Chirurgienne, patineuse, éditeur, pâtissier, leurs parcours singuliers racontent la France d'aujourd'hui, riche de ses talents et de ses diversités. Né(e)s ici ou venus d'ailleurs, ces femmes et ces hommes inspirent par leur engagement et leur réussite. Leurs portraits sont autant de modèles pour les générations futures. Dans ce quatrième épisode, le Gabonais Christian-Brice Ondo nous raconte comment à 51 ans il mène une carrière d'éditeur. Depuis 2021, il dirige sa propre maison d'édition, Obangame. À taille humaine. Sa particularité : éditer ses « coups de cœur » et surtout donner de la visibilité aux auteurs afro-descendants. Lunettes rivées sur le nez, cheveux coupés à ras, surtout ne vous plongez pas dans son regard qui dissimule un passé douloureux : « À trois mois, j'ai failli mourir à la naissance, lance-t-il de manière inattendue. J'ai eu une maladie très rare, j'avais des bassines de pus dans les poumons, donc pour me soigner j'ai été évacué très tôt en France. À chaque fois que je croisais des tantes ou des oncles, je ne comprenais pas pourquoi ils lançaient sur mon passage : Ah ! Voici le miraculé, il a failli mourir ». « Un enfant miraculé ! » dans le monde de l'édition À 51 ans, le Gabonais, Christian-Brice Ondo, avant d'embrasser le monde de l'édition, a eu une première vie : « Avec mon frère, on avait monté une maison de production pour réaliser des documentaires. Et j'ai rencontré l'éditeur camerounais Dieudonné Gnammankou, à la tête de Dagan éditions, il faisait la promotion d'une bande dessinée dédiée au célèbre footballeur Samuel Eto'o. J'ai eu un véritable coup de cœur pour cet homme qui est également historien ». Les coups de cœur et les coups de foudre semblent rythmer sa vie, c'est l'un des traits de la personnalité de Christian-Brice Ondo. Après sa rencontre avec l'éditeur et historien Dieudonné Gnammankou, il crée à taille humaine sa propre maison d'édition Obangame, en 2021. Obangame signifie en langue fon du Gabon : solidarité indéfectible. « Donc, à travers ce nom-là, j'ai voulu créer des liens entre les cultures à travers la littérature, en fait, c'est la touche un peu africaine de la maison d'édition », explique-t-il.  Donner de la visibilité aux auteurs afro-descendants Pour Christian-Brice Ondo, les auteurs africains, de manière générale, manquent de visibilité. « Ceux qui ont du talent, c'est très rare qu'on les publie dans les maisons d'édition traditionnelles, regrette-t-il. Il y en a quelques-uns qui réussissent à se faire éditer. Donc, je me suis dit pourquoi ne pas donner la chance à ces talents car il y a une forte demande également. Il y a en effet une diaspora noire, française et africaine qui vit à Paris. Paris, c'est un pôle culturel très important et ces lecteurs afro-descendants veulent lire des livres qui ressemblent à ce qu'ils vivent au quotidien, à leur culture, à leur univers. Mais il faut aussi que les livres soient de qualité et il faut que les auteurs soient aussi de qualité ». Le choix des auteurs ? Il se fait à travers des rencontres. « Ce sont des coups de cœur, moi, je ne cherche pas forcément des auteurs. Parce que je pars du principe que ce sont des rencontres, ce sont des coups de cœur. Et sur le plan technique, je fais des contrats à compte d'édition, c'est-à-dire que c'est moi qui prends en charge toute la fabrication du livre et je reverse à l'auteur des droits d'auteur. En fait, je prends des risques quand je décide d'éditer un auteur. Et une petite maison d'édition comme la mienne ne peut pas se permettre financièrement de publier beaucoup d'auteurs », précise l'éditeur. Il prend donc son temps pour choisir les auteurs qu'il souhaite éditer et ce sont les femmes qui dominent… C'est un peu sa fibre féministe. Et parmi elles : l'autrice sénégalaise Sokhna Ndao et son dernier roman, Catharsis.   « Je cherchais un éditeur et j'ai vu que sur son site internet il publiait des femmes noires, je me suis dit qu'il avait une sensibilité particulière pour la littérature féminine ou afro-féminine descendante. Donc, vu les thématiques abordées dans mon roman, je trouverais un écho chez lui ». Un roman engagé, explique l'autrice Sokhna Ndao, qui dénonce les violences faites aux femmes au Sénégal, les violences sexistes, les violences psychologiques, la toxicité des relations, des rapports à autrui. « Et si vous allez sur les réseaux sociaux, souligne-t-elle. Vous allez trouver énormément de hashtags portés par des Sénégalaises pour dénoncer ces violences. » Une rencontre inattendue « Ce qu'elle ne vous a pas dit, lance dans un sourire Christian-Brice Ondo, c'est qu'entre la lecture du manuscrit et notre échange, elle a disparu pendant un an, comme Cendrillon. Ce que j'ai beaucoup aimé chez Sokhna Ndao, ce sont les thématiques qu'elle dénonce dans ses livres, elle les porte aussi par sa voix. Et moi, j'aime les auteurs qui ont de la personnalité et qui assument les idées qu'ils véhiculent à travers leurs romans. » Christian-Brice Ondo est un homme de l'ombre, discret, qui s'est donné comme mission d'éditer de nouveaux talents de la littérature afro-descendante. LayerZero is de laag waar de meeste cryptobeleggers nooit aan denken, en tegelijk de laag waarlangs het meeste geld beweegt. Het bedrijf verbindt zo'n 160 blockchains met een communicatieprotocol, ongeveer zoals TCP/IP de verschillende systemen op internet met elkaar laat praten. Ivar Wiersma, head of EMEA, legt uit waarom dat nodig is: vier jaar geleden liep nog negentig procent van alle activiteit over Ethereum, nu is dat rond de vijfenvijftig procent en zit de rest verspreid over Solana, Base, Arbitrum en Canton. Wie zijn stablecoin of getokeniseerde fonds op één netwerk uitgeeft, mist dus de helft van de markt. Een bridge is het officieel niet, al zijn de meeste moderne bridges erop gebouwd. De oude generatie zette alle waarde vast in één slim contract, en dat werd een lokkertje voor hackers: er verdween meer dan twee miljard dollar via die route. Bij LayerZero wordt honderd dollar aan stablecoins op het ene netwerk vernietigd en op het andere opnieuw aangemaakt, met een verificatiestap ertussen die de uitgever zelf inricht. Er zijn meer dan vijftig verifiers om uit te kiezen, en banken en vermogensbeheerders zetten er vaak een eigen bij. Het verdienmodel is dubbel: een kleine marge op elke transactie, omdat LayerZero het gas op alle netwerken voor de gebruiker regelt, en een vergoeding van de blockchains die aangesloten willen zijn. Het protocol zelf is open source en gratis voor uitgevers. Volgens Wiersma loopt tachtig procent van alle dollarwaarde die tussen blockchains beweegt onder water via LayerZero, tien tot vijftien miljard dollar per maand, met Tether, PayPal, Ondo en Robinhood als klanten. Alleen USDC ontbreekt, want Circle bouwde vroeg zijn eigen oplossing. Daar komt nu een eigen blockchain bij, Zero, gericht op handel en afwikkeling. Wiersma noemt een miljoen transacties per seconde tegen een tienduizendste cent per stuk, waar Ethereum er vijf tot tien doet en Solana vijfduizend. Partners zijn de DTCC, de New York Stock Exchange met moederbedrijf ICE, en Citadel Securities. Het voorbeeld dat iedereen in de gaten houdt is Hyperliquid, dat in 2025 met vijftien mensen 880 miljoen dollar operationele winst maakte. Ook het incident bij KelpDAO komt langs. Die klant had de beveiliging teruggezet naar één verifier, die werd gekraakt, en er verdween restaked ether.
