Meet Arvid Lindblad, the Red Bull Junior who’s been unstoppable over summer in New Zealand, ahead of his first F2 race at the Australian Grand Prix in Melbourne next month. The calculated decision to come down under to compete to ensure he has enough points for a Super Licence for F1. Could we see him drive in practice sessions this year maybe even a Grand Prix? What a call from Helmut Marko is like, the time he told Lando Norris he would see him on the grid in years to come, and racing against Supercars stars Will Brown and Broc Feeney. Oh and hanging out with David Coulthard to drive some cool older gen F1 machines. Thanks to the Next Gen NZ Championship organisers and the M2 Competition team for their help in making this one happen.

Episode Notes Airbnb is on the cusp of an artificial intelligence-driven revolution, with the technology poised to radically transform the company's operations, it says. So what might change at the short-term rental giant by next year? CEO Brian Chesky explains Airbnb's plans in an interview with Skift founder and CEO Rafat Ali. Despite recently unveiling a series of launches yesterday at its annual May product update event, Ali writes Airbnb hasn't yet announced exactly how it plans to use AI. But Chesky said the technology will be the driving force behind a totally new Airbnb, adding the company would use AI to rebuild its app. Chesky also said that Airbnb would eventually have more AI-augmented customer service.   Next, cruise line Lindblad Expeditions saw its occupancy rate soar in the first quarter — in large part due to its savvy marketing strategy, writes Global Tourism Reporter Dawit Habtemariam.  Lindblad's occupancy rate hit 81 percent during the quarter, a 15-percentage point jump from a year ago. Company executives expect the figure to continue its rise this year but not fully recover to pre-Covid levels in 2023. Habtemariam cites Lindblad's substantial investment in digital marketing as a factor in the company attracting more first-time guests. Lindblad's marketing in the past primarily included brochures and direct mail to prospective guests.  Lindblad generated roughly $143 million in revenue in the first quarter, a significant year-over-year jump. The company did record a net loss of about $400,000 during the period.  Finally, the Lufthansa Group, Europe's largest network carrier, is optimistic about a banner 2023. The company expects to achieve record summer revenue this year, reports Edward Russell, editor of Airline Weekly, a Skift publication.  Russell writes travel demand remains robust, Lufthansa expects to get a boost from the rise in premium leisure travel. Although the airline posted a more than $500 million net loss during the first quarter, CEO Carsten Spohr said it's on the verge of its strongest summer in terms of passenger revenue. Russell writes Lufthansa's bumper summer forecast isn't solely the result of torrid demand. Decreased aircraft availability will result in carriers flying less, helping increase airfares.

Kathleen from Plenty of Sunshine Travel met with Lesa from Lindblad Expeditions for this week's cruise chat. . Lesa did an excellent brand overview and discussed the advantages of cruising with Lindblad. I love how they were the first expedition cruise line to sail in the world. They were the first in Antarctica in 1966 & the first in the Galapagos in 1967! Lindblad has partnered with National Geographic to explore our world's oceans. Their ships are designed as meeting spaces, so when you return in the evening, you can sit around a fire and discuss the day's adventure! . One of the great things about their ships is that you are travelling with a National Geographic photographer, so they can not only give you pointers on how to take the perfect picture, they will share their pictures with you. . Lindblad has many solo staterooms, which is fabulous! You don't need to worry about a large single supplement with them! From single staterooms to family programs to activities for a multi-generational cruise. There is 100% something for everyone! . The ship's hull is designed to cut through the waves. This allows a much smoother cruise for us! . The largest ship that Lindblad has is 148 guests. Perfect for exploration, this way, you will always have access to a guide. . There is a whole world under the water, and I am very excited that Lindblad highlights this world for us to explore. . Lindblad has expeditions in so many fantastic destinations. There is something for everyone. Including Africa, Alaska, Amazon, Antarctica, Arctic, Atlantic Isles, Australia and New Zealand, Bahamas, Baja California, Belize & Guatemala, California Coast, Canada, Caribbean aboard Sea Cloud, Costa Rica, Panama & Colombia, Egypt aboard Oberoi Philae, Europe & British Isles, French Polynesia & Pacific Islands, Galápagos, Greenland, Iceland, Indonesia & Papua New Guinea, Italy and Croatia aboard Sea Cloud II, Japan, Mediterranean aboard Sea Cloud, Pacific Northwest, Patagonia, Peru, Scotland aboard Lord of the Glens, South American East Coast, Vietnam & Cambodia aboard The Jahan. In a lucky turn of events, I was contracted by National Geographic and Lindblad as a cultural specialist for Colombia on their recent expeditions from Cartagena to Panama and back. Hugging the Caribbean coastline, our journey departed from Cartagena before taking in Santa Cruz del Islote, Isla Tintipan, Tuchin, the Bahia de Cispata, Santa Cruz de Lorica before finishing the Colombian leg with a visit to Capurgana and Sapzurro. In Panama, we stopped by the Kuna Yala islands, Portobelo, the final resting place of Sir Francis Drake before heading up to the Panama Canal to cross from the Caribbean to the Pacific and managed to squeeze in some birdwatching in Gatun Lake. So, on this show, I share live recordings that I took on-site in various locations along the route. I think you'll enjoy it. The Colombia News Brief is brought to you by journalist Emily Hart.

