Best of all, you will connect with your Celtic heritage. Please tell one friend about this podcast. Word of mouth is the absolute best way to support any creative endeavor. Here's a thought worth sitting with. The single most powerful thing we can do to fight climate change is move toward clean energy. Solar, wind, hydro. Energy that doesn't cost the earth to produce. But while the big picture shifts, there's plenty we can do right now in our own lives. Think about the 5 Rs of Sustainability. Refuse what you don't need. Reduce what you use. Reuse what you already have. Repurpose the things that still have life in them. And recycle whatever is left. Start with just one of those this week. Pick the easiest one. Then build from there. Small choices, made by millions of people, add up to something enormous. The music we love was born from a culture that respected the land. Let's honor that. Daniel Faigin emailed re: Android Shuffle Apps: "Marc: I primarily listen to music via my iPod Classic (extensive smart playlists, all on shuffle). But all my music (around 58,000 tracks), is on my Android phone, and there I used the Gone Mad Music Player. It can play the music downloaded to your device, and has a smart playlist equivalent to the iPod / iTunes capability. It's the backup for my iPod Classic. Just search for it on Google Play; it does require a small payment to support development and unlock full capabilities. Alas, fewer phone manufacturers are supporting an external memory card (critical when you have a lot of music) - - Samsung might at the lowest level, as well as Motorola. Other than that, you need more storage if you download music." Gershon commented on Patreon: "Sitting here in my favorite chair, listening to #754, two dogs at my feet, reading and sipping my evening tea I heard your commentary regarding our wayward President and feckless Congress. Thank you! You are on the right side of history. I appreciate this after the horrific week we've had. I am even prouder now to be a supporter and fan. Keep up the good work and make "good trouble."

Rena Priest is best known for her poetry. As Washington’s poet laureate between 2021 and 2023, she traveled around the state doing readings and spreading awareness of poetry. She was the first Indigenous poet to hold that role and is a member of the Lummi Nation. Now, she’s bringing her keen observations and sharp wit to non-fiction. She’s the author of a new collection of essays, titled Positively Uncivilized. In the book Priest explores the history of broken treaties, battles over fishing rights, and struggles with cultural erasure that compose the bedrock of the modern Coast Salish native experience. She also challenges the non-Native reader to experiment with perspective: for example, what if we maintained the kind of spiritual relationship with the natural world that put us in community with salmon, instead of above them? The title of the book itself speaks to the types of stories Priest tells. “Uncivilized” is a term that was, for generations, used to denigrate native people. But also one that had been reclaimed by Priest’s family and used in a playful way. Priest is reading at Third Place Books Ravenna on Monday September 29 at 7:00 pm. Meet Traver Boehm: Founder of the UNcivilized men's movement, former bodyguard to billionaires, TEDx speaker, and licensed acupuncturist who has spent 77 cumulative days in complete darkness retreats. After hitting rock bottom following divorce and business loss, Traver transformed his pain into purpose - spending 28 days in pitch-black isolation that fundamentally changed his relationship with death and masculinity. Now, after completing an unprecedented 49-day darkness sit, his new book "28 Days in Darkness" chronicles these profound journeys into the depths of the human psyche. What You'll Discover:Why complete darkness strips away every coping mechanism you rely on dailyHow Traver's mind "broke" around day 9 - and why this was necessary medicineThe difference between 3-day, 28-day, and 49-day darkness experiencesWhat pre-verbal trauma looks like when it surfaces after 6 weeks of isolationWhy grief became Traver's greatest teacher (and how to surrender to it)The moment he thought he had died - and what death actually felt likeEssential skills needed before attempting any darkness retreatHow to create intimacy with yourself in just 20 minutes weeklyTraver's journey from rock bottom to spiritual breakthrough reveals that our deepest healing often requires venturing into territories our minds desperately want to avoid. His unflinching honesty about the physical and psychological challenges - from hallucinations to pre-verbal trauma surfacing after weeks of isolation - offers both a sobering reality check and profound inspiration. This conversation will challenge your assumptions about what it means to truly know yourself and why the path to freedom might require temporary surrender of everything you think you control. In this episode of The Jimmy Rex Show, Jimmy sits down with Traver Boehm — founder of the Man Uncivilized movement, men's coach, and author of Man Uncivilized, Today I Rise, and his newest book 28 Days in Darkness. After divorce, miscarriage, and business collapse, Traver began a journey to rediscover who he was, leading to extreme self-discovery practices — including 28 days and later 49 days in complete darkness — to confront his deepest truths. They discuss men's struggles with disconnection from themselves, others, and something greater, and how distractions like alcohol, porn, and constant busyness keep them from facing life's big questions. Traver shares practical ways to reconnect, create a personal “user manual” for thriving, and remove numbing habits.Jimmy and Traver also explore heartbreak and divorce as opportunities for transformation through honesty, accountability, and intentional growth. From building the life you truly want to redefining masculinity, this episode offers raw, challenging, and inspiring guidance for men seeking purpose and clarity.
