I talk with the actor portraying Berry Gordy in this show about The Temptations coming next week to the Orpheum.
"This is the Lord's battle, and he willgive you to us!" 1Sa 17:47 NLTTo defeat giants like addiction, resentment, fear, lust, pride, envy, or anger, you mustunderstand these three Scriptures: (1) "Thetemptations in your life are no differentfrom what others experience" (1Co 10:13NLT). Goliath was born a baby, but he grewinto a giant. Our giants are often little sinswe overlooked and indulged until theyassumed a life of their own and came backto haunt us. So as you begin to say no tosmall impulses, you will gain the strength tosay it to bigger ones. (2) "As Goliath movedcloser to attack, David quickly ran..to meethim" (1Sa 17:48 NLT). David faced Goliathhead-on. You must force your giant out intothe light, and not let him back into your life.Establish boundaries! And if necessary, make yourself accountable to someonewho can strengthen and encourage you.Stay out of the wrong company. And aboveall, don't view God in the light of yourproblem, view your problem in the light ofGod. (3) "This is the Lord's battle, and hewill give you to us!" You're not in this fightalone. God wants to help you to overcomeold habits and establish new behaviors. Hiswill for you is "to live in a way that is worthyof the people God has chosen to be hisown" (Eph 4:1 CEV). When you repent, which means to do an about-face, turn, andresolve to walk with God, He will give youthe strength to conquer the giant you'refacing. God has never lost a battle yet, andwhen you invite Him to join you, you willwin. You must force your giant out into thelight, and not let him back into your life.Support the show

The power of the music is undeniable on its face but Fritz and Weezy also explore the roll this music has played in the Civil Rights Movement. Berry Gordy was the first black business owner to sell his product to a predominantly white audience. He was not only selling music. He was providing a shared experience which amplified our collective human bond. We explore the great Motown autobiographies, plus the docs, Standing In The Shadows of Motown and Hitsville: The Making Of Motown.
Second part of a show with the theme of movement., with stomping requests and a shaky DJ.

Mark and Brian have a "reviewsit" of Cool Runnings to kick off the upcoming Winter Olympics, while Rick tends to an ice-related injury of his own. The gents point out the surprisingly risqué references made throughout this Disney sports film, look up the names of relatives on Sanka Coffee's family tree and agree that Mark was probably the only 13-year-old that enjoyed Yul Brynner jokes. The lads also realize an eerie similarity between the last movies filmed by John Candy and Chris Farley, brainstorm events that could take place at a Spring or Fall Olympic games and come up with more sporting events that would be ironic for underdog countries to participate in. Feel the Rhythm, Feel the Rhyme, then join these "Loveable Lugers" because it's podcast time!
