interest in gesture brought her to photography for her Ageless Dancers project, a series of elegant, joyous portraits of dancers in the latter years of life. Her work has been reviewed in the London Evening Standard, The New York Times, the Saratogian, the New York City Ballet Playbill, and Dance Magazine. Franceschi lives in New York City. This episode parallels these three dimensions with the still pond which can accurately reflect the environment, the quiet forest in which the true sounds of nature can be detected, and the clear mirror free from smudges or debris like a calm mind without judgment.Original artwork can be seen on the podcast website.
This riveting interview discusses The Still Point: The Simplicity of Spiritual Enlightenment book. Most people are living lives with varying degrees of stress or unease. In some, this is felt as mild unease or dissatisfaction; in others, it manifests as outright anxiety and depression. According to the book's author, Kevin Krenitsky, all these symptoms are due to a widely held but false underlying belief- that we are separate, isolated individuals, unconnected to others or the world around us. In The Still Point, we are directly led back to the recognition that our true nature of being is shared with all sentient creatures–and its inherent qualities are peace and happiness. This teaching has been called the ‘perennial philosophy' because it is the core message of all the great spiritual traditions throughout the ages. The fact that this realization has been overlooked by society as a whole has led to horrific consequences, including war, famine, and deeply unconscious behavior toward the planet and its inhabitants. Humanity has reached the point where it is necessary to recognize our ever-present being as unbroken peace. Only from this realization can we turn this planet into the paradise it was always meant to be and find happiness at the heart of the human experience. During this interview, we will discuss: What does “we are all One” really mean? Why fighting for freedom doesn't work to bring about peaceWhether karma or re-incarnation existsWhere addictions come fromThe direct approach to “enlightenment.” New insights into the ethics of eating a meat-based or plant-based diet If you'd like to get a copy of The Still Point, CLICK HERE!

If there is one thing God cannot do, is change. Changing his character, His ways, His nature, is not even a possibility. God's promise to us is that He will never do that. And the promise of God's immutability, His unchanging nature, is where we can anchor our lives in an ever-changing world of chaos, uncertainty, and ambiguity.

Movement at the Still Point, An Ode to Dance In this episode of “Dance Talk” ® with Joanne Carey, join host Joanne Carey as she chats with Special Guest: Mark Mann, renowned Celebrity Photographer, who found himself, like all of us, silent and without a space to create during the COVID-19 pandemic shutdown. For an artist, not being able to create is lonely, for a dancer, not being able to move, is a daily death. Enter sister-in-law, Loni Landon, choreographer, dancer & movement director living in NYC who suggested to Mark to take some photographs of her community who were hurting as well. Together with Loni, Jacob Levy (Mark's producer) along with a host of other yes's, and over 140 dancers, a collaboration was born that transcends any photographic lens. Mark says it best: "In what had been my first moment of stillness, I discovered boundless humanity in their movement. This book is a testament to the power of their expression, in movement and stillness." MARK MANN is a renowned celebrity and advertising photographer who originally hails from the sun-soaked streets of Glasgow Scotland. The countless list of famous faces photographed in Mann's unique and recognizable style includes President Barack Obama, President Bill Clinton, Iggy Pop, Rihanna, Martin Scorcese, Jennifer Aniston, Stevie Wonder, Eartha Kitt, Robin Williams, Emma Stone, Bill Murray, Jessica Lange, Arthur Miller, Margot Robbie, Robert Redford, Queen Latifah, Michael Douglas, Gillian Anderson, Dave Chappelle, Olivia Wilde, Bradley Cooper, Willie Nelson, Sean Connery and many more. Mark's editorial work has appeared in Esquire, Men's Health, Vibe, Spin, Fortune, Billboard, Parade, and Complex, and his clients include Reebok, Adidas, Hennessy, Bombay Sapphire, Pepsi, Gillette, Vitamin Water, NHL, Zumba, Ford, Chrysler, and Svedka to name a few. Always hungry for new subjects and challenges Mark has spearheaded his own projects over the years, one of which was creating a collection of LUCHA LIBRE wrestlers. Where all the photographs were shot on a vintage Graflex camera using polaroid instant film. Most recently he was struck by the contrast of dancing bodies to his traditional portraits in a new body of work which culminated in a book titled Movement at The Still Point: an Ode to Dance published by Rizzoli International in March 2023. Mark was born in Glasgow, where he lived until he was accepted to the prestigious photographic program at Manchester Polytechnic. Upon graduating Mark was immediately taken under the wing by innovative fashion photographers, Nick Knight and Miles Aldridge, where he learned the ropes and quickly built his own body of work. Three years later, Mark started shooting on his own and relocated to New York City where 26 years later he still lives with his wife and son, and their recently adopted Chihuahua, Shaq. https://movementatthestillpoint.com/ Follow @markmannphoto on Instagram Follow Joanne Carey on Instagram @westfieldschoolofdance And follow “Dance Talk” ® with Joanne Carey wherever you listen to your podcasts. ONCE UPON A GENE - EPISODE 170 A Rare Collection - New Beginnings There's power in storytelling- for the listener and the storyteller. A Rare Collection is a monthly series featuring people from the rare disease community, sharing a story with a common theme. EPISODE HIGHLIGHTS Noelle When your child has a progressive, degenerative disease, you learn that every moment is precious and to roll with the punches. My son Logan has a rare genetic disorder called Sanfilippo Syndrome, a progressive and fatal disorder that causes mental and physical deterioration. Children lose the ability to perform skills such as walking, talking and swallowing. There's not currently a treatment or cure. The day Logan was diagnosed, I learned life doesn't always go as planned. The picture perfect future planned in my head was gone. I grieved my child and the future I thought we would have. I was scared of the new future and I closed myself off emotionally. I can't change what the future holds for Logan, but I don't want to miss up on feeling the love, joy, and even the sadness that comes along with this new beginning. I live in the moment and when something goes wrong in life, I yell "plot twist" and move on. Frances In Emily Rapp Black's memoir, The Still Point of the Turning World, she describes parents of terminally ill children as dragon parents. Like medieval map makers inscribing unknown regions of the world, we represent a parent's worst fear- the grief of receiving a death sentence for their child. My daughter Violet passed all of her newborn screenings in the hospital, but I soon became concerned with how sleepy she was and how difficult she was to feed. Our pediatrician referred us to a neurologist who ordered a brain ultrasound and genetic testing, but the results didn't offer any answers. With more symptoms developing, I sought out more opinions and Violet was finally diagnosed with a rare and fatal mitochondrial disease called pyruvate dehydrogenase complex deficiency (PDCD). My transition and new beginning as a dragon mom had already begun as I flew around every last corner of the internet hunting for answers, ready to breathe fire upon anyone who tried to harm my daughter. Violet is a powerful unicorn teacher and I am her fierce and loyal dragon. Patrick My son Calum has rare chromosome abnormalities. His first seizure was scary and opened a chapter full of new beginnings. As his dad, this chapter taught me to be grateful and to have a perspective that allows me to celebrate every moment I can. Calum's first seizure was an awakening. I realized that I needed more opportunities and experiences with my kids and to focus more on them and less on myself and my work. We celebrate every day like the new day it is and Calum has given me that perspective.
