Parce que oui, je vais vous parler de musique aujourd'hui. Et parler de musique sans vous faire écouter les chanteurs que je vais citer, c'est un peu comme parler d'un plat sans vous en donner la recette ou sans vous faire goûter… Quoique… enfin, ça m'est déjà arrivé de vous parler de bouffe (la bouffe, c'est la nourriture, ce qu'on mange) sans vous donner la recette. Je vais vous parler de musique cette semaine parce que samedi dernier, le 11 février, c'était la cérémonie des Victoires de la Musique. Et c'est quoi les Victoires de la Musique ? Et bien, imaginez les Grammy Awards français. Oui, nous aussi, on a des récompenses pour les musiciens, les chanteurs, les chanteuses. Et cette année, c'était la 37ème édition - n'imaginez même pas une seconde que je savais ça, je ne suis pas du tout experte sur le sujet et donc je ne savais évidemment pas qu'on en était déjà là. Moi, bêtement, j'aurais dit la 20ème édition, mais bon je ne suis pas une référence. Loin de là. Pourquoi ? Et bien, parce qu'en général je ne suis pas trop ces soirées. (Quand je dis que je ne suis pas, ce n'est pas le verbe “être” au présent, c'est le verbe “suivre” - je sais, c'est déroutant, surprenant). Donc, c'est vrai que je ne regarde pas vraiment ce genre de programmes à la télé. Mais voilà, cette année, c'est un peu différent parce que mes deux ados (mes enfants, qui sont adolescents) voulaient regarder la cérémonie, et certains de mes jeunes étudiants m'ont demandé d'étudier des chansons des nominés. Les nominés, c'est comme ça qu'on appelle les artistes qui ont été sélectionnés pour une récompense - ici, les Victoires de la Musique. Suite à la demande de mes étudiants, on a parlé de musique en cours, et des goûts en général. C'était très intéressant de comprendre le mécanisme - je veux dire par là comment chacun d'entre eux (enfin, je devrais dire “chacun d'entre nous” parce qu'au final, je ne suis pas différente d'eux) - donc comment chacun d'entre nous choisit les chanteurs et chanteuses qu'on écoute. Quand je propose à mes étudiants de plus de 60 ans des chansons d'aujourd'hui, ou qui sont sorties au 21ème siècle, c'est souvent moyennement apprécié. Cela ne veut pas dire que ces artistes ne sont pas bons, mais mes étudiants sont restés sur les grands noms de la chanson française et ont apparemment du mal à s'adapter aux nouveautés de la musique. Donc ils me demandent Brel, Brassens, Edith Piaf, Aznavour, Yves Montand. Les autres, un peu plus jeunes, aiment aussi Joe Dassin, Michel Fugain (enfin, surtout sa chanson très connue “Belle histoire”), France Gall aussi. Et en fait, c'est parce qu'ils entendent régulièrement ces chansons à la radio dans leur pays. Donc ça leur est familier. En cours de français, c'est difficile de satisfaire tous mes jeunes étudiants parce qu'ils ont des goûts très éclectiques - ça veut dire très divers, ils n'écoutent pas un genre unique de musique. Donc il y en a toujours quelques-uns qui ne vont pas du tout apprécier la leçon. Ou alors ils me demandent du rap français - parce que cela semble faire l'unanimité aujourd'hui. Mais c'est compliqué, le rap, dans toutes les langues. En général le rythme est rapide, les paroles sont en argot, il y a beaucoup de références culturelles et sociales. Bref - c'est une horreur pour les profs de français :-) Je plaisante… Cela dit, je leur fais parfois écouter des chansons comme ça, sans exercice particulier, juste pour le plaisir de découvrir un artiste. Il y a toujours un étudiant qui veut étudier les paroles - les paroles, c'est le texte de la chanson. Et moi, je lui explique qu'on ne doit pas toujours comprendre chaque mot pour apprécier une chanson ou un artiste. Aimer la musique, ça passe aussi par la mélodie, le rythme, la voix, les émotions, l'énergie. Non ? En fait, si j'y réfléchis bien, ce n'est pas une mauvaise chose si mes enfants m'ont obligée, entre guillemets, à regarder