This week, strategy session with the Disneyland President shed some light on upcoming changes, for better, and some worse, new collectables are coming soon to celebrate the 70th, changes to the Disneyland App to help locate merchandise, we continue our talk with Philander, and more! Please support the show if you can by going to https://www.dlweekly.net/support/. Check out all of our current partners and exclusive discounts at https://www.dlweekly.net/promos. News: The President of the Disneyland Resort Thomas Mazloum held some strategy sessions with outlets like MiceChat about upcoming changes and what is going on around the resort. This was an opportunity to talk directly to the fan base about decisions, and give a glimpse of what is coming. One of the items was the reservation system at Disneyland. It is not going anywhere for the moment as it helps the resort better manage attendance patterns and staffing. However, the 11am park hopping restriction will be going away soon. Also, Monsters, Inc.: Mike and Sully to the Rescue is delaying closing until sometime next year. – https://www.micechat.com/432196-disneyland-update-entertainment-gaps-construction-reveals-big-changes-ahead/ Moving away from the news to the philosophy that Thomas brings to the resort. A visit to the resort has become expensive, and, at times, overly complex. His team is working on ways to simplify the experience, and make visiting less expensive, especially for young families. Ride reliability is also being addressed. Maintenance windows are expanding, work is being made on supply chains, and downtime is being examined and addressed. They calculated that 1.5 million more ride experiences happened because of these changes. – https://www.micechat.com/432196-disneyland-update-entertainment-gaps-construction-reveals-big-changes-ahead/ Cast members were also discussed at the sessions. About 60% of the current cast was hired after the 2020 closures. Training was shortened, Traditions, the training session for new cast, was also simplified and made partially virtual. Focus was on safety protocols and hiring quickly, and not as much on guest relations. Thomas is working to correct this and expanding training again. Leadership is going through retraining, identifying issues and clarifying expectations. This is resulting in the culture being rebuilt, but it will take time. – https://www.micechat.com/432196-disneyland-update-entertainment-gaps-construction-reveals-big-changes-ahead/ Entertainment was also discussed. Thomas supports Fantasmic!, but did not commit to restoring Murphy. No further plans on the future of the Hyperion, Golden Horseshoe, Fantasyland Theatre, or any other entertainment was discussed. What could throw a wrench into all of this is Josh D'Amaro moving up to CEO, leaving the parks chair position vacant. Thomas might be a good candidate to fill that, which means Disneyland could be getting another leader soon. – https://www.micechat.com/432196-disneyland-update-entertainment-gaps-construction-reveals-big-changes-ahead/ A new way to celebrate Disneyland and have some new collectable keepsakes is coming on February 26th. The Topps Disneyland 70th Anniversary Collection will feature attractions, characters, food, and more into collectable cards. A limited group of cards will only be available at Disneyland and online at DisneyStore.com. There are rare relic cards that have pieces of vintage Disneyland tickets, Disney Dollars, pieces of cast member costumes, and more. There are also Talent Autograph cards featuring autographs from voice talent, and other well-known faces and voices of attractions. There is a rare 1 of 1 card that can be redeemed for a Disneyland prize package. – https://disneyparksblog.com/products/new-topps-disneyland-70th-anniversary-trading-cards/ Using the Disneyland App to locate and purchase merchandise, and mobile order food is getting more features. Guests can now use the “find merchandise” feature to look for Lunar New Year items. The feature will show what locations have certain items in stock, without having to visit each location and look. There is also a test happening at the Golden Horseshoe where Stage Door Cafe is mobile order only, and the Golden Horseshoe bar inside is standby only. – https://www.disneyfoodblog.com/2026/02/18/this-new-disneyland-app-feature-could-change-everything/#more-1107042 https://www.micechat.com/432196-disneyland-update-entertainment-gaps-construction-reveals-big-changes-ahead/ The old FastPass distribution area across from Guardians of the Galaxy: Mission Breakout! has a new permit filed, giving some indication of what is happening there. The permit is asking for a “change of use” from a shade structure to an outdoor eating area with new joists and electrical. – https://www.disneyfoodblog.com/2026/02/21/disneyland-officially-demolishes-fastpass-structure-and-were-still-crying/#more-1107900 SnackChat: Disney California Adventure Food & Wine Festival Foodie Guide – https://disneyparksblog.com/dlr/disney-eats-disney-california-adventure-food-and-wine-festival-foodie-guide-2026/ Discussion Topic: Epic Universe with theme park fan and Disney Cast Member Philander Hosted by Simplecast, an AdsWizz company. Danielle goes back to her roots with a recap of the 2013 Korean drama I Hear Your Voice (너의 목소리가 들려), which is ostensibly about a teen who can hear your inside voice. Or possibly a lawyer who can hear the metaphorical voice of justice. You decide. Either way, we've got a mind-reading law drama! Which is everything Sam always wanted in life, if he'd ever admit to wanting Danielle to recap another kdrama. Anyway, after young Soo-ha sees his father get murdered in front of him and somehow manages to get a mind-reading superpower out of the deal, we jump ahead ten years where now in his final year of high school, he's been chasing after every woman with black hair in Korea trying to find the sole legitimate witness to the crime who helped send the murderer to jail. Apparently his seeing the murder didn't count. Meanwhile, Hye-sung (the sole legitimate witness) has grown up and become an apathetic lawyer, shedding her old habits of telling the truth, standing up for what she believes in, and helping the downtrodden. Law seems like a perfectly reasonable career to have gone into. No notes. Luckily, Soo-ha finally stumbles upon her when she's hired (for…reasons) as a public defender, and though she's excited to continue her apathy at a higher pay scale, he's there to show her the error of her ways. Mostly by mind-reading everyone at her trials to help her win. Which is great timing, because Soo-ha's friend is up for attempted murder and needs a public defender. If you ever wondered what would happen in a society where you're innocent until proven guilty unless you're guilty until proven innocent and have a 1% chance of freedom, join us for this multi-part saga; Danielle's Hyperion, if you will. In what promises to be a delightful romp that makes you question everything you ever knew about the Korean justice system (which, for us, is nothing), and, honestly, mind-reading.
