This episode of Speaking Out of Place is being recorded on May 15, 2025, the 77th anniversary of the 1948 Nakba, which began the ongoing ethnic cleansing of Palestinians from their land. We talk with Lara Elborno, Richard Falk, and Penny Green, three members of the Gaza Tribunal, which is set to convene in Saravejo in a few days. Ana Trujillo became known as the 'Stiletto Shoe Killer' after brutally attacking her on-again, off-again, boyfriend, Stefan Andersson, in 2013. Ana would claim that she was only defending herself against a rage-filled, jealous partner when she murdered Stefan with the heel of her 5.5 inch blue suede stiletto shoe. However, as investigators dug a little deeper, they realized that the evidence began to speak for itself and told a very different story. Let us know if you think Ana was a victim or a full-blown dirtbag?! Charged by the United Nations General Assembly to ascertain the legality of the continued presence of Israel, as an occupying Power, in the Occupied Palestinian Territory, on July 19th, 2024, the International Court of the Justice, the highest court in the world on matters of international law, determined that “The Israeli settlements in the West Bank and East Jerusalem and the regime associated with them have been established and are being maintained in violation of international law.” It called for the end of the Occupation, the dismantling of the apartheid structure that supports and maintains it, and the removal of Israeli settlers and settlements. All member states of the United Nations are obligated to support each of these actions. Israel's response to this comprehensive and devastating report has been to dismiss it and hold itself above international law. In so doing it has sealed its reputation as a pariah state in the global community of nations. In today's special episode of Speaking Out of Place, we are honored to have eminent legal scholars Diana Buttu and Richard Falk join us to explain the significance of this historic document.Diana Buttu Haifa-based analyst, former legal advisor to Palestine Liberation Organization and Palestinian negotiators, and Policy Advisor to Al-Shabaka: The Palestinian Policy Network. She was also recently a fellow at the Belfer Center for Science and International Affairs at Harvard's Kennedy School of Government. After earning a law degree from Queen's University in Canada and a Masters of Law from Stanford University, Buttu moved to Palestine in 2000. Shortly after her arrival, the second Intifada began and she took a position with the Negotiations Support Unit of the PLO.Richard Falk is Albert G. 9 czerwca 2013 roku o 3:41 w nocy, dyspozytor numeru alarmowego w mieście Houston, w Stanach Zjednoczonych, odebrał telefon od spanikowanej kobiety.
The volatile situation in Gaza has been grossly distorted in the mainstream western press. By omission, selective editorializing, and misstatement of so-called “facts,” a particular caricature has emerged that has invisibilized the Palestinian people, the history and the nature of the Occupation, and the actual conditions of life in what many have called the world's largest open air prison. To get a better sense of all of these, we speak with two seasoned experts on Palestine. After our conversation with Diana Buttu and Richard Falk, we conclude this episode with statements of solidarity with the Palestinian people from activists, scholars, and cultural workers from around the world: the Birzeit University Union of Professors and Employees Occupied Palestine; activist and scholar Cynthia Franklin, a long-time champion for Palestinian and other Indigenous peoples' rights; renown Michi Saagiig Nishnaabeg scholar, writer, and artist Leanne Betasamosake Simpson, who has been widely recognized as one of the most compelling Indigenous voices of her generation; celebrated feminist scholar, philosopher, and public intellectual Sara Ahmed; Michael Hardt, eminent political philosopher and writer; award-winning poet, scholar and long-time civil rights and anti-Zionist Hilton Obenzinger; legendary abolitionist feminist activist, writer, and scholar Angela Y. Davis. Following Angela Davis we have a statement from the Raha Iranian Feminist Collective read by scholar Manijeh Moradian, and then a statement from the Palestine Writes Literary Festival, read by executive director and celebrated novelist, Susan Albuhawa. We then solicited statements from others, and received several immediately, with more coming in daily. We will update this podcast and add contributions as they arrive and as we can process them. We invite you to listen to them as you can, and to join in our commitment to Palestinian life, freedom, and land.Diana Buttu is a Haifa-based analyst, former legal advisor to Palestine Liberation Organization and Palestinian negotiators, and Policy Advisor to Al-Shabaka: The Palestinian Policy Network. In the middle of 2019, I got an Irish neighbor who didn't speak a single word of German and asked me for assistance all the time. Luckily, I came across the right online English teacher on Instagram who brought me out of my shell... I soon realized that I love the English from the south of Ireland the most. It was only a matter of time that I also got in touch with Irish culture and tradition (including the language and music). I even started learning Irish and playing the bodhrán. I'm still a beginner in both (maybe my Irish is already a little better than the drumming, but I only started in November). And since I wanted to find music other than my teacher's to play along with, I googled around. And that's how I stumbled across your podcast. Long story short, I've been fascinated by Celtic music, but even more so since I started learning Irish. I wish one day I could sing some traditional songs in Irish. The Sean Nós singing is so beautiful, too. Wish you a wonderful Christmas wherever you are and keep on making music and all the stuff around it. Nollaig Shona agus slán go fóill!”