The line held an international design competition through Talent House to create a unique artwork for the ship's hull, inspired by the sea and its important marine ecosystem. The design will be featured permanently on the ship's hull, highlighting the steps that the Company is taking towards a greener future.Designs from 59 countries worldwide were submitted and the winner, German artist Alex Flaemig has been revealed. Flaemig will have the honour of his artwork gracing the ship's exterior, shining a light on the Company's ongoing commitment to the environment and the pledge to achieve net zero greenhouse gas emissions (GHG) by 2050.Flaemig, a native of Dresden, Germany was inspired by the opportunity to transform the hull of MSC Euribia into a giant, floating canvas to highlight the importance of respect for the environment. His design #SaveTheSea, the design features the unique underwater world with its precious life and weaves together the colours of the MSC Cruises and MSC Foundation logos, creating a gradient effect that paints sea fauna and flora across the hull.Carnival continues the celebrations… this time… the busiest week of sales ever! Exactly 20 years ago – on 5 April 2002 – the first two ships in the fleet were christened A-ROSA BELLA and A-ROSA DONNA in Rostock. A-ROSA celebrates the anniversary on board its ships with an A-ROSA United Event, where guests celebrate together with the crew until late at night. With the introduction of the A-ROSA brand, river cruises were offered for the first time to a younger clientele – detached from conventions, casual, active and full of highlights on board and ashore. The company has always remained true to this concept.Review of the christening of A-ROSA BELLA and A-ROSA DONNAAfter a construction period of only twelve months in the Neptun Yard Rostock, the two innovative river ships A-ROSA BELLA and A-ROSA DONNA received their official names during a double christening ceremony on 5th April 2002 in Rostock's city harbour.Godmother of A-ROSA BELLA was the 18-year-old The Honourable Anna Sterling, daughter of Lord Sterling of Plaistow, Chairman of P&O Princess Cruises. A-ROSA DONNA was christened by Anja Mager, 19 years old and an office management trainee with Seetours in Rostock. After an experience ship tour and reception in the coffee house on board, the guests were invited to the dinner “La BELLA DONNA” with live entertainment in the Nikolaikirche Rostock.Immediately after the christening, the two 860-ton ships left the Rostock overseas port expertly packed and secured on a barge for the Danube delta.History of A-ROSAThe A-ROSA brand was founded in 2000 by Seetours, the German offshoot of P&O Princess Cruises. Shortly after the deployment of the first two Danube ships, the company was taken over by Deutsche Seereederei in 2003 and the Danube fleet was expanded by two more ships. The Rhône was introduced as a new trade lane in 2005, on which A-ROSA STELLA and LUNA have been cruising ever since. In 2009, the first cruises on the Rhine started and the financial investor Waterland bought A-ROSA. After three classic Rhine ships, two Rhine-Main-Danube ships were put into service in 2012 and 2014 with the A-ROSA SILVA and FLORA. In 2013, Jörg Eichler came on board as managing director and introduced the premium all-inclusive fare and family cruises with Kids Club from 2014.With the Seine, the second French cruising area was added to the portfolio in 2017. After the takeover by the British financial investor Duke Street in 2018, the A-ROSA ALVA set sail on Portugal's Douro. In the 20th anniversary year of 2022, a total of twelve A-ROSA ships will be sailing in five European destinations. In May 2022, the A-ROSA SENA, the most innovative ship in the fleet, will join them, offering more space for the A-ROSA concept – spacious balcony cabins, a dedicated Family Area with Kids Club, several restaurants and bars as well as a particularly large wellness and fitness area. Thanks to a hybrid drive system with battery storage, it is the most climate-friendly cruise ship on Europe's rivers. A-ROSA also presented its new orientation from 2023, where even more quality and individuality will be offered with a PremiumPLUS range. And more... Welcome to A Remarkable Thought: A short story podcast to engage your mind and lift your spirit—a production of changeyourmindchangeeverything.org. In a world that runs on 5G, caffeine, obligations, shoulds, shouldn'ts, woulds, and wouldn'ts we've created a space where you can relax, laugh and think for yourself.  Each week we will bring you a refreshing escape where your mind can wander in a thoughtful story as you visit wonders yet to be considered. At the end of every show, we will leave you with a quality question to ponder. This week's story is an original story by Living Life as Gracie by Jen Lindblad, read by Katie M. Reid Take a beat, take a breath, and listen in!  