Travis Brown jumped up to 90,000 followers on Instagram in just six weeks, and he's joining us on today's Insight Out episode to give YOU the tools you need to make that happen on your own social media platform.  As we dive into how his hit idea Pod Decks came to fruition, media consumption, the pressure to create viral content, secrets to a great hook, and more, you'll learn about his journey to his multitude of business endeavors, how he hopes to help fellow content creators, and get a peek into his own content creation process.  You don't want to miss out on this opportunity to hear about how the man who lived and breathed podcasts broadened his business and his audience!  Let's Meet Our Guest Travis Brown is a social media content creator, keynote speaker, and Social Boom coach who believes in helping creatives, entrepreneurs, and business-minded individuals of the world reach their audience and their goals. While his own social media content focuses on business and income-inspired content (beginning with his unique tagline “Here's a business idea – do something with it!”), his work for Social Boom centers on supporting and encouraging the rapid growth of anyone he seeks out his expertise.  Here's What You'll Learn How to manage your expectations and anxiety for your own creative output (3:30) Why testing your strategies before committing to them is important (9:50) Mindless scrolling vs. conscious consumption (17:00) How to do your research in this field and why it's essential (42:10) Brown's tips for crafting hooks and calls to action (45:08) His top two tools for content creation right now (57:23) Where you can find his content, a community of like-minded individuals, and resources for your own growth (1:00:18) Travis Brown's Thoughts on Content Creation & Research Media Consumption: Manage the habit (and comparison) by setting a timer before you scroll.  Pay attention to what's working and what draws you in. Use this time to research! Creating Content: Let go of the expectation that your content needs to always succeed or go viral. Manage your anxiety about the pressure so you can create freely!  Do your research by paying attention to popular content, hooks, etc.  Define your outcome. What are people going to get from consuming your content? Test your ideas to see what works and what doesn't.  Once you find what works, stick with it! Your hook should remain constant, and keep your content within your niche.  Crafting a Hook: Your hook can play on people's fear of missing out, be a listicle, or even work to relate to your audience.  Whichever you choose, you want to draw them in with a big statement that requires a reveal. After your big statement, offer your audience that instant gratification with an answer! If you wait around to reveal, you risk losing their attention.  How to Research on TikTok: Open TikTok and filter by content made in the last three months and “most liked” content. This will show you what's working RIGHT NOW.  Look around and pay attention to hooks, video formatting, graphics, etc.  Let this inspire you and fuel the success of your own content!  Quotes Billy Samoa Saleebey “Sometimes you gotta slow down to speed up.” “Being able to pivot is a superpower.” Travis Brown “You don't need more information. You need more action.” “Nobody cares; we're just making chairs.” (Originally Chris Ballew) “Research gives me a lottery ticket with five of the numbers already filled out.” “Virality comes from predictability, not creativity.” Resources & Links to Travis Brown's Socials  Travis Brown Instagram: @travisbrown (If you DM “pm22” to Travis on Instagram, you'll receive his 10,000 Follower Blueprint book.) We dive deep into the transformative power of trust and how it serves as a cornerstone of inspiration in leadership. You need more action.” “Nobody cares; we're just making chairs.” (Originally Chris Ballew) “Research gives me a lottery ticket with five of the numbers already filled out.” “Virality comes from predictability, not creativity.” Resources & Links to Travis Brown's Socials  Travis Brown Instagram: @travisbrown (If you DM “pm22” to Travis on Instagram, you'll receive his 10,000 Follower Blueprint book.) Our dads, the real-life heroes in our families, shape who we become, teach us important values, and help us navigate life's twists and turns. In today's episode of the Insight Out podcast, I have the pleasure of having a conversation with Paul Epstein. Paul has a remarkable background as a former top-tier executive in both NFL and NBA organizations, and he's also a two-time bestselling author of the books "The Power of Playing Offense" and "Better Decisions Faster." His exceptional achievements in 2022 earned him a spot among SUCCESS magazine's prestigious list of accomplished thought leaders, sharing the spotlight with well-known names such as Tony Robbins, Brené Brown, Gary Vaynerchuk, and Mel Robbins. Furthermore, Paul's work has received significant recognition and media coverage, being featured on major platforms like ESPN, NBC, Fox Business, and USA Today.  