Episode: S05E42 — Wednesday, February 18, 2026 Hosts: Anna & Avery Network: Bitesz.com Podcast Network In today's episode of Astronomy Daily, Anna and Avery cover six unmissable stories from across the cosmos. Here's what we're talking about in S05E42: 1. Artemis II Wet Dress Rehearsal Round Two NASA begins fuelling the SLS moon rocket tomorrow (Feb 19) for a second critical practice countdown. Engineers have replaced two seals and a filter after hydrogen leaks forced the February launch window to be abandoned. A clean test is required before NASA will commit to a launch date — currently no earlier than March 6. The four-person crew includes Victor Glover, Christina Koch, and Jeremy Hansen, each of whom will make history on the flight. 2. Moon Occults Mercury Tonight — Plus a Ganymede Transit Tonight, February 18, a thin crescent Moon passes so close to Mercury that observers in Arizona, New Mexico, Texas, Louisiana, Mississippi, and Georgia will see the Moon hide Mercury in a rare occultation. For everyone else, a stunning close conjunction is visible in the western sky just after sunset. Simultaneously, Jupiter's moon Ganymede transits the gas giant's face through the night. Two events, one evening. 3. Ariane 6 Launches Amazon Kuiper Satellites Europe's most powerful Ariane 6 configuration successfully launched 32 satellites for Amazon's Project Kuiper broadband constellation today — a direct competitor to SpaceX's Starlink. The launch highlights both the commercial ambitions of Amazon's internet satellite programme and the ongoing resurgence of European launch capability. 4. 3I/ATLAS Update: JUICE Data Downlinking Now ESA's JUICE spacecraft is currently transmitting data it collected on interstellar comet 3I/ATLAS back to Earth — the downlink window runs February 18–20. If successful, this would be the closest-ever spacecraft observations of an interstellar object. Meanwhile, 3I/ATLAS heads toward a close Jupiter flyby in March that may trigger fresh outbursts. 5. How Titan Formed — And Why Saturn Has Rings New research from the SETI Institute proposes a single ancient catastrophe that explains multiple Saturn mysteries at once: a moon called proto-Hyperion collided with proto-Titan about 400 million years ago. The merger debris re-accreted into Saturn's inner moons and left behind the iconic ring system. The hypothesis also explains Saturn's unusual axial tilt, Iapetus's orbital inclination, and the surprising youth of Titan's surface. 6. Russia's 30-Day Mars Engine Rosatom's Troitsk Institute is ground-testing a nuclear-powered magnetoplasma engine that its developers claim could reach Mars in 30 days — compared to 8 months for chemical rockets. With a plasma exhaust velocity of 100 km/s, the system is part of a global race toward deep-space plasma propulsion also being pursued by NASA's VASIMR programme and Chinese researchers. A flight prototype is targeted for 2030. Follow & Connect

Dans un article à paraître dans Planetary Science Journal, une équipe de chercheurs montrent grâce à des simulations que Hypérion serait le résultat d'une collision spectaculaire entre Titan et une lune ancienne suite à une déstabilisation orbitale. We continue our dive into Jonathan Hickman's Avengers saga with Avengers #35 and New Avengers #24 (2014), as the truth finally comes out — the universe is dying, and Earth is the cause. In Avengers #35, stars go dark and cosmic forces move toward Earth while Sunspot begins assembling a new Avengers team, bringing together fractured heroes like Hyperion, Nightmask, Starbrand, and a broken Thor.In New Avengers #24, the Cabal spirals out of control. Namor turns to Doctor Doom and is rejected, Professor X is forced to beg Thanos for death, and Wakanda's last stand ends in devastating sacrifice. Behind it all, Doom begins quietly building a plan tied to the Multiverse and the Molecule Man.This is Hickman at his bleakest — cosmic collapse, impossible choices, and heroes crossing lines they can't return from.