la cérémonie des Victoires de la Musique. Les guillemets, c'est ce petit signe qu'on met avant et après un mot ou un groupe de mots, pour le mettre en valeur, le distinguer. Mais l'expression “entre guillemets” veut dire soit-disant, quelque chose qu'on prétend. Ici, la vérité est que mes enfants ne m'ont pas obligée à regarder, forcée à regarder, mise de force devant la télé. C'est une façon de parler. Bref… Regarder les Victoires de la Musique m'a obligée, ou plutôt encouragée à m'intéresser à la chanson française actuelle, de ces dernières années. Et je crois que c'est une bonne chose, surtout que… Je vais être honnête avec vous, parmi tous les artistes mentionnés, cités dans cette cérémonie, le seul qui me parle vraiment - je veux dire le seul que je connais vraiment, dont je connais des chansons, que je peux vraiment chanter, au moins les refrains - et bien c'est Jacques Dutronc. Et il fait partie des artistes de cette cérémonie parce qu'il a reçu le Victoire d'honneur. Alors Jacques Dutronc, ce n'est pas ce qu'on peut appeler un artiste de la nouvelle génération… vraiment pas ! Il chante depuis les années 60. Je crois qu'il se produit encore, qu'il donne encore des concerts… mais bon, vous comprenez surtout que c'est un artiste de l'époque de mes parents ! Il doit d'ailleurs avoir l'âge de mes parents, et moi, j'ai grandi en écoutant ses chansons. Mes enfants savent de qui il s'agit, qui est Jacques Dutronc, parce qu'on entend son nom, ses chansons à la radio, mais pas plus. Moi, c'est un peu la même chose avec les jeunes artistes nominés cette année. Je veux dire par là que j'ai entendu parler de certains d'entre eux, de certains de ces artistes, et j'ai même probablement entendu leurs chansons à la radio, mais pas plus que ça. Ça ne veut pas dire que ce ne sont pas de bons chanteurs, pas du tout, mais je ne suis pas vraiment au goût du jour, donc dans le style actuel. Je me demande si ce n'est pas normal, au fond. Si ce n'est pas logique que les parents et leurs enfants n'écoutent pas le même genre de musique. Après tout, quand les enfants sont adolescents, ils sont surtout influencés par leurs copains, par leur environnement social. Et j'imagine même qu'ils ont une certaine envie de se démarquer de leurs parents. (se démarquer de quelqu'un, ça veut dire prendre ses distances par rapport à lui, se distinguer de lui). Cela dit, quand j'étais jeune, j'ai beaucoup entendu la musique qu'écoutaient mes parents. Que j'aime ou non, elle était là. En musique de fond. Je ne pourrais pas dire la même chose de mes enfants. Je crois que c'est dû à la façon dont on consomme la musique aujourd'hui. Je veux dire qu'aujourd'hui on écoute de la musique principalement sur YouTube, sur son portable, avec des écouteurs. Je ne sais pas si c'est vrai pour vous aussi, mais c'est le cas pour mes enfants… Et aussi pour moi. Finalement, c'est assez rare d'avoir de la musique à plein volume à la maison. Ou alors c'est que je suis toute seule, ou avec mon mari. Mais quand on est en famille, c'est vraiment très rare et ça ne dure pas longtemps. Le plus gros problème, c'est dans la voiture, et surtout quand on fait de longs trajets, c'est-à-dire quand la route est longue. Parce qu'en général, les stations de radio qu'on aime, mon mari et moi, ne plaisent pas beaucoup aux enfants. L'éternel conflit parents-ados (adolescents). Pour en revenir à nos Victoires de la Musique, c'était donc samedi dernier. Évidemment, j'ai attendu d'avoir les résultats pour enregistrer cet épisode. Et donc les voici : Orelsan a été sacré - ça veut dire qu'il a remporté le titre d'artiste masculin de l'année et Clara Luciani celui d'artiste féminine de l'année. La révélation féminine de l'année est Barbara Pravi, et la révélation masculine Terrenoire. Si vous habitez en dehors de la France, ou si vous êtes de mon âge, je suppose que ça ne vous dit RIEN du tout. Et il n'y a