"Toys in the Attic", do Aerosmith, completa 50 anos em 2025. See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
It's possible that Aerosmith is the greatest American rock band of all time. And in our opinion, their best album was 1975's Toys In The Attic which is still their biggest selling original record with over 9 million sold in the US. As it turns 50 we decided to dive deep into what makes this album so great and why it endures to this day as a hard rock classic. Yes, it has singles that were popular in their day and are still staples on classic rock radio in Sweet Emotion and Walk This Way. But the title track is a killer way to start a rockin album and is an Aerosmith signature. You See Me Cryin' allows the Bad Boys from Boston to show their tender side (and incorporate strings), Round And Round shows a harder Aerosmith, and Big Ten Inch Record shows off the tongue-in-cheek lyrics that have made the band famous (though that one is a cover, it's classic Steven Tyler). The boys had been touring hard and were really firing on all cylinders. The previous year's Get Your Wings had been well received and had a killer cover of Train Kept A Rollin which was one of their live staples. But what made this album different from the previous two is that when they went to the Record Plant in New York City to record Toys, they didn't have any songs ready. They'd honed the songs from the previous albums live before heading into record them but this time they started from scratch with a few ideas they'd been noodling on. Joe Perry came up with the riff to Walk This Way on stage in Hawaii. Tom Hamilton had the Sweet Emotion bits for years before he worked with Steven Tyler to mold them into an all time classic. Brad Whitford got a co-write on Round And Round and Joe Perry really established himself as one of the killer guitar slingers of his generation. An ideal pop song that was far enough ahead of its time it got to come around again for a second try, and a cover with all the right bits and pieces. There She Goes, originally by The La's, covered by The Wombats. Outro music is Sweet Emotion, by Aerosmith. And we promise that makes sense.
Rockshow episode 207 AerosmithAerosmith is an iconic American rock band formed in Boston, Massachusetts, in 1970. Known as “The Bad Boys from Boston” and “America's Greatest Rock and Roll Band,” Aerosmith is celebrated for its energetic live performances, distinctive sound blending hard rock and blues, and decades-spanning influence on rock music.Band Members:Steven Tyler (vocals, keyboards, harmonica): The charismatic frontman, often referred to as the “Demon of Screamin',” known for his powerful voice and dynamic stage presence.Joe Perry (lead guitar, backing vocals): Tyler's long-time collaborator and a key figure in shaping the band's bluesy, riff-driven sound.Brad Whitford (rhythm guitar): Known for his technical skill and understated style, complementing Perry's leads.Tom Hamilton (bass): Co-writer of several hits, including “Sweet Emotion.”Joey Kramer (drums): His tight, groove-heavy drumming anchors the band's rhythm.Career Highlights:Breakthrough Albums: In the 1970s, albums like Toys in the Attic (1975) and Rocks (1976) established Aerosmith as major stars. Hits like “Dream On,” “Sweet Emotion,” and “Walk This Way” became rock anthems.1980s Resurgence: After struggles with drug addiction and internal conflicts, the band made a stunning comeback in the late 1980s with albums like Permanent Vacation (1987) and Pump (1989), featuring hits like “Dude (Looks Like a Lady)” and “Love in an Elevator.”1990s and Beyond: Aerosmith achieved new levels of mainstream success with Get a Grip (1993), spawning hits like “Cryin',” “Crazy,” and “Amazing.” Their 1998 single “I Don't Want to Miss a Thing” (from the Armageddon soundtrack) became a global smash.Legacy:Aerosmith is one of the best-selling music artists of all time, with over 150 million records sold worldwide. They were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2001. The band's influence extends to numerous rock, metal, and pop acts, and their collaboration with Run-D.M.C. on “Walk This Way” is often credited with bridging the gap between rock and hip-hop.The band has remained active into the 2020s, though members have faced health challenges. Aerosmith is celebrated for their resilience, adaptability, and enduring impact on music history.https://www.aerosmith.com/https://www.instagram.com/aerosmith?igsh=MTdyaWkwNzJrbG41MQ==https://www.facebook.com/share/19GTjFSkoy/?mibextid=wwXIfrhttps://youtube.com/@aerosmith?si=xRa6f61Wmmg_uYQYhttps://open.spotify.com/artist/7Ey4PD4MYsKc5I2dolUwbH?si=7wqbhS_GTp6ufk1HH2Q7Pwhttps://x.com/aerosmith?s=21&t=Mzw5de5zsR-SDDbhyzH0Lghttps://www.tiktok.com/@aerosmith#Aerosmith #StevenTyler #JoePerry#DreamOn #SweetEmotion#WalkThisWay #RockLegends#ClassicRock #ToysInTheAttic#GetAGrip #IWantToMissAThing#BadBoysFromBoston #rocknroll#MusicIcons #AerosmithForever