Kati Bird is the very first person to teach me about Shibari, the Japanese bondage system. She now travels the world leading workshops, working with couples and individuals and has zero apologies about a life lived way outside the box.We sit down and dive right into how Kati went from being a wilderness guide to becoming one of the most sought after Shibari teachers in the world. How she manages a life on the road and most importantly about the incredible ways she teaches people to connect deeply to themselves, navigate their traumas, and express themselves in ways they never thought possible, all with rope. This episode is about trust, human connection, and living a truly UNcivilized life.Cheers,Traver
Back for his second round on The UNcivilized Podcast, the man who trains Special Forces Operators on how to use chaos to their advantage and tap into their instinct and intuition. Don't worry, his work is applicable to all — even the school children he teaches his programs to.Angus Fletcher is the author of Primal Intelligence and a friend of ours at UNcivilized. In this conversation we dive into the future with AI, how to be harder to kill, and why having the ability to rapidly create a plan is the difference maker whether you're hunting down an enemy, trying to grow your company to seven figures, or get along with your partner. This is a fast paced episode filled with gems, so hang on to your hat!Cheers,Traver
Miles rote started his career as United States Marine, then became a Police Officer, then a Private Investigator, then a yoga teacher, and now runs one of the most successful book publishing companies in the world. Like me, he's also a giant AI dork. His life story is twisty, turny, and incredibly wild. We talk about choosing a path for your life, knowing when to make a hard pivot when your intuition tells you, why going all in is the only way to go — and stick around for the end of the episode when Miles openly shares about finding out the man he was told was his father, ended up not being so.This episode is about overcoming obstacles, dealing with pain, and living a truly UNcivilized life.Cheers,Traver
The Dean's List with Host Dean Bowen – Sometimes we want to make the path easy for those coming behind us, but in so doing, we are removing the availability of those lessons that they can only learn when the conditions of hardships are present. Parents who fit this mold used to be called helicopter parents - always hovering over their child to make sure things are perfect...
The worst thing that can happen to a fighter is that he becomes civilized—and the worst thing that can happen to a church is that it gets comfortable. In this passionate, transitional message from 1 Corinthians 9, Pastor Chris calls the church to a life of gospel grit - because the gospel is worth it. Drawing from Paul's imagery of athletic discipline and inspired by scenes from the Rocky films, this sermon is a charge to live with urgency, purpose, and discomfort for the sake of Christ.- Why running hard means living a life poured out for the gospel- What it truly means to live free—and how that freedom leads us to serve- Why comfort is the greatest danger to the church in our generation- How the Parable of the Talents (Matthew 25, The Message) speaks directly to playing not to lose- A powerful closing commission to take up the mission that no one else can carry but youIf you've ever felt like your faith has settled into safe routines, this message will shake you, encourage you, and remind you that you were never called to comfort. You were called to run.
