Chappell Roan's breakthrough hit "Pink Pony Club" gets a dancefloor-ready rework by Stephen Jusko & DJ Blacklow, followed by Ethel Cain's "Sun Bleached Flies" and a haunting fan-made mashup of her vocals with Robyn's "Dancing On My Own" instrumental. Of course, no set would be complete without the original Robyn version of "Dancing On My Own," remixed by Luca Debonaire, Tony Ruiz, and Matt Consola. Here we are at the end of the year and this December '23 edition of UP! just manages to slide in before the New Year. I'd like to say that it was my intention but in all honesty, I was distracted by Xmas, multiple friends December birthdays and the looming presence of the approaching new year. This set wastes no time in getting into it with some thumping house tracks kicking off with the excellent David Guetta/Kim Petras collaboration "When We Were Young" mixed by Apollo. I pulled a classic Division 4 track from a few years back which I forgot I had. "Clap Your Hands" has some great samples from Whitney's "My Love Is Your Love". Ray Isaac Turns in a killer mix of Paloma Faith's "How To Leave A Man" as do Stephen Jusko & DJ Blacklow on Chappell Roan's "Pink Pony Club". Mark from Dirty Disco delivers three more outstanding remixes here for Tate McRae, Cactushead and Barry Huffine ft. Zhana Roiya respectively. Toy Armada & Jace M work their magic on Ed Sheerans' "Eyes Closed" and Brazilian DJ/Producer Henriq Moraes has three featured remixes here for Taylor Swift, Dua Lipa and Calvin Harris ft. Sam Smith. I'm really liking his style and there are several great remixes he has produced for classic divas which will definitely be appearing on my Mardi Gras anthems in March next year. It's been a full year since I put out a proper (pre-recorded) podcast (not a live set) — sometimes the process of making these can be taxing and frustrating… I needed a break from putting out podcasts semi-regularly. But I'm feeling inspired to get back to making them now, so this fall my music output is about to get bigger and louder than ever! It's also been a while since I've put out a Big Room podcast and I was ready to create something along the lines of what you're listening to right now. You'll hear that my #PugLife sound has changed quite a bit. It's much more tech-house-centric and more influenced by the DJ/producers I listen to these days. Pride month may be over but July carries on with world wide parties and celebrations. I would like to add July's edition of UP! to the festivities. This set is jam packed with uplifting house and club anthems to keep the party going. Kicking it off is the Sonny Federa & Ella Henderson collaboration "Like I Used To" followed by Australia's own Ricki-Lee with her new single "On My Own". Producer Jolyon Petch remixes this song as well as his own track "Make A Move". Australian producer Nick Jay delivers a killer remix of Australian diva Tina Arena's 90's hit "I Need Your Body" which I meant to put on last month's Pride Anthems but completely forgot. (I'm very vague sometimes). Division 4 delivers a funky remix of Lizzo's "Phone" which I really like. Dirty Disco (Mark de Lange) has been very busy turning out some outstanding remixes recently and I feature six of them in this set. Artists include Kylie Minogue's "Padam Padam" (her massive summer smash hit), Dua Lipa, Kristine W, Sam Smith & Madonna, Ariana Castelli and Adam Lambert - a veritable smorgasbord of Dirty Disco. We lost a legend of the music industry in late May of this year. Tina Turner was an incredible artist turning out hits from the 60's through to the 2010's. I've included the Joe Gauthreaux remix of one of her biggest hits "The Best" (RIP Tina). Debby Holiday delivers a powerful vocal on her Pride hit "Love Lift Me Up" collaborating with Stephen Jusko & DJ Blacklow. Toy Armada also features two remixes here for Mary Kiani on her cover of "Giving Up, Giving In" as well as Kim Petras & Nicki Minaj's massive hit "Alone". Idina Menzel has a pumping new song out, "Move" remixed by Guy Scheiman. The set closes out with Sigala & Adam Lambert's cover of the Sylvester classic "Mighty Real". Welcome to the final UP! for 2022. This edition sneaks in just before Xmas