In this episode of The Future of Teamwork, Dane Groeneveld interviews Sonam Ludhani, RevOps Leader at TONOMUS, for a thoughtful conversation about the intersection of growth mindset, leadership, and AI adoption. Sonam and Dane unpack how “no-blame” cultures and psychologically safe teams unlock innovation, and why true leaders act as coaches and enablers, not gatekeepers of knowledge. Sonam also explains why so many AI initiatives fail – and how teams can build credibility, reliability, and openness into their workflows with agentic AI. This episode is a great reminder that AI is a partner, not a replacement, and that the teams who thrive will be those who use it to elevate human potential.

Join us for a deep dive with visionary engineer and activist Sonam Wangchuk, whose groundbreaking ideas on education, sustainability, and social justice have inspired millions worldwide. In this extended conversation, you'll learn:• What education is truly for: Why we must shift from conquering nature to nurturing it, and how unschooling and mother-tongue instruction empower real learning.• Climate wisdom from Ladakh: Stories of Wangchuk's mother predicting the farming crisis and how indigenous knowledge drives his fight against glacial melt.• The “I Live Simply” movement: How a pledge-based platform can mobilise global behavioral change—planting trees, reducing meat consumption, choosing trains over flights—without spending a rupee.• Revolutionary activism: Lessons on nonviolent resistance, the power of failure, and Gandhi's timeless call to “live simply so others simply live.”As Wangchuk awaits a Supreme Court hearing on October 6th, challenging his detention, his words resonate with urgent clarity: personal change sparks collective revolution. Perfect for climate activists, education reformers, social entrepreneurs, and anyone seeking practical, scalable solutions to today's most pressing challenges.About I Live Simply movement:A unique crowd-funding campaign where the contribution made is not monetarily, rather by pledging a greener and simpler lifestyle changes. As leaders of tomorrow, students' participation in this movement can have a huge impact on fighting global warming. Some of the pledges today's youth can make could be: Making your college campus plastic-free, planting more trees in your campus and around, adopting bike-pooling or using more of public transport, reducing unnecessary water consumption, less data consumption which meant lesser online streaming, taking initiatives to partner with waste management organisations for proper recycling of e-waste, TetraPaks, plastics etc.PS: To measure the impact of this episode, I urge you to use #ilivesimply #TheGalataPodcast Link: https://www.ilivesimply.org/ About Sonam Wangchuk,A mechanical engineer by education, Sonam has worked in the field of education reform for 27+ years. The man who inspired the popular “Phunsukh Wangdu” character in the Bollywood hit Three Idiots, Sonam has been instrumental in changing the face of education in the mountains. His sessions throw a whole new perspective on innovation and entrepreneurship that embraces social change. In 1988, he founded SECMOL (Students' Educational and Cultural Movement of Ladakh) that aims to reform the government school system in Ladakh. In 1994 he was instrumental in the launch of Operation New Hope, a triangular collaboration of the government, village communities and the civil society, whose work has been instrumental in improving the pass percentage of 10th graders in the region from a dismal 5% to 75%.For students who still failed in their state exams, he founded the SECMOL Alternative School Campus near Leh, a special school where the admission criterion is a failure in exams and not grades. As an engineer, Sonam Wangchuk has been teaching innovation at the SECMOL Alternative School, where together with the students, he designed and built solar heated buildings that are low cost, made of earth/mud but maintain +15 C even when the outside temperature is –15 C in Ladakhi winters. His “Ice Stupa” artificial glacier has claimed fame for helping solve the water crisis in the region due to climate change and fast melting glaciers. The Ice Stupas store water in the winter in the form of giant ice cones or stupas, which melt over summer and provide water to the lands, just in time for irrigation.Sonam is the recipient of several awards, The Rolex Award for Enterprise 2016 in Hollywood USA, The Terra Award 2016 for World's Best Earth Buildings in Lyon France, The UNESCO Chair for Earth Architecture for India in 2014, ‘Real Heroes' Award by CNN IBN Channel in 2008, ‘Green Teacher' Award by Sanctuary Asia Magazine in 2005, Ashoka Fellowship by Ashoka: Innovators for the Public in 2002, ‘Man of the Year' by The Week magazine in India in 2001 and the Governors Medal by the J&K State Government in 1996.Introduction Credits: Outstanding Speakers Bureau.Links to reach Sonam:Twitter: https://twitter.com/Wangchuk66Website: https://secmol.org

