This month’s podcast is a haunting soundscape suitable for your halloweening needs. It features some old Casios (MT-68, SK-1, CZ-101) along with some more modern synthesizers (Strega, Soft Pop, Cloudbusting) and guitar. Beware! Its scary stuff*, be sure to have some extra pants nearby… *mildly scary. Discograffiti host Dave Gebroe conducted a 13-hour interview with the two founders of legendary 1960s soft pop act The Association, Terry Kirkman and Jules Alexander, in which they rated the entirety of their own discography. It's impossible to adequately put into words how surreal this series is. Trust me, it's unquestionably a ride worth taking no matter how you feel about the genre. Welcome aboard the most lunatic series in Discograffiti history. In Part 4, the final chapter (!), we tackle: What it felt like to tumble so quickly from the charts; How many ⭐️'s outta five Terry & Jules give Stop Your Motor (1971), Waterbeds In Trinidad (1972), and the slew of generic singles released through the 1970s & ‘80s; And the not-so-happy-sounding Happy Together Tour during which Terry insists their manager stole millions of dollars from his acts and invited Terry to take part! NEXT WEEK: AN INTERVIEW WITH PAVEMENT'S BOB NASTANOVICH! 2-3 podcasts / week: Patreon.com/Discograffiti Currently, there are close to 100 PATREON EPISODES! Además completan la actualidad internacional M83, Jonathan Bree, A Certain Ratio, Temples, Francis Alban Blake, John Gallen, Bless My Heroes, Thilo, Django Django, Diving at Down, Freyr, Seafret y Beabadoobee. Die Londoner Produzentin Elles zeichnet auf ihrem Debütalbum „A Celebration Of The Euphoria Of Life“ eine Clubnacht nach. Auf ihrem zweiten Soloalbum „And Those Who Were Seen Dancing“ spielt die kanadische Musikerin Tess Parks schwer schleppende, verhallte Psychedelia. Dazu stellen wir 12 neue Songs des Monats vor: Zarte Breakbeats von Loraine James, 90s-Alternative-Pop von Been Stellar, IDM-Alleskönner von µ-Ziq, Sample-Monster von Four Tet, Art-Pop von Painting, 00er-Dubstep von Alix Perez uvm. “Like a musician understands the importance of silence, a dancer must understand the importance of stillness, and yoga can open us up to that aspect of dance.” In this episode we speak with Tai Jimenez. We discuss the benefits of yoga for dancers, beginning a meditation practice, reaching a flow state of movement, and finding happiness within limitations. Tai also shares challenges that she has faced during her professional career and the creation of a movement meditation called soft pop. About Tai: Tai is a Professor of Dance at the Boston Conservatory teaching ballet technique. Tai has been a principal dancer with both Dance Theater of Harlem and Boston Ballet. She is also a certified yoga instructor teaching at both JP Yoga and Raquel Mara Movement Collective. She has created a movement meditation called Soft Pop. Additionally, Tai writes about dance, life, and spirituality on her blog taijimenez.com.Follow Tai on Instagram: taipiyungjimenezTai's Blog: taijimenez.comTake class with Tai!: https://www.jpcentreyoga.com/https://www.raquelmarrayoga.com Support our podcast: https://www.patreon.com/movementtowardchange Movementtowardchange.org Instagram: @movementtowardchange

Beat Soft Pop performing live on the Local Shakedown!
In an episode first broadcast August 26, 2013, host Andrew Sandoval plays twenty 1960's 45's collected from his recent travels through the United States working with The Monkees. These include singles by: The Berkeley Kites, The Lime, The Impact Express, The In-Keepers, The Scene, The Lovin', Crowd +1, Bazooka, The Long Brothers, Disciples of Shaftesbury, Bobby Lile, The Chips, Johnny Draper, The Fireballs, dRAKE, The Higher Elevation, The Hamilton Face Band, The Back Seat, The Downtown Collection and Crib & Ben. Hour two features 20 slices of the Five Americans in MONO! Many of these sides have never appeared on CD, let alone in mono, and if you are not familiar with the songwriting of Mike Rabon, Norman Ezell & John Durrill, you are in for both an education and a treat. From Garage to Pop to Baroque to Psych to Bubblegum to Soft Pop to total Heavyocity, these five Americans pretty much did it all.
Singer songwriter Kyle Vincent joins Chad in the MESH studio on this latest episode of "I'm With The Band". Kyle signed to MCA as a solo artist and recorded his album "Trust". This led to being the opening act for Barry Manilow on the "Greatest Hits and Then Some" tour. Some have called him the "Crown Prince of Soft Pop" and now it's our turn to go behind the scenes with him.
Heaven Is Above Your Head was a weekly radio show and podcast while I was living in New Zealand. For the second hour of every show my friends and I would all play exactly what we wanted and maybe have a dance. They have kept the slot and you can now listen to Simply Thrilled (http://www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=118285020973) every Saturday on non-commercial station Fleet FM (http://fleetfm.co.nz/), at 9pm local time or 9am GMT. If you happen to miss it they usually post a link on the Anorak forum afterwards. The previous episodes of HIAYH can all be found on my blog (http://heavenisabove.blogspot.com/). So the theme for this is 60s music, but avoiding the collectors scenes of garage and northern soul. What I ended up with was this great set of soft pop, haunted by the spirit of the Pye and Immediate labels. I was going to make it like an ordinary radio show at first, with spoken links, cause I felt I had a lot to say about the songs at the time. That was a couple of months ago though, so now I just mixed them together as they are. I hope you will appreciate the blending of some proper hits with more obscure would-be hits. Like the British group Thursday's Children who only released one single in 1965. And "Among the First to Know" which is one of my all-time faves, and has been covered by The Happy Balloon. The Mascots was a Swedish Hollies-styled group, here showing off their freakbeat side with a track from their great and only lp *EELPEE*. The American Breed had a couple of hits, but this string-laden ballad can't keep me from thinking of Belle & Sebastian. The Chants are notable for being a black vocal group from Liverpool, whose live debut took place in 1962 with The Beatles backing them. Read their story here: http://www.triumphpc.com/mersey-beat/a-z/chants.shtml! The group The Missing Links here is not the Australian one, but an American with one single to their name. Harmony Grass was a late 60s mutation of the Beach Boys-influenced Tony Rivers & the Castaways. And The Raindrops was of course the pseudonym used by the late great Ellie Greenwich and Jeff Barry for their own recordings. Enough talk.1. The Outsiders - Gimme Some Lovin'2. Marc Eric - Just Passing By3. The Ivy League - A Girl Like You4. The Missing Links - You Hypnotize Me5. The Two of Each - Trust6. The Happenings - Crazy Rhythm7. The Exciters - Tell Him8.