and is packed full of funky house and club anthems to see you through to the New Year. The set kicks off with another great track by Jack Wins "Good Love" and slides into "Medicine" by Trucco. Rihanna's massive hit "Lift Me Up" from the Black Panther sequel gets an excellent treatment from Ray Isaac as does "I Just Want Your Touch" by Jolyon Petch. Division 4 has two remixes featured here for Meghan Trainor and Naked Flame respectively. LeAnn Rimes has a great new track "Spaceship" which has an amazing remix from Dave Aude`. Years & Years cover Crystal Waters' classic "100% Pure Love" mixed by Dirty Disco and 7th Heaven do a classic, energy remix of "Drop Dead Gorgeous" by NVS. Probably my favourite track on this set is P!nk's new song "Never Gonna Not Dance Again" remixed by Stephen Jusko & DJ Blacklow. It is such a joyous and uplifting song and all the remixes I have of it are stellar. Guy Scheiman reinvents "Like It Is" as does Big Kid on the amazing "Run" by Becky Hill. I never put Christmas themed songs on my podcasts and I promised my brother I would stick to that again this year. However, I folded and placed Mariah's "All I Want For Christmas" as the closing track as the Lord N' remix is quite uplifting. That's about as festive as I get. Don't hate me Nick. The ATL has finally started to cool down while Party Favorz keeps heating up with our annual Fall Edition! I decided not to make everyone wait another week for this drop because I was able to get a couple of major things out of the way earlier in the week. A lot is going on in this set that features something for everyone. Of course, we've got all the latest circuit hits and pop hits remixed for the circuit, but I'm starting to pull in some mashups for this series and a couple of unexpected 80s throwbacks threw me off track but were so good they had to be included. The Journey x Edson Pride remix of Separate Ways (Worlds Apart) is monumental. We closed out the set with another one of Joel Dickinson's (a.k.a. Thee Werqn B!tches) deliciously devilish mashups featuring the unlikely casting of Lizzo, 4 Non Blondes, and Barbra Streisand mixed into a delightful confection of hi-energy glitterama. Jace M & Toy Armada have graced us with an uplifting tribute mix of Everyday by Kim English. This version is their signature style, which suits the track and its positive message. With the recent passing of Olivia Newton-John, I thought it was fitting to pay tribute to this gay icon. The woman has a treasure trove of music with five #1 hits, a multitude of Top 10 hits, two #1 albums, and she's a 4-time Grammy winner who has sold over 100 million albums worldwide. Many people aren't aware that her career (much like Taylor Swift) started in country music, then country pop before moving to pop music. Most of you do know that she starred opposite John Travolta in Grease, whose soundtrack is one of the world's biggest-selling albums. Newton-John battled breast cancer three times and was an advocate for breast cancer research as well as environmental and animal rights. As a gay icon and ally to our community, she appeared in the 1996 drama It's My Party — a movie about AIDS and dying with dignity. I noticed that there weren't any remixes for Miss Newton-John other than Physical (thank you Leo Blanco) so I dug out the Victor Calderone remix of Hopelessly Devoted To You from the Grease soundtrack, which — despite its age — fits perfectly into this set. Barry Harris had recently reworked Xanadu but I thought that wouldn't quite fit in and only a few of my followers would get it. I just wanted to pay my respects and give love to this woman who was a big part of my life. For June/July 2020 I decided to release two editions of Pride Anthems similar to how I do in March with Mardi Gras Anthems. This 4th edition of Pride Anthems has a distinctly different sound and feel to number 3. This edition sits squarely in the big room and circuit arena with some great new remixes of past anthems to have graced the dance floors of Pride events around the world. The set opens with the Toy Armada & DJ GRIND remix of Mel B's uplifting "For Once In My Life" which is followed by a killer Dario Xavier remix of