In this episode I'll talk about how and why you need to get past the idea that people who don't live like you do or even want to, are supposed to understand you.If there's one thing that needs to be navigated in order to live a life outside of the box — it's being misunderstood. This comes from family, friends, and of course, perfect strangers who have internet access to you.Learning to work through what's different about you (these are good things) and owning the fact you can't have uncommon or UNcivilized outcomes while being celebrated by folks trapped in the matrix is a big deal. And on the other side of it is freedom. Please do me a favor and share this episode with one person in your life.Cheers,Traver
Anya and Nadia have helped lead our retreats in Montana for the past few years. On today's episode of Kalam Podcast Edgar speaks with the founder of Uncivilized Media, Salem Barahmeh. Uncivilized is a channel that tells stories about people and places that are unrepresented, silenced or erased. Very similar to what we do here at Kalam Podcast. Edgar first met Salem on a cold, rainy day in Stockholm several years ago. At the time, he was working with PIPD, the Palestinian Institute for Public Diplomacy. He was traveling the Western World, lobbying for the Palestinian cause with politicians, diplomats and grassroots organisers. Since then he has pivoted into storytelling and political education, catering largely to the masses on social media. And he's been very successful. We'll get back to Salem Barahmeh and his storytelling that connects stories of struggle from Northern Sweden to Palestine to Taiwan. If you enjoy Kalam Podcast and want to suppor the show, there is an excellent way to do so - by joining Klub Kalam on patreon. The Dean's List with Host Dean Bowen – In conversation with Dr. Jon Morey, we explore the idea of becoming more uncivilized to reconnect with our natural societal organization. Morey explains how civilization corrupts our inherent human processes, leading to oppression and anxiety. Through his program, Uncivilized Vitality, he offers insights on rediscovering self-sufficiency and achieving a serene, joyful life.
After coaching humans for over 20 years through the good times and the challenges of their lives, I know people and what helps us get past our blocks, our heartbreaks, and our limiting beliefs. In this solo episode I'll break down the six attributes I feel you need to either get through a hard time, or engage in a challenging endeavor like building a business, learning to surf, or creating the UNcivilized life of your dreams. In this fiery solo episode I break down The 4B Movement coming out of South Korea, The Passport Bro Movement here in the US, and the wildly needed UNcivilized Relationship Paradigm. This episode is going to upset a lot of folks because, well, I'm in support of both movements despite the massive implications they will have societally. And I see them both as canaries in the relationship coal mine indicative of massive changes that need to come forward. AND — at the end I outline a new way of relationship, one I feel is long overdue. Enjoy. Please do share this with one person in your life, or twenty. What a crazy month in the civilized world, huh? Who ever would have thought such juggernauts as Nickelodeon, P Diddy, AND Andrew Huberman would come to light for being toxic and horrible — at the same time. For us at UNcivilized, this is a sign that the civilized veil is falling, truth is emerging, and as men — it's time for us to deal with what's in our own shadowy closets. In this solo episode I talk about what I see and most importantly, how you can make positive changes in your own life because of it. Enjoy. An Instagram follower asked me the difference between aspects of Traditional Masculinity and our UNcivilized Masculinity and rather than write him back a novel, I decided to record this solo episode for you. In it, I jump right to the point and outline what's great about Traditional Masculinity and — what needed to be upgraded about it. Thus the creation of UNcivilized Masculinity. I outline what makes us different and why…key word — relationship. Enjoy. Please do share this with one person in your life, or twenty. Francis Weller has been an inspiration for me for years now. The way he speaks and shares his work around initiation and living a soulful life hits me in my core. It stops my frantic mind and makes me feel like the world is going to be okay…even if it may not be. In this episode I get to sit down with Francis and have a frank conversation about men, about getting in touch with our deeper parts, and with what we need to do to make sure we as a species don't got extinct. You know, light fluffy stuff. Enjoy. Please do share this with one person in your