Hi. My name is Gracie. Well, that's my new name since he came and saved me from that awful place where they were killing me every day. I'm sure I would have died there if he had not come. Who is he? His name is Michael. He is my angel. I'm an English Bulldog and this is my story.  For eighteen months I had the same life every day. I woke up and went out a little door to some rocky ground where I would “do my business” as Michael calls it, and then wait for someone to bring me some food. I would only see them pass by as they dropped off my portion in my dish. I don't know their name because they didn't talk to me. It was usually a man in a yellow coat... A couple of times he took me out of my home into a dark building where he would tie me up and another dog would come in with me. I didn't like that at all. I was so scared! When the man in the yellow coat was done with me, he would put me back in my home and then come check me every week. Emily Newton is a marine biologist who grew up spending most of her time on a horse in the mountains of central Oregon. She discovered the fusion of scuba and science while pursuing her undergraduate degree and has parlayed this fusion into research and her work as an undersea specialist with Lindblad Expeditions. Today, Emily joins me to talk about what has led her to where she is today. She shares her experience as a rodeo queen and how she pivoted from horse-related activities to marine science. She discusses how she overcame a bad scuba diving experience and stresses the importance of determination. She talks about how she got her job at Lindblad and explains why it's okay not to know everything. She talks about Antarctica and shares some of her plans for the future. “People are just curious, just like me, and they just want to know what you know.” - Emily Newton “Nature is so powerful in how it affects each of us, I think, and all you need is the opportunity to feel that and to experience that.” - Emily Newton   This week on Kathy Sullivan Explores: Being a rodeo queen The roots of Emily's interest in marine science Emily's experience scuba diving The importance of letting people know without shame when you don't know the answer to a question Emily's plans for the future   Spaceship Not Required  I'm Kathy Sullivan, the only person to have walked in space and gone to the deepest point in the ocean. Today's episode is all about something that so many of us have sorely missed this year: travel. With a vaccine finally being rolled out, it seems our days in quarantine are numbered. With better days on the horizon, now is a great time to start planning for our next travel season. We address: Why it pays to hire a travel expert A forecast of the hospitality industry in 2021 Countries open to travel for U.S. citizens right now Top places to visit in the U.S. Mimi's favorite safari destination The best castles in the British Isles to spend the night in Local and international romantic getaways Finding the right travel advisor for you Sourcing vacation rentals Karen Morales welcomes Mimi Lichtenstein, owner and Custom Travel Advisor at Truvay Travel Design. She helps professionals, lawyers, entrepreneurs and hardworking parents “plan immersive vacations and one-month family sabbaticals that refresh their personal and professional lives.” In today's episode, Mimi discusses how she came to start her own travel company, things to keep in mind when planning a trip in 2021, her favorite destinations locally and abroad, and how to look for a travel advisor that can help you create the trip of your dreams. 3 MAJOR POINTS DISCUSSED With travel being more in vogue today than ever before, it's beyond worth it to work with an expert when putting together your trip instead of you trying to solve for all the variables involved in it all by yourself. Someone with on-the-ground, cutting edge knowledge of the industry is a huge weight off your shoulders because they free you from all the complexities of planning the itinerary, booking transportation and accommodation, and sorting out potential hiccups such as delayed flights. Places that thrive on tourism have obviously been hit particularly hard in 2020. Don't expect firesales galore as the world slowly opens up again, because many of those people whose livelihoods depend on tourism are likely extremely eager to recoup their losses come 2021. When you do get the opportunity to travel to these places, consider being extra generous and let your money contribute to revitalizing the economy. Finding the right travel advisor for you depends entirely on the experience that you're looking for. Different individuals and agencies cater to different budgets and preferences. Is money no object? Are you going for something itinerary-dependent and planned down to the hour, or something more spontaneous? Once you have your ideal trip in mind, find an advisor that fits those wants and needs.
