Here we are with the all male vocal edition of Men - Mardi Gras Men. I wanted to get this done before the actual main party weekend but I had so much going on, I had to push it back further in the month. This coming of age 20th edition of Men wastes no time in getting into it. The set kicks off with the awesome remix of "My Universe" by Coldplay from my good friend Rob of Division 4 and then swings into the funky sound of "Good Times". 7th Heaven feature three remixes here. The first is for Guy Sebastian's "Battle Scars". Guy is one of my all time favourite male vocalists. He won the first season of Australian Idol and he's voice is sublime. I've met him a couple of times through work and he is an absolute delight. If you're not familiar with his music (he writes all of his songs), then check him out. I've also met Adam Turner a few times in London and he is also a delight. He is the lead vocalist on the song "Amazing" featured here. He is also a music producer and his remixes are awesome. I've know Wayne G. for years and he is so much fun. He throws in two beautiful mixes for Bruno Mars and Darren Hayes respectively and then we're off into the big room sound. Robbie Carrigan is producing some amazing remixes (check out his Soundcloud page) and here he delivers a top notch mix of "Send Me An Angel" by Real Life - another Australian band from the 80's. Toy Armada & DJ GRIND deliver two anthems for Hardwell and R5 respectively and how could I not include any set without a couple of stand out mixes from DJ Mark De Lang of Dirty Disco. Here he works his magic on "I Feel Love" and "Stay". The set closes out with another beautiful 7th Heaven remix for boy band A1. The men absolutely rule in this pumping set. EnjoyAnthony1/ "MY UNIVERSE" (Division 4 Remix) - COLDPLAY ft. BTS2/ "GOOD TIME" (Whelan & Di Scala Remix) - WHEELS & DISCO ft. MIGHTY MARVIN3/ "YOU GOT IT ALL" (The Alias Club Mix) - UNION J4/ "BATTLE SCARS" (7th Heaven Club Mix) - GUY SEBASTIAN ft. Hey Fandom! Welcome back for another episode of Roundtable Recap with your Challenge Fandom Podcast hosts Rick, Corrina, Katie and Josh. This week, we give a HIGH EXPLICIT WARNING to anyone listening. You may not want to listen to this episode around your children, parents/family members or boss! We kick off the episode with our usual episode grade, over view and discussion of what would have made for a better elimination. Then we attempt to breakdown the flashback foreshadow opening scene that didn't quite seem to fit anything in the episode this week. From there we discuss a few of Cory's alliances in the house including Cara and Kyland, how we felt about Bananas' Angels trash talking Cara for getting away with playing the same game they attempted to play, and why in all the land is nobody targeting Jordan? We also discuss whether or not players like Jordan get a free pass on eliminations since they've more than proven themselves through their career and whether or not Rachel is regretting tying herself to Bananas so tightly. Next we break down the Tight Quarters inside the Cu Chi Tunnels and discuss everything from Aviv's attempt to jog the jungle to TJ fishing for compliments after Bananas can't figure his face out, and why was this episode so heavily focused on TJ? We also discuss whether or not production should have assisted Aviv sooner, how they decided a loser if Jordan timed out on the slider puzzle, whether or not the players who went into the Cu Chi Tunnels after dark were at a disadvantage and is there any chance you'd believe that Bananas threw this daily so he wouldn't have to show his cards with his Angels? To close out the episode we discuss something hilarious Corrina noticed upon the cast returning home from the daily, Michele assuming her safety with Kyland, Carl and Dave making another impeccable appearance on the show, Tori's attempt to shake up the house inside the Chamber, what we love most about Kyland's game and of course how we feel about Rachel hedging her bets with Jordan and Bananas. We also discuss whether or not Kyland is the best set up to make the final, breakdown the elimination including what matchups would have been better suited for this game, discuss new targets, MVPs, Lines of the night and so much more!

