Recording From '75 Found In Closet, Record Company Releases As A Single#newmusic #thelimits #boxtops #hermanshermits #ricklevy #flowerpower #60smusic #theletter #rachel #record #musician #guitarist Luxury Records (distributed by Cleopatra Records) is very pleased and proud to announce the release of perhaps the most special and significant song from THE LIMITS called “Rachel.” Perennial popmeisters, THE LIMITS have gained a worldwide cult following with their original songs filled with brilliant hooks, jangle guitars, and clean tight production.Written in 1975 by Limits leader RICK LEVY, “Rachel” is the true story of the loss of a baby girl at birth by Rick and his then wife. The song was long forgotten until Limits co-founder Rook Jones, found some demo singles, and sent them to Levy. After sending to Cleopatra Records (the Limits label), President Brian Perera immediately asked to release the song because of how hauntingly beautiful and powerful it is. Cleopatra will also feature Rachel on their Tracks of the Week promotions.RICK LEVY is currently manager, guitarist/vocalist with Memphis Music Hall of Fame artists THE BOX TOPS. He has also been bandleader/tour manager for Tommy Roe, Hermans Hermits starring Peter Noone, Jay & the Techniques and more. In 2018, Crossroad Press released Rick's memoir, “High in the Mid 60s.” It can be ordered from: Website: http://www.ricklevy.comTo purchase The Limits “Rachel” single: https://orcd.co/6avb8pkFacebook: https://www.facebook.com/rick.levy.75The Limits fanpage: http://www.facebook.com/groups/533610423393062https://www.facebook.com/groups/1493893264090763Thanks for tuning in, please be sure to click that subscribe button and give this a thumbs up!!Email: thevibesbroadcast@gmail.comInstagram: https://www.instagram.com/listen_to_the_vibes_/Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/thevibesbroadcastnetworkLinktree: https://linktr.ee/the_vibes_broadcastTikTok: https://vm.tiktok.com/ZMeuTVRv2/Twitter: https://twitter.com/TheVibesBrdcstTruth: https://truthsocial.com/@KoyoteFor all our social media and other links, go to: Linktree: https://linktr.ee/the_vibes_broadcastPlease subscribe, like, and share!

Andremo ad ascoltare: To croiras (Dalida), L'amour fera le reste (Dave), You don't have to say you love me (Dusty Springfield), Ask me (Elvis Presley), A man without love(Engelbert Hunperdinck), Je changerais d'avis (Francoise Hardy), I'll close the door behind me (Jerry Vale), This world we love (Debbie Dovale), Mira como me balanceo (Jimmy Santi), Something is happening (Hermans Hermits), Romantica(Ken Dodd), Wake me i'm dreaming(Love affair), The empty bed (Mick Ronson), In the chapel with you(Neil Sedaka).

"Ive sucked the milk out of a thousand cows, sjunger Bob Dylan i en av sina senare låtar, jag har sugit ut mjölken ur tusen kor. Konsumtionen minskar stadigt. "A bottle stands forlorn, a symbol of the dawn, heter andra versen i No Milk Today, låten från 1966, en flaska står ensam kvar, en symbol för gryningen.