Madonna's classic "Where's The Party". Stephen Jusko & DJ Blacklow released a 25th anniversary remix of Alanis Morissette's "You Oughta Know" and it is a floor stomper."Rain On Me" by Lady Gaga gets the Toy Armada & DJ GRIND pride anthem treatment and is the most current track in the set. Heading back into classic territory are tracks from Deborah Cox, Jennifer Hudson, Celine Dion, Cher and Beyonce` with remixes from Brett Oosterhaus, Drew G, Stephen Jusko, Johnny Rocks and Edson Pride. Just in time for New Year's Eve and ushering in the new decade comes the first edition of UP! - January 2020. This set is designed with maximum energy to keep your hands in the air and your feet moving. Inaya Day features on 2 tracks here. The first being "Beautiful Life", her collaboration with Master Fale which kicks off the set. Two energy filled house stompers "Rushing Back" by Flume and "Never Be The Same" by Tritonal get fantastic remixes from Division 4 and Alpha 9 respectively. GUEST MIX 006! Here's the latest installment of my 'guest mix' series, where I bring you exclusive podcasts from some of my favorite DJs and producers around the world. Barry Harris takes Dua Lipa's massive "Blow Your Mind" and pairs it with Twenty One Pilots "Heathens" creating a fun bouncy mashup bound to make your head spin. Perhaps the biggest surprise resurgence of the year goes to Air Supply. The early 80's guilty pleasure duo who supplied the Top 40 with one adult contemporary sappy love song after another jumps back into the spotlight. With re-recorded vocals, "All Out of Love" has new life breathed into it for the dancefloor and is currently (once again) riding high on the charts. Joe Gauthreaux & Leanh turn the drama-laden milker into a giant circuit tear-jerker. We finally close this set out with the re-affirming former number one, "Say Yes" by the amazingly talented Jason Walker. True to style, Moto Blanco captures the essences of the original allowing Jason's glorious vocals to soar above the production. I'm back with part two of the Halloween Edition and yada, yada, yada. One thing I do want you folks to pay attention to is Manuel Riva & Eneli - Mhm Mhm (Silver Bluff Remix). I'm torn between two versions for the upcoming EDM set of the Halloween Edition and not doubt a more stripped down laid-back version will make it onto my next Mixtape in November. Those who have experienced Coachella know what a magical musical experience it is. There's nothing quite like watching the sun set in the Indio desert, as the night lights up in neon colors while you & your friends are hustling from finishing hearing one amazing band in order to catch the tail end of another. This year was my 2nd Coachella, and it was marked by an amazing time with great friends, old and new alike. This year's Coachella was especially strong in the EDM arena. Many of us listened to dance music long before its time in the limelight; as it has been for the past couple of years. Festival headliners including Swedish House Mafia, David Guetta, Calvin Harris, Alesso, Avicii, Martin Solveig and Jacques Lu Conte all played Coachella sets -- and not just once this year, but rather, two weekends in a row. They brought guests on stage for their sets which included Rihanna, Usher, Sia, Dragonette and more. The two parts of this Podcast represent the best of the electronic music that I heard this year at Coachella. Certain songs -- the Alesso remix of David Guetta's "Titanium" (feat. Sia), the Knife Party remix of Swedish House Mafia's "Save The World," Sebastian Ingrosso's "Calling" and Avicii's "Fade Into Darkness" vs. Florence + The Machine's "You've Got The Love", Avicii's "Levels" and Gotye's "Somebody That I Used To Know" (which hit #1 on the Billboard Hot 100 the same week) -- seemingly showed up in every DJ set. So, I present for you... the EDM Coachella that I, DJ Blacklow, experienced in 2012 -- it might have been slightly different for you, but these were the songs that have been stuck in my head for a full week since my drive back to LA on the 10 freeway. The mixing's not perfect (it can be hard syncing a 95 BPM song into a 128!), and it's some of the most driving music I've DJ'd with to date.