This week the fabulous ladies of Ivy League Murders joined me on the mic to discuss the case of Ana Trujillo, better known as The Stiletto Murderer. Ana took the life of her on-again, off-again boyfriend, Stefan Andersson. The case made national headlines within days because of the fact Ana was a woman, and murdered a man, and the weapon was a 5.5 inch stiletto heel. The wine for this week comes from our friends at Valley Mills Vineyards. Valley Mills is a new one for us. Today I am sipping on a Cinsaut Rose. This dry, crisp rose shows notes of fresh melon and grapefruit. For our organization choice this week, we are highlighting a podcast. The podcast is called “Autism Rocks and Rolls Podcast” The tag line is “Changing the world one episode at a time”The podcaster's name is Sam Mitchell. I veckans kråkvinkel hyllar Maria Westerberg gräsen.

When we think of murder we often assume the weapon used was one of three traditional ones: gun, knife, or hands, but people can use any object to commit the ultimate crime. This week Josh and Sherrie discuss two cases where unusual weapons were used to take someones life, Stefan Andersson and Ramon Novarro. Support the show (https://www.patreon.com/user?u=25398556)

Just nu flyger riktigt stora, feta humlor i luften lite varstans.

Ana Trujillo, an ex Coca Cola exec was dubbed the “Stiletto Killer” after she brutally killed her boyfriend Stefan Andersson by stabbing him 25 times with her blue high heel shoe. In this episode, we talk about Ana's upbringing, a very dubious 20/ 20 episode and make a stack of (surprisingly delicious) Coca Cola Chicken wings. UPDATE FYI there is a bug in this podcast where there's a minute silence at around 32 mins in. No idea why, but sorry about that.

The officer responding to a 911 call at one of Houston’s hippest high-rises expected the worst. After all, domestic violence situations can be unpredictable. But nothing could’ve prepared him for what he found: a beautiful woman drenched in blood . . . an older man lying dead on the floor . . . and a cobalt blue suede stiletto with tufts of white hair stuck to its five-and-a-half-inch heel. With her stunning looks, magnetic personality, and erratic behavior, Ana Trujillo had a notorious reputation on the downtown Houston scene. She spoke often of occult powers, though few knew how deeply she believed such boasts. Stefan Andersson was a gentle soul, a Swedish transplant with a good career and trusted friends, who was desperate to find someone special. Theirs is a story of obsession, madness, and tragedy. Because once Stefan fell head over heels for Ana, he was under her control—and he didn’t have a chance in hell. POSSESSED: The Infamous Texas Stilletto Murder-Kathryn Casey

Daniela Marquardt träffade styrelseordförande Clive Sinclair-Poulton under hans snabbvisit i Jokkmokk. Producent: Kajsa Boglind Programledare: Daniela Marquardt