In this episode of the Neutral Ground Podcast, I'm joined by quite the impressive guest: David Fishof. David has led multiple lives. He was a sports agent for the Super Bowl winning quarterback of the New York Giants, Phil Simms, and he negotiated against the Yankees legendary owner George Steinbrenner on behalf of his client Lou Pinella--there's quite a story about that in this interview. Additionally, he is a tremendously successful music producer, having worked with The Monkees, Ringo Starr of the Beatles, Hermans Hermits, and many more. Additionally, David created the now famous Rock fantasy camp, where regular people can rock with the likes of Roger Daltrey of the Who, Ringo Starr, Joe Walsh, Bill Wyman, Alice Cooper, Peter Frampton, Kiss, and a whole host of other rock legends. People who attend David's Rock Fantasy Camp often talk about how the experience is life-changing, which is why a move was made to document some of these journeys. Having had a private showing of the movie, I can tell you that Rock Camp is a really heartwarming film. You do not need to be a big rock fan to enjoy it; you just need to be someone who enjoys seeing the human spirit get uplifted. There's fun; there's some comedy; and there are a lot of moving scenes where we're reminded of just how much we can accomplish as a species when we work together. I highly recommend you take a look at the film. I'm truly excited to present this interview with David Fishof. Introducing Herman’s Hermits is the the debut album for the band Herman’s Hermits.  Front man Peter Noone was an actor on "Coronation Street," a British TV soap opera.  The resemblance between Noone and a character named Sherman (from the Rocky and Bullwinkle cartoon) was noted, and this name was shortened to "Herman."  The group would start using the name "Herman and His Hermits," and this was also shortened to "Herman's Hermits."Herman's Hermits were a part of the British Invasion of the early 60's, which included acts like the Dave Clark 5, The Merseybeats, and of course The Beatles.  In fact, the group was curated to appeal to American audiences, with a non-threatening clean cut image very different from that of other rock bands like the Rolling Stones and The Who.  In addition to their music, the band also appeared in several MGM-produced movies at the time, including the 1968 film, "Mrs. Brown You've Got a Lovely Daughter."  This was a very popular band in the early 60's, posting 12 top-10 songs by the middle of the decade.  By 1968, however, music tastes had changed, and Herman's Hermits lost popularity in the United States.  They did see a resurgence in the 80's, and toured in the oldies circuits at the time, though with a different lead singer since Peter Noone left the band in 1971.Peter Noone still tours today, and this would be a great act to catch when he comes to your town.  Mrs. Brown, You've Got A Lovely DaughterThe English accent is exaggerated in this song, a departure from the more common attempts to downplay accents.  "Make a bloke feel so proud!"  This was not intended to be a single, but it went to number 1 on the charts.  The Chipmunks covered this song in 1965 as well.Show Me GirlThis deeper cut was co-written by Carole King and went to number 19 in the UK.  "So if you really care and you're not just wasting my time, come on and show me girl."Henry the 8thAnother song that promotes the English accent, the name is pronounced, "En-e-ry" in the Cockney style.  It is a 1910 British music hall song, but in 1965 it became the fastest-selling song in history.  Herman's Hermit took it to number 1, beating out the Rolling Stones "Satisfaction."  Interestingly, this is not about Henry VIII, king of England, but about the 8th Henry to marry the widow next door.I'm Into Something GoodThis is another song penned by Gerry Goffin and Carole King, it is surprising that it only reached number 13 despite its enduring popularity.  King was inspired by the work of The Beach Boy's Brian Wilson when she wrote this song.  It tells of a new love. ENTERTAINMENT TRACK:Theme from the television series “Lost In Space”This science fiction series was playing at the time.  "Danger, Will Robinson!" STAFF PICKS:“The Boy from New York City” by The Ad LibsBruce brings us a doo-wop quintet from Bayonne, New Jersey.  Though they continued to record into the 80's, The Ad Libs would only post this hit at number 8 from February 1965.  The Manhattan Transfer took a cover version to number 7 in 1981.  And The Darts took it to number 2 in the UK in 1978.“You've Lost That Lovin' Feelin’” by The Righteous BrothersRob's pick also features a song well known from its cover version, this time from 1980 by Hall & Oates.  According to BMI the original and/or its cover versions was the most played song on American radio and TV for 22 years until 2019, when it was usurped by Sting's “Every Breath You Take.”“All Day and All of the Night” by The KinksBrian's staff pick was influenced by a previous Kink's song “You Really Got Me.”  In turn, it also heavily influenced The Doors “Hello, I Love You.”  A young session guitarist, Jimmy Page, is rumored to have played on it, though Davies denied it.“The Midnight Special” by Johnny RiversWayne also brings us a song better known by its cover, this time covered by Credence Clearwater Revival.  Johnny Rivers had this folk song in the top 20 in 1965, but the original was recorded in 1905.  It talks about the dreams of prisoners to be on the midnight train. COMEDY TRACK:“Jolly Green Giant” by The KingsmenThis comedic track is based on the Jolly Green Giant of green beans fame.

Not currently available for sale. Here's a beautiful copy of the group's first Top 10 U.S. hit, following their first chart single, "I'm Into Something Good." It comes in a nearly flawless copy of the cool picture sleeve. This terrific rocker floats to near the top of Hermits fans' lists of their favorite hits. Obviously, we like it, too, giving it our highest, 2-star recommendation. By the way, the writers of this great tune went on to pen several of the best 1960s Pop hits, including "A Little Bit Of Soul" by Music Explosion, "Let's Go To San Francisco" by the Flower Pots, "Tossing and Turning" by Ivy League, and "Funny How Love Can Be" by various, including First Class in the 1970s. Note: The 45 itself grades close to Mint across the board (Labels, Vinyl, Audio). The picture sleeve looks flawless at first but has one tiny flaw... a small tear in the middle of the back photo (hard to see).