Kon Kan, el proyecto del canadiense Barry Harris, publica el single “I Beg Your Pardon (I Never Promised You a Rose Garden)” en 1988. 80's heartthrob Corey Feldman is an integral piece of film history from the decade. In movies like Gremlins, The Goonies, Stand By Me, and - alongside the second half of "The Two Coreys," Corey Haim - The Lost Boys, he was simply everywhere and seemingly in everything. Behind the scenes, however, his story was a much harder road - an abusive family, childhood sexual exploitation, and increasingly dire substance misuse. His adulthood, including two divorces and a just-announced third, is very clearly influenced by that childhood stolen by Hollywood and fame. Here's the very odd Today Show performance of Corey Feldman and his Angels (YouTube link). Content note: This episode includes allegations of child abuse, sexual exploitation, and substance misuse. To jump ahead to the start of the adult chapter of Corey's life, advance to around minute 35, depending on which ads are served earlier in the episode. Shat the Movies: 80's & 90's Best Film Review

BMX bikes! "Send Me An Angel!" Lori Loughlin in a Mongoose bicycle suit! It's the Shat The Movies episode we've been waiting six months to debut: "Rad!" Listener Frank Falls commissioned this 1986 bicycle-racing stuntfest, promoted it and put thunder in all our hearts. But in today's Xtreme Games environment, can Cru Jones' speed and tricks still wow a crowd? Does the bicycle boogie still inspire romance? Will Gene Lyons ever learn to bunny hop? In this episode, Big D questions whether the bad guys really knew anything about making money, praises the town of Cochrane for being so pro-kid and tells the tale of how his dream bike was stolen while he was returning a VHS rental. Gene adds to the mix by highlighting 1980s hot dog prices, pointing out some gruesome wrecks and pleading with the Shat The Movies audience to validate Cru's race-winning spin move. In 1983, Australian synthpop exploded with a surge of new bands hitting the ARIA chart, Front and centre was Melbourne's Real Life, which had been plugging away since forming in late 1980 through a couple of newspaper ads. Electronic anthem "Send Me An Angel" was a massive success locally and took off overseas, becoming a hit in North America and Europe. Singer David Sterry talks about the band's great start on Wheatley Records in Australia and Curb Records internationally, as well as the mixed fortunes of follow-up singles "Openhearted" and "Catch Me I'm Falling" from debut album Heartland. The band went through a difficult — and expensive — second album Flame, which led to a tumultuous second half of the '80s with line-up changes, stand-alone singles not being released in Australia and a return to favour with a remix of "Send Me An Angel" in 1989, which did even better in the US than the original. Third album Lifetime followed in 1990 and David discusses that and Real Life's sporadic release and touring schedule since then, including a recent return to the stage after a four-year break.

"What's Up" von den 4 Non Blondes und "Living On My Own" vom damals schon verstorbenen Freddie Mercury. Do fairytale endings happen? Sure, but only in the movies - and this, unfortunately, is real life. Elisse was all too familiar with the reality surrounding her life in what seemed like forever ago. A husband not tending to his internal struggles, a religious community that prided in family having judgmental views and commenting on her every move, and a future that seemed like it was headed nowhere. Elisse had had enough. Luckily real life and ironically the 80s band Real Life had a common solution to Elisse's prayers: Send Me An Angel.  A childhood friend, turned support system, had Elisse's back every step of the way. Although, Angel didn't come without his own scars to deal with. He also needed the warmth and care of a world that was too cold for him to live in any more. So what started off as a shoulder to lean on for each other, had blossomed into a love no outside force could extinguish. It's a rollercoaster of a story filled with betrayal, loss, arrogance, "the audacity", but most importantly redemption. This couple proves that fairytale endings can come true and we should all strive to reach true love & happiness in our lives. Well, what are you waiting for?!?! Listen in to hear this amazing story!

On (If You Believe In Love)’.

Noel catches up with David Sterry, front man of the band Real Life. The Australian band had a massive worldwide hit with "Send Me An Angel". In fact, the song charted twice, first in 1983, and the remixed version surpassed the original in the States in 1989. Real Life is a greatly underrated band that has a ton of great songs beyond Angel. We discuss them and if new music is on the way.

