BEST OF TST: Google has been working with health companies to create databases of personal information - project Nightingale. DNA companies like 23andMe, run by ex wife of founder of Google, and sister of another founder, who runs Youtube, which is owned by Google, gather up genetic information in compartmentalized programs that are ultimately connected to the CIA, NSA, DARPA and DOD, where the blood of babies has been routinely sold after birth blood extraction. Now Google wants to work with banks to offer checking accounts - project Cache. The full spectrum of this power is economic to full spectrum dominance of owning your DNA and manufacturing DNA-specific weapons to target certain individuals. Why would they do this? Well, consider a recent report by 11,000+ scientists that suggested the world's population must be reduced with integrity. If you think you are saving the planet, then killing millions with plausible deniability is a justified means to that end, no matter what the reasoning. Nightingales are also known as muses or sirens that lure prey to their death. It is also the name of a thieves guild from the game Skyrim.*The is the FREE archive, which includes advertisements. To follow up on my recording of the Nightingales at Middlewick from last year (yes, I know it takes me a long time to do things) I wanted to record the skylarks as there are several nesting pairs on the site. Frazer Merrick (artist and runner) commented that he'd just heard them on Middlewick and Michael Padmore (from the 'Save Middlewick' campaign) tipped me off of some more locations. So I got up before dawn and headed out to hide amongst the gorse and broom. Even at 6:30 you can hear that there is a lot of traffic noise that the birds have to compete with. The skylarks were very actively singing, but I couldn't observe them flying with their distinctive up and down trajectories. Also in this recording are Chiffchaff, Great Tit, Linnet, Blackbird, Crow and Song Thrush. Just at the end of this recording (edited off) I got bowled into by an out of control dog called Rocky, which knocked me off of my seat and onto the floor, covering me with wet footprints and slobbery tongue. Imagine what it would do to the skylarks if it had found them nesting on the ground.

Democrats won a key Wisconsin Supreme Court race. The result is being seen as a rebuke of Elon Musk, who campaigned in the state and spent millions on the GOP candidate. New auto tariffs are supposed to be for “foreign” cars and parts, but no US-made vehicle will escape the impact. Detroit’s obsession with big cars won’t help.  UCLA’s cityLAB has launched a design competition where contestants can submit proposals for low-cost, easy-to-build starter homes on vacant city-owned lots. Bernie Krause’s thousands of hours of recordings reveal how climate change is affecting the natural world. His life and work are the subject of the documentary “The Last of the Nightingales.” Actor Val Kilmer died Tuesday at age 65. His career included both “Top Gun” films, “Batman Forever,” “Heat,” and an iconic performance as Jim Morrison in “The Doors.”

Nic Beales in conversation with David Eastaugh https://sweetpool.bandcamp.com/ Pigbros was an English indie band formed in Birmingham in 1984 by Nick Beales (guitar & vocals) fresh from a stint in The Nightingales and Jonathan Cooke (bass). Recruiting a teenage Fuzz Townshend - as well as projects under his own name) the band played a few gigs before augmenting the line up a few months later to include Svor Naan (saxophone & guitar) not long departed from The Cravats & DcL Locomotive. The initial sound was a rumbling, bass-heavy groove, driven by Fuzz's drumming and Jonathan's unique echo bass with Nick's fierce choppy guitar playing. Added to this concoction was Svor's mixture of sax riffing and swirling echo effects and a rather curious guitar style which could be mistaken for a balalaika. The band finally split in 1988 with members doing their own projects.