Modi's Big Actions and Crackdown | Sonam Wangchuk in Jail | Amit Shah | Pakistan | Trump|Aadi Achint
Fringed by China and Pakistan, Ladakh is India's high-altitude borderland. For years now, locals led peaceful protests demanding statehood and constitutional protections for land, jobs, and identity. But last week, that peace broke. Violence erupted in Leh city in the Union Territory of Ladakh on Wednesday (September 24, 2025), several protesters were killed as security forces launched a heavy crackdown. At the centre of it all is Sonam Wangchuk — an engineer, climate activist, and one of Ladakh's most respected voices. He was arrested under the National Security Act, a law that allows detention without trial for up to 12 months. What triggered this escalation? Why did peaceful protests turn deadly? And what does Wangchuk's detention mean for the future of Ladakh's struggle? Venerable Lama Konchok Sonam is the Spiritual Director of the Drikung Meditation Center. Born in Lhasa, Tibet, Lama Sonam began his Buddhist training when young within the Drikung Kagyu lineage of Tibetan Buddhism. At the age of 18, Lama Sonam took full ordination and became a monk (Gelong). Lama Sonam then went on to complete a retreat on Ngondro (Common and Extraordinary Preliminaries) and the Five-Fold Path of Mahamudra under H.H. Drikung Kyabgon Chetsang Rinpoche and Gelong Yeshe. Lama Sonam received teachings and blessings from more than twenty-five great masters, including Nyedak Rinpoche, his beloved main teacher, and the Most Venerable Pachung Rinpoche, the renown scholar and retreat master at Drikung Thil monastery. Lama Sonam served as disciplinarian at Jang Chub Ling monastery, in Dehra Dun, India. This difficult position required an extremely vast knowledge of the Dharma, and inspirational deep inner qualities. Lama Sonam has also served as the personal attendant to H.H. Chungtsang Rinpoche, H.E. Drubwang Rinpoche, Tongkar Tulku, and H.E. Thritsab Rinpoche, and tutored American tulku Thadag Rinpoche (Jack Churchward). On June 9, 2003, Lama Sonam arrived in Boston to be the Resident Lama at the Drikung Meditation Center. Lama Sonam has shown himself to be expert in both the theoretical and practical aspects of training the mind through meditation and Vajrayana methods for awakening our Buddha Nature. In the fall of 2005, Lama Sonam started the Jowo Rinpoche Statue Project to benefit the Boston area, the United States, and the world. Lama Sonam began to realize his vision of bringing the blessings of Buddhism, from Buddha Shakyamuni and countless other enlightened masters from the East- India, Nepal, and Tibet, to the United States by creating a pilgrimage site. Arriving in May of 2008, the centerpiece of the pilgrimage site is an eight foot tall gilded, jewel-encrusted bronze, the U.S. Jowo Rinpoche Statue. The magnificent U.S. Jowo Rinpoche statue is a replica and spiritual emanation of the most revered Jowo Rinpoche statue that was made at the time of the historical Buddha and brought to Lhasa, Tibet in 641 AD.

Welcome to Khandaan: A Bollywood Podcast and the next movie in our 80s Dhamaka series is TRIDEV (1989). Directed and cowritten by Rajiv Rai, TRIDEV was a ginormous hit when it came out - enough for the Rais to repurpose it with Vishwatma a couple of years later. Starring Sunny Deol, Madhuri Dixit, Jackie Shroff, Sangeeta Bijlani, Naseeruddin Shah, Sonam, Amrish Puri and Anupam Kher among others, Tridev is still famous for its songs, composed by Kalyanji-Anandji although a case could be made that this was just an early Viju Shah soundtrack. This movie embodies the 80s vibe in a way that few others can pull off. The fashion, the songs, the villains, the homoerotic tension, there's a lot to get through this week. A big Shoutout to our friend Dj Shai Guy for the 80's Dhamaka Theme song. You can check out more of Shai's work here

Our guest this week shares from his personal experience with and research about the Indian church specifically, as well as the global Church as a whole. To learn more about the International Day for the Unreached, listen to Episode 109: The Alliance for the Unreached. “The Church is influenced by society [...] and yet, we are also different because of the human-Divine meeting in the church. It is not just another human plane of belonging, but there is this coming together with the Divine in the church, which gives us another dimension of being.” “Ultimately, we are united through one Lord Jesus Christ [...] but we are also enlivened by the Holy Spirit, who is present everywhere, and He speaks to us all in our languages in our own spaces, and we are all adopted as sons and daughters of one Father.” “There is no other way for the Church to be but connected in the local and the global; if it's not connected, then it's not the Church because then there's no one Jesus Christ, there's no one Father, there's no one Holy Spirit. And yet, we are also diverse and different also because of where we are.” “An ideal vision is that all would be equal - all would have equal opportunities, equal passports - but that is not the reality that we experience.” “If we are one Church, one people, one body of Christ, [we are called] to share and participate deeply in the needs, the pain, the joy of the other also.” “How does the Church reach out in mission? To be very simplistic, by being Church.” “If I were to point out one thing [that the global church could learn from the Indian church], it's maybe the capacity to be okay with the knowledge that you will be persecuted. [...] Being okay with that does not mean that I am saying there is no pain, there is no suffering.” “Life has been difficult from a human perspective, but in the midst of all of this, I have experienced God in a new way.” What's changing our lives: Keane: A network of children's museums Heather: Hard-boiled eggs Sonam: Watching his son grow and learning to be more flexible Weekly Spotlight: TeachBeyond Opportunity Board We'd love to hear from you! podcast@teachbeyond.org Podcast Website: https://teachbeyond.org/podcast Learn about TeachBeyond: https://teachbeyond.org/

