When it comes to death, dying and grieving, it seems that most people do their grieving in private. But what if you are in the public eye? How does grieving affect you then? It can be very complex and very challenging. For the next few weeks I am going to be talking to some people who are public figures in their communities, most of whom I have known through the years from our time together in the TV biz. The conversations are quite interesting because the way in which we deal with grief, handle the pain, and process it are all so different and yet if you look back at how you moved through, most all can say it changed us profoundly. In this episode, popular Dallas TV personality Ron Corning sat down with me to talk about the recent death of his mother, and the horrific death of a dear friend and co-worker. He says all of it not only made him a better person, but he also feels it made him a better reporter. I think you will be fascinated with our conversation. I know I was. ## Ron Corning is the co-host of Morning After on CW33 in Dallas, Texas. Before Morning After, Ron spent the 8 years at Dallas's ABC affiliate where he anchored the early morning and midday newscasts, and special events. During his time in Dallas-Fort Worth he has emceed and contributed to more than 250 charitable organizations. Ron is a broadcaster with 26 years of experience. He made his way on to the national stage with the WB's ‘The Daily Buzz' before moving on to ABC News where he anchored the network's overnight newscasts, World News Now and World News This Morning, and served as a correspondent for ‘Good Morning America'. ** Sherrie Dunlevy- #Inspirationista, is a best selling author, speaker, podcast host. Or they may even challenge you and your grief by trying to explain it cannot be compared to the loss of a human. In this episode, I am addressing this issue once and for all. Pet loss IS REAL GRIEF. And the pain you feel is real and understandable and can be excruciating. And because it is real grief, you may be having a difficult time with it. This episode is a short but powerful episode about validating that grief and that pain, and hopefully by doing that, it will lead to the hope and healing that comes with Graduating from your Grief. ### Sherrie Dunlevy- #Inspirationista, is a best selling author, speaker, podcast host. Because of the current times we are living in, more and more people are turning to online grief support groups because they are open when most of the world has been in lockdown. While many are great places to go to find people who completely understand your grief and pain and offer you words of comfort, you need to make sure you are also finding support, encouragement and tools inside that group that can help you not only process the pain, but also lead you to hope and healing. Too many times I have entered into these groups only to find people telling each other that life will forever be dark, that the pain is equal to the love you have for those you lost and that you are destined to live in the pain of grief for the rest of your life. Does that sound heavy or what? These kinds of beliefs can not only hinder your growth but can make you lose hope that healing from your pain is possible. In this edition of the Graduating Grief Podcast, I talk about why finding positive grief support can be a place to tell your story, but also a place where other members encourage you to take steps toward healing.