Hey folks, welcome to the latest episode of the Ecosystem Member podcast. We've got a really great episode for you today with musician, writer and nature campaigner, Sam Lee. If you aren't familiar with Sam, he is a Mercury Prize-nominated folk musician who has broken through to the mainstream. His latest album ‘songdreaming' earned a five-star review from The Guardian and was named Mojo's Album of the Month. When I set out to explore the relationships humans have with nature and the more-than-human world, I wasn't sure what I'd find. Many of these relationships are based on taking resources or inspiration from nature, but Sam's relationship with the nightingale is one of collaboration - across several mediums. In addition to collaborating with the nightingale on songs like ‘Bushes & Briars & Birds', which is part of the EarthPercent and Sounds Right initiative to credit and financially recognize through royalties the more-than-human world as a musical contributor, Sam runs immersive events every spring called ‘Singing With Nightingales', where seekers can join Sam and a guest musician to delve into the forest at night and sing with the nightingales. It sounds like a truly magical experience that we discuss in more depth in the podcast. Sam also wrote the book ‘The Nightingale: Notes on a Songbird' that was called the nature book of the year when it was released in 2021 and has collaborated with organizations like Emergence Magazine, Huck and On the Edge to create films around his connection with the nightingale. What's worrying is that the UK is on track to lose the nightingale entirely within the next 40 years. Future generations may not even have the chance to connect and collaborate with the nightingale, making it all the more important that we connect people with it now so we can understand what we might be losing. Make sure to visit Sam's website at samleesong.co.uk and follow him on Instagram at samleesong. He's got some amazing events coming up. Tickets are on sale today - November 27 - at for Signing with the Nightingales 2025, and he'll be performing in the coming months at venues including Edinburgh Castle and Royal Albert Hall. Huge thanks to Sam for taking time to chat. I got a bit rambly in my questions as I am a big fan of Sam's music and was just a little nervous to say the least, but I really hope you enjoy the outcome. And if you are intrigued by the idea of Earthpercent and Sounds Right, make sure to stay tuned as we'll have more artists on who have participated in this effort. You can find about more about EarthPercent at earthpercent.org and on Instagram at @earthpercent. It is really the music industry's climate foundation was was founded by the legendary musician and creative catalyst Brian Eno. And what's really cool is that anyone in music - not just the musician, so think promoters and venue artists - can work with EarthPercent to include Earth as a stakeholder in their activities. All of the money raised is distributed to fund climate solutions by an Expert Advisory panel of leading climate scientists, researchers and advisors. What does Nature sing on a place that has seen blood spilled in behalf of kingdoms' territory dispute, species extinction and the abandonment of land? During the whole time I spent in this region, that was on my mind. It was psychologically difficult and the rocky and dry shrubs didn't offer much solace. I think about the attempts of land domination and how a harmonious and reciprocal relationship could reflect on the landscape. This recording invites us to listen with an open mind. The main species on this recording are: Golden Oriole (Oriolus oriolus), Red-backed Shrike (Lanius collurio), Common Blackbird (Turdus Merula), Common Nightingale (Luscinia megarhynchos), Common Wood Pigeon (Columba palumbus), Common Quail (Coturnix coturnix). In the still of a spring night, we journey into the woods with musicians Sam Lee and Jack Durtnall to hear the beautiful and increasingly rare song of the nightingale with a concert and conversation around the campfire. Artistic Director Josephine Burton treads lightly in the footsteps of a historic partnership between the nightingale and humans. The BBC's first ever live outside broadcast was recorded exactly 100 years ago in May 1924 as cellist Beatrice Harrison played alongside a nightingale. Our episode is the start of a new series of Dash Arts podcasts exploring the relationship between art and nature, and part of Dash's current season, Albion; an investigation of modern Englishness in all its complexity. Hey everybody, welcome back. In this episode, Tim, Gary, Lizz, and Ash discuss their speculation and wish lists for