Megan shares her personal story of being abused as a child. Megan also dives into her upbringing in the Mormon church and the pressures placed on its members. Eventually leaving the church, she now focuses on promoting a healthy lifestyle after surviving trauma. During our discussion, we explore the concept of grooming and how victims often don't realize they are being manipulated until it's too late. She also shares the challenges she faced in forming relationships and dealing with the lingering trauma throughout her life. We touch upon the harmful teachings and victim-blaming prevalent in the Mormon church, shedding light on the damaging effects they have on survivors. Megan reveals her journey towards healing and the therapy she sought to address her trauma. She emphasizes the importance of support systems and self-care routines during therapy, as well as navigating the side effects that can arise. Megan also discusses disclosing her experiences to her parents and siblings, and her beautiful relationship with her children. Through writing her book, she aims to inspire and provide hope for other survivors of abuse. In our conversation, we emphasize the need to shift society's beliefs towards victims and prioritize empathy. While maintaining the principle of innocent until proven guilty, we discuss how starting with a belief in victims can lead to a more compassionate response. Understanding the reasons behind false allegations can also help us develop empathy for survivors. Child grooming becomes another focal point as we discuss the fears associated with it. We stress the importance of education and actively being present in our children's lives to prevent such incidents. Megan emphasizes her dedication to providing emotional stability and love to her own children, ensuring their safety and well-being. We also highlight the low percentage of false accusations and the importance of addressing the underlying reasons behind such behavior, all while believing victims and relying on skilled investigators to uncover the truth. CONNECT WITH MEGAN: https://third-verse.com/

This led him on a journey to discover what was real and what wasn't, eventually stepping down from his position as a pastor to deconstruct his belief system.   He shares how his upbringing shaped his perspective on life being a struggle and how becoming a young father made him question the worth of trading his life away for a paycheck. The host also discusses how religion became his drug of choice, distracting him from himself and leading him to become a pastor in an attempt to help people heal. If you love the show and would like to support it, please share this episode!  You can also Buy Me A Coffee! ☕❤️ As an indie podcaster, that would mean the world to me! Weight loss and fitness aren't optional to Dominic Matteo.  For him they are literally matters of life and death. We have to go back to 2009 to understand why.  Dominic was in rough shape.  In fact, he was morbidly obese. He held a decent job, he was happily married, he enjoyed some solid, long-standing friendships, and he liked his hometown, Cleveland.Yet something wasn't right in his life – and on a deep level, he knew it. He just wasn't sure what the problem was, or how to fix it. Or maybe he lacked the confidence to try.Things could have continued like that indefinitely. Dominic might have existed with this low-level dissatisfaction for years. After all, many people do – assuming that it's the best they can expect, or doubting that they have whatever it takes to achieve fulfillment. But fate had something different in store for Dominic. And it arrived in the form of two significant and eerily timed events.First, one of his closest friends suffered a pulmonary embolism and passed away.Naturally, the news stunned him. It's never easy to lose the people we care for, but when they're young and their death is sudden, it's that much harder to reconcile ourselves to the fact that they are gone.Meanwhile, on the very day that his friend died, Dominic also learned that his wife, Kelly, was pregnant with their first son.In a few short months, he would become a father. This is the kind of juxtaposition that would compel any of us to reconsider our lives and our choices. Dominic was no exception. He had been diagnosed with metabolic syndrome and “exercise induced asthma.” And he knew that if he kept on going the way he was going, his physical condition would only get worse. If he wanted to be there for his son in a meaningful way, he had to act – now.As a kid, growing up in Arizona and New Mexico, he'd loved to chase lizards and ride his bike, and he'd happily explored the desert for entire days.Yet something was different now.He felt pulled in a new way to persist and to go deeper in his reading and his learning. And the deeper he went, the more he wanted to learn and do.Meanwhile, the weight was coming off.  In the first year, he lost 100 pounds. But at that point, he was small and weak. He then decided to put on some muscle and try to lean out even further. That makes the process sound simple and straightforward. But it wasn't.In fact, Dominic started and stopped quite a few times during his journey – feeling unsure that he could continue, or simply not Eventually, Dominic lost 110 pounds, reducing his body fat to the single digits. No longer morbidly obese, instead he was unusually fit.And weight loss wasn't the only benefit. As he started to become more comfortable with the process and more confident that he could maintain and even improve on his new levels of fitness, he found himself experimenting, looking at his own outcomes. In effect he was coaching himself.“For example, I found that certain foods inflamed the arthritis in my neck quite a bit,” he explains. “Cutting those foods out and adding more anti-inflammatory foods pretty much eliminated the arthritis issues.”Always curious, and always a careful and methodical thinker, Dominic was now bringing these strengths to a new area of his life.As result he was feeling healthier, not only in body, but also in mind and spirit. He was coming into his own..Still working full-time as a systems analyst for a major insurance company – and by now, a proud father – he also became a part-time coach and trainer, working with others to help them attain the amazing results he'd achieved for himself.Within the next few years, Dominic earned certifications from just about every sports and nutrition association out there.International Rugby Board, Hardstyle kettlebells, Russian kettlebells, StrongFirst Girya, the National Academy of Sports Medicine, PN's Certification program, the Institute for Integrative Nutrition – and more.In fact, once he'd begun, it was as if he couldn't get enough learning in this field. And he supplemented his learning with continued practice, coaching members of his rugby team, designing and delivering workshops, offering group classes and programs.