In part two, we see Horst locked in not only a battle with his cousins Armin and Gerd at the helm of Puma, he is also engaged in an internal struggle with his own parents for control of Adidas, all the while pioneering the world of sports marketing and advertising. After the death of his father, Horst is left to run the company as he sees fit, and while he grew Adidas to unimaginable heights, he had some bumps and bruises along the way, and would come to learn a new arch nemesis in the likes of a small American operation by the name of Blue Ribbon Sports (aka Nike). These two would go to any length to one up the other, and ended up duking it out for the biggest athlete's in the world to represent their brands, and they got there through backstabbing and collusion. Bell, Bivins, and DeVoe formed the group at the suggestion of producers Jimmy Jam & Terry Lewis. Upon accepting the idea, MCA records wrote down the name Bell Bivins DeVoe, but Bivins suggested they remove the ins from his name and just call the group Bell Biv DeVoe.[1] With help from Public Enemy producers Eric Sadler, Hank and Keith Shocklee, and several others, Bell Biv Devoe released its debut album Poison in 1990, on MCA Records. The album was credited as pioneering the "new jack swing" sound of the early 1990s, combining hip-hop, funk, soul, and pop music. This fusion of styles helped to expose them to a fan base who prefer a harder edge sound.[1] Poison reached number 1 on Billboard's R&B/Hip-Hop chart, and its title track, along with its second single, "Do Me!", both reached number 3 on Billboard's Hot 100 chart. Bell Biv DeVoe went on to release Hootie Mack in 1993 on MCA Records, and the more hardcore rap/R&B influenced BBD in 2001 on Biv 10 Records. Neither album was as successful as Poison; however, Hootie Mack did reach Gold success. Despite the fact that their last album was released in 2001, the members of Bell Biv Devoe continue to perform together as a group.[8] They also participated in several New Edition reunions, and continue to perform with them on tour as part of the group. On May 30, 2013, Bell Biv DeVoe performed their hit song "Poison" for Boston Strong, a benefit concert to raise money for victims of the Boston Marathon bombing.In 2016 BBD released their first track in 15 years, "Run," along with an accompanying music video.[10] It was the first single off the album Three Stripes, which was released January 27, 2017. Decided to review the latest release from BBD. Never thought I'd say that as an adult but here I am reviewing Three Stripes from Bell Biv Devoe. Listen and hear if I think the album is up to snuff or if they could have sat that one out. Considering they took BET by storm with their biopic it's only fitting a release of new music would soon follow suit. Will this album be the beginnings of national resurgence in all things BBD? After rapper Desiigner was accused - and later cleared of gun charges acquired last week during an incident where he was accused of waving a gun around in a car stocked with hundreds of loose narcotic pills…it turns out there were actually no drugs on the scene either. It actually turns out that they were his bodyguards who was later arrested...go figure - BIG comeback! BBD is back! Bell Biv DeVore returns with a new Notorious B.I.G. sampling track, “Run,” and with a new album on the horizon. The new album from Ricky Bell, Mike Bivins and Ron Devoe is called "Three Stripes" and is due out January 27, 2017. The National Newspaper Publishers Association (NNPA) is launching, "Project Black Voter Turnout 2016: 20 Million Black Voters to the Polls" comprised of more than 211 Black-owned media companies operating in the US, to issue front-page news coverage and motivational editorials and website ads to promote effective Get-Out-The-Vote (GOTV) campaigns in the Black community. The least of a comeback gotes to Kanye West. Fashion critics and Twitter slanderers alike have all threw shade and shots at Kanye’s Yeezy Season 4 fashion show that took place during New York’s Fashion Week. The “multiracial only” models in the show were either falling down from heat exhaustion or not knowing how to walk in high heels.