To say that there has been a “vibe shift” among Democrats is an understatement. Since taking Joe Biden's mantle as the presumptive Democratic nominee, Kamala Harris has ushered in an unmistakable wave of positivity within the party. The joy and optimism suffusing her campaign have thus proven powerful antidotes to the fear and anger being sold by Donald Trump. That is, according to MSNBC analyst Anand Giridharadas, who has been writing extensively about the political potency of emotions in his popular newsletter, The Ink. In the latest episode of the Inside the Hive, Giridharadas discusses why everyone is picking up such “good vibes” from Harris and running mate Tim Walz—and how the duo pulled Democrats out of their anti-Trump doom loop. “You have to compete with authoritarianism by doing some of the things it does: by commanding attention, by catering to feeling, by making people feel like they can see a future,” he says. “The Harris campaign has somehow tapped into that.”

Jonah wasn't pleased with God's plan, so he ran, and he ended up in the belly of a whale. Though his anger with God persisted, he finally went to God in prayer, expressed his displeasure, and learned a little bit about the heart of God in the process. Like Jonah, we often find ourselves feeling angry with God. We don't like His method or His plans. We think He's unfair. We ask Why? How long? Why ME? This episode, we discuss God's desire for us to reveal our true hearts to Him (spoiler: He already knows it anyway) and learn a little bit more about Him in the process. Dave Brisbin 6.26.22 If you're serious about following a spiritual path, you have two major roadblocks to overcome: your mind and your body. Your mind, storehouse for the dualism of your egoic consciousness, constantly talks to you—comparing, contrasting, judging. Your body, storehouse of your emotions, drives unconscious behavior patterns with childhood conditioning, memories, guilt, shame. Necessary for survival, but left unchecked, mind and body keep us in a narcissistic bubble, apart from others and the reality of the moment. Admittedly oversimplified, the West has been in love with the mind, rational thought, for the past three hundred years since the Enlightenment, but in in the last fifty or so, has fallen in love with the body, with emotion. Emotion has become the sign of being authentic and in touch, empathetic and compassionate. Arguments now appeal to emotion, drowning out rational thought with feelings. Society needs a balance, but ancient wisdom tradition knows that true spiritual formation means intentionally detaching from thought and emotion, finding a deeper self and wordless connection to ultimate presence. Emotions aren't bad; they must be deeply felt and used as windows to unconscious drives and fears that help guide us to growth. But if we identify with them, think they are “true,” we become lost, acting out emotional triggers, hurting people while feeling justified and virtuous the entire time. We literally don't know what we're doing. The goal of ancient Christians was to unidentify enough to become unoffendable to the threat of negative emotion and to graduate past the “consolations” of positive emotions into the “desolations” of a faith that needs no external support. In a society devolving into the chaos of pure emotion, that sees opponents not intellectually as misguided, but emotionally as evil, deserving disdain, hatred, and eventually violence, we start with what we can actually control—ourselves. To build awareness to the point we can see emotions for the tools to growth they are and choose what is loving regardless of what we feel.

They're not exactly as wholesome as apple pie, but they have been anointed “America's Greatest Rock Band” for good reason. Aerosmith have sold more hard rock albums than any other American band, and they went from being an opening act to stadium headliners with the release of their third album, Toys In The Attic, released in 1975. The lead single from that album, “Sweet Emotion” marked important firsts: it was their first song to hit the Top 40 chart, and it was the first co-write credit that bassist Tom Hamilton got on the scoreboard. Steven Tyler's lyrics are full of daggers aimed at Joe Perry's then-girlfriend, and there is even a hidden message buried in the song. Dig in to the history of this classic tune in the new episode of the Behind The Song podcast. Watch the video episode and subscribe to the Behind The Song Youtube channel: https://bit.ly/2DBF4wJ

Everybody Wants to Rule the World, but Baconsale just wants to determine the best song in the world. Therefore, we looked In Your Eyes and used your musical submissions to see which tunes you thought embody The Spirit of Radio. As Kent, Joel, and Zack make their way through this tournament, some of your picks will be given the Respect that they deserve, whereas others will be quickly given The Kill. Regardless, you're bound to feel some Sweet Emotion as we complete the first round of this epic Song of Songs bracket. Press play to hear us ruin our vocal cords with falsetto and then try to Shake It Off. Download and print off our official bracket at Baconsale.com.
