They explore how lifestyle factors such as diet, exercise, and stress significantly impact hormonal balance. Summary In this conversation, Ali Damron and Elizabeth Katzman delve into the complexities of hormonal health, particularly focusing on the effects of birth control and the concept of the 'pill hangover.' They discuss the symptoms women experience after discontinuing birth control, the impact of hormonal contraceptives on overall health, and the importance of understanding the long-term effects of these medications. Katzman emphasizes the need for informed consent and the significance of addressing nutrient depletion and nervous system health in women transitioning off hormonal birth control. The discussion also covers alternative contraceptive options and the importance of education in empowering women to make informed choices about their health. Takeaways The term 'pill hangover' describes lingering symptoms after stopping birth control. Many women experience symptoms like anxiety, fatigue, and hormonal chaos post-pill. Birth control can suppress ovulation and disrupt hormonal balance. Understanding the difference between progestins and bioidentical progesterone is crucial. Nutrient depletion from birth control can lead to various health issues. The nervous system's health is impacted by hormonal changes and nutrient deficiencies. Women should be educated about their menstrual cycles and hormonal health. Informed consent is essential when considering hormonal treatments. Alternative contraceptive methods exist that do not disrupt natural hormone production. Long-term health considerations should guide contraceptive choices. TRT has gone from an obscure therapy to a social media buzzword — but with mainstream attention comes misinformation, especially about younger men. In this solo episode, Dave Lee breaks down the growing pushback against men under 30 on testosterone replacement therapy, why blanket “you don't need it” statements are wrong, and the real factors driving a hormonal health crisis in younger generations. He covers when TRT is truly necessary, why optimizing natural production should always come first, and how environmental, lifestyle, and developmental factors are changing the hormonal landscape. Whether you're 18 or 80, this is an unfiltered look at the truth behind the noise.

Summary In this episode, Ali Damron discusses the interplay between stress, hormonal fluctuations, and emotional symptoms experienced during the menstrual cycle. She emphasizes that many women face challenges related to PMS, PMDD, and other mood disorders, particularly in their 30s and 40s. Ali explores how stress and the nervous system can amplify these symptoms, and she provides insights into hormonal changes throughout the menstrual cycle. The conversation highlights the importance of understanding both hormonal and psychological factors in managing menstrual health and offers practical solutions for women seeking to improve their well-being. Takeaways Stress in the nervous system amplifies emotional symptoms during the menstrual cycle. Many women experience heightened emotional volatility and anxiety related to their cycle. Hormonal fluctuations are a natural part of the menstrual cycle, but not all women experience the same symptoms. Stress hormones can exacerbate mood symptoms, particularly during the luteal phase. Understanding the interplay between hormones and the nervous system is crucial for managing symptoms. Support for progesterone can help alleviate mood symptoms in women. Gut health and detoxification play a significant role in hormonal balance. Monitoring symptoms too closely can increase anxiety and hypervigilance. A holistic approach to hormonal health includes nutrition, sleep, and stress management. Women are not alone in their struggles with menstrual health; these issues are common and manageable. Chemicals in water, food, and receipts are messing with our hormones. Nick Pell helps us understand and reduce the risks on Skeptical Sunday!Welcome to Skeptical Sunday, a special edition of The Jordan Harbinger Show where Jordan and a guest break down a topic that you may have never thought about, open things up, and debunk common misconceptions. This time around, we're joined by writer and researcher Nick Pell!Full show notes and resources can be found here: jordanharbinger.com/1194On This Week's Skeptical Sunday:Endocrine disruptors are chemicals that interfere with your body's hormone signals by either blocking them or mimicking them, potentially affecting testosterone, estrogen, and other crucial hormones that regulate mood, growth, and reproduction. These chemicals are virtually everywhere — in drinking water, plastic bottles, receipts, shampoos, soaps, food packaging, and even birth control runoff in groundwater. Complete avoidance is impossible in modern life.Evidence suggests EDCs may contribute to declining testosterone in men, early puberty in girls, and male fertility issues. Frog feminization studies show real hormonal effects in wildlife and Alex Jones.Unlike typical toxins, endocrine disruptors follow a "non-monotonic dose response" — meaning lower doses might actually be more harmful than higher doses, making it impossible to determine a "safe" exposure level. You can reduce exposure by filtering water, avoiding receipt handling, using glass/metal containers instead of plastic, choosing bar soap over liquid, and not microwaving food in plastic wrap — small changes that add up.Connect with Jordan on Twitter, Instagram, and YouTube. In this season 2 opening episode of The Trip Lab, I return from maternity leave with a deeply personal exploration of how psychedelic experiences mirror one of the most profound transitions in a woman's life: motherhood. From the sudden crash of postpartum hormones to the full dissolution of identity and the slow reconstruction of self, I reflect on how becoming a mother felt strikingly similar to a psychedelic journey — raw, disorienting, expansive, and sacred. We dive into the neuroscience of hormonal transitions, ego death, and neuroplasticity — exploring how estrogen, the Default Mode Network, and maternal brain remodeling all connect to the psychedelic experience. We also examine the often-overlooked wisdom of the menstrual cycle, the energetic sensitivity of pregnancy, and why the womb may be one of the most powerful maps for understanding transformation and healing. This episode is for anyone curious about the intersection of psychedelics and the feminine — whether you've given birth, are hoping to one day, or simply want to understand how cycles, hormones, and identity shifts can open portals into deeper layers of self.Topics include:Postpartum as ego death and rebirthEstrogen, neuroplasticity, and the psychedelic brainPsychedelics and the Default Mode Network in womenHormonal cycles and their influence on medicine journeysAncestral wisdom, womb intelligence, and the sacred feminine