We find out what Allan's been doing since a crippling recession brought Hyperion's operation to a halt in 1990. Allan takes us back to his childhood in Gravesend near Warialda when radio was a way of life to country people. He fell in love with the theatre of racing, the day he listened to the broadcast of the 1956 Melbourne Cup. He talks of school days in Inverell and his first job at the Valuer General's Department in Sydney. A job transfer to Moree led him to a friendship with Terry Mulhall, destined to become his business partner in later years. Allan reflects on the creation of Hyperion Thoroughbreds and the concept of forming larger syndicates than those offered by predecessors. He recalls the creation of the famous black and pink silks which signalled the emerging popularity of syndication. He reflects on the tough guidelines introduced by the Corporate Affairs Commission in the 1970's. Allan looks back on the extensive methods of communication necessary to keep hundreds of owners informed about their horses. He acknowledges some of the better horses to keep the Hyperion banner flying, beginning with the cheap Dubbo sale graduate Prince Clarendon. Allan pays a special tribute to the evergreen Targlish, almost certainly the best horse to represent the company. The remarkable gelding raced 109 times for 17 wins and 31 placings. He reflects on the ground breaking idea of purchasing a horse to race in America for Australian owners. He pays tribute to So Vague who won 5 races in the USA before being brought to Australia. He later won stakes races in Melbourne for Colin Hayes. Allan acknowledges the devotion of some special trainers who gave great service to Hyperion Thoroughbreds. He pays a special tribute to the veteran jockey who rode many winners in the Hyperion colours and frequently helped out behind the scenes. Allan reflects on the inevitable winding down of the 16 year old company when the recession started to bite. Hyperion was one of hundreds of businesses to be brought to their knees. The last of the horses were placed according to the wishes of their owners, and a great era had come to an end. It was a tough day for old mates Gainey and Mulhall.
White Castle steam-griddle station... ambience. The perspective of this week's episode is near the burger steaming station (if you're curious how that operation goes, let Double Dare's Marc Summers walk you through it). And not to worry — you can sleep at this steaming station; no one is worried about what you're doing. And BTW, this isn't sanctioned or intended to be an ad. I'm just a fan and would love to imagine myself within arm's length of those steamy sliders. I have a bit of a White Castle problem: I have the White Castle Pumas, I'm usually a sack of ten and a Cherry Coke (no fries) — if I were hungry enough to add fries at any other fast-food spot, I'm spending that hunger on another sack of ten.And as a programming note: if the White Castle Corporation sends me a cease-and-desist, this description will instead be geared toward the oddly shaped meatloaf burgers my father would make, stuffed with Bac-Os, mushrooms, breadcrumbs, and onions. The patties were so oddly shaped, if they were in orbit they would be confused with Saturn's moon, Hyperion. One of the most notorious of these family “burger nights” ended with us watching a VHS of my mother at work in the cath lab. Had to wait until the end because she said something funny. Aside from the occasional flying streams of blood, it was hella boring.Until then — we are boosting the Castle for free. And I have to think that the oft-trod subject of “Where the hell are they?” adds to their nostalgic appeal — at least for those of us who know there are a bunch in New Jersey, but we're not quite sure where. I swear the White Castles of New Jersey operate in the Doctor Who universe. White Castles only ever appear like, “Surprise *****! I'm in Ledgewood now!” And then maybe it's not there next time because… TARDIS perception filter. And I haven't seen the Dude, Where's My White Castle? movie, so I could just be describing the plot of that. It's a thread that runs through all of us. No matter where we as a species go — like, we could be going into space — we still somehow need to drive through New Jersey first (and hopefully near a food exit with a Castle logo).I was on a road trip with a buddy in '09, and White Castle was the “food exit” around Perth Amboy. I nudged him: “White Castle, man — let's go.”“Nah, man,” he said. “There'll be one up there. Don't worry.” My buddy never liked leaving the highways in NJ for local roads. I suspected the lack of legal left turns spited him somehow. But I countered with a pre-I-told-you-so — like, “If you see a White Castle, even if you're not hungry, you go. It doesn't matter how New Jersey you think that New Jersey town is — you can't count on White Castle being there.”Parsippany burned us, and we ate Burger King or some ****.