In our conversation, Paul shares powerful stories about the impact his parents had on his life, shaping his core values of growth, impact, courage, authenticity, and belief. He discusses his father's influence on his students and his mother's courage in the face of adversity. Paul also talks about his journey from a successful sports manager to a more authentic self, acknowledging the role of his executive coach, Suzanne, in this transformation. What if I told you that while the world has undergone profound changes, our leadership approaches have remained largely stagnant? What if, instead of relying on hierarchical structures and top-down directives, leaders embraced a more effective approach based on trust and inspiration? In this episode of the Insight Out, I have the pleasure of sitting down with none other than Stephen M.R. Covey, a renowned author and an authority on leadership. We dive deep into the transformative power of trust and how it serves as a cornerstone of inspiration in leadership. Covey draws a stark contrast between the antiquated command and control style and the trust and inspire approach, which he passionately advocates for as being crucial in today's world, especially when dealing with knowledge workers. Throughout our conversation, Covey shares personal anecdotes and real-world examples that bring his concepts to life. Such examples are the leadership styles of Microsoft's CEO, Satya Nadella and the leadership approach of Zoom CEO Eric Yuan which epitomizes the principles we discuss. He then breaks down the three stewardships of a trust and inspire leader—modeling, trusting, and inspiring. Each of these plays a vital role in not just leading but empowering others to reach their full potential. Covey doesn't just leave us with theory; he offers practical advice on how to build agreements that lay the foundation for a collaborative and empowered workplace. Join us as we explore these insightful themes and let's uncover how trust and inspiration can reshape the landscape of leadership In this episode, you will learn the following: Leadership and its impact on individuals Shifting from command and control to trust and inspire leadership The principles of trust and inspire contrasted with command and control The importance of self-awareness and a shift towards trust and inspire leadership The barriers to becoming a trust and inspire leader The three stewardships of a trust and inspire leader: modeling, trusting, and inspiring In This Episode: [01:22] Introduction to Stephen M.R. Liz has conducted significant research in the field of leadership and collective intelligence and writes for Harvard Business Review, Fortune, and a variety of other business and leadership journals. A former executive at Oracle Corporation, over the course of 17 years, Liz was the Vice President of Oracle University and a global leader in Human Resource Development. Her management research and executive development firm The Wiseman Group is focused on developing leaders around the globe who can take on the world's toughest challenges. Her client list includes Apple, Disney, Facebook, Google, Microsoft, and Twitter. As you will see in this show, I met Liz when she spoke at Tesla and it resulted in one of the most memorable and emotional professional experiences in my life.  On the show, we dive into the concepts of Multipliers and Rookie Smarts and she tells personal insight stories that have helped make her the person she is today. She explains the interesting reason why she decided to leave Oracle, and how that planted the seed for one of her books. We discuss her insights as a mother of 4 and a busy professional, and how her world was changed when she realized the management skill she used at work is the exact same skillset she used at home. She also shares how and why she created labels in her books to help provide a framework and language to discuss what she calls the “undiscussable” - A multiplier is a genius maker and helps to activate everyone around them to be their best by spending their energy on extracting and extending the genius of others. A diminisher does the exact opposite, by restricting others and holding them back from showing their what she calls “native genius”. We will discuss this in detail, including giving an example of the “accidental diminisher” - someone who has positive intentions but inadvertently diminishes those around them. She also gives some sage advice for parents on how to balance life and family. I'm beyond thrilled to release today's show and can thank Liz enough for being my guest so please enjoy this episode of Insight Out! Our dads, the real-life heroes in our families, shape who we become, teach us important values, and help us navigate life's twists and turns. Quotes Billy Samoa Saleebey “Sometimes you gotta slow down to speed up.” “Being able to pivot is a superpower.” Travis Brown “You don't need more information. You need more action.” “Nobody cares; we're just making chairs.” (Originally Chris Ballew) “Research gives me a lottery ticket with five of the numbers already filled out.” “Virality comes from predictability, not creativity.” Resources & Links to Travis Brown's Socials  Travis Brown Instagram: @travisbrown (If you DM “pm22” to Travis on Instagram, you'll receive his 10,000 Follower Blueprint book.) After starting as a barista in 1996 to becoming the co-founder, owner, and Co-CEO of Biggby Coffee, this week's guest on Insight Out is Mike McFall, a growth-minded entrepreneur that believes in the power of self-awareness, positivity, and conscious capitalism as the core values of a successful business.  His book, Grind: A No-Bullshit Approach to Take Your Business from Concept to Cash Flow, focuses on the importance of revenue and practical ways to build cash flow in a budding company. He also explores his philosophy that business requires us to be aggressive and simultaneously self-aware.  