In our episode today, we talk about her origin story, triggers and tantrums, holding space and safe space, sharing our voice and feelings, honesty in showing up as our adult selves with compassion and awareness, her involvement in producing and holding space at the Spirit Weavers Gathering, coming out of the spiritual “broom closet”, the classes that she teaches in and out of Spirit Weavers, feeling a charge or trigger within us and Non-Violent Communication, the Dark Feminine and sacred rage, myth and Goddesses, Tarot, and ritual. We also talk about PLAY and FUN and DECADENCE and reality TV, and end our conversation about Autumnal and Samhain rituals. Thank you, Staci and enjoy the juiciness! Song: (O Spirit) Guide Me to Those I Need Music by: Aimée Ringle Notes: If you've run across Aimée Ringle's work, you know her wicked musical skills, her exuberant, high-energy presence, her huge heart and desire to be of service... and you may not yet know how she grew into her voice, the questions she asks herself around how best to contribute to songcircles, her deep desire for village community, and questions about how to make that real in the here and now. We dig a little into one of the hard conversations in songcircles or any group situation where people bring varying skill levels -- how can people of varying skill levels feel welcome and find space and satisfaction as they are? We talk about what Aimée finds she needs to be able to let songs come through and more! Aimée shares the story of how O Spirit came through and we sing it both with guitar and in an up-close and personal way. It's a big episode because we let our conversation spread out, enjoying the end of summer and a sense of expansiveness. I hope you, too, find that pleasure of connection when you join us. Songwriter Info: Aimée Ringle is a singer, multi-instrumentalist, songwriter, song-leader, and storyteller. She has an invigorating teaching style that is enriched by her capable percussion and guitar skills. Aimée's work as a song-leader and storyteller have woven her into an ever widening community of cultural shifters around the country in the realms of sustainable agriculture, alternative education, community living, healing, creativity, and spiritual exploration ~ all of which are reflected in the songs she carries. As a song-leader, Aimée's work and example have become a valued part of several Ancestral skills gatherings including Winter Count, Spirit Weavers and Sharpening Stone. Sharing Info: The song is free to share in oral tradition groups, but please contact Aimée for recording and/or performing permission. She says: "For now, the song is just the chorus, but I am paying attention to its evolution and leaving space for the possibility of verses, etc. But this will not be a group process and I'm not inviting unsolicited creative ideas in this process." Song: The Ambulance Song Music by: Aimée Ringle "Ooo Love" part by: Laurence Cole Notes: We live on a busy road, not far from a fire station -- an ambulance is not an unusual sight -- and thanks to Aimée Ringle, I have the perfect song to wish the people involved well... and now you do, too! Next week, Aimée and I talk about the tender place music is able to open up, how someone with considerable musical skills and experience finds how they, too, can be included in community singing... how we are what we repeatedly do, and what that means for Aimée. She is generous, vulnerable, clear-sighted, and willing to name her own challenges. I hope you can join us... but before that, please enjoy adding this song to your personal repertoire! Hi everyone, welcome back to the show. Today's episode is a season wrap-up and life update. It isn't something I had been expecting to share, but it's a profoundly significant update and season of life for me. My initial plans were to share a bit about my recent reiki training in Ojai, a bit about my trip to Spirit Weavers in June, and chat about some business items that have come up along with my Zen practice but life has a funny way of redirecting things. My mom was diagnosed with cancer and frankly, a lot has changed in the last two weeks. This experience has been painful and also in the strangest ways, openhearted and beautiful. I would never have wished for this experience, but I accept it and have found something to be grateful for throughout it. I deeply credit my Zen and mindfulness practice for this open-hearted perspective. Sending out love to those who need it - and thanking every one of you for tuning into this season of the other way. Join us in the fall for more conversations about paths less traveled, spirituality, wellness, women's health, and more. I took one of Morena Cardoso's Danza Medicina workshops for embodying the sacred feminine at Spirit Weavers a couple years ago and it was a profound experience in my relationship with my own body. Then, when I found myself circling with Morena for a Samhain