Traver Boehm is the author of the books “Today I Rise” and “Man UNcivilized“. He's a two-time TEDx speaker, men's coach, and the founder of the UNcivilized Men's Movement. He's helped men all over the world to become UNcivilized as they wake up to the power of their hearts, the brilliance of their bodies, and the wisdom of their souls so they can blaze their own path by uniquely blending both the primal and the divine within them.He is dedicated to doing his part to help end the suffering in men, and the suffering caused by men, by guiding them through their own journey into an actualized version of masculinity.
Michael Gay is Uncivilized royalty, having been there from the beginning and is one of our co-leaders in our workshops. On today's episode of Kalam Podcast Edgar speaks with the founder of Uncivilized Media, Salem Barahmeh. Uncivilized is a channel that tells stories about people and places that are unrepresented, silenced or erased. Very similar to what we do here at Kalam Podcast. Edgar first met Salem on a cold, rainy day in Stockholm several years ago. At the time, he was working with PIPD, the Palestinian Institute for Public Diplomacy. He was traveling the Western World, lobbying for the Palestinian cause with politicians, diplomats and grassroots organisers. Since then he has pivoted into storytelling and political education, catering largely to the masses on social media. And he's been very successful. We'll get back to Salem Barahmeh and his storytelling that connects stories of struggle from Northern Sweden to Palestine to Taiwan. If you enjoy Kalam Podcast and want to suppor the show, there is an excellent way to do so - by joining Klub Kalam on patreon. The Dean's List with Host Dean Bowen – In conversation with Dr. Jon Morey, we explore the idea of becoming more uncivilized to reconnect with our natural societal organization. Morey explains how civilization corrupts our inherent human processes, leading to oppression and anxiety. Through his program, Uncivilized Vitality, he offers insights on rediscovering self-sufficiency and achieving a serene, joyful life.
"THE UNCIVILIZED MAN... Is Unapologetically Male. Dangerous but not a danger. Makes still his mind, makes savage his body. Knows his gifts grow in the garden of his wounds. Practices presence and performance. Honors the men before him, the women who bore him, and the children who will inherit his Earth. Has equal and easy access to his head, heart, and balls. Lives, by the rule — there are no rules — but there is responsibility. Loves fiercely, openly, and without reservation. Knows strength without love is tyranny. Knows love without strength is victimhood." These are the words you will find on the „about me“ page of the website „Man Uncivilized, created by the founder Traver Boehm. Traver is a man who knows men deeply. And much of the wisdom and insights he imparts to other men actually from his own lived experiences, particularly the breakdown moment that flipped his life upside down and catapulted him on his path of transformation. In a mere period of 24 hours, his wife and his business partner at the time both decided to go their separate ways – resulting in the loss of his marriage, business partnership, and business. Dumbstruck by what had happened, Traver knew the only way he could overcome this loss was by consciously moving through it. He created a program for himself called the "Year to Live Project," where he deliberately lived an entire year as if it was his last. And in that year among other things, he volunteered in hospice, spent 28 days in a dark room, and completed a one-month outdoor survival course. Eventually his own journey of growth led him to birth "Man Uncivilized" – one of the fastest-growing men's movements in the world where his mission is "to stop the unnecessary suffering in men in order to stop the suffering caused by men." I first became exposed to Traver's work three years ago when I read his book "Man Uncivilized." At the time, I was on a deep journey of self-discovery, exploring what it even means to be a man, but also how I could integrate the aspects of myself that I had locked away, such as my assertiveness, anger, grief, shame, and desires, among many other things. Traver's work has been absolutely pivotal for me in my own journey, and it was an honor to come full circle and invite Traver to "Heart of Man." As I see it, this conversation deeply lived up to the anticipation I had for it. We delved deeply into Traver's personal journey and extracted some of the deepest lessons, as well as what helped him move past rock bottom. And from there, we transitioned into our conversation around men and masculinity, diving into various areas such as moving through pain as men, relationships, and sexuality. This has been an absolutely powerful deep dive – and I can't wait for all of you to dive in. Summary Traver Boehm, founder of the Uncivilized Movement, shares his journey of personal transformation and the creation of a men's movement. He discusses the need for men to be vulnerable and open up about their struggles, challenging the stigma that men don't reach out for help. Traver explains the concept of being uncivilized, which combines the best of traditional masculinity with emotional intelligence and self-improvement. He emphasizes the importance of resilience, faith, and tenacity in pursuing one's purpose and making a positive impact in the world. Believe in yourself, believe in your heart, and believe in something bigger than yourself. Follow these three beliefs to find satisfaction and joy in life. Take the time to sit with yourself and listen to what your heart and soul want. Don't chase material possessions or external validation, but instead focus on building meaningful relationships and following your true purpose. Remember that life is a series of micro steps and setbacks, and that success is not a linear process. Embrace the challenges and opportunities that come with rock bottom moments, and use them as a chance for growth and self-discovery. Takeaways Men often face stigma and resistance when reaching out for help, but it is important for them to be vulnerable and open up about their struggles. The Uncivilized Movement combines the best of traditional masculinity with emotional intelligence and self-improvement, challenging the notion that men have to be either tough or sensitive. Resilience, faith, and tenacity are key qualities for pursuing one's purpose and making a positive impact in the world. The concept of being uncivilized involves rejecting societal norms and systems that are not working and embracing a more authentic and fulfilling way of living. Building a supportive community and having meaningful conversations can be transformative for men and help them navigate challenges in their personal and professional lives. Believe in yourself, your heart, and something bigger than yourself Take the time to sit with yourself and listen to what your heart and soul want Focus on building meaningful relationships and following your true purpose Embrace challenges and setbacks as opportunities for growth and self-discovery Chapters 00:00 Introduction and Guest Introduction 07:01 The Importance of Men Seeking Support 11:30 Challenging Stigmas and Stereotypes 15:01 The Concept of 'Uncivilized' 24:47 The Journey of Building the Uncivilized Movement 30:24 The Power of Tenacity, Resilience, and Faith 34:34 Introduction and the Struggles of Men 57:17 The Power of Belief and Following Your Heart 01:04:24 The Importance of Relationships and Connection 01:07:23 New Chapter www.4fitfatherhood.carrd.co --- Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/4fitfatherhood/support

In this fiery solo episode I break down The 4B Movement coming out of South Korea, The Passport Bro Movement here in the US, and the wildly needed UNcivilized Relationship Paradigm. This episode is going to upset a lot of folks because, well, I'm in support of both movements despite the massive implications they will have societally. And I see them both as canaries in the relationship coal mine indicative of massive changes that need to come forward. AND — at the end I outline a new way of relationship, one I feel is long overdue. Enjoy. Please do share this with one person in your life, or twenty. What a crazy month in the civilized world, huh? Who ever would have thought such juggernauts as Nickelodeon, P Diddy, AND Andrew Huberman would come to light for being toxic and horrible — at the same time. For us at UNcivilized, this is a sign that the civilized veil is falling, truth is emerging, and as men — it's time for us to deal with what's in our own shadowy closets. In this solo episode I talk about what I see and most importantly, how you can make positive changes in your own life because of it. Enjoy. An Instagram follower asked me the difference between aspects of Traditional Masculinity and our UNcivilized Masculinity and rather than write him back a novel, I decided to record this solo episode for you. In it, I jump right to the point and outline what's great about Traditional Masculinity and — what needed to be upgraded about it. Thus the creation of UNcivilized Masculinity. I outline what makes us different and why…key word — relationship. Enjoy. Please do share this with one person in your life, or twenty. Episode 193 is a deep dive into the changing landscape of masculinity and the challenges men face today. In this episode, you'll meet Traver Boehm, the founder of the UNcivilized Men's Movement, author of Man UNcivilized, host of the UNcivilized Podcast, and a two-time TEDx speaker. Traver's goal is to end