I was recently asked the question “Should I refeed once a week if I'm in a calorie deficit?”I love this question (I always love when you send me your questions btw!), but honestly…it depends.Like most things in the health and fitness world, there's no “one-size-fits-all” answer. Before you start talking about refeed days, carb cycling, or any other advanced strategies, you've got to ask yourself an important question: “Am I even in a consistent deficit to begin with?”The reality is, most people aren't. Even if you're “eating clean,” hitting your macros Monday through Friday, but you're winging it on the weekends, you're not *truly* in a calorie deficit! If you're not tracking your intake honestly AND consistently, your coach (whether that's me or someone else) can't help you. In this eye-opening episode of The Health Fix Podcast, Dr. Jannine Krause sits down with trauma therapist Paula Rastrick to unpack the complexities of hormonal health for women. They explore why hormone therapy isn't always the silver bullet it's marketed to be — and how trauma, nervous system dysregulation, and the HPA axis all play a major role in hormonal imbalance. Paula shares her deeply personal journey through hormonal struggles and burnout, and how she came to understand the nervous system as the foundation of hormone healing. Together, they challenge common myths and shed light on why so many women feel gaslighted by traditional medical approaches. If you've ever felt dismissed, confused, or overwhelmed when it comes to your hormones — this conversation is your permission slip to dig deeper and advocate for a more holistic approach to healing. What You'll Learn In This Episode: Hormone therapy is often oversimplified and overprescribed. Medical gaslighting is common when hormonal protocols don't work. The nervous system is a key (and often missing) piece in hormone treatment. Trauma can rewire the HPA axis, disrupting hormonal balance. ADHD and hormone sensitivity are deeply connected. Every woman's hormonal story is unique — individualized care is essential. Heart rate variability (HRV) training can support nervous system resilience. Empowerment through education helps women take control of their health. We need a more integrated, trauma-aware approach to women's healthcare.

THE BETTER BELLY PODCAST - Gut Health Transformation Strategies for a Better Belly, Brain, and Body
When I first got sick in 2015 and started the long journey of trying to heal myself, I was REALLY pre-occupied with the concept of leaky gut. I remember Googling questions like:Is leaky gut real?Did I have it?Was it causing my problems? What supplements, diets, or probiotics could I take to heal my leaky gut naturally? And I can remember wondering, for years, "Can anyone test me for this? Would anyone believe me if I told them I had leaky gut?" It took me almost 5 years to FULLY understand why asking the question "do I have leaky gut" is entirely the wrong question to be asking, and learning what question I SHOULD be asking instead to heal both myself and my clients. That's why, on today's episode, I'm breaking down all things leaky gut, including topics like:Is leaky gut real?Leaky gut symptomsMost common leaky gut tests (and if you they're worth your money) My 3 second leaky gut self-testWhy you should STOP testing for leaky gut - now! What you should be focusing on instead (the real causes of leaky gut)My personal, best leaky gut treatmentWhy leaky gut probiotics, a leaky gut diet, or leaky gut supplements can't heal your leaky gutRealistic timelines to heal leaky gut (why you can't heal leaky gut in 2 weeks) If you've found yourself in a leaky gut loophole on the internet and you want real leaky gut remedies, then this episode is for you. Summary In this episode, Ali Damron discusses the complexities of Hormone Replacement Therapy (HRT), addressing common misconceptions and emphasizing the importance of a holistic approach to women's health. She explores the benefits and risks of HRT, the necessity of proper dosage and safety measures, and the role of the nervous system in managing hormonal health. Ali advocates for integrating lifestyle changes with HRT to achieve optimal health outcomes for women navigating menopause and perimenopause. Takeaways HRT can be beneficial for many women, but it's not the only solution. Understanding the risks and benefits of HRT is crucial. Holistic health practices should accompany HRT for best results. Proper dosage and safety measures are essential when using HRT. The nervous system's state can significantly impact hormonal health. Women should not rush into estrogen therapy without proper evaluation. It's important to have a knowledgeable practitioner when considering HRT. Lifestyle changes can enhance the effectiveness of HRT. Women experiencing perimenopause should focus on supporting progesterone levels. HRT should be personalized based on individual health needs and conditions.