life, or twenty. Episode 193 is a deep dive into the changing landscape of masculinity and the challenges men face today. In this episode, you'll meet Traver Boehm, the founder of the UNcivilized Men's Movement, author of Man UNcivilized, host of the UNcivilized Podcast, and a two-time TEDx speaker. Traver's goal is to end the suffering in men — to end the suffering caused by men. He is dedicated to understanding how men think, what's behind their behavior, and, most importantly, their unique challenges in the modern landscape. In 2016, after losing a pregnancy, his marriage, and his business partnership all within weeks of each other, he created a radical year-long social experiment to answer the question, “Who am I as a man?” During that year, he lived alone in a pitch-black room for a month, sat among men nearing the end of their lives in hospice, and called all of his exes to ask where he was deficient as a man. It was also when he realized that he might be able to help other men answer the question for themselves, “Who am I as a man?” Drawing upon an eclectic background ranging from professional bodyguard and mixed martial arts to a Master's Degree in Traditional Chinese Medicine and meditation, he's helped men all over the world become UNcivilized as they wake up to the power of their hearts, the brilliance of their bodies, and the wisdom of their souls so they can blaze their own path. He does this through one-on-one coaching with men or women, couples coaching, and group mentorship. If you want to take risks and live boldly to create a fulfilling and meaningful life, you've got to listen to this episode!Key Takeaways:Grounded masculinity involves being physically strong, emotionally present, and having a sense of purpose. Men have core needs, including the need to feel seen, heard, and celebrated, as well as the need for a purpose beyond family. The concept of toxic masculinity oversimplifies the issues men face and can be harmful.Men should strive to be authentic and express themselves rather than conform to societal expectations. Integrity is crucial for men, aligning thoughts, words, and actions, leading to confidence and purpose. Fitness plays a significant role in masculinity, providing strength, capability, and safety. Meditation and presence are essential for men to cultivate self-awareness, improve relationships, and navigate the challenges of modern technology. A few months ago I was at breakfast with the great Duey Freeman, chewing on some bacon and talking about the future of the Nation. He asked me a million dollar question: “How do you now define an UNcivilized Man?” I answered, “Well, he's raw…he's real…” And Duey finished my sentence, “And he's relational.” In this short solo episode I breakdown what this means and how you can apply it in your life starting today. I'll give them to you here but you're still going to have to do the work yourself. It's an UNcivilized life for me. Forever. Enjoy and please share this with someone in your life. To celebrate the 200th episode of this podcast, I asked my good friend, Traver Boehm, to get weird and do something a bit different. I sent him a text asking him to think about a couple of random things he loves or is inspired by so we could talk about them. Neither of us knew what the other was bringing to the table. A surprising feast ensued. I've long loved the podcast conversations Tim Ferriss has with his pal, Kevin Rose, so I decided to emulate that here. This chat is informal and unpredictable. It's also filled with random stories, lots of laughter, and it's quite different than any other I've done before. Please let me know what you think. If you like it, perhaps I can invite more friends to have similar chats. And a huge and grateful THANK YOU to everyone who listens and shares the podcast. I appreciate you. _______________________________________ Traver Boehm is the author of the books Today I Rise and Man UNcivilized. It's the third and final week for my team to interview me. This week it's Erin, lovingly referred to as the Director of Traver (we'll explain that title in the podcast). Together we dove into what made and still makes Traver UNcivilized, and a few specific questions from a woman's perspective of how to connect with men. Our conversation perfectly rounds out this series and I hope you love it as much as I did. Cheers, Traver
It's week two for the Team at UNcivilized to interview me! This week it's Malina, our Director of Operations, and let's just say she isn't thrilled about speaking into a microphone. But like a typical member of the UNcivilized world, she showed up full stop. She's asked me some very deep questions, in typical Malina fashion, and I just love her for it. She made me think and she made me feel. Enjoy! Cheers, Traver
