Do you feel like you are stuck in limbo?  That crazy spot where you can't move forward, but aren't ending things?  Is it a spouse who has you stuck there? Well, that was the situation for “J.”  He wrote me because his spouse could not decide on whether to stay or go, work on things or walk away. He told me he was stuck in Limbo, didn't know what to do, and didn't know how to get his spouse to work on the relationship. What should he do?? I respond to J's question in this episode of the Save The Marriage Podcast.  And it may just be where you find yourself, too.  Not able to move forward, but not ready to walk away. How do you deal with “Limbo”?  We discuss it.  Listen below. RELATED RESOURCES: 3 C's of Saving Your Marriage 3 A's in Your Control 3 Levels of Connection Save The Marriage System

Big Mistake #3 People Make

There are lots of mistakes people make in their efforts to save their marriage.   This particular mistake is what I consider to be the 3rd biggest.  I hear it in the questions people send me every single week. In fact, I hear this mistake probably 3 or more times each day.  And here is the sad thing:  the mistake is made with all the best of intentions. . . and all the worst of results. Like all mistakes, it is avoidable.  (If something is unavoidable, it can't be a mistake; a mistake always has an alternative that could avoid the mistake.) I am betting you have made this mistake.  (I have.)  My hope is that, once I point it out, it will be so obvious that you will not repeat it. Welcome to a new season of In the Word with Malcolm Webber! This year we're starting off with Malcolm's exposition of Paul's letter to the Colossians. In this letter, Paul highlights the divine Person and redemptive work of Christ, against the backdrop of a particular heresy that threatens the church at Colossae. The Colossian heresy blended Christianity together with Jewish legalism, Greek philosophic speculation, and Oriental mysticism. This joining of religions together in exotic hybrids is happening today in both Eastern and Western countries with the increasing “globalization” of religion. Paul's corrections are vitally pertinent to us today. In the Word with Malcolm Webber is a weekly podcast featuring selected teachings from Dr. Webber's over 40 years of ministry. Strategic Storytelling

Strategic Storytelling

Play Episode Listen Later Oct 24, 2024 10:38

What is the stage of your client's awareness? You may think it's not important—but a customer stage can be like a specific niche. You target that stage of awareness. If you target the wrong stage, you lose the customer…maybe forever.   For example, when I was looking for a software company, I narrowed down my search to three companies. I knew a lot about the functions of marketing. I knew why I needed software. I just wanted a test drive. I was not just solution aware: I was product aware.   To my astonishment, the company refused to give me a test drive! They wanted to talk to me on the phone. I didn't want to talk to anybody. I'd already got my questions answered. I just wanted to finalize my decision. That company lost me forever.    In this podcast, I illustrate with a detailed example of a resume service for career changers. When is the prospective client even aware she has a problem? When does she realize she's got a problem with her resume, not some other aspect of a job search?    When you listen to the prospective client's story, be sensitive to stages. Are you targeting clients who are aware they have a pain, but not aware that solutions are available? Are you targeting clients who have done all their research and are down to the wire?   That's what this podcast explains with the detailed examples. Once you understand your prospect's level of awareness, you can fine-tune your copy to meet the challenge.   RELATED RESOURCES:   FREE: What is your client's story? (There are a few technical glitches in here. I apologize in advance!) What wounds do you carry around with you? I have scars on my arm from a childhood disease, places where the skin is darker than the rest. For you, it might be a physical scar from an experience that left you scraped and bleeding.  Or it might be something deeper: a fear of close relationships, the ever-present sting of betrayal, the feeling like you don't belong. On today's episode I speak with Russell Joyce about how God can use these wounds in our lives to bring both freedom and healing. Russell is the national director of church planting for The Foursquare Church and senior pastor of Faith Center in Eugene, Oregon. He's also the co-host of the Same Jesus podcast. But today I chat with him as the author of his book, His Face Like Mine.  The foundational story of the book has to do with the fact that Russell was born with a rare craniofacial disorder where the left side of his face was not formed. And as he works through the scars from that—physical, emotional, and spiritual—he discovers how God meets us in our wounds and sets us free.  Russell and I talk about the gift of repentance, how journaling has played a role for him and how it can play a role in your own healing journey, and at the end, he shares some words to those who are walking alongside people who are healing. This is a sacred conversation, my friends. So settle in and ask God what He has to say to you through this episode today.  Kari   RELATED RESOURCES: ·       Russell's book, His Face Like Mine (Amazon affiliate link) ·       Russell's website (access his monthly meditation) ·       Russell's Instagram ______ >> Free Journaling Workshop: 3 ways to encounter God on the pages of your journal http://lovedoesthat.org/journalingworkshop >> Journal Gently: An 8-week program designed to help you process grief and trauma with God http://lovedoesthat.org/journalgently >> Grab your copy of my Courageous Care book http://lovedoesthat.org/care   Music by DappyTKeys

In this episode of Mutuality Matters, Christy Mesaros-Winckles traces women's ordination and leadership in the Free Methodist Church. Highlighting three women evangelists, and a key ally in their efforts to attain ordination, Mesaros-Winckles traces shift of the Free Methodist Church from very inclusive to exclusive. Mesaros-Winckles speaks to the power of the messages people absorbed as society shifted, specifically in the context of a strong anti-suffragist movement. These messages slowed the egalitarian movement, silencing women and ordination until 1974.       Bio   Dr. Christy Mesaros-Winckles is an associate professor in the Communication Arts & Sciences Department at Adrian College.
