In this week's episode we are going to cover the true story behind the Netflix movie Things Heard & Seen. The story used is of an ax murder that happened in Brighton, New York in 1982. It was a 40 year old cold case that as of recent has been solved or has it? The premise of this murder is that a man named Jim returned home from work on February 19th of 1982 and what he found was his wife Cathy laying lifeless in their bed with an ax in her head. As the investigation ensued it became clear that this case would be unlike any other. With all that said it's time for us to get into this week's episode. Enjoy!

It's the very 66th episode of Forsaken Cinema Podcast!!! This week, we examine the found footage possession film “Paranormal Activity”! And while Melissa was the one feeling a bit of the nostalgia this week, both of your hosts find it mostly irritating. While it was fresh when it came out, at this point in the horror game, this type of film has been completely overdone, making this revisit a bit lackluster. BUT, we have a pretty fun conversation about it anyways and we do find things to like about it, 2 of which were certainly not the main characters...yikes on bikes… Anyways, this was a super fun episode full of conversations about grundles, proboscises, money hungry studios, and what Chuck thinks about Line 6 gear owners. We hope you freaks dig it!!! ——— Also discussed: “White Zombie” 1932 “Things Heard and Seen” 2021 “Skinless” 2013 “Almost Human” 2013 ——— If you dig the show, PLEASE! On this episode of ActorSpeak, Austin Basis continues to speak with actor Polly Lee (The Americans, The Blacklist, Law Order: SVU, Gotham, Nurse Jackie, Chicago Med, The Looming Tower, Younger). In Part 2, we discuss the fundaments, audiobooks, being stranded on stage in her underwear, hating seeing herself, teasing out the humanity of a scene, serving new plays, missing human randomness, character as the actor's domain, perfection vs. progress, faking chemistry, being positively judgmental, the exact right amount of intimacy, and wanting a universal basic income for artists. Polly Lee is an award-winning actress who has dedicated her career to new plays and, as such, has performed in over 20 world premieres, both in New York City and across the country. Her New York theatre credits include Lincoln Center Theatre, Clubbed Thumb, Ensemble Studio Theatre, New Georges and Little Lord Theatre- among many others. Regionally she has worked at A.R.T., Yale Rep, La Jolla Playhouse, Humana Festival @ATL, McCarter Theatre, Wilma Theatre, Repertory Theatre of St. Louis, and many many more. Polly's Film & TV credits include The Blacklist, Law & Order: SVU, Last Week Tonight with John Oliver, Gotham, Butterflies of Bill Baker, Nurse Jackie, Chicago Med, The Looming Tower and recurring roles on Younger and The Americans. Polly has narrated over 200 audiobooks and is a proud member of Ensemble Studio Theatre, Actors Equity and an affiliated artist at Clubbed Thumb. Her upcoming films include Things Heard and Seen and Give and Take. Polly went to school for Theatre Studies at Royal Holloway at the University of London and attended the Actors Studio Drama School at New School University. Her kind eyes, warm smile, big heart, and cheeky sense of humor have endeared audiences all over the country and now I get to talk to her about her process, craft & all things acting related. 00:00 Introductie 02:52 Recensie: The Mitchells vs. The Machines 12:47 Recensie: Things Heard & Seen, Wendy, Without Remorse 25:51 Jee of Nee: We moeten niet piepen en Bioscoop voor eerlijke beoordeling 36:22 Jee of Nee: Recensies steeds minder betekenis en Oscar voor Cher 46:55 Vooruitblik Support the show: https://www.patreon.com/movieinsiders See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
Welcome to The B-Side, from The Film Stage. Here we talk about filmmakers! Not the movies that made them famous or kept them famous, but the ones that they made in between. Today, Dan and Conor have an incredibly interesting and wide-ranging conversation with directing duo Shari Springer Berman and Robert Pulcini. We chat about their new movie Things Heard & Seen (now available on Netflix), then dive back into their eclectic, accomplished career. From the serendipitous way they came to make the doc Off the Menu: The Last Days of Chasen's to the unintentional development of the underrated The Extra Man, starring Kevin Kline and Paul Dano. Their HBO film Cinema Verite is briefly mentioned, a wonderful telling of the making of the groundbreaking PBS documentary An American Family from 1973. Other topics include a failed reimagining of Bride of Frankenstein, the nightmarish post-production process on The Nanny Diaries thanks to Harvey Weinstein, and why Robert has edited most of their films himself. There's also a delightful detour into discussing their semi-lost documentary Wanderlust, which examines road movies and their place in Americana. An unsolvable issue with rights to film clips used in the edit made it unreleasable. There's also references to Danny Peary's 1981 book Cult Movies and Stoner by John Williams.