the suffering in men — to end the suffering caused by men. He is dedicated to understanding how men think, what's behind their behavior, and, most importantly, their unique challenges in the modern landscape. In 2016, after losing a pregnancy, his marriage, and his business partnership all within weeks of each other, he created a radical year-long social experiment to answer the question, “Who am I as a man?” During that year, he lived alone in a pitch-black room for a month, sat among men nearing the end of their lives in hospice, and called all of his exes to ask where he was deficient as a man. It was also when he realized that he might be able to help other men answer the question for themselves, “Who am I as a man?” Drawing upon an eclectic background ranging from professional bodyguard and mixed martial arts to a Master's Degree in Traditional Chinese Medicine and meditation, he's helped men all over the world become UNcivilized as they wake up to the power of their hearts, the brilliance of their bodies, and the wisdom of their souls so they can blaze their own path. He does this through one-on-one coaching with men or women, couples coaching, and group mentorship. If you want to take risks and live boldly to create a fulfilling and meaningful life, you've got to listen to this episode!Key Takeaways:Grounded masculinity involves being physically strong, emotionally present, and having a sense of purpose. Men have core needs, including the need to feel seen, heard, and celebrated, as well as the need for a purpose beyond family. The concept of toxic masculinity oversimplifies the issues men face and can be harmful.Men should strive to be authentic and express themselves rather than conform to societal expectations. Integrity is crucial for men, aligning thoughts, words, and actions, leading to confidence and purpose. Fitness plays a significant role in masculinity, providing strength, capability, and safety. Meditation and presence are essential for men to cultivate self-awareness, improve relationships, and navigate the challenges of modern technology. A few months ago I was at breakfast with the great Duey Freeman, chewing on some bacon and talking about the future of the Nation. He asked me a million dollar question: “How do you now define an UNcivilized Man?” I answered, “Well, he's raw…he's real…” And Duey finished my sentence, “And he's relational.” In this short solo episode I breakdown what this means and how you can apply it in your life starting today. It'd be easy to say this one's for the guys, but in all honesty, it's for all as we're all connected and are impacted by the masculine and feminine flow of it all. And, this one is also for the guys. In today's interview, Traver Boehm, author, two-time TEDx speaker, men's coach, and the founder of the UNcivilized Men's Movement, is here to shine light on men's work, men's mental health, relationships, and helping to crack open the issues that are wrapped into today's traumas, abuse, and inequality. He shares on and from his dedication to doing his part to help end the suffering in men, and the suffering caused by men, by guiding them through their own journey into an actualized version of masculinity.Along with this raw, real, heart-felt conversation, Traver shares on his month in a dark room/ashram in Guatemala, his definition and "killing of" his "nice guy", and opens up about honoring his journey through his own struggles, perseverance, and of course, mindfulness practices.Drawing upon an eclectic background ranging from professional bodyguard and Mixed Martial Arts to a Master's Degree in Traditional Chinese Medicine and meditation, he's helped men all over the world to become UNcivilized as they wake up to the power of their hearts, the brilliance of their bodies, and the wisdom of their souls so they can blaze their own path. In this short solo episode I break down the two steps you can start to take immediately to live an UNcivilized life — ie. THE LIFE OF YOUR DREAMS. I'll give them to you here but you're still going to have to do the work yourself. Or another way to say that is, “You GET to go on the ride of your life if you do this.” The steps are: 1) Figure out what you ACTUALLY want 2) Go build that Yep, once you make this your way of life all kinds of amazing and challenging things happen for you and to you, but is there any other kind of life you'd rather live? It's an UNcivilized life for me. Forever. Enjoy and please share this with someone in your life. To celebrate the 200th episode of this podcast, I asked my good friend, Traver Boehm, to get weird and do something a bit different. I sent him a text asking him to think about a couple of random things he loves or is inspired by so we could talk about them. Neither of us knew what the other was bringing to the table. A surprising