"You're constantly asking lean, open, neutral questions that start broad and then narrow, and you're asking more lean, open, neutral questions based on their answers. When you do that, it tells the subjects that you're actually listening to them very intensely, and you're asking questions based on the things that they say. And that accelerates trust and intimacy, I think, in a better way than kind of betting on your personality," says Seth Wickersham, the bestselling author of American Kings: A Biography of the Quarterback and an ESPN.com senior writer.Seth Wickersham is back. He is an ESPN.com senior writer, investigative reporter, the NYT best-selling author of It's Better to Be Feared and, most recently, his best selling American Kings: A Biography of the Quarterback, it's published by Hyperion. We had a tight window to get this interview done. It was 30 minutes and after the edit it was closer to 25. He was gassed. I think he did this as a favor since I'd been on his ass since July about this book. Well, mainly on his publicists' asses, then I had to go over their heads. Sidebar: sometimes I think tight interviews are GREAT. Tony the Tiger level great. You can't cover quite as much ground and get into the granularity of certain things, but there's still so many great takeaways from this episode even though it's half as long as the usual. Seth talks about: Getting to the heart of the matter Interviewing vs. conversations, and how he bristles at the “conversation” angle Establishing trust Writing out questions, but being OK with deviating How doing all this book promotion is just pennies in the bank His relationship to quarterbacking How he vetted the main quarterbacks he featured in American Kings And how the quarterback is a vector for American ambitionSeth is one of the good guys. You can't say that about everyone. He's a heavy hitter, he's steady in the pocket, and his eyes are always downfield.Order The Front RunnerNewsletter: Rage Against the AlgorithmWelcome to Pitch ClubShow notes: brendanomeara.com

Send us a textIn this week's episode, we get into the Fed's 25 basis point rate cut, Powell's chaotic press conference before diving into Meta's creative data center financing which is a lesson on project financing and lease accounting, and finally the growing blur between public and private credit. The Fed's October meeting delivered the expected 25 bps cut but Powell's tone afterward left markets rattled. While announcing a pause in quantitative tightening, he hinted that December isn't a done deal, sparking confusion and volatility. Jen breaks down the mechanics behind QT, the Fed's balance sheet strategy, and why even subtle changes in how they handle T-bill reinvestments could ripple across the yield curve. Then we shift to earnings season and Meta's fascinating case study in project finance. Their $30 billion Hyperion data center project with Blue Owl blends corporate finance, lease accounting, and private credit innovation, raising questions about off-balance-sheet leverage, credit spreads, and who really wins in these structures. We wrap with thoughts on how every firm on Wall Street is morphing into everything else—private credit arms at hedge funds, PE firms doing lending, and why that might both dilute and amplify systemic risk. All that, plus Halloween costumes, pumpkin parades, and the realities of parenting in chaos. For 20% off Deleteme, use the code TWSS or click the link HERE! This week on Autonomy Markets, Grayson Brulte and Walter Piecyk discuss NVIDIA's ever expanding autonomy ambitions and the fracturing relationship between Waymo and Uber, which may signal the end of one of the industry's most-watched partnerships. Jensen Huang's latest GTC announcements further signaled that NVIDIA is moving beyond supplying compute to potentially building their own full autonomy stack and licensing it. Grayson and Walt trace this shift back to the early days NVIDIA's automotive division and the evolution of its Hyperion platform, which is now positioned not only to power OEMs but also to compete directly with the very companies that rely on its GPUs to enable autonomous driving systems. While NVIDIA appears poised to compete with its customers, Waymo and Uber's partnership is showing signs of unraveling after Uber announced plans to deploy Lucid/Nuro autonomous vehicles in San Francisco next year, directly challenging Waymo on in their home market.Grayson likens the move to “divorce court,” raising questions about how the companies will divide the Austin and Atlanta markets, where Waymo currently operates exclusively on Uber's platform. The episode closes with updates on Aurora's strategic pivot and the Foreign Autonomy Desk, covering Baidu's expansion in Hong Kong, Uber's European ambitions, and continued progress in Tesla's FSD rollout.Episode Chapters0:00 NVIDIA's Autonomy Ambitions 7:13 Waymo & Uber's Fracturing Relationship9:35 Nuro's Upcoming Launch on Uber in San Francisco 11:51 Gemini is Coming to Waymo14:05 Boston's Autonomous Vehicle Blunder15:43 Seattle's Challenging Political Environment 17:34 Political Coalitions 19:36 Aurora's Pivot25:32 Tesla Robotaxi / FSD 14 Updates30:04 Foreign Autonomy Desk33:08 Next WeekRecorded on Thursday, October 30, 2025--------About The Road to AutonomyThe Road to Autonomy provides market intelligence and strategic advisory services to institutional investors and companies, delivering insights needed to stay ahead of emerging trends in the autonomy economy™.