gathering this year, I had to pull her aside to interview her for the Belonging podcast. This conversation goes deep. We talk about her embodiment work with Danza Medicina, working with the feminized experience while breaking down the oppressive nature of gender and the binary, Morena's perspective on what's going on in Brazil and her work in building relationships in reciprocity with some of the indigenous peoples of Brazil, and committing to our own growth and process — especially as people who hold space for other folx in this work. How often have you created a whole conversation in your mind ~ a conversation that hasn’t even happened? In this episode, Baelyn and I talk about the craziness of the mind. In particular, the fear, the illusions and projections we create that so often lead to separation. To move from a thought to an action, the nature of the mind can create such a drain of our energy. That’s why Baelyn begins every morning with meditation and tea ceremony. In this week’s episode we talk about Cha Dao, or The Way of Tea, a way of being ~ slowing down, finding clarity and intention while living with devotion, discipline and focus. We discuss what it takes to cut through the chatter of the mind and remember true stillness. Baelyn also shares how she navigates work relationships, sisterhood and vulnerability. This conversation is truly full of so many gems… we hope you enjoy tuning in! “Tea is a plant teacher, a spirit of Nature, manifested through this Leaf and awakened by hot water. Used in ceremony, it is a dance between the elements, a sensory exploration of presence, where everything is connected by space.” ~ Baelyn In this episode we discussed: Why Baelyn chooses to create offerings in collaboration How Baelyn came to be on a spiritual path How tea found her (and not the other way around) Her greatest insights and lessons from tea + silent meditation Baelyn’s morning practice How Baelyn navigates the “stories” we create about other women (and how to handle jealousy and comparison in sisterhood) How to create a space of healing and intimacy when you’re triggered The truth about fear and how to navigate it Baelyn’s upcoming Warrior Priestess training Stay in Touch with Baelyn Website Instagram Baelyn Elspeth grew up in Los Angeles studying dance from the time she was 4. This affinity with movement provided a doorway into her relationship with spirit, health and the body. She has since journeyed into deeper connections with Self through studying Yoga, Tea and Meditation. She is under the lineage and instruction of the Tea Sage Hut Center in Taiwan and works with Tea as a daily practice to cultivate stillness and presence. Over the years, her path has evolved toward deepening her relationship to Mother Earth and the Sacred Feminine. Holding space with song and rhythm have also become key elements in her offerings. Whether serving traditional Tea Ceremonies, or holding ritual space through sound and drum, for her, all these paths are ways of being a vessel for spirit and consciousness. Currently Baelyn travels and devotes her time to sharing and facilitating sacred spaces for communities all around the world, bringing the medicine of Tea and Ceremony wherever she goes. She primarily focuses on collaborative efforts and so along side the offerings of other practitioners, she holds retreats, workshops, and is a council member of the annual women’s gathering Spirit Weavers. She also curates and nurtures a permanent home for Tea, Ceremony, and the Sacred Arts at AY^AM in Playa Del Rey, CA and Santa Fe, NM.

My Soul Crush on episode 4 is a gathering called Spirit Weavers. I'll explore what it means to me to walk the path of the feminine, Kundalini Shakti, the father wound, addiction, death and the beauty and power of women coming together to create, command, heal and awaken to our innate gifts and ways of serving this world in reverence to the Earth we walk upon. Spirit Weavers Gathering is a five day celebration of cultures past and present, a remembering and practicing of basic human skills to ensure the survival of the body and the soul. Farming practices, working with fibers, weaving, creating ceremony, sharing meals at night and dreams in the morning, the making of plant medicines- singing songs, together as a community- these were the common knowledge ways and part of the simple pleasures of a life lived in balance and harmony with nature. Let us gather together as Women and share our skills in remembrance of the beauty path and an honoring of our Ancestors. Please find us on iTunes and subscribe and give us a rating. When she was 7 months pregnant, Amy Mea Woodruff's best friend was murdered by a stranger in her home. Experiences from her past that had grounded Amy deeply into herself were an anchor throughout this process, including the conscious use of psychedelics and a longstanding practice of learning about and connecting with her ancestors.