In this week's episode, RBP's self-styled "power trio" pay tribute to the late Charlie Gillett, without whose seminal 1970 book The Sound Of The City Rock's Backpages probably wouldn't exist. It is a decade since we lost Charlie – one of the first RBP writers to come on board, back in 2000 – so we wanted to do justice to the enduring influence of The Sound, as well as to his wonderful "Honky Tonk" radio show, his Oval Records label and his passionate championing of African and other "world" music genres. Two clips from Bill Brewster's 1999 audio interview with Charlie prompt reflection and reminiscence from Mark & Barney, as does a Record Mirror piece in which Charlie describes the infamous 1970 press junket that took 134 UK rock journalists to New York to watch the little-known Brinsley Schwarz play Bill Graham's Fillmore East. From there, we segue neatly into a clip from Cliff White's 1978 audio interview with Cajun "swamp-pop" star Johnnie Allan, whose immortal 1971 cover of Chuck Berry's 'Promised Land' – featured on Charlie's 1974 compilation Another Saturday Night – made Oval Records beloved of a generation of rootsy UK pub rockers. Mark, Barney & Jasper wax lyrical about the wonders of 'Promised Land', and about Cajun music in general, before Mark guides through his weekly library highlights. Among the latter are pieces about "Peter No-One" of Herman's Hermits, tenor legend Stan Getz and 'Cuddly Toy' boy Roachford. John Fred and His Playboy Band [09:34] "Judy in Disguise (with Glasses)" Paula Records PAULA 282 1967 This funky number takes misinterpretted lyrics to its illogical conclusion. Cantelope eyes? Sure enough, it made it to Number 1 in the Fall of 1967. Herman's Hermits [13:35] "I'm into Something Good" MGM Records K13280 1964 This Brill Building homage to Brian Wilson took the Peter Noon and the boys to number 13 in 1964 George Riddle [16:07] "Set Up Another" Starday Records 755 1966 A nice honky-tonk ode from one of the Jones Boys. Diana Ross [18:57] "Last Time I Saw Him" Motown M 1278F 1973 This kitchen-sink production style number made it to number 14 in the winter of 1974 for Ms. Ross. Oddly it made it to number on on the Easy Listening chart. The Beatles [21:46] "I Feel Fine" Captiol Records 5327 1964 This latin outing for the Liverpool lads landed them in the number one spot for three weeks at the end of 1964 and beginning of 1965. The Singing Nun [25:15] "Dominique" Philips 44009 1963 All the way from Belgium to the number one spot on the Hot 100 in 1963, for Sœur Sourire. Jay Black and the Americans [28:11] "Tonight" United Artists Records UA-353 1961 A little something from West Side Story for Mr. Black and his Americans. Edison Lighthouse [30:43] "Love Grows (Where My Rosemary Grows)" Bell Records 858 1970 This London session musician affair climbed up to number 5 in March of 1970. Kenny Loggins and Jim Messina [33:38] "Your Mama Don't Dance" Columbia 4-45719 1972 My mama did dance, but my dad did not rock and roll. But he did dance too, so there. The bearded Loggins and clean-shaven Messina took this retro outing to number 4 on the Hot 100 in 1974. Bill Haley and his Comets [37:38] "(We're Gonna) Rock Around the Clock" MCA Records MCA-60025 1973 Originally released on Decca in 1954, this reissue returned to the charts in 1974, peaking out at number 39. The Partridge Family [39:48] "Doesn't Somebody Want to Be Wanted" Bell Records 963 1971 But not like David Cassidy, who hated this song, especially the spoken word break. Nevertheless this single reached number 6 on the Hot 100. George Jones and the Jones Boys [42:48] "Not What I Had in Mind" United Artists Records UA 528 1963 A little number penned by Cowboy Jack Clement which helped ol' George reach Number 7 on the country charts. Johnny Rivers [45:33] "Secret Agent Man" Imperial Records IM-6187 1966 The aforementioned Sloan and Barri composition for the UK series Danger Man which was rebranded Secret Agent Man on this side of the Atlantic. It was Ray Davies' highest charting composition in the US when Herman's Hermits recorded it but their version lacked the grit of The Kinks.