Halloween Horror Nights. They cover possible Blumhouse houses, including Five Nights at Freddy's and Imaginary. They also talk about the potential return of the Creature from the Black Lagoon and the need for a comedy house like Totally Killer 80s Movie. The hosts express their desire for a standalone A Nightmare on Elm Street house and the return of the Body Collectors and Psychoscarepy. They also discuss the possibility of a Holidays in Hell house and an HR Blood and Guts house. The episode concludes with a discussion on a spooky Christmas house and a Twisted Tradition maze. The conversation covers various scare zones and houses that could be featured at Halloween Horror Nights. Some of the suggested ideas include bringing back popular scare zones like Ghost Town and Invasion, creating a new Ghostbusters house for its anniversary, and having a 1980s slasher-themed house. Other ideas include a sequel to Slaughter Cinema, a house based on The Fog, and a house set in Port of Entry. The conversation also explores the possibility of incorporating 1984 horror movies into the event. The hosts discuss their wishlist for Halloween Horror Nights houses, including ideas for Poseidon's Fury, Oddfellow vs. Jackhouse, Hellraiser, Scream, synthwave, Midnight Syndicate, Nightingales, and Sores and Steam. They also mention other potential houses such as Tales from the Crypt, Legends of the Hidden Temple, 13 Ghosts, and Terrifier. The episode concludes with a discussion on Mardi Gras and speculation about the upcoming Halloween Horror Nights event. -------------------------------------------------------------------- Chapters 00:00 Introduction and Catching Up 01:13 Discussion on Speculation and Wish Lists 03:06 Possible Blumhouse Houses 05:20 Creature from the Black Lagoon House 08:24 Comedy House: Totally Killer 80s Movie 10:45 A Nightmare on Elm Street House 17:48 Return of Body Collectors and Psychoscare 19:48 Comedy House: HR Blood and Guts 23:38 Holidays in Hell and HR Blood and Guts 26:53 Spooky Christmas House 27:32 Twisted Tradition Maze 28:24 Scare Zones and Houses 29:09 Ghost Town Anniversary 30:41 Invasion House 33:32 The Fog House 35:01 Killer Clowns from Outer Space 40:02 1980s Slasher House 41:14 Ghostbusters Return 50:02 Slaughter Cinema Sequel 57:26 Port of Entry House 58:45 Ideas for Poseidon's Fury and Oddfellow vs. Jackhouse 59:43 Wishlist: Hellraiser and Scream 01:04:09 Wishlist: Synthwave and Midnight Syndicate 01:06:04 Wishlist: Nightingales and Sores and Steam 01:08:26 Additional Wishlist Ideas 01:12:44 Discussion on Mardi Gras and HHN Speculation -------------------------------------------------------------------- Follow us on social media: Twitter: https://twitter.com/riptourpodcast Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/riptourpodcast/ YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/c/RipTourPodcast Merch: https://shop.spreadshirt.com/riptourpodcast TikTok: @Riptourpodcast Drop us a tweet! Every year, birds that breed in Europe and Asia migrate south to spend the winter in Africa, passing over Tsavo National Park in Kenya between late September and December. On dark, misty nights during migration, many birds become disoriented and land in the bushes and shrubs around the lights of Ngulia Safari Lodge, situated in the Ngulia Hills Escarpment. This year's migration brought a rich mix of migratory and resident bird songs. As day broke, the beautiful savanna was filled with the songs of visiting Nightingales, Warblers, and Orioles, often trying to sing louder than the resident Emerald-spotted Wood Doves, Boubous, Guineafowls, and Francolins. At times, their songs blended into one of the most spectacular dawn choruses I've ever heard. Avian migration is one of the greatest natural spectacles in the world, and it was amazing to record a small part of this sound phenomena in my country.  This recording is highly dynamic and therefore we ask the listener caution with listening volumes, especially if using headphones. Recorded by Martha Mutiso in Tsavo West National Park, Kenya

Each spring, millions of birds head north. From Ecuador, beautiful Scarlet Tanagers fly to the eastern US and Canada, many traversing the Gulf of Mexico, an arduous journey. Across much of southern Europe, Common Nightingales – small thrushes with russet feathers – are arriving, having traveled northward from Africa across immense deserts. In northern Asia, petite songbirds known as Siberian Rubythroats — like this one — are arriving en masse, some winging their way across the South China Sea from the Philippines, others over the mountains from Thailand.More info and transcript at BirdNote.org. Want more BirdNote?
