When you've been single for 13 years, “I'm fine” starts sounding a lot like “I've given up.” Kimberly was successful on paper, but she was quietly miserable off it. Between perimenopause, work burnout, and pandemic isolation, she'd convinced herself she was too busy (and too jaded) for love. Then she found Ready for Love, and everything shifted. She thought she was signing up to find love. Happily, she found herself in the process. In this episode, Kimberly gets raw about forgiving herself after an affair, dropping decades of shame, and learning what real emotional maturity looks like. She shares how doing the work helped her move cities, meet her partner (again), and launch her own consulting business with actual self-trust. Now she's living proof: self-love isn't a backup plan, it's the whole plan. Episode Highlights: Why independence can be emotional armor in disguise The real reason self-forgiveness changes everything What “doing the work” actually looks like when it sticks How loving yourself first changes your love life and your career The secret to attracting love that feels calm, not chaotic Episode Breakdown: 00:00 Finding Love by Loving Yourself First 00:22 13 Years Single and Ready for Change 05:53 Healing Shame and Rebuilding Self-Worth 07:58 How Attachment Styles Impact Relationships 11:40 Meeting Her Partner and Creating Healthy Love 16:02 From Self-Love to Career Confidence 17:50 Why Investing in Yourself Always Pays Off ✨ I'm Hilary Silver, LCSW, former psychotherapist turned master coach and founder of Ready for Love. Lorra found herself feeling lonely on Christmas when she stumbled upon a TikTok video suggesting that people could send holiday wishes to inmates. On a whim, she created a profile and sent a heartfelt "Merry Christmas" to a cellmate. Little did she know, that small gesture would change her life forever. As they began to communicate, a deep connection blossomed between them. Their conversations grew more meaningful, and before long, he proposed to her. They exchanged vows in a prison ceremony, marking the beginning of their unconventional love story. Despite the challenges of never having been intimate or experienced life outside prison together, their bond has only deepened. It's a fascinating tale of love, resilience, and hope—proving that connection can thrive even in the most unexpected circumstances. I'd love to hear more about their journey and the dreams they hold for the future! Follow: @heartlynrae @excusemyfriend @lorasophiee

They married a year later and now have a miracle kid. Lisa's cancer-free, living proof that life's got good surprises, even when it seems the darkest.
