If you think back, even two years ago, the menopause conversation was still really stifled, and worse yet, resources and information were minimal. Enter our next guests to the podcast. Menopause pioneer, Gwen Harris, saw the need as far back as 2013 with the start of the Menopause Support Group. The organization grew organically to 11,000 members by 2018, and then Tina McDermott, a wellness coach, joined forces with Gwen. The Menopause Support Group now spans the globe with well over 140,000 members in 120 countries, and out of this Menowave was born, an online, integrated care model for women in menopause.Early menopause and perimenopause can ambush the unexpecting, leading to a storm of questions and concerns. Gwen and Tina join me in shining a beacon of hope for those navigating these tumultuous waters, detailing how their comprehensive health assessment bridges the gap between confusion and taking action. Pack your bags for a journey to Sedona, where 'Menopalooza' promises an oasis of self-discovery and sisterhood. These retreats offer members and care providers an opportunity to connect in a more intimate setting. Life-long bonds are made between the attendees through the profound impact of community and support, rewriting the narrative of menopause, one story at a time. In this week's episode, I spoke with Tina McDermott who spent most of her life struggling with digestive issues. She didn't understand that the embarrassing gas, bloating, constipation, and yo-yo weight gain/loss she had since she was a teenager were all interconnected and thought that it was just ‘the way it is', and that she had to live with it.When Tina learned that she had Lyme disease, which had gone undetected for years and wreaked havoc on her health along with digestive issues, she also suffered from extreme chronic fatigue, depression, vertigo, fevers, weight gain and ultimately Hashimoto's disease. Tina's inspiration for her own wellness journey began when her older sister Anna was diagnosed with breast cancer at the age of 23 and ultimately took her at the age of 48. Anna's illness and suffering was a wake-up call for Tina to learn more about how to take better care of her own health, and help others as well.We discussed:2:20Tina's Journey30:00Lyme Disease34:40Depression, Vertigo, & Hashimoto's Related to Lyme Disease.41:55Tina's Life Changing Moment50:40Facing ChallengesYou can find Tina @:https://www.tinamcdermott.comhttps://www.tinasjoyfulkitchen.com (Youtube channel)https://www.linkedin.com/in/tina-mcdermott/https://www.facebook.com/groups/FinallythinforeverSupporthttps://www.instagram.com/tinasjoyouskitchen/Support the showDon't forget to leave a Rating for the podcast! You can find Leigh @:Leigh website - https://www.bodychek.co.uk/Leigh's books - https://www.bodychek.co.uk/books/ Eliminate Adult Acne Programme - https://skinwebinar.com/HEAL THEM Education Programme - http://healthemeducation.vhx.tv/ Radical Health Rebel YouTube Channel - https://www.youtube.com/@radicalhealthrebelpodcast

Tina spent most of her life struggling with digestive issues and couldn't understand that the embarrassing gas, bloating, constipation, and yo-yo weight gain/loss all were interconnected. She had these issues since she was a teenager and thought this was just a part of life and had to live with it. Fast forward to her 30's, she learned that she had Lyme disease, which had gone undetected for years and wreaked havoc on her body. Along with digestive issues, Tina also suffered from extreme and chronic fatigue, depression, vertigo, fevers, weight gain, and ultimately Hashimoto's disease. She thought she was going through menopause at the age of 37 and couldn't understand why all these things were happening. It took five years to finally figure out ways to be symptom-free. Tina now manages her wellness and weight naturally through food, fitness, and the right supplements. I had these issues since I was a teenager and thought that it was just ‘the way it is', and that I had to live with it. Flash forward to my 30's. I learned that I had Lyme disease, which had gone undetected for years and wreaked havoc on my body. It took me years to finally figure out the way in which to be symptom-free. Tina calls herself 'the Lazy Inspirational Chef' and what a way to start this episode. Tina believes that when we master our psychology, we can get healthier for life. Rather than shoving our feelings down into our fat cells, how about we send those feelings some love, show up for ourselves, have fun and create more joy in our lives. Because we're on this plant for joy. Be inspired.
In today's episode, Marsha had the pleasure to speak with the joyful Tina Mcdermott! She is the founder and host of Tina's Joyful kitchen, speaker and wellness coach. Today Tina shares the story that inspired her to help others to eat and live well. Tina has almost 20 years of being in the health and wellness industry but she struggled with her issues as early as her teenage years. It wasn't until she was in her 30's that she was finally diagnosed, which at least gave her a starting point. Her diagnosis made it quite challenging for her body, but she could not quit having a healthy normal life. It was Tina's own will to find a way to manage her symptoms which she had been experiencing for years. Tina eventually discovered a way to be symptom-free through diet, exercise and supplements. Tina is now helping others to be able to manage their health through the same process. In addition to teaching others how to deal with emotional issues as it relates to food and your overall health. Tina McDermott transforms people's lives through her inspiration, wisdom, knowledge and love of living well. Tina is an Inspirational Chef, Speaker, and Weight loss coach for nearly 20 years and is passionate about helping people release unwanted weight naturally and keep it off forever without yo-yo dieting. For the past 20 years she has had the joy and pleasure to help her clients pursue healthier lifestyles through her weight release and fitness programs that she personally designs. Tina gives guidance, love and support to her clients so they too can be strong, fit, healthy and be free from the emotional chains that keep them inside the walls of limiting beliefs, food addictions, weight gain, and belly challenges. Her slogan is Be Healthy, Vibrant and Free. Tina teaches nutrition courses, cooking classes, fitness and various webinars within corporations as well as delivers keynote corporate speeches. In today's episode Tina shares her story learning to love her body. Growing up as the third female child in an Italian family, Tina never felt the love she craved from both her parents. The only way for her to get the love and attention she craved was to refuse food. It wasn't long until this behavior developed into Anorexia. She used to refuse to eat as a form of control over her crazy Italian parents and her chaotic life, and then when she was twelve years old everything she changed. She traveled to Italy with her Nona and fell in love with food for the first time. Tina realized she had an emotional relationship with food, and after her sister passed away from cancer it was the wake-up call she needed to take care of herself. She realized she had a deep love of wellness, and it became her mission to teach as many people as she could about natural health and wellness. Over the years she's come to peace with the self-sabotaging behaviors, and Tina knows if she can heal you can too. Now Tina teaches professional menopausal women to lose weight naturally and keep it off forever without yo-yo dieting. The key to her success is coming to peace with those emotions that drive you to eat and keep you stuck.