My first brand new podcast in nearly seven months. Where does the time go? They say patience is a virtue and good things come to those who wait and I think this one was worth waiting for. A good blend of the familiar and the not-so-familiar; some things you may remember and some you've long since forgotten or maybe never heard in your entire life. Before I get to a few band notes, I want to mention that I have now upgraded my account back to a Pro account. I just couldn't bear the thought that people were actually making a point of coming to this site to listen to the music only to be told by a pre-recorded message that they could not because of bandwidth limitations. What does that mean for you all? It means no more running out of bandwidth two days after I post a new episode. With apologies to the Pet Shop Boys it means more "opportunities" to listen and to download when you have time. It means more storage, so I don't have to delete the audio from an older podcast just to post a new one. (You may have already noticed I've re-posted some of the more recent back-catalog episodes). Over time, I will add more of them. For long-time listeners, it's a chance to re-visit some of the older stuff from "back in the day". For newer listeners, it will be like a glut of new podcasts to check out. I also want to note that I've removed the audio for my previous episode (CRC #42) as the recording levels were all over the map and I didn't think the quality was up to snuff. Perhaps 5 or 6 years ago, it would have been okay, I suppose, but even in light of the cheap mixer and free recording software I use to assemble these 'casts, I think this podcast has come too far now and demands a higher level of quality. So, I may re-record that one at a future date. At that point, I'll re-post. Same for back-catalog items. The really good ones, I'll re-post. The ones that could use a little work will most likely be re-recorded and re-posted as a "reboot" episode. All in all, thank you all again for tuning in. Have a Merry Christmas and a prosperous 2017! Now on to the bands ... If you've been a follower of this podcast since the beginning and you've clung to the belief that, against all probability, the thrash metal band, Slayer, would somehow make its presence felt at some point then your patience has finally been rewarded. And you should book your ticket to Vegas immediately. Taking a riff from the group's tune, "War Ensemble", "I Want You" was one of four Top-25 hits for Jez Willis and Tim Garbutt on Utah Saints' self-titled debut. The duo were at the pioneering edge of sampling, also grabbing a snippet of Kate Bush from her track Cloudbusting for the song "Something Good" and a soundbite from the inimitable Annie Lennox from her song "There Must Be an Angel (Playing with My Heart)" for the track "What Can You Do For Me". Called "the first true Stadium House band" by Bill Drummond of The KLF, Utah Saints were one of the first rave acts to play live and one I had the good fortune to see on the same bill with The Shamen in the early 90s during the rave culture explosion. And let me tell you: it was quite a show ... probably. I first heard "Salvation" by The Hood sometime in 1989 while in college. A guy who lived down the hall from me had a version of it on an old mix tape. I really liked the track and was pleased as punch when the first of many Razormaid! discs from my nascent subscription showed up in the mail containing a mix of that song. It is a portion of that 10+ minute version that appears here. I would soon come across a movie soundtrack of the same name while sifting through record bins at a local indie shop. New Order, Cabaret Voltaire, The Hood, hip-hop producer extraordinaire Arthur Baker and others appeared on the album, so I purchased it. While I've listened to the song "Salvation" umpteen times over the years, I did not know much about the band or its members. To this day, I still don't. I spent the better part of an hour trying to find information on the group, but mostly found song credits and track listings. Eventually, I did find a tiny bit of info on a website called The Lost Turntable. The info was posted by an Arthur Baker and a John Hood respectively, both of whom I can only assume to be the real article. "the hood- is john hood, a legendary nyc party promoter-doorman,who is also quite a good writer. he was signed for a short time on the sire label and is active on the club scene in south beach, miami, florida" "Wow! Yeah, that The Hood track is indeed me: John Hood. (Thanks AB!) And I'm delighted to find it posted. In