“A lot of people don't give themselves enough credit,” Dominic explains. “They want to change. But they don't believe in themselves. So they shut themselves down before they even try.”His job, as a coach, is to offer the kind of encouragement they need to get them over that hump of resistance. “So they can see how strong they really are,” he adds. “It's an amazing process.”And as someone who has lost a substantial amount of weight and taken himself from morbid obesity to fitness, he's uniquely positioned to understand his clients' triumphs and their challenges.“There are things you go through that lots of people might not even think about,” he explains.Your identity shifts. Your relationships change. And when you lose a great deal of weight, you can even become almost unrecognizable to others and to yourself.People treat you differently – for better and for worse. You wonder how and where you fit in.At moments like that, a coach can be invaluable – supporting you in your positive choices, helping you navigate the social minefields, and encouraging you to be your best self. "What" people do is self-evident, as they wouldn't be doing it if it wasn't achieving some time of payoff. Then he stabbed her. Seven times. She lost 21 pints of blood. Statistically, she should not have survived. And if that wasn't enough, she was victim-blamed and -shamed by the investigating police, hospital staff, family and friends, and even strangers. Now, she's telling her amazing story of survival: candidly, honestly, courageously. Hoping that in doing so, she will help others do the same. Her book, "Choosing Survival: How I Endured a Brutal Attack and a Lifetime of Trauma Through the Power of Action, Choice and Self-Expression," details her attack, her miraculous and difficult recovery, and tips for anyone overcoming trauma or struggle.Lynn is a dancer and actor. From a broken 26 year marriage and a victim to hiking Kilimanjaro at 61

If you love the show and would like to support it, please share this episode!  You can also Buy Me A Coffee! ☕❤️ As an indie podcaster, that would mean the world to me!------------------------------------------------------The end of Nancy's 26 year marriage broke her to the core.  Her subsequent split with her fiancé years later, finally woke her up that there were lessons here she needed to learn and that is exactly what she has done.  For Nancy, it was a journey back to self as she crawled back out of her victim mindset to become the thought leader and guide that she is today. For so long, Nancy thought she was living her own life's vision.  She was raised to be a wife and mother – with maybe a side career to go along with it. A natural caretaker, she readily stepped into that role and was good at it. Whatever passion or purpose was important to her husband, it immediately became hers. She loved their life and she loved her role in keeping it all together... until her husband had a personality break and midlife crisis. So, when it all came crumbling to pieces, she told herself that he ruined her life. She thought if he no longer wanted me, then she no longer wanted herself.  She was stuck in grief and blame – he broke our family picture.  He broke her.  Nancy couldn't see anything good in her life and she certainly couldn't see her role in any of it. She was devastated and she didn't have the tools to move forward and heal and it took her many years to recover and find herself again. In that time, all she knew is that she wanted her life fixed. So, she dove into another relationship again, where her role was to keep it all going.  She felt whole and life was fun again.  But, the problem was that no matter how hard she tried to keep the pieces of the picture together, it didn't work.At the end of that relationship, she knew she had to take a deeper look at what was happening. Coaching finally opened her eyes to see the role she played in her life circumstances.  With greater emotional awareness and understanding, she discovered that she had been following a life blueprint that was not her own.   Nancy went from being "other referenced" (seeing her worth through the eyes of her husband) to self-referenced and  only needing her own self love and trust to know her worth.Nancy is now a master life coach and international best selling author.  She learned to reinvent herself after her marriage fell apart and she uses the tools and strategies she learned over the years to inspire others to live their best life.  She is a speaker, coach and presenter at resorts such as Rancho La Puerta. Her passion is helping others move beyond their fears and disempowering beliefs formed in their childhood.Nancy's personal life story is a testimony to her proven methods. At the age of 61, she climbed Mount Kilimanjaro, in addition to other amazing experiences and achievements that recalibrated her way of being and became her vision for a bigger life. Not everyone must climb a mountain to live larger. As her book well shows, each of our versions of a bigger life can be anything that brings elation, accomplishment, fulfillment, and connection with the spirit of who we are. Bigger Better Braver  provides the pathway to uncover our personal vision of what living bigger means and opens the door for a major life change. CONNECT WITH NANCY:  https://nancypickardlifecoach.comhttps://www.facebook.com/Nancypickardlifecoachhttps://www.instagram.com/nancypickardlifecoach/https://www.linkedin.com/in/nancy-pickard-771993a6/youtube-https://www.youtube.com/channel/UChIRgQALX2z1dFUp55g_fTgtwitter-https://twitter.com/cnancyrun CONNECT WITH COACH JON:NUTRITION: https://www.freedomnutritioncoach.com  ⁣YOUTUBE: https://jonmclernon.link/YouTubeCRUSH YOUR CRAVINGS GUIDE: https://www.freedomnutritioncoach.com/book  ⁣FREE 7-DAY CHALLENGE: https://www.freedomnutritioncoach.com/7-day-challengePODCAST: https://jonmclernon.link/btba-podcast