pas de honte à ça ! Mais, cela ne veut pas dire que vous ne devriez pas vous y intéresser. Après tout, la chanteuse Zaz a reçu deux fois le prix d'artiste féminine de l'année, et vous connaissez Zaz, n'est-ce pas ? Ah non, ne me dites pas que vous ne connaissez pas Zaz !! Attendez… si ça ne vous dit rien, arrêtez tout de suite cet épisode - non, non, je ne rigole pas. Arrêtez, mettez cet épisode sur pause, si si, je vous en donne l'autorisation, exceptionnellement, allez sur Youtube, cherchez “Zaz je veux” et on se retrouve à la fin de la chanson, dans trois minutes. Alors, Zaz ? Vous en pensez quoi ? Si vous n'aimez pas vraiment, ce n'est pas grave. Vous avez juste “perdu” trois minutes de votre temps - et mon estime… Je rigole… Si vous aimez bien le style, je vous invite à écouter d'autres titres. Mais attention, vous allez peut-être tomber amoureux d'elle, comme l'un de mes étudiants ! Il est devenu fan ! Elle a un peu le même style qu'Edith Piaf dans ses premières chansons, non ? Et d'ailleurs, elle a sorti une excellente version de la vie en rose d'Edith Piaf. Ah, au fait… Comme j'ai regardé la cérémonie à la télé avec mes enfants, j'ai découvert une nouvelle catégorie - enfin, elle existe peut-être déjà depuis quelques années mais c'est nouveau pour moi : l'album le plus streamé. Oui oui, vous avez bien entendu - “streamé”, en anglais. Avant, on parlait de l'album avec le plus de ventes, non ? Incroyable comme le temps change. On est à une autre époque. Plus d'albums vendus, plus de CDs (ne parlons pas des cassettes - j'ai l'impression d'être super vieille dès que j'y fais référence). Aujourd'hui tout se passe sur Internet. C'est d'ailleurs comme ça qu'a commencé Orelsan, l'artiste de l'année. Sur Internet. Oui, il a mis ses premiers morceaux, ses premiers titres sur Internet. Orelsan, c'est un jeune rappeur qui pratique souvent la provocation, et parle dans ses textes des grands thèmes de la nouvelle génération, Internet, les relations amoureuses. Si vous aimez le rap, je vous le conseille. Et l'artiste féminine de l'année, Clara Luciani…. Eh bien, Mélanie, ma fille, m'a dit qu'elle a déjà remporté ce même titre il y a deux ans. Elle, elle s'inspire plutôt de la musique des années 60, Françoise Hardy, Serge Gainsbourg, si ça vous dit quelque chose. De toute façon, je vous mets les liens dans le descriptif de l'épisode, comme ça vous pourrez vous faire une idée par vous-même. Donc en fait, c'est quoi, l'intérêt de ce genre de cérémonies ? Pour moi, c'est le fait qu'on découvre des artistes qu'on ne connaît pas, notamment les nominés pour la catégorie “révélation de l'année”. Parce qu'on entend certainement moins leurs chansons à la radio, qu'on les voit moins à la télé. Et donc c'est l'occasion d'aller écouter quelques morceaux sur Youtube - et plus si on aime. Ça permet aussi de les encourager et de les aider au début de leur carrière. Pour vous, chers auditeurs étrangers, c'est l'occasion d'entendre des chansons en français, et donc de vous faire plaisir tout en pratiquant la langue. Mais les Victoires de la Musique, ça ne va certainement pas changer vos chanteurs et chanteuses préférés. Ce n'est pas parce qu'un artiste reçoit un prix que tout le monde doit l'aimer. Ce qui est beau, dans la musique, comme dans l'art en général, c'est qu'il y a tellement de styles différents que tout le monde peut trouver ce qui lui plaît. On récompense donc le meilleur film français de l'année, le meilleur acteur, la meilleure actrice, le meilleur scénario etc etc. Et comme vous connaissez certainement les Oscars, et savez autant que moi que le meilleur film n'est pas toujours votre préféré, c'est pareil en France. Je ne veux pas dire que les acteurs nommés n'ont pas été bons, bien entendu. Mais ils ne sont tout simplement pas toujours nos favoris. Et c'est d'ailleurs très bien comme ça. Après tout, il faut de tout pour faire un monde !