fact, till right now I never even had an MP3 of the song! So if no one minds, I'll post this, save this, and send this around. Nice to find Salvation!" If anyone knows anything more about The Hood, I would LOVE to get a one-sheet or press kit or bio on them. Speaking of bands I don't know much about, Gruesome Twosome would qualify as well. Sort of a one-off project for founders Samy Birnbach from Minimal Compact (aka Lord Solomon Pearbrook) and Norwegian producer Per Martinsen, who had been recording under the name Syamese, "Hallucination Generation" is the only official single from the group and was released in 1989. A cult classic in its own right, the song sort of bridges the gap between traditional industrial dance music and the bourgeoning New Beat music scene that was starting to take hold at the time. Birnbach and Martinsen would later collaborate with the likes of Bertrand Burgalat, Thrash from The Orb, Paul Kendall and Fortran 5 to eventually release a full-length album called Candy From Strangers, which was released in 1993. Birnbach currently releases material under the DJ Morpheus moniker, having once worked with Colin Newman from Wire for a project called Oracle, while Martinsen performs as Mental Overdrive. While it's probably not the best analogy as they employed very different musical styles, Ultravox is much like the band Genesis in the sense that they have two distinct timelines, led by two distinctly different front men. And much like one could argue Peter Gabriel represented the true vision for Genesis, there is no denying that Phil Collins took the band to massive commercial heights and is probably remembered more readily as the face of the group. Similarly, one could argue that while John Foxx may have been the driving force behind Ultravox during their formative years, it was Midge Ure, who took over after Foxx left for a solo career, that kept the band from imploding and pushed them further into the mainstream and to massive success in the UK. With 7 Top-10 albums and 17 Top-10 singles, U-Vox, like many other bands of the day, took their cue from the glam rock outfits that came before such as Neu! In fact, early on Ultravox was known as Ultravox! (with an exclamation point) in deference to Neu! The first album with the classic line-up of Ure, Billy Currie, Warren Cann and Chris Cross would be the amazing Vienna, which marked a very different direction for the group. Produced by long-time Kraftwerk producer Conny Plank, the album included the title track, which would reach #2 in the UK and would be the highest charted song for the band. (John Lennon's "Woman" and "Shaddap You Face" by Joe Dolce would both keep the song from reaching #1). And while the 1982 album Quartet, produced by George Martin, would be the best-selling US album for U-Vox, the band would not again reach the level of critical success they found with Vienna. The song in this podcast is the 12" version of "We Came to Dance", the final single from Ultravox's sixth studio album, Quartet, released on April 18, 1983. The single reached #18 on the UK charts and was the last of seven consecutive top-20 singles for the band. This being the Christmas season, I would be derelict not to mention that Midge Ure also co-wrote (with Bob Geldof of Boomtown Rats fame) and produced the song "Do They Know It's Christmas?" by Band Aid. Last but not least, I want to mention "State Of The Nation" by New Order. Though it reached #1 on the UK Indie Singles Chart and #30 on the UK Singles chart in 1986, the song is probably not a favorite of the majority of New Order fans. I would wager if every NO devotee were to compile a list of his or her Top 10 songs, it would probably appear in less than 5% of those lists. Still, the track is a great one even if only for the fact that it's one of the few NO songs whose title actually appears within the lyrics and/or chorus of the song. As most die-hard fans know, the titles of most NO tunes have little or no relevance to the subject matter being discussed. "Shellshock", "Regret", "Touched By The Hand Of God" and "Confusion" are a few songs I can think of off the top of my head that go against that grain. While the song did not appear on the album, Brotherhood, which was released around this time, both the remix version appearing here and the B-side called "Shame Of The Nation", which was produced by John Robie, appear on the Substance compilation, released in 1987. That will do it for this epidsode. I've got my next podcast ready to record. As soon as I find some time, I'll do just that. Happy Listening!