feast ensued. I've long loved the podcast conversations Tim Ferriss has with his pal, Kevin Rose, so I decided to emulate that here. This chat is informal and unpredictable. It's also filled with random stories, lots of laughter, and it's quite different than any other I've done before. Please let me know what you think. If you like it, perhaps I can invite more friends to have similar chats. And a huge and grateful THANK YOU to everyone who listens and shares the podcast. I appreciate you. _______________________________________ Traver Boehm is the author of the books Today I Rise and Man UNcivilized. It's the third and final week for my team to interview me. This week it's Erin, lovingly referred to as the Director of Traver (we'll explain that title in the podcast). Together we dove into what made and still makes Traver UNcivilized, and a few specific questions from a woman's perspective of how to connect with men. Our conversation perfectly rounds out this series and I hope you love it as much as I did. Cheers, Traver
It's week two for the Team at UNcivilized to interview me! This week it's Malina, our Director of Operations, and let's just say she isn't thrilled about speaking into a microphone. But like a typical member of the UNcivilized world, she showed up full stop. She's asked me some very deep questions, in typical Malina fashion, and I just love her for it. She made me think and she made me feel. Enjoy! Cheers, Traver

We hear a LOT about Nice Guys, especially around the UNcivilized. Many men come to men's work after discovering that they themselves are Nice Guys and this is their entree point onto the path of becoming whole as a man. But what is the female equivalent of Nice Guy? And how do you spot it whether you're in the dating world or not. In this short solo episode I break down the Good Girl, how to spot her, and why, just like the Nice Guy, what sounds great at first…doesn't last. Talking points: AI, gender wars, masculinity, culture, relationships, dating, archetypes, myth All I can tell you is: this is a big one! Traver and I did an episode exchange for this one, and we always (I mean always) have great, wide-ranging conversations. It's one of the bes gifts that comes from having old friends. This is the episode to listen to if you want to hear directly from two men's coaches who have hands on experience with what men are undergoing these days, and some of the ways we can regulate and manage what seems to be ever-increasing chaos. [00:03:52] - How social media conversations have gotten a lot more intense—and why[00:11:03] - How this is affecting men in general[00:16:57] - So much bad s**t is happening. What does your average man do?[00:26:56] - What used to be “luxuries” like a morning meditation practice are now tools for survival[00:33:02] - The effect even a basic participation in online toxicity can have[00:43:39] - “How do we get men back engaged in relationship itself?”[00:58:43] - The greatest gift you can give your partner[01:05:16] - Men need myth[01:11:50] - Why AI needs to be trained on myth Traver Boehm is the author of the books “Today I Rise” and “Man UNcivilized”. He's a two-time TEDx speaker, men's coach, and the founder of the UNcivilized Men's Movement. This conversation is hands-down one of my favourites to date on this podcast. We're speaking with Traver Boehm, an author of two books, 2 time TEDx Speaker, men's coach and founder of the UNcivilized Men's Movement, which is radically redefining the way men around the globe experience their masculinity by uniquely blending both primal elements of manhood with massive doses of consciousness. In 2016 after losing a pregnancy, his marriage, and his business partnership all within weeks of each other, he created a radical social experiment and spent the next 12 months as if it were his last year to live, aptly naming it “The Year to Live Project.” Now men all over the world have deemed themselves UNcivilized as they wake up to meditate, feel into their hearts, and train their bodies. Men who can fight, fuck, feed, and feel. And do all four well. In this episode, we're talking about: How men show up in relationships and the biggest reason why women end relationships (outside of abuse) and how men can cultivate a superpower to make the feminine feel safe in unexpected ways The powerful message Traver has for men everywhere and how he's looking to change the entire culture and spread his message, along with addressing where men need to take responsibility for their own emotional health Men's mental health, and the mountain of male trauma that often goes unaddressed as males have so much less social support than women and a suicide rate that is 3X higher Traver's take on one of the biggest reasons why he believes mass shootings end up happening and what to do about it.
