Join Rev. Emily E. Ewing (they) and Rev. Kay Rohloff (she) and special guest Jessica Davis (they/she) to explore new and nerdy connections to the scripture for Epiphany, which falls on January 6th this and every year (though it may be celebrated on a nearby Sunday), including our deep dive into the season of Epiphany! The scripture we refer to for this episode can be found here. We talked about the Vanta Black controversy, mentioned first in our Transfiguration episode and also in our Reign of Christ episode both last season. Both Jessica and Emily had great things to say about the book Sulwe by Lupita Nyong'o. For more diverse images of Jesus, check out this Facebook post. If you're looking for creative resources for exploring Bible stories, Jessica endorsed Illustrated Ministry. Sparkhouse also always uses characters who are shades of Black or brown. If you are still looking for some ways to engage with Epiphany, make sure you check out the Families Celebrate Cards from Sparkhouse, which Jessica and Bishop Anne Edison-Albright collaborated on. As we talked about, definitely check out the Harvard Implicit Association Test; it's great to check in on regularly so you can see how you are progressing in addressing your implicit bias. CN: we talk about racism/violent threats in deep dive Check us out on Facebook & Twitter at @NerdsAtChurch to connect! --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/nerdsatchurch/message
