This week, we welcome DJ Better Yet back into the fold. And holding it down, as usual, are DJs Hollywood and Mr. L'il T'okyo. Bands include: Condominium, Veronica Falls, Huff Stuff Magazine, Black Bug, Meat Wave, Love, MJ Lenderman, Flowertown, Straw Man Army, The Berries, and Algara. Go!
To round off Season 3 (yeah, I know!), we've got the fabulous Colleen Green.BREAKING NEWS: Colleen reveals all about what this means: ”Did I ever send your shirt? I think I did. But maybe I didn't. Sorry 'bout that”.Ah, seriously, Colleen is one of my fave artists. A natural born songwriter with the lo-fi buzz of The Strokes, the glorious three-power chord cool of Ramones and the effortless melodies of Veronica Falls. Her songs are funny yet intensely personal stories of her journey to become the best version of herself, a theme continued on her new record, Cool (to be released on 10 September 2021 and the follow up to 2015's I Want To Grow Up).Colleen has been living with an auto-immune condition since she was 24. I feel fatuous saying that this has changed her life - of course it has.Her thoughtfulness, humility, gratitude and resilience are hallmarks of her warm personality. She has made these changes work for her, not against her.Colleen's analogy of a phoenix is a vivid reminder of how our survival is often outside our control. I'm grateful that she talks so openly about it.I Wanna Jump Like Dee Dee is a music podcast that does music interviews differently. I'm Giles Sibbald and I'm talking to extraordinary musicians, DJ's and producers about how they use an experimental mindset in their lives to amplify their own creativity, pursue new challenges, overcome fears and bounce back from mistakes.- brought to you by Hey Sunday, the mothership of the experimental mindset™.Podcast logo and art by Tide Adesanya, Coppie and Paste
The Loft & The Weather Prophets special with Pete Astor in conversation with David Eastaugh Pete Astor was born in England, in 1960.The Loft formed in 1983, the band signing to Creation Records and releasing two singles, "Why Does the Rain" and "Up the Hill and Down the Slope". The band split at the Hammersmith Palais in 1985. Astor then formed The Weather Prophets, continuing to be managed by Creation founder, Alan McGee, and signing to his short-lived Elevation label under the auspice of WEA4 releasing the album Mayflower in 1987. Returning to Creation for Judges, Juries and Horsemen, the band split in 1989. Astor then embarked on a solo career with the albums Submarine (1990) and Zoo (1991) on Creation. Finding success in France, Astor moved to the Danceteria label to release Paradise (1992, as Peter Astor and the Holy Road), and God and Other Stories in 1992. After becoming disillusioned with the music business, he disappeared from view for a number of years, returning in the late 1990s with his Ellis Island Sound and The Wisdom of Harry projects, both releasing music on 7", 12" and 10"[5][6] for a variety of emerging independent labels such as Static Caravan Recordings,Wurlitzer Jukebox and Astor's own label, Faux Lux. The Wisdom of Harry eventually signed to Matador Records, while Ellis Island Sound, Astor's collaboration with David Sheppard, signed with Heavenly Recordings. In 2005, Astor released Hal's Eggs, a solo album including radical reworkings of folk standards on Static Caravan Recordings. At around the same time, Cherry Red released compilation albums featuring his work: The Weather Prophets' Blues Skies and Freerides (The Best Of, 1986–1989),Injury Time (Solo 89–93), a selection of solo work from his two Creation and Danceteria albums. The label also re-issued The Loft's Once More Round the Fair, a collection of their Creation recordings and session tracks. As well as reforming The Loft at this time for a limited number of shows, Astor continued to write, perform and release records with Ellis Island Sound on the Peace Frog label. The solo album, Songbox was released on the Second Language label in 2011, featuring an extra disc of cover versions of the albums' songs by Let's Wrestle, The Raincoats, Darren Hayman, Comet Gain, The Proper Ornaments, Mathew Sawyer, Dollboy and Piano Magic. He works as senior lecturer at the University of Westminster, where he teaches, researches and writes about music; in 2014, he published his study of Richard Hell and the Voidoids' Blank Generation, as part of Bloomsbury's 33⅓ series. At the beginning of 2015, Astor signed to Fortuna Pop, releasing the single "Mr Music", followed by an album, Spilt Milk, recorded with James Hoare of Ultimate Painting, Proper Ornaments, and Veronica Falls.