Herman's Hermits [00:30] "I Can Take or Leave Your Loving" MGM Records K 13885 Reached number 22 on the US charts. Bobby Darin [03:02] "Mack the Knife" ATCO Records 45-6147 1959 Bobby Darin's number one smash hit interpretation of the Berthold Brecht/Kurt Weill classic. The Fabulous Echoes [06:07] "Please Leave Her to Me" Liberty Records 55755 1964 Hong Kong garage rockers who would eventually become part of Don Ho's circle of musicians. Victor Lundberg [08:24] "Open Letter to My Teenage Son" Liberty Records 55996 1967 Phew... that may be the longest 4 minutes and 23 seconds of my life. Oh those rascally teenagers. This spent exactly 6 weeks on Billboard's Hot 100, peaking out at number 10. Vic Dana [14:05] "Lovey Kravezit" Dolton Records No. 317 1966 Definitely a new one by me. Evidently inspired by a character from the C-grade James Bond cash-in The Silencers featuring Dean Martin as Matt Helm. The character in question is portrayed by Beverly Adams, who also appeared in two other Matt Helm vehicles, as well as How to Stuff a Wild Bikini as the object of Eric Von Zipper's affections and the Bewitched episode "George the Warlock" as Dora "D. D." Danger O'Riley The Buckinghams [16:32] "Kind of a Drag" U.S.A. Records TM 1783 1966 A number one hit on the Hot 100 for this Chicago band. Wayne Fontana [18:37] "Pamela, Pamela" MGM Records K 13661 1966 So this is what Wayne gets up to without the Mindbenders. Who kissed whom in the woods? Dude, you're totally crossing pop culture references. Irma Thomas [20:48] "Some Things You Never Get Used To" Imperial Records 66095 1965 A mighty fine single from the Soul Queen of New Orleans. Somehow this Van McCoy single never gained any traction on the charts. However it did become a big hit on the Northern Soul scene. Ed Ames [25:01] "My Cup Runneth Over" RCA Victor 47-9002 1967 A number one hit on... the Adult Contemporary charts in 1967 from one of the Ames Brothers and frequent portrayer of Native Americans on television. Three Dog Night [27:45] "Joy to the World" Dunhill/ABC Records 45-4272 Three Dog Night bringin us their 1971 smash hit. Penned by Hoyt Axton, this easily made it to the number spot on the Hot 100. Jimmy Holiday [31:08] "Baby I Love You" Minit MIN 32002 1966 Some quality soul from who helped compose "Put a Little Love in Your Heart". This single reached number 98 on the Hot 100 and number 21 on the R&B charts. Brewer and Shipley [33:43] "One Toke Over the Line" Kama Sutra KA-516 1970 Yeah, somehow this one made it to number 10 on the Hot 100 despite Spiro Agnew's protestations. And produced by Occidental, California resident Nick Gravenites. The Osmonds [38:13] "One Bad Apple" MGM Records K 14193 1970 If this number one gold record sounds like The Jackson 5, well that's because it was written by papa George Jackson. Mitch Ryder and the Detroit Wheels [41:02] "Devil with a Blue Dress On/Good Golly Miss Molly" New Voice Records 817 1967 This uptempo version of Shorty Long's "Devil..." reached number 4 on the hot 100, the most successful outing. King Harvest [44:19] "Dancing in the Moonlight" Percecption Records P 515 1972 Zut alors, a little number from a Paris-based band King Harvest. This made it up to number 13 on the Hot 100. The 5th Dimension [47:18] "Save the Country" Bell Records B 895 1970 The most succesful recording of this Laura Nyro tune, reaching as far as number 27 on the Hot 100. Music behind the DJ: "Mack the Knife" by Dick Hyman

Rock Talk With Mitch Lafon presents revered British pop icon, Peter Noone (recorded at the end of 2019). Peter discusses his extensive yearly touring schedule, being a music enthusiast, the beginnings of Herman's Hermits, songwriting, The Beatles & more, finding their place in a crowded radio marketplace, lyrics then and now, personal choice, working on Broadway, The Tremblers, a Farewell tour, his love of music, Casablanca Records, Neil Bogart, Tom Petty, Jimmy Page & John Paul Jones playing on Herman's Hermit songs and much much more. On getting started in music: "I started off as an enthusiast of music. I bought records and went to see live music. I knew lots of people who were in groups that played in their sister's attic and the little local nightclubs. One day, I found myself in a band where I was not just and enthusiast, but a participant." On a possible Farewell Tour: "I'm more like Mick Jagger. Arrogantly believing that I can pull it off for at least another ten years... Music is my hobby. When I hang up the phone with you, I'm going to play some music. That's what I do. When I'm in my car driving to a gig, I listen to music. Some people listen to the world news. I don't. I listen to music. And enjoy it, and smile and sing along and dislike and love and all of those things. So, why would I want to stop doing that?"  On Neil Bogart: "I don't know how good he was at business, but he was a great character." On Coronation Street, he jokingly says, "I was in it in 1961 and it's still the number one show in England even without me in it."  Get your MITCH MERCH here: https://loudtrax.com/Mitch  Twitter: @mitchlafon Instagram: @mitch_lafon Subscribe to Rock Talk With Mitch Lafon for exclusive content and interviews. Bob Barry's Unearthed Interviews

I sat down in a Pfister hotel room with Peter Moone and Herman’s Hermits. Peter explained how they got their group name and surprised me with the name of his favorite recording artists. Lead guitarist Derek Leckenby shared his thoughts on some of their recordings. We’ll hear a couple of crazy voice tracks and some sound from their July 1965 concert at the Milwaukee auditorium.  The photo with Peter Noone was taken in his hotel room at the Pfister Hotel in Milwaukee. The group picture was taken backstage at the Milwaukee auditorium, July 24, 1965.