In this episode, Mike and I discuss the road to becoming CEO of a successful corporation, why conscious capitalism and company culture are at the core of employee retention, why focus is a critical component in building a business, and more. In this episode, we discuss: The key lessons that sailing around the world at 16 taught Mike (3:40) Mike's journey as a Red Wings fan and the importance of visioning work (5:43) A breakdown of the visualization process (10:06) How Mike was introduced to conscious capitalism and the way it transformed his business (13:10) How Mike became partners with Bob Fish (23:44) The importance of competition in business (27:28) Why self awareness is a critical component of your business (29:43) How to ask for valuable feedback (33:10) The biggest contributor to Biggby Coffee's success (35:41) Mike's advice for aspiring or current business owners (38:26)  Why entrepreneurs need to be like the sun (44:30)  Mike's approach to fostering a people-first company (48:07) How to develop company culture that respects the employees (51:37) Where to find Mike McFall and his final word of advice (56:35)  Notable Quotes: “When you say something enough, you begin to hear yourself say it, other people hear you say it, and they can support you. And it helps to reaffirm that you're on the course to go where you want to go.” – Billy (9:26) “The real root of conscious capitalism is that it's an inclusive environment where you don't make tradeoffs between these different components and that you make decisions that everyone benefits from.” – Mike (20:29)  “Your self awareness is the most critical component to the success of your business.” – Mike (30:31)  “In the end it's not about revenue. What it's about is it's about improving, and it's an obsession with improvement. And when we obsess with improvement… the revenue generation, the growth, is a subset of the obsession with improvement.” – Mike (42:34) “Leadership is about setting the example and then living within that constantly.” – Mike (47:16) “In the end, people just want to be around other people who they relate to and they feel a connection to as another human being.” (59:19) Resources & Links: Mike McFall  LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/mike-biggby  Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/mikejmcfall Biggby Coffee: https://www.biggby.com/  Billy Samoa Saleebey  LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/billysamoa  Email: billy@podify.com and saleebey@gmail.com  Insight Out  Website: https://insightoutshow.com/ This is an encore episode and was originally published on December 30, 2022 Learn more about your ad choices. How Good It Is

The Association was a band that just kind of floundered for awhile. First in was in their early years when they were known as simply The Men, then, in 1966 after their first album did well, the second one did...not so much. Bones Howe Part of the problem, it seemed, is that the band members playing their own instruments was mostly not a good idea. So for their third album, Warner Brothers (which had purchased The Association's label and therefore their contract) brought in a new producer. That producer, Bones Howe, in turn brought in a bunch of session musicians who later became known as The Wrecking Crew. The Insight Out front sleeve. The members themselves also made some changes with regard to their overall sound and the materials that they recorded, and they managed to break away from their Sunshine Pop sound and into a more eclectic feel. Some tracks were psychedelic, some were Baroque, some were folky, and there was even a touch of the Garage Band sound. That third album, titled Insight Out, performed about as well as the first one did and yielded two of their biggest hits.  And in this episode we learn a little about one of those songs. Change is one of the few constants in life, and yet we often fear and resist it. As humans, our brains are hardwired for what we're used to, and when something unexpected pops up, our brains are triggered to protect us from potential harm. Change is inevitable, however, and it can be overwhelming for both businesses and individuals. Are you ready to become an active participant in change? Join me on the latest episode of Insight Out where I sit down with Marché Pleshette. Marché is here to help equip us with the tools to turn uncertainty into opportunity through change and will share her vast knowledge in the world of leadership and communication. We will explore Marché's insights on how to embrace change and use it to our advantage. We'll discuss the three zones of change: status quo, disruption, and adoption. We'll also look at historical examples of how change has been used to innovate and level up.  Meet Marché Pleshette, Marché is a keynote speaker, facilitator, and leadership coach who has been at Franklin Covey as a consultant since 2008. She has taught many people how to infuse the philosophy of the Seven Habits of Highly Effective People into their life and business. She focuses on effective communication, leadership, professional change and transitions, employee engagement, and retention. She is the co-author of Franklin Covey's newest book, Change: How to Turn Uncertainty into Opportunity. Marché Pleshette was inspired to learn the competency of embracing change in order to innovate. She discovered that change is a process that requires support, understanding, and the ability to look around and see what is possible. She found that by understanding how to navigate change, leaders can help their team members to not be overwhelmed by it, but to use it as a tool to level up and become even more successful. With the right attitude, Marché realized that change can be embraced, rather than feared. Now, let's dive into the nitty gritty of change and how to use it to our advantage. In this episode we cover:  How Judy Hendrix Influenced Marché to be a better facilitator, be a better presenter (00: 03:30) Why do we fear change and how can we learn to embrace change?