One would think after listening to DYNAMITE HEMORRHAGE RADIO #26 that there were a multitude of severely happening bands on the planet in late 2013, and you know, one might even be right. I've done my best to scout the hottest talent from across the globe the past two weeks, and have come up with 23 examples of loud, fast, hard, melodic, arty, dirty, gnarly rock and roll music from a bunch of youngsters and a few oldsters as well. New/active bands this time include ROACHCLIP; TRUE SONS OF THUNDER; a new 45 from VERONICA FALLS; LIFE STINKS; THE NOTS; ALLIGATOR; LA LUZ; SEX TIDE; SPRAY PAINT; PAMPERS; THE CLITS; SYNTHETIC ID; THE FIREWORKS and the STRAPPING FIELDHANDS. Jesus, you see what I mean? There's a sixteen-minute song and a couple of songs that clock in just over 1 minute. There are song of joy and songs of depression and pain. There are straight songs and angular songs. Let it be said for the record that there are only good songs.Track listing:ROACHCLIP - BungalowPAMPERS - NotVOX POP - You're My FavoriteTHE NOTS - Talk ShowMENTALLY ILL - Tumor BoySHARP BALLOONS - Genetic DisorderSALLY SKULL - BedellusVERONICA FALLS - Nobody ThereLA LUZ - All The TimeTHE FIREWORKS - With My HeartTALULAH GOSH - Testcard GirlTHE CLITS - Period PainsSPRAY PAINT - Ultimate UmpireTRUE SONS OF THUNDER - Black AstrologersPAMELA - Too Late (Blind)ALLIGATOR - CyclesSTRAPPING FIELDHANDS - Impossible To SayVENOM P. Temazo arrabalero en el nuevo trabajo de Nick Cave.

The first-quarter curriculum for October 21: --Scott and Bobby kick off a show with the fiasco that was the NFL trade deadline, and the show's resident Raider fan gets to weigh in on the Carson Palmer trade. Also, Scott's highly reluctant to give Mike Brown any praise for playing his poker hand well. --The trade deadline's failures are discussed for a moment, with the Lions' misfortune as a keen example. The first order of business is to suggest a better date. Also, other deals that could have been made but weren't get dragged out into the light. --The weather is starting to turn in Tennessee, and it's a prime time to discuss the NFL's cities and which ones have the best and worst weather. Featured music: "Come On Over" by Veronica Falls. Stick around at the end for a brief snippet of the track, and help the show out by purchasing the full download if you like it. Go to starr-rated.blogspot.com for links to buy. The second-quarter curriculum for October 21: --Mack Burke returns after a five-month sabbatical, and he gets an opportunity to vent on the trade deadline himself. The gist: "Won't someone think of Jason Campbell?" --The fellas ponder whether the Schwartz/Harbaugh dustup should go into the Octagon, and whether coaches need to be duty-bound to shake hands after a game. --Bryant Gumbel's comments about David Stern get played, and the fellas have a momentary chat on what Gumbel really meant. Perhaps surprisingly, there's not a lot of disagreement on the subject of Stern. --In Whodaman, Bobby touts a running back who stomped the indomitable Suh. Mack's Whodaman and Epic Fail are oddly one and the same. Scott gives respect to a guy who seriously reps his team in a pimped hearse. Featured music: "Miracle Worker" by SuperHeavy. The third-quarter curriculum for October 21: --4Q's first-ever in-studio guest, MTSU men's basketball coach Kermit Davis, stops in to talk about the early days of practice and the upcoming season. --The coach starts off weighing in on what the college game would look like with players like Kyrie Irving and Derrick Williams staying around instead of sitting out in the locked-out NBA. Scott and Coach Davis also discuss their eligibility rules of choice. --MTSU forward Torin Walker's eligibility status gets discussed, as well as a brief explanation of why he's having problems in the first place. --Forward LaRon Dendy's potential for postseason honors comes in for serious discussion. --Several candidates exist for the point guard position, and Scott asks (ahem) point blank who's in the lead. --The packed early-season schedule draws a look, and Coach Davis lays out the credentials of his team's opponents. The players will be disappointed to learn that there's no time for fun when the Blue Raiders head to Los Angeles. --Coach Davis identifies the team to beat in the Sun Belt for the 11-12 season. Also, a player who could dominate the Sun Belt gets discussed. --Scott and Coach Davis talk a little music on the way out. Featured music: "Standing On Higher Ground" by Leslie West featuring Billy Gibbons. The fourth-quarter curriculum for October 21: --Scott and Mack are able to discuss a little baseball, and there is a chat about what can be done to improve the World Series. --Baseball's calendar, which is about to become more crowded, catches some grief. --Nolan Ryan begins his approach toward Scott's pantheon of all-time favorite sports owners. --Scott lights the fuse and lets Mack rant for a minute on the Theo Epstein situation. --Between Theo and Rex, Mack's Epic Fail is well-covered. Scott's resides in Europe, with a team that didn't check with the neighbors before finding a sponsor. Featured music: "She Really Got to You" by Ivy.