Amza. Say it. Now say it slowly with your eyes closed. It hums, it's peaceful and rhythmic, isn't it? It's a beautiful word. It also is a region in Tibet and the birthplace of The Dalai Lama. And fittingly it is the name of Amza Superfoods a company founded by Jolma who is from Amza. Born and raised in Rebbong (རེབ་གོང་།), Amdo region of Tibet and growing up in Rebgong, Jolma was exposed to a vibrant cultural hub known for Tibetan arts (literature, painting & food). Jolma learned cooking at a young age from her beloved late grandmother, Sonam, who also raised her. Sonam was born a nomad and was illiterate her entire life. Still, she understood the value of education and told Jolma, "To discover the world, one must move beyond her own kitchen." Sonam's determination inspired Jolma to become the 1st girl from her village to earn a college degree and was the impetus for Jolma's journey from Asia to Europe and eventually to America. She learned English from the ABCs at age 30 and that drive to succeed continued as Joma sought to honor her grandmother and other disadvantaged Tibetan women like her by drafting a memoir cookbook, Beyond Her Kitchen, chronicling Tibet's healthy eating traditions and the stories behind each bite. It was more than a cookbook and more than a tribute, it was the book that her grandmother COULD NOT write because of her illiteracy. Jolma penned the book while working as a product user experience designer to support her son while he was going to a University. After he was done, Jolma then decided to go from cookbook to business. This seed from the cookbook bloomed into a meaningful food business, Amza Superfoods, from her Portland, Oregon kitchen. Amza Superfoods offers a family of nutrition-dense, tasty, sustainable nourishment that celebrates Tibetan culture. Amza prioritizes sustainability, social impact, and local sourcing of 100% natural, heirloom whole grains, delivered in eco-friendly packaging. They also empower underprivileged women and girls in Tibet through education. The hearty Tsamba snacks, barley breakfast mixes, and flaxseed spreads are handcrafted in small batches with Oregon bounty. They provide a convenient way to get high fiber, protein, and omega-3 fatty acids. There is a broad product line of bagged snacks and jars of flaxseed spread. Joma has added some warm spice to some of the spreads and the flavor warms the tongue without being too hot. And check out the health benefits of flaxseed when you have time. Jolma has been selling well at local farmers markets, but anyone can buy online at the website: AmzaSuperfoods.com. We are excited to kick off 2023 covering the Red Panda and the people out there fighting to save them. Sonam Lama is an absolute conservation hero! He is a recent Whitley Award Winner in 2022 in recognition for his hard work in conserving the Red Panda. The Whitley Fund for Nature is one of the world's leading organizations in helping and recognizing those out in the field doing the hard work to save some of our most endangered animals. Sonam is no exception! He was with the Red Panda Network from its inception. While he lives in Nepal, he has traveled the world to study and help these animals. An incredible interview to kick off the year! We are releasing Red Pandas again to highlight just how endangered these animals are. We also have an incredible interview to follow this with Sonam Lama, who is a true conservation hero out there fighting to save these charismatic animals. Sadly, Red Panda poaching only increased during the Covid-19 pandemic. Thus, we want to remind everyone of the Red Panda's plight, but also as important, is that there are many out there like Sonam who are fighting to protect these animals! Another thank you to all our Patreon supporters. We now are hosting monthly Zoom meetings with them, answering questions and getting ideas on which species they want covered. You too can join for one cup of "good" coffee a month. With your pledge you can support your favorite podcast on Patreon and give back to conservation. With the funds we receive each month, we are have been sending money to conservation organizations monthly. We now send a check to every organization we cover, as we feel they all are deserving of our support. Thank you so much for your support and for supporting animal conservation. Please considering supporting us at Patreon HERE. We also want to thank you to all our listeners. We are giving back to every conservation organization we cover and you make that possible. We are committed to donating large portions of our revenue (at minimum 25%) to every organization we cover each week. Thank you for helping us to grow, and for helping to conserve our wildlife.