#selfhealersdiaries Every so often I notice someone struggling in their relationship to get over a break up and seeking letting go or detachment (Stoicism based) recommendations. I found out the best way to create a response based on Stoicism is as follows. Use the Stoic Rules 1. The underpinning rule I feel for all of them is the dichotomy of control. It helps us create a quality life when we practice acceptance. We focus on things within our control and let go of things outside our control. When you prioritise internal locus of control, you also respect other's choices and freedom. This is because you value your own freedom and recognise other's feel the same. 2. Show up as the person you would like to date. Love yourself and others as you would like to be loved. You set an example of how you would be loved. Would you date yourself and live your life with you? Why? 3. Be mindful of what you say, do, think and feel. Learn to lean into your sensations, and take your time to evaluate your every step. Slow down! Avoid rushing. 4. When you are mindful, you can evaluate your triggers or a situation or person before reacting or jumping to conclusions. We are often overwhelmed by a desire to say what we need to say immediately without considering impact on others. Situational role reversal can help you put yourself in the shoes of another. 5. Take responsibility for your life and choices. Prioritise your wellbeing. Respect the choices you make and that they might not be helpful. Nobody makes you do what you do not want in a relationship. You therefore co-create a dynamic. Rather than blame another person, identify that you can learn to make different choices in future. 3. Buy tranquillity To practice unconditional peacefulness, you need to accept that the impact of situations on you come from your perception not fact. For this reason, you need to have self-management and self-regulation tools to manage situations so that you are not reacting to everyone and everything. 4. Act despite the emotions. Cultivate discipline and continue with your goals. Resist urges or temptations. Commit to yourself and do not be swayed by emotions. Create boundaries in your relationship. Remember your why and act in your best interest. 5. Accept what happens As above, life will happen. Things you did not expect will unfold because of externals and also your lack of self-awareness and self-management tools. You benefit from welcoming what happens, applying an objective view, regulating emotions and creating solutions rather than staying stuck in your problems. 6. People are on loan. Enjoy them while you have them. When they are leaving, they are choosing. When someone leaves focus on what you have and accept that space for something new. Do not attach people to your goals. Grieve and let go. Trust the process 7. Be in the moment To minimise unhappiness, practice being in the moment. Objective evaluation and self-regulation tools are helpful to self-parent and create solutions and then come back to the present. Enjoy time you spend with your sweetheart without focusing on problems, on past or future too much. To enable these outcomes - create date nights. Conflict resolution hour weekly. Share love languages. Minimise complaints by learning to be authentic, open and expressive. Ypu do not need to share everything with your lover. You need to practice love on three levels. Learn to self-parent, self-soothe and give yourself what you need. Next, identify if you need to say anything to your lover. If you do, use Non-Violent Communication and feeling statements. Avoid control , entitlement, blame and demands. Welcome their choice and decide a way forward from deducing what is in your best interest. Forgive your partner and others. Forgiveness does not mean allow yourself to be taken for granted. It helps to choose your battles, resolve conflict and not let things accumulate. You can also forgive someone and lea

El lunes John David Souther cumplió 75 años. Nacido en Detroit pero crecido en Texas, marchó a Los Ángeles donde conoció a Glenn Frey - fundador de Eagles. Juntos formaron Longbranch Pennywhistle. Después colaboró con temas en los discos de Eagles hasta el punto de que le llamaban el quinto o el sexto “eagle” según la época. J.D. Se integró al supergrupo Souther Hillman Furay Band y después grabó dos discos en solitario que son auténticas joyas, sobre todo el segundo “Black Rose”. En 1979 consiguió su mayor éxito con la canción “Ypu’re Only Lonely” bajo el influjo de Roy Orbison. Y años después organizó el homenaje a Orbison con la participación de Bruce Springsteen, Bonnie Raitt, Jackson Browne, Tom Waits y Elvis Costello, entre otras grandes figuras. O segundo acompanha, atualmente, os integrantes da banda Os Mamíferos, que marcou a cena musical local durante a década de 60, na época da contracultura, mas que não gravou nenhum disco ou faixa. Em entrevista à nossa editora Nayara Reynaud, o cineasta Gustavo Galvão conta sobre seu interesse por protagonistas vagando em road movies, o cenário musical em Brasília e a produção do filme em Berlim, até a escolha por músicos para interpretar os personagens, o processo de criação das canções e a participação mais do que especial de Lee Ranaldo na trilha sonora, enquanto o célebre guitarrista da banda de rock alternativo Sonic Youth comenta sobre seu trabalho na produção musical neste e em outras obras, além do seu próximo álbum com o espanhol Raül Refree e de seu interesse na música brasileira.
