And I found the book of the genealogy of those who came up at the first, and I found written in it: 6 These were the people of the province who came up out of the captivity of those exiles whom Nebuchadnezzar the king of Babylon had carried into exile. They returned to Jerusalem and Judah, each to his town. 7 They came with Zerubbabel, Jeshua, Nehemiah, Azariah, Raamiah, Nahamani, Mordecai, Bilshan, Mispereth, Bigvai, Nehum, Baanah. And they had 245 singers, male and female. 68 Their horses were 736, their mules 245, 69 their camels 435, and their donkeys 6,720. 70 Now some of the heads of fathers' houses gave to the work. The governor gave to the treasury 1,000 darics of gold, 50 basins, 30 priests' garments and 500 minas of silver. 71 And some of the heads of fathers' houses gave into the treasury of the work 20,000 darics of gold and 2,200 minas of silver. 72 And what the rest of the people gave was 20,000 darics of gold, 2,000 minas of silver, and 67 priests' garments. 73 So the priests, the Levites, the gatekeepers, the singers, some of the people, the temple servants, and all Israel, lived in their towns. And when the seventh month had come, the people of Israel were in their towns.

In the journey to improving our health, diet and exercise are considered the paramount activities that lead to transformation. While focusing on those two areas is important, we also need to prioritize spiritual growth.  In order to experience physical transformation, we have to transform spiritually and mentally first. That's why I developed a program with 6 pillars, and took a more holistic approach that tends to your entire being. Everyone wants to be healthier, but implementing lasting change is easier said than done.  When we bring God into the process, and stop striving in our own power, it gets easier. God is able to give us strength when it gets hard, and that spiritual aspect actually cascades into all the other aspects of improving ourselves.  How do you set yourself up for lasting success when it comes to health? How do you build solid habits that can withstand disruptions in your routine?  In this episode, I'm joined by one of my clients, Harsha Jayatunge. He shares his experience in the TLC 6 Pillar program, lessons he learned and what he's done to implement long term change and transformation.  Things You'll Learn In This Episode  -The piece that ties it all together  Committing to lifestyle changes can be challenging if we don't bring God into the process. We can't do it on our own strength. How does the spiritual aspect of the 6 pillars make it easier for us to achieve our health goals? -How to make good habits stick How do we bake our habits in so that when our lives or routines are disrupted, it's easier to get back on the wagon?  -Setting yourself up for lasting success Attaining better health isn't just about taking the right medications and eating the right types/amounts of food. Why does mindset play such a huge role in the process? Guest Bio Harsha Jayatunge is the Executive Head of Financial Markets Solutions, Corporate & Investment Banking Group, Treasury Sales at Abu Dhabi Commercial Bank. He has 25 years Financial Markets and Global Markets experience in the Middle East and North Africa both in Corporate and Financial Institution segments. "I do believe that literature is a very important source of knowledge complementary to history, epigraphy and archaeology. It is not easy to read drama at the best of times. It is even more difficult to read Sanskrit drama because it is quite out of the ordinary! But there is a lot of timelessness in these plays, however strange they may seem with their tigers, elephants and tantriks! The human elements are the ones we still completely recognize - love, jealousy and ambition. We haven't changed; we are laughing at the same things that people 2000 years ago were laughing at! One of the criteria for choosing the plays was that all the great playwrights had to be represented. And I didn't want to use plays based on the Ramayana and the Mahabharata because we already know those stories. This is a book about introducing different narratives to a lay public. Also, I wanted people to be aware that the millennium of classical Sanskrit drama does not come out of a Hindu universe alone. It comes out of a universe of political diversity, cultural diversity, religious diversity. But it's true that it is also a common universe however much people might have different ideologies and different religions; there are social mores that hold them all together" - Arshia Sattar, author, Vasanta; Stories from Sanskrit Plays talks to Manjula Narayan on the Books & Authors podcast about ancient plays like Shudraka's Mricchakatika ( The Little Clay Cart), Mahendravarman's The Holy Man and the Courtesan, and Harsha's Nagananda, among others, that continue to appeal to us

If you are a Hoka fan in Tennessee, there is a good chance that you have met this episode's guest, Melanie Harsha. Melanie is the Hoka Field Representative for the state of Tennessee (and Mississippi and a smidge of Virginia!) which means there is a good chance that you have met her at a Hoka demo run, a Hoka-sponsored race, or just out and about at general running events. What you might not know about Melanie is that, besides being a runner, she is an incredibly accomplished hiker, having completed the "Triple Crown of Hiking," that is thru-hiking the Appalachian Trail, the Pacific Crest Trail, and the Continental Divide Trail. Listen to this episode to learn more about Melanie's experiences on the trail, her job with Hoka, and what it is like to leave your life for a season to accomplish your dreams.

Wildlife encounters, such as bears and snakes, are common on these trails. Gear choices evolve over time, with many hikers opting for lighter options. Strength training and stretching are important for success in thru-hiking. Trail names can have personal significance and be a connection to family. Transitioning from academia to thru-hiking can provide a much-needed break and clarity. Working at a local outfitter can lead to opportunities in the outdoor industry. Trying different shoe brands can help find the right fit and performance. Thru-hiking and ultra running require mental resilience and the ability to work through challenges. Supporting runners at aid stations can make a significant impact on their race experience. Thru-hiking can teach the lesson that hard things can be overcome. Researching and preparing in a way that suits individual preferences is key to success in thru-hiking. Listening to podcasts, reading books, or watching videos can provide valuable information for aspiring thru-hikers. Carrying items that provide comfort and peace of mind is important for a successful thru-hike. Thru-hiking and ultra running can provide a sense of home and appreciation for nature. The journey of thru-hiking is unique to each individual, and anyone can accomplish it with determination and preparation. --- Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/thetrailtrashcast/support