David Sterry is the man behind one of the most iconic and enduring hits of the 80s synth-pop era, "Send Me An Angel". His band Real Life were major players in the 80s when Angel reached the charts TWICE (in 1983 and again in 1989), and "Catch Me I'm Falling" also made a huge splash in 1983. You'd think writing a song as evergreen as Angel would keep you comfy for the rest of your life, but surprisingly, that was not the case. Luckily, after 20 years, David is now benefitting from his impactful legacy and successfully touring the 80s nostalgia circuit in his native Australia. I am very pleased to announce the Live Music Podcast Facebook page has surpassed the 100 mark.  Thanks to everyone for joining up and helping me reach this goal!  I am now one step closer to having more fans than the pickle.I've been wanting to feature a White Stripes concert for some time but especially after I watched their recent concert documentary Under Great White Northern Lights.  If you have yet to see this I very highly recommend it.  The film follows Jack and Meg White on their tour across Canada, making a stop at every single province and territory.  There are lots of great behind the scenes footage included and the amazing live performances that you would expect so go rent or buy it now!The concert that I will be featuring was captured on the grounds of the 2007 Bonnaroo Festival and will featuring many of the songs as in the movie since both occurred during the same year.  It's amazing to me how they are able cram the large number of songs into this show and with very little filler.  This has to make it one of the most intense concerts as 2 people can ever hope to put together and so I give to you The White Stripes.Take the Live Music Podcast listener survey here! Moving along to the 4th installment of the BPM Edition 2009 v1, you'll notice that the mix picks up where the 3rd one left off.  It starts off with some deep and dark progressive tunes before we jump back into the electro.  You might also want to take note of two remakes in this mix.  First up is "Send Me An Angel" by Lovematic feat. Sharon May Linn.  This is a remake of the 80's classic by Real Life.  There are a variety of mixes that accompany this set and one even mimics the original while updating the synth riff for today's floors.  While it's not bad, I had a hard time swallowing it given the female voice as opposed to the original male vocals.  It's hard to listen to a remake of such a massive classic as this without cringing.  Digging into the mixes I finally settled on the Fratty & Burra Club Mix which retains the original melody but uses it in ways never considered before.  For that, I applaud their originality and slapped on four stars to show my approval.  Then we have a remake of "Your Loving Arms" by Jose Amnesia vs. Karen Overton.  Of course the original was done by Billie Ray Martin in the mid-nineties.  This song has deep meaning to me and once again I was skeptical.  After listening to it, I was completely immersed in the song with its trance-like synths swirling around my head.  While nothing will ever match the magic of the original, this sure comes close.  As for Billie Ray, I've got a new mix of the very same song that I'll probably drop in on next week's "Winter Edition".  I understand she's working on some new material scheduled for release later this year.  I also have another 90's classic remake slated for the final volume and will go into detail about that on Friday. I also wanted to mention the Ting Tings latest offering.  "Fruit Machine" must be like their gazillionth single from their "We Started Nothing" debut.  Jam-packed with all sorts of electro-pop goodness, each song has been remixed to great effect by some of today's hottest producers.  I don't just love the remixes, but the album as well.  Before all is said and done, we may end up with another batch of mixes for "We Walk".  Currently, they are scheduled to write and record a new album in Paris and Berlin.  If they can keep this up, they deserve every bit of success that has come their way.  Outstanding! You may also be scratching your head and wondering "what is that bleached bottled blond thinking?"  Lily Allen's "Fear" was already on take one.  Glad you asked.  I absolutely adore this song.  Wideboys and Stonebridge did a fabulous job of re-creating what was a rather ho-hum pop song and transforming it into something meaningful.  Th lyrics alone are worth the price of admission but coupled with these awesome dancefloor interpretations, bring the song to life.  While I don't expect this song to become some worldwide dance hit, every once in a while there's a song that just demands attention, and this is one such moment. "I want to be rich and I want lots of money I don't care about clever I don't care about funny I want loads of clothes and fuckloads of diamonds I heard people die while they are trying to find them I'll take my clothes off and it will be shameless 'Cuz everyone knows that's how you get famous I'll look at the sun and I'll look in the mirror I'm on the right track yeah I'm on to a winner I don't know what's right and what's real anymore I don't know how I'm meant to feel anymore When do you think it will all become clear? 'Cuz I'm being taken over by The Fear Life's about film stars and less about mothers It's all about fast cars cussing each other But it doesn't matter cause I'm packing plastic and that's what makes my life so fucking fantastic And I am a weapon of massive consumption and its not my fault it's how I'm programmed to function I'll look at the sun and I'll look in the mirror I'm on the right track yeah we're on to a winner I don't know what's right and what